  • Android inserting into SQLite JSON object

    I'm trying to insert the below json response from a server into my sqlite DB and then read from the DB. The problem I am getting is that when I run my code it compiles fine and runs with no errors. But when trying to read from the DB I just get back what seems like an empty string so I know that the table is being created. I have the correct permissions within the manifest. I have also reference all my classes within there. {"locations": [{"locations":"Newcastle","location_id":"1"},{"locations":"London","location_id":"2"},{"locations":"Sunderland","location_id":"3"}]} Below where I use: Log.v("one", one); Log.v("two", two); below It only prints out the first set within the JSON object so Newcastle and 1. I don't get any errors at all which is stumping me.   • How to manipulate data after its retrieved via remote database

    So I've used code examples from all over the net and got my app to accurately call a .php file on my server, retrieve the JSON data, then parse the data, and print it. The problem is that its just printing to the screen for sake of the tutorial I was following, but now I need to use that data in other places and need help figuring out that process. The ultimate goal is to return my db query with map coordinates, then plot them on a google map. What I have to figure out is how to get the data into something I can reference in other spots in the program, and access the individual elements ie: double longitude = jArray.getJSONObject(3).longitude; or something to that effect.. I figure the class getServerData will have to return a Array type or something? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

  • Doing XML extracts with XSLT without having to read the whole DOM tree into memory?

    I have a situation where I want to extract some information from some very large but regular XML files (just had to do it with a 500 Mb file), and where XSLT would be perfect. Unfortunately those XSLT implementations I am aware of (except the most expensive version of Saxon) does not support only having the necessary part of the DOM read in but reads in the whole tree. This cause the computer to swap to death. The XPath in question is //m/e[contains(.,'foobar') so it is essentially just a grep. Is there an XSLT implementation which can do this? Or an XSLT implementation which given suitable "advice" can do this trick of pruning away the parts in memory which will not be needed again? I'd prefer a Java implementation but both Windows and Linux are viable native platforms. EDIT: It appears that STX may be what I am looking for (I can live with another transformation language), and that Joost is an implementation hereof. Any experiences? EDIT: I found that Saxon 6.5.4 with -Xmx1500m could load my XML, so this allowed me to use my XPaths right now. This is just a lucky stroke so I'd still like to solve this generically - this means scriptable which in turn means no handcrafted Java filtering first. EDIT: Oh, by the way. This is a log file very similar to what is generated by the log4j XMLLayout. The reason for XML is to be able to do exactly this, namely do queries on the log. This is the initial try, hence the simple question. Later I'd like to be able to ask more complex questions - therefore I'd like the query language to be able to handle the input file.

  • HELP!! Delayed-job: Rake aborted! Can't modify frozen hash

    Too bad even the trace doesn't say which hash is involved. Sorry this post is long: am trying to provide enough context to be meaningful. Occurs intermittently when rake jobs:work is pulling a command out of delayed_jobs while my status observer is in the process of parsing a log file for detailed results of the previous delayed_job denizen. I have an observer class (in RAILS_ROOT/lib ) which listens for the events, makes a copy of them and calls the owner class ( in apps/models ) which then calls on the log parser (also in /lib) to do the actual work. (Should both of those classes, the observer and the parser be in app/models?) Am due to deliver this application in a few days and this is killing it (and me). Am using DirectoryWatcher to look for flag files that indicate the start and finish of the delayed_jobs.   • HELP!! Rake aborted! Can't modify frozen hash

    Too bad even the trace doesn't say which hash is involved. Sorry this post is long: am trying to provide enough context to be meaningful. Occurs intermittently when rake jobs:work is pulling a command out of delayed_jobs while my status observer is in the process of parsing a log file for detailed results of the previous delayed_job denizen. I have an observer class (in RAILS_ROOT/lib ) which listens for the events, makes a copy of them and calls the owner class ( in apps/models ) which then calls on the log parser (also in /lib) to do the actual work. (Should both of those classes, the observer and the parser be in app/models?) Am due to deliver this application in a few days and this is killing it (and me). Am using DirectoryWatcher to look for flag files that indicate the start and finish of the delayed_jobs.   • Spring's EntityManager not persisting

    Well, my project was using EJB and JPA (with Hibernate), but I had to switch to Spring. Everything was working well before that. The EJB used to inject the EntityManager, controled the transaction, etc. Ok, when I switched to Spring, I had a lot of problems because I'm new on Spring. But after everything is running, I have the problem: the data is never saved on database. I configured my Spring to control the transactions, I have spring beans used in JSF, that has spring services that do the hard work. This services have a EntityManager injected and use @Transactional REQUIRED. This services pass the EntityManager to a DAO that call entityManager.persist(bean). The selects appears to work well, the JTA transaction appears to work well to (I saw in log), but the entity is not saved!   • Problem running Apache-Tomcat on every web browser installed in Windows 7

