  • Checkbox not checking inside div in Firefox

    - by mike
Weird problem. I don't know if anyone can shed some light on this? I have a checkbox inside a div. It works fine in IE but not Firefox. I have to click the space around the checkbox that is occupied by the div (sort of like a label) for the checkbox to tick on and off. Directly clicking the checkbox does not show it as ticked on or off, even though in firebug it is showing that it is in a checked state and an unchecked state. Only in FF does this happen.....

    - by Anurag
I have few buttons on my jsp page and I am using the style as : .buttonblue { background-color: #003366; border-color: #99CCFF; color: #FFFFFF; font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica; font-size: 8pt; font-weight: bold; height: 20px; display:inline; line-height: 1.2; text-align: center; margin-top: 2px; } In Firefox the buttons are bit smaller than IE6. I can not define the size of buttons as the caption changes the button size changes accordingly. I tried with width:auto but no success. Also, with overflow:visible the buttons in IE becomes bit smaller. Please help.

  • seeking help with Chrome & Safari not rendering my table stretched to fit its contents...help?

    - by oompa_l
    I have an element on this web page I'm developing where I need my text to conform to the width of an image above it - whose width will always be different - think of captions. I have found numerous references to using a 1px table to force this width sizing behaviour. I am having problems, though with Safari and Chrome "seeing" this instruction - the text ends up as a marginally sized text box sitting behind the image. The problem, as I see it, has to do with the text and images sitting in div's nested within the table. I need the images to sit in a div because of some jquery script I'm using called cycle, which turns a group of images into a slideshow. The problem may have something to do with the script as well. In any case, I have tried a seeming infinite number of combination of floating left and clearing left on all all the divs, changing their positions and widths...nothing works. Anyone have any clues about how to broach this one? EDIT 1: ok, should I be editing my post or responding with answers? here's the url to see the problem I am having - http://friedmanstudios.ca/webdev/test8.html and the code: <div id="content" class="boxes"> <table> <tr> <td > <div id="imageFrame"> <a href="#" class="img" title="_MG_9786_fmt.jpeg"> <img src="images/_MG_9786_fmt.jpeg"/> </a> <a href="#" class="img" title="IMG_5169_fmt.jpeg"> <img src="indesign export/GFA-TEARSHEETS-100526-01-web-images/IMG_5169_fmt.jpeg"/> </a> <a href="#" class="img" title="IMG_5175_fmt.jpeg"> <img src="indesign export/GFA-TEARSHEETS-100526-01-web-images/IMG_5175_fmt.jpeg"/> </a> <a href="#" class="img" title="aerial_fmt.jpeg" width=""> <img src="indesign export/GFA-TEARSHEETS-100526-01-web-images/aerial_fmt.jpeg"/> </a> </div> <div id="cycleCtrl"> <div id="prev" class="pager"><a href="#">< Prev</a> </div> <div id="next" class="pager"><a href="#">Next ></a></div> <div id="pagerNav" class="pager"></div> </div> <div id="descController"> <img src="images/arrow.gif" name="arrow" width="5" height="10" id="arrow" /> <span id="projectName">Toronto Centre for the Arts </span> <br /> <div id="desc"> In the past eight years... </div> </div></td> <td width="90%"><!--push col 1 back--></td> </tr> </table> and the styles: #content { position: absolute; top: 250px; left: 275px; float: left; clear: both; } content table { float: left; width: 1px; } imageFrame { position: relative; float: left; clear: left; width: inherit; } desc { position: relative; clear: left; float: left; } descController { position:relative; padding-top:5px; padding-bottom:10px; clear: left; float: left; } descController div { height:0; overflow:hidden; -webkit-transition:all .5s ease; -moz-transition:all .5s ease; -o-transition:all .5s ease; transition:all .5s ease; padding-top:10px; margin-top: 10px; word-spacing: 0em; line-height: 16px; font-size: 12px; position: relative; float: left; clear: left; }

  • Java: Using Dynamically loaded classes

    - by Snigger
Hi I'm new to java. I'm trying to use some dynamically loaded classes in my application. The application doesn't know classes , Just it try to load a class by name that its name came from input. It doesn't know class (So I can't use casting) but just needs to call some methods of that class (every class should have that methods). I thought about interfaces but I don't know how. How can I call those methods? Thanks

  • What's the simplest and most robust way to have constant-height submit button with rounded corners?

