I know from debugging that es isn't null. • Handling null values with PowerShell dates

  I'm working on a module to pull data from Oracle into a PowerShell data table, so I can automate some analysis and perform various actions based on the results. Everything seems to be working, and I'm casting columns into specific types based on the column type in Oracle. The problem I'm having has to do with null dates. I can't seem to find a good way to capture that a date column in Oracle has a null value. Is there any way to cast a [datetime] as null or empty?

  I have a problem, which should be simple to solve, but i can't find the method to call to solve this problem: My problem is, that every Task Event (org.activiti.engine.task.Event) returnes null by calling Event.getUserId(); If I take a look into the database I see that the database table ACT_HI_COMMENT has null as value for the column USER_ID_ for every row. I generate these TaskEvents programmatically by calling (for example) processEngine.getTaskService().addComment(task.getId(), null, commentMessage); processEngine.getTaskService().addUserIdentityLink(task.getId(), user.getId(), IDENTITY_LINK_OBSERVER); I guess there is a simple method that I must call to solve this problem, something like processEngine.setCurrentUser(authenticatedUser.getId()); Any suggestions?

• SQL Select between two fields depending on the value of one field

  Hi. I am using a PostgreSQL database, and in a table representing some measurements I've two columns: measurement, and interpolated. In the first I've the observation (measurement), and b is the interpolated value depending on nearby values. Every record with an original value has also an interpolated value. However, there are a lot of records without "original" observations (NULL), hence the values are interpolated and stored in the second column. So basically there are just two cases in the database: Value Value NULL Value Of course, it is preferable to use the value from the first column if available, hence I need to build a query to select the data from the first column, and if not available (NULL), then the database returns the value from the second column for the record in question. I have no idea how to build the SQL query. Please help. Thanks.

  Lately I needed to call a listener function without an actual listener like so: foo(null); private function foo(event:Event):void { //do something } So I was wondering if there is a significant difference regarding performance between this and using the following, in which I can prevent the null in calling the function without the listener, but am still able to call it with a listener as well: foo(); private function foo(event:Event = null):void { } I am not sure wether it is just a question of style, or actually bad practice and I should write two similar functions, one with and one without the event param (which seems cumbersome to me).   Two ubuntu servers: 10.0.8.2 is the client, 192.168.20.58 is the server. Between the 2 machines, Ping works, ssh works (in both directions). What does it take to get some logging so I have some idea of WHY it won't mount? • Nagios plug-in check_snmp receives NO SNMP data from a CISCO Router

  I have tried setting up Nagios on Ubuntu 10.10, successfully installed and can login to web interface, I am however stuck on configuring snmp or I am doing something wrong here, i have followed various sites / nagios wiki to setup configuration (cfg) files. When I check on the web interface, it gives the following error on one of my cisco router: Current Status: UNKNOWN (for 0d 2h 55m 56s) Status Information: SNMP problem - No data received from host CMD: /usr/bin/snmpget -t 1 -r 5 -m RFC1213-MIB -v 1 [authpriv] 192.168.1.1:161 ifOperStatus.1 On the command-line itself, when I type the following, it just sits there waiting and waiting : sudo /usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_snmp -H 192.168.1.1 -C Routers -o sysUpTime.0 When I type the following command : I get an OK /usr/bin/snmpget -v1 192.168.1.1:161 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.5.0 -c "Routers" I have configured SNMP properly on our cisco device as we can collect SNMP Data via two other monitoring tool (SolarWinds and Manage Engine), we are tempted towards Nagios as its opensource. Will be grateful if someone could assist in rectifying this situation and guide me with setting up nagios to monitor Cisco Routers, Switches and a Few Servers. • MICR / Check printing

  I want to print my own checks on blank stock from Quicken and QuickBooks. To do so, I need a virtual driver that intercepts the print output from Quicken formats the fields properly, and adds the MICR text at the bottom of the check. This is for Windows 7 or OS X. I have looked at the following: CHAX Works, but crashes a LOT. Not giving me confidence. It is also expensive. VersaCheck Looks promising but looks like it suffers severe feature bloat. I just want to print check and deposit slips, thank you. Ganson Is only for high volume really. It is also designed for batch use vs I just want to print to a virtual printer. More than $2500. GnuMICR is more of a science project. Not yet ready to use and has not been updated for years. There are a lot of solutions on the web, so please don't just google for me. I am looking for specific experience with good solid check printing solution. Thanks!!!

  I have tried to use spell check for aquamac. I highlighted a region of the text. Then clicked Edit, then spell check region. I got the error message: Error : No word lists can be found for the language "en_US". Then I went to the website to download the following dictionaries: CocoAspell : I just clicked the download button. It was reported that the download was successful. However, when I tested it and highlighted a text region and clicked spell check. The same error message came out. Do I need to pull the downloaded .pkg to a certain place, such as the application folder, before I opened the .pkg? Or what else do I need to do make it work? I also downloaded the base package Aspell (for Intel) and the pre-built dictionaries as (as the instruction of the website), just the same way as point 1. I still got the same error message.   I'm querying some signal level values measured in dBm, and the SNMP host on the remove device reports the values as negative values, ie, -90 dBm. However, check-snmp seems to be incapable of dealing with negative numbers as part of its threshold values. • How to change the spell checking language in Chromium?