    Hello everyone, I'm working on a web application in JSP and my web container is Apache Tomcat 7.0.2 (Its portable cross-platform version). As I've made extensive use of HTML5-CSS3 and my target browser is Google Chrome, I'm able to run the the Apache server only in Opera web browser, neither of the remaining installed browser run it. Here's the steps I have followed to start the server in my Windows 7 machine. -Placing the 'apache-tomcat-7.0.2' directory on my root partition (i.e. C: Drive) -Execute 'startup.bat' from 'bin' directory in it. (startup.sh if on Linux/Unix). -Then, a Console window opens that shows log during the setup of server (separately from Command Prompt), and I need to keep that console running in order to keep the Apache server running, so I minimize it. -Then, I open 'http://localhost:8080/' in various web browsers, and I could see Apache Server Homepage with same address only in Opera Web Browser (11.01), neither of other browsers installed can open it (Chrome 9, Firefox 4 Beta 10 or IE8). -I also tried other port numbers, but none of them worked. What can I do to make Apache run in every browser installed in my computer? I have my computer dual boot with Windows 7 and Ubuntu 10.10, and in Ubuntu, every web browser installed can run Apache once I start it, but same is not working in Windows.

    Some wireless access points are acting a little weird, so I want to reboot them every couple of hours. Luckily there exists a security flaw which lets me login as root through telnet when using port 1111 (without username and password). Now I want to use that to let my QNAP NAS execute the reboot command through telnet every now and then. The problem is however that that telnet version doesn't give any response if I connect to the AP. The telnet I use on OSX works just fine but the one on the NAS not. BusyBox v1.01 (2012.06.14-18:35+0000) multi-call binary Usage: telnet [-a] [-l USER] HOST [PORT] When I execute telnet <HOST> 1111 nothing happens. I can send the escape character ^] which gives me the following options: Console escape. Commands are: l go to line mode c go to character mode z suspend telnet e exit telnet The only way to get some commands executed is by suspending telnet with z followed by some random command which isn't recognized. Then the prompt shows this: # telnet 192.168.1.5 1111 ^] Console escape. Commands are: l go to line mode c go to character mode z suspend telnet e exit telnet z continuing... asdf Illegal command. 00> After that I am able to communicate with the AP, but when I exit the telnet session and try the same again, the AP refuses to connect at all and it must be manually rebooted (looks like the telnet session isn't shut down properly on the AP). So the question is what commands should I execute in order to communicate with the AP using the Busybox telnet version of the QNAP? (No, can't use ssh unfortunately)

    Hi, I have an (old) SMC-001 IPMI device on an (old) X6DVL-EG2 motherboard. My problem is that I cannot access the BMC from LAN. I'm also getting some interesting output from ipmitool. First, the setup. I enable Console Redirection in the BIOS, turn BIOS Redirection after POSt to "disabled". I then modprobe'ed for ipmi_msghandler, ipmi_devintf and ipmi_si. I then found ipmi0 under /dev. So far so good. Since I want console redirection over serial, I modified /boot/grub/menu.lst: http://pastebin.com/YYJmhusQ I then modified "/etc/inittab" as follows: S1:12345:respawn:/sbin/agetty -L 19200 ttyS1 ansi Networking I set as following, using "ipmitool" ipaddr: 192.168.3.164 netmask: 255.255.255.0 defgw: 192.168.3.1 The above are correct for my environment. To test it I do: ipmitool -I open chassis power off which responds by powering off the machine.   • How do I prevent Pidgin from loading XMPP chat room history on join?

    In Pidgin, when I join a chat room, it loads the chat room history. iChat on the Mac has a preference in the Accounts section to set a variable amount of history to load, or disable loading history entirely. How do I do the same thing in Pidgin? Is there a preference somewhere that I've missed? The object is to have the chat room start fresh each day, so I'd also be fine with disabling chat room history entirely on the server if that's possible. But I didn't see that option either when I looked in Server Admin on the server. I found this list of XMPP room types, and it looks like creating a Temporary Room might be the best way to do this, but I don't want to have to create the room manually every morning. Right now I've got Pidgin set to auto-join the room when I log in; I want it to do that without loading history. EDIT: The XMPP multi-user chat spec referenced above also contains a section on managing history. And I got this to work by pulling up the XMPP Console plugin in Pidgin, copying the <presence /> stanza it sent when I joined the room, closing the room, pasting the stanza into the console, adding the <history /> element and sending it. When I opened the room again, I had no history. But it all came back the next time! So: how do I get Pidgin to send the <history /> stanza by default?

    I have a Windows 2008 R2 Standard (64 bit) running in a virtual machine. Suddenly from yesterday onwards I am not able to login as administrator. Nobody changed the password. Both in the console as well as using remote desktop I am unable to login. Whenever I login as Administrator I am getting this error: "The user name or password is incorrect" Nothing has changed in the machine and I have logged in the past successfully both through console and via remote desktop several time on the same machine. One strange behaviour I noticed is, I am seeing some additional user accounts if I try to login as other user. The suspicious user account are: sky$ admin$ SUPPORT_388945a0 Is it created by some malware/virus? Or is it some windows hidden account? Microsoft site says that SUPPORT_388945a0 is: The Support_388945a0 account enables Help and Support Service interoperability with signed scripts. This account is primarily used to control access to signed scripts that are accessible from within Help and Support Services. Administrators can use this account to delegate the ability for an ordinary user, who does not have administrative access over a computer, to run signed scripts from links embedded within Help and Support Services. These scripts can be programmed to use the Support_388945a0 account credentials instead of the user’s credentials to perform specific administrative operations on the local computer that otherwise would not be supported by the ordinary user’s account. When the delegated user clicks on a link in Help and Support Services, the script executes under the security context of the Support_388945a0 account. This account has limited access to the computer and is disabled by default. However I am not sure from where this "admin$" and "sky$" came. Anyone has similar experience?

