  • How to centre list-items in a column

    Hey all, I am trying to centre page numbers at the bottom of this test blog... http://jocelynwarner.com/test/ in the centre between the previous and next buttons however I cannot think how to do it, I tried a few different tutorials but they didn't really seem to help with this. Any hints on how to make them sit centrally in the left column (the width of the blog content - sidebar) would be greatly appreciated.

    Suppose I have the following code: <div id="outerrt"> <div id="rt" style="width: 200px; height: 200px; border: 1px solid black;"> <span id="rt2">content</span> </div> </div> And I use the following: $("#outerrt *").live("click", function () { alert($(this).attr('id')); }); What it would give me when I click on the content text is three alert windows, in the following order: rt2 rt outerrt What I actually want it to give me is only one id: rt2. How do I accomplish that?

    I want to right-align an inline element to the right of a div. I have seen float="right" applied on a span to right align it but it seems semantically incorrect to me as floats are supposed to move "boxes" or block elements to the right or left of a container element. Is my understanding of Float wrong or is there another way of right-aligning inline elements in a container DIV.

  • IE6 Overflow Issue

    <div style="float:left; width:50%;"> div 1 <div style="position:absolute; width:105%">nested element</div> </div> <div style="float:left; width:50%;"> div 2 </div If an element exceeds the width of its floated parent element, the next element is pushed down unless I apply overflow:hidden on both floated elements, which defeats the purpose because I DO NOT want to hide the overflowing content. Is there any fix for it?

  • IE font size decrease does not cause select box height to decrease

    I have a font resize function on my page which increases the font size via javascript for the entire page. This works fine in most browsers except IE. When decreasing the font size after increasing it, the select boxes new height does not decrease, even though the font size is decreasing on it. Instead the smaller font appears to be padded with white space. Any ideas as to what IE is doing here, and a work around?

    Hello, I have created a drop down with JQuery that can be seen here by clicking the Preview button on top: http://jsbin.com/ubire3/edit It works fine except for one problem. When i hover over the main hover links (blue ones) quickly eg going horizontally quickly hovering each top menu, the some submenus don't close. How do i make it so that even if i hover fast over them all other submenus are closed? Thanks.

    Alright, so I was wondering if there was an alternative, lightweight way to creating an image map. Basically, I want to take this image: And have the sections of the diagram light up when they are hovered over, kinda like this (I've mocked it up in photoshop): The other sections (which I haven't named yet) should be able to do the same. Also, I'd like to be able to use javascript later to have sliding links appear from behind those sections (I roughly know how to do that now, so I'm okay that) Does anyone have any suggestions? Just a general direction on what to search for would be great.

    I dynamically load in a few li's that have a label and a checkbox in them to another visible ul. I set the checkboxes to be checked="checked" and i am trying to trigger an event to happen when i change these dynamically inserted checkboxes but nothing occurs. Here is the jquery: $(".otherProductCheckbox:checkbox").change( function(){ alert('test'); }); Here is the html for the dynamically added li's: <li class="otherProduct"><input type="checkbox" class="otherProductCheckbox radioCheck" checked="checked"/><label>Product Name</label></li> Any idea why i cant get the alert to happen when the checkbox changes its checked state?

  • Javascript: move the "view point" of the browser

    I have a page with many out-of-bounds contents and since I set body{overflow:hidden}, they are not outside the viewport. So I want to attach a function to a button which would move the PoV of the browser so that the out-of-bounds contents would come into the viewport. What I can think of now is to set body{position:relative} and use jQuery to animate() the body instead. But in terms of performance, is there a better way to achieve that?

  • Alignment for image display on hover works only in IE7?

    Hello, I tried to display a image when a mouseover on text occurs. It works fine. And the alignment of the image should be shown such that the end of the image should be at the container. It works fine with the code shown below, Only in IE7. In everything, it gets chopped off..   • How to access controls collection of dynamically loaded aspx page?