    - by taw
Constant height so just left/right images should be necessary instead of having 4+, right? I'd still want top-to-bottom color gradient (and different one on hover). If possible, I'd prefer if it was still an <input type='submit'> and not anything weird. Is there any way (website / imagemagick script etc.) to generate these images automatically or do I need to draw them in some graphics program?

  • Creating a Drop-Down Menu with Javascript

    - by iceteea
Question about logics here: What's the most elegant way to make the menu appear/disappear onmouseover/onmouseout? See the following JsBin: http://jsbin.com/owayeb/edit#source The Menu is hidden by default. If the user moves his cursor above the Link the showme() function gets called. When the user moves his cursor away the hideme() functions gets called. How would I get the Menu to persist while the user moves his mouse away from the Link to above the Menu? Or is this all the wrong school of thought?

  • 3 DIV's - Center Middle and Others taking up rest of room

    - by Adam
I need to have 3 DIV's - you can see 3 colors in the above image. The middle DIV needs always be 960px and alls needs to be centered (you can see the 2 grey lines above). The other 2 DIV's need to take up all the other available space. If I zoom in and out of the page the red and yellow DIV's need to expand with the page while the middle green one remains centered. I've tried DIV solutions and Table solutions and I can't get it to fit. HTML <div id="div1" style="background-color:red"></div> <div id="div2" style="background-color:red"></div> <div id="div3" style="background-color:red"></div> any advice would be appreciated. thx ** Update: http://jsfiddle.net/scxAq/ working on this... with limited success...

So I want to remove the background of each image. How to do that ?

  • C++ new memory allocation fragmentation

    - by tamulj
I was trying to look at the behavior of the new allocator and why it doesn't place data contiguously. My code: struct ci { char c; int i; } template <typename T> void memTest() { T * pLast = new T(); for(int i = 0; i < 20; ++i) { T * pNew = new T(); cout << (pNew - pLast) << " "; pLast = pNew; } } So I ran this with char, int, ci. Most allocations were a fixed length from the last, sometimes there were odd jumps from one available block to another. sizeof(char) : 1 Average Jump: 64 bytes sizeof(int): 4 Average Jump: 16 sizeof(ci): 8 (int has to be placed on a 4 byte align) Average Jump: 9 Can anyone explain why the allocator is fragmenting memory like this? Also why is the jump for char so much larger then ints and a structure that contains both an int and char.

  • How do I center align horizontal <UL> menu?

    - by Steven
I need to centre align a horizontal menu. I've tried various solutions, including the mix of inline-block / block / center-align etc., but not being successful. Can someone help me please? :) Here is my code: <div class="topmenu-design"> <!-- Top menu content: START --> <ul id="topmenu firstlevel"> <li class="firstli" id="node_id_64"><div><a href="#"><span>Om kampanjen</span></a></div></li> <li id="node_id_65"><div><a href="#"><span>Fakta om inneklima</span></a></div></li> <li class="lastli" id="node_id_66"><div><a href="#"><span>Statistikk</span></a></div></li> </ul> <!-- Top menu content: END --> </div> UPDATE I know how to center align the UL within the DIV. That can be accomplished using Sarfraz's suggestion. But the list items are still floated left within the UL. Do I smell javascript to accomplish this?

  • How to implement a book preview (2 page spread) without using Flash?

    - by littlejim84
I'm looking into a solution for work, where you have a two page spread of the book to preview. Either side of this, you can hover in the corner to create a pseudo-flip and then click the mouse button to actually turn the page. I know there is many Flash solutions out there, but in this case we cannot use it... So we are looking for a possible solution that can work across all major browsers (yes, including IE6)... I looked a few canvas solutions, but with Google's canvas extension for IE, these will terribly slow. So was thinking about an SVG/VML solution, like Raphael Javascript library. This could be good, but then trying to look into how to code this, without examples, could be a challenge with the time constraint. Is there a solution out there that fits (or almost fits) this problem?