  When write I need spell checking in Danish or English (one at a time, not both at the same time), but changing from one language to the other is not working well for me. Example: Writing an email in English, everything is underlined as misspelled because the spelling language is set to Danish. I then right-click the text field and choose "Spell-checker Options" and set the language to English. But is does not change the language. Only after I try maybe 4-5 times it does. Selecting the text, clicking it, clicking the background, click the text, I have tried it all but I cannot figure out how it works. Sometimes it changes on first try, sometimes I have to do it 6-7 times. Searching brings lots of a known bugs stating that Chromium does not re-check the text after changing the language. But that is not what drives me crazy, for starters being able to change the language in the first try would be nice. It is not a fault in my installation, I have the same problem on 3 computers. Does any know something that I don't?

• MS Word custom dictionary making spellcheck slow - ideas?

  I have a user who edits technical materials. She uses MS Word's Custom Dictionary all the time for spelling; it has grown very large, and is now making spell check very slow. All of the advice I've read online says to disable the custom dictionary. This is an easy solution, but is not workable for the user, because she actually needs this dictionary. So, is there any way to optimize the custom dictionary and/or Word itself, so that a large dictionary file doesn't slow things down quite so badly? Many thanks. Update after suggestions: I ran contig on the file, and it reports just 1 frag, so that's not the issue I think. The file is 9.95KB -- 1,117 lines, each consisting of just a single word. I viewed the file using Notepad and none of the lines seems corrupted, strange, or overly long (no line seems to be over 10 chars or so). Both of your suggestions were helpful so I will upvote both; any further tips would be most welcome.

• .bat file - Nagios v3.2 service check and start if stopped

  I'm just barely getting into programming so I do apologize for my ignorance. I'm trying to create a .bat file that will check if a service is running on XP Pro. If service is running it will exit 0. If the service is stopped start service wait 10 seconds (via ping i'm guessing) check if service is running if service is running exit 0 if service is stopped start service wait 10 seconds Do this check a total of 3 times. if service does not come up within that time: exit 2 Exit 0 = ok exit 1 = warning exit 3 = critical (and this will alert) I need to do this for 3 different services but i'm expecting that it would be better to create one per service. That way you get notified on the specific service that is not coming back up. The goal is that if the service stops it will start it. If after 30 seconds it is unable to start the service then it will send an alert. The reason I'm trying to do it with a .bat is this is consistent with all other scripts and I did not want to complicate it further by adding different kinds of code. Yay for consistency! Again I do apologize for my ignorance I've been thrown into this project last minute. Thank you for the help and reading my question!

  I receive back a good oauth_verifier value from the server, but it is not being passed on via the ProcessUserAuthorization call to the access_token endpoint. • Testing Django Inline ModelForms: How to arrange POST data?

  Hi folks, I have a Django 'add business' view which adds a new business with an inline 'business_contact' form. The form works fine, but I'm wondering how to write up the unit test - specifically, the 'postdata' to send to self.client.post(settings.BUSINESS_ADD_URL, postdata) I've inspected the fields in my browser and tried adding post data with corresponding names, but I still get a 'ManagementForm data is missing or has been tampered with' error when run. Anyone know of any resources for figuring out how to post inline data? Relevant models, views & forms below if it helps. Lotsa thanks. • Problem with ColdFusion communicating with MySQL database

  Hi, I have been working to migrate a non-profit website from a local server (running Windows XP) to a GoDaddy hosting account (running Linux). Most of the pages are written in ColdFusion. Things have gone smoothly, up until this point. There is a flash form within the site (see this page: http://www.preservenet.cornell.edu/employ/submitjob.cfm) which, when completed, takes the visitor to this page: submitjobaction.cfm . I'm not quite sure what to make of this error, since I copied exactly what had been in the old MySQL database, and the .cfm files are exactly as they had been when they worked on the old server. Am I missing something? Below is the code from the database that the error seems to be referring to. When I change "Positionlat" to some default value in the database as it suggests in the error, it says that another field needs a default value, and it's a neverending chain of errors as I try to correct it. This is probably a stupid error that I'm missing, but I've been working at it for days and can't find what I'm missing. I would really appreciate any help. • Linux servers going into Halt when pressing Control-D in putty or exit in the shell

  Since today at noon, there's a number of Linux CentOS servers which are going to Halt whenever i type exit or use Control-D to close the putty window. Did anyone encounter this weird behavior before? I've checked the aliases list on the servers and there is no alias regarding halt command. After the server came online i've checked the history and saw a "logout" command there but nothing which is related to Halt. At first, i thought it happens only from my computer but later i realized that it happens to everyone which types exit, logout or control+d. 2 of these server are our main iptables firewalls and so it's super critical, your assistance is much appreciated. • ASP.NET WebControl ITemplate child controls are null

  Here is what I want: I want a control to put on a page, which other developers can place form elements inside of to display the entities that my control is searching. I have the Searching logic all working. The control builds custom search fields and performs searches based on declarative C# classes implementing my SearchSpec interface. Here is what I've been trying: I've tried using ITemplate on a WebControl which implements INamingContainer I've tried implementing a CompositeControl The closest I can get to working is below. However, they are all null. Furthermore, FindControl("ownerBox") returns null as does this.sp1.FindControl("ownerBox"). I have to do this.sp1.MyTemplateContainer.FindControl("ownerBox") to get the control. How can I make it so that the C# Code Behind will have the controls generated and not null in my Page_Load event so that developers can just do this: testNameBox.Text = "foo"; ownerBox.Text = "bar"; descriptionBox.Text = "baz";