    Let's say I have two webforms, A.aspx and B.aspx, where B.aspx contains some simple web controls such as a textbox and a button. I'm trying to do the following: When A.aspx is requested, I want to dynamically call and load B.aspx into memory and output details of all the controls contained in B.aspx. Here is what I tried in the codebehind for A.aspx: var compiledType = BuildManager.GetCompiledType("~/b.aspx"); if (compiledType != null) { var pageB = (Page)Activator.CreateInstance(compiledType); } foreach (var control in pageB.Controls) { //output some details for each control, like it's name and type... } When I try the code above, the controls collection for pageB is always empty. Any ideas on how I can get this to work? Some other important details: both webforms utilize a master page (so the web controls in b.aspx are actually placed within a "content" tag) I've also tried using BuildManager.CreateInstanceFromVirtualPath. No luck.

  • big background without scrolls

    I have layout that has wider background picture than the content area. I have made 970ppx wrapper where the content is. And in body I have backgroud image but I need to have anothen background image above of tht body background image so I have made class bgimg. So basically the markup is like this: But the bgimg is about 1050px wide and thus it gives scrolls when users browser is 1024x768. Is there way of getting rid the scrolls? I mean I want to have have scrollbars if users browrser is narrower thant the 970x wrapper of course. So can I put something like overflow hidden for bgimg class? Hopefully you did understannd what I mean.

    I have a modal UI in my web app that necessitates a fixed layout design. After much fussing, I decided absolutely positioned child elements was the way to go. However, I have one div that conditionally requires a vertical scrollbar (if there's too much content). When this scrollbar is added, the width of the div seems to vary between IE 7 and IE 8. IE8 standards mode: IE7 standards mode: I haven't even tested for IE 6, but I'm sure it's even funkier. What's the simplest, least painful way to address this to arrive at a consistent UI in all major browsers?

    I know the various websites around the tinternet, that allow you to customize a loading.gif etc, but what I wanted to know... Is there a way, aside from creating a gif with adobe etc, to create custom text loading... So instead of the ubiquitous spinner, you can specify text that animates whilst an image loads. I have searched high and low, and not found anything. Nearest I got was a jquery spinner, but thats not what I am after. Wondered if any of you guys had come across this before. If so, what did you do to customize it.. Example: Sometimes you may see the following animated ( as a gif ) L...... LO..... LOA.... LOAD... LOADI.. LOADIN. LOADING I know the above is done by creating a loop of animations, but wondered if there was a more upto date method of creating custom loading messages, perhaps using jquery ... I have seen it done in flash etc

  • Div's are not filtered as :hidden when display:none; is appended as style

    Hey folks I have some simple HTML: <div id="selectorContainer"> <div id="chainedSelector" style="display: none;"><% Html.RenderPartial("ProjectSuggest/ChainedProjectSelector"); %></div> <div id="suggestSelector"><% Html.RenderPartial("ProjectSuggest/SuggestControl", new SuggestModeDTO{RegistrationMode = Model.RegistrationMode}); %></div> </div> which is two containers for controls. I have jQuery code to toggle between displaying these, but I need to store as a cookie which one was used last time the user was logged in (i.e. which one was visible). The storing of the cookie is not the problem. The problem is that I for some reason am not able to detect which one is the hidden one, using .is(":hidden"), and not able to detect which one is visible using .is(":visible") When I use those two selectors, I always get both. "true" and "true" for both, eventhough one has display: none; and the other doesn't. Please note that they are NOT placed inside a hidden container which otherwise would hide both, so there are not any hidden ancestor containers.     Hi I'm new to java. I'm trying to use some dynamically loaded classes in my application. The application doesn't know classes , Just it try to load a class by name that its name came from input. It doesn't know class (So I can't use casting) but just needs to call some methods of that class (every class should have that methods). I thought about interfaces but I don't know how. How can I call those methods? Thanks