  • loading.gif ( but customized )

    - by 422
I know the various websites around the tinternet, that allow you to customize a loading.gif etc, but what I wanted to know... Is there a way, aside from creating a gif with adobe etc, to create custom text loading... So instead of the ubiquitous spinner, you can specify text that animates whilst an image loads. I have searched high and low, and not found anything. Nearest I got was a jquery spinner, but thats not what I am after. Wondered if any of you guys had come across this before. If so, what did you do to customize it.. Example: Sometimes you may see the following animated ( as a gif ) L...... LO..... LOA.... LOAD... LOADI.. LOADIN. LOADING I know the above is done by creating a loop of animations, but wondered if there was a more upto date method of creating custom loading messages, perhaps using jquery ... I have seen it done in flash etc

  • Minimize the sequence by putting appropriate operations ' DP'

    - by Vikas
Given a sequence, say, 222 We have to put a '+' or '* ' between each adjacent pair. '* ' has higher precedence over '+' We have to o/p the string whose evaluation leads to minimum value. O/p must be lexicographically smallest if there are more than one. inp:222 o/p: 2*2+2 Explaination: 2+2+2=6 2+2*2=6 2*2+2=6 of this 3rd is lexicographically smallest. I was wondering how to construct a DP solution for this.

  • background semitransparent div

    - by plasticrabbit
I want to show some dialog (absolute positioned div), and I want to show it above semitransparent 100% div, so everything on background will be dimmed. I have managed it by <div class='transpBox'></div> .transparentBox { position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; width: 100%; height: 100%; background-color: #white; opacity: 0.9; z-index: 499; } This is all right, but when dialog height is more than browser height and you scroll down, you see that transparent div is not in full screen. What is proper way to make such thing?

  • How to make a div expand vertically to wrpa the content within it?

    - by MalcomTucker
I have a div which wraps a number of images that are generated dynamically. I don't know how high the list of images is. My problem is the div that contains the dynamically generated images doesn't behave like it is housing any content - I want it to extend to the height of the list of images. Each image is itself wrapped in a div. This is the wrapper div: .block { padding:10px; margin-top:10px; height:auto; background-color:#f9f9f9; } This is the markup dynamically generated for (one of) the images: <div class="block"> <div style="float: left; padding: 2px 2px 2px 2px;"><IMG SRC="45.jpg" BORDER="0"/></div> ..... How do I get the block div to extend down with the images? Thanks

  • Floating an inline element to the right of a div

    - by Rajat
I want to right-align an inline element to the right of a div. I have seen float="right" applied on a span to right align it but it seems semantically incorrect to me as floats are supposed to move "boxes" or block elements to the right or left of a container element. Is my understanding of Float wrong or is there another way of right-aligning inline elements in a container DIV.

  • letting absoltuely positioned area grow

    - by JCHASE11
Please see this page for reference: test page I am designing a site that has a sidebar that contains an accordion style vertical nav bar. The sidebar which contains this accordion is absolutely positioned, relative to the container that holds it. I did this so the sidebar would stay sticky to the top, bottom, and side. When you click the products button, the accordion expands well past the container, overflowing into the footer. If I floated the sidebar to the left, it would grow to accommodate the entire sidebar, but it wouldn't be sticky to the bottom of the container by default. I need a solution that allows the sidebar to be absolutely positioned, and allow growth if the accordion expands. Any Ideas? Jquery solution perhaps?

  • Problems with viewing site in Internet Exploder

    - by Kevin
I built a site and I'm just about finished. It displays properly in all the browsers I have (Safari, Chrome, and Firefox) but my client is not computer savvy at all and still uses Internet Explorer, so that's all he's using to view the site. I don't have IE to test the site so I've been using BrowserStack.com and I see in IE that the site is broken. The navigation bar has a white background and is pushed down a line, and the logo isn't appearing. Could anybody please assist me with figuring out why the site isn't displaying properly in IE, and how to fix it? Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Site: WebuildCAhomes dot com

  • How do I instantiate Class Dynamically in Java?

    - by kunjaan
I have the class name stored in a property file. I know that the classes store will implement IDynamicLoad. How do I instantiate the class dynamically? Right now I have Properties foo = new Properties(); foo.load(new FileInputStream(new File("ClassName.properties"))); String class_name = foo.getProperty("class","DefaultClass"); //IDynamicLoad newClass = Class.forName(class_name).newInstance(); Does the newInstance only load compiled .class files? How do I load a Java Class that is not compiled?