I'm able to display common graphs in Cacti (such as memory usage, load average, logged in users, etc) using the data templates listed as Unix. Now I want to replace these graphs with new ones using SNMP data sources, because I see there is also CPU usage and because it's not excluded I have to manage multiple hosts in the future. So, I installed snmpd on the machine and left the snmpd.conf as it is. In Cacti, I created three new data sources from SNMP templates for 127.0.0.1 host: ucd/net - CPU Usage - Nice ucd/net - CPU Usage - System ucd/net - CPU Usage - User Then I created a new graph from template ucd/net - CPU Usage, and select the three data sources in the Graph Item Fields section. Graph is now enabled and running, but empty. No data have been collected.   • Reboot fails with "Invalid partition"

    My laptop can't reboot. Any time something restarts the laptop (e.g. to apply Windows updates, or Start Menu-Restart, etc), the computer sits at a black screen with the message "Invalid partition" displayed in console text. When this happens, I power off the computer, then power it back on, and it boots up fine. OK, now the history behind this: This laptop is a new Dell. The day I got it, I used gparted to reclaim 30 GB of disk space that had been allocated to a "recovery partition" in the middle of the laptop's primary drive. (I have DVDs for recovery and I didn't want to waste 30 GB of SSD space on recovery data.) So I used gparted to delete the recovery partition and resize the primary Windows partition to use up the new free space. As expected when resizing a boot partition, the computer would no longer boot. I used Windows Recovery Console to fix the boot process: FIXMBR C: FIXBOOT C: BOOTCFG /rebuild This worked fine and the computer boots up fine. But, as mentioned earlier, the laptop still can't reboot. Any idea on how to fix this without completely reformatting the disk and reinstalling Windows from scratch? It's Windows 7.

  • Ubuntu 10.04 Server on Hyper-V Server R2 has sluggish install and command line

    I've installed Ubuntu Server 10.04 (64 bit) on a Hyper-V Server R2. I've encountered two issues that I think are related: Very slow install Very slow command prompt The text-mode installer goes through a series of text-based prompt windows. It takes 7-10 seconds for each of these windows to draw on the screen. The end result is that every time I answer a prompt and hit enter I wait for 15 seconds while the screen redraws line by line. I can literally see each line of text being drawn (like the old 300 baud modems days). Once done installing, scrolling on the command line is super slow. For instance, if a simple command, like "ls", causes the screen to scroll, it will scroll very slowly. This happens on a fresh install. The server functions as a LAMP server and an OpenSSH server, but that's it (I don't even have any Virtual Hosts set up yet). AND this only happens on the Virtual Machine console. I access the console through Hyper-V Manager and don't have this problem on any of my other Virtual Machines. Also, this problem does NOT happen when accessing a shell through OpenSSH. How can I improve this performance issue?

  • Change XRDP keyboard layout to en-gb Ubuntu 12.04

    Does anybody know how to change the keyboard layout to en-gb in an XRDP session on Ubuntu 12.04? I am using mstsc.exe to connect to an XRDP server hosting an XVNC session, however I cannot work out how to apply the UK keyboard layout. A bit of googling has yeilded these instructions which allow me to change the keymap, however using the keymap file I downloaded from here I loose the ability to use the arrow keys, home/end etc. Comparing the file with the standard one there are substantially more differences than I would expect considering the similarity between the layouts. I only have RDP access to the box so i don't seem to be able to actually generate a new layout per the instructions above, maybe it's a local console thing? Also I can't change either the RDP client used or the RDP server as they are my only access to the system, I don't have local console access. I do have root priveleges on the OS however. Any thoughts? Edit: I have found http:// xrdp.sourceforge.net/documents/keymap/newkeymap.html (apologies for not typing the link properly but the antispam filter won't let me post more than 2 links) this documentation on the XRDP sourceforge page which describes keymap file format. It indicates the values in the keymap files are unicode 0x64 etc, however the files I have already on my system seem to use a different format 0:0 or 65307:27 etc, does anybody know what the difference is?

  • Cisco ASA: How to route PPPoE-assigned subnet?

    We've just received a fiber uplink, and I'm trying to configure our Cisco ASA 5505 to properly use it. The provider requires us to connect via PPPoE, and I managed to configure the ASA as a PPPoE client and establish a connection. The ASA is assigned an IP address by PPPoE, and I can ping out from the ASA to the internet, but I should have access to an entire /28 subnet. I can't figure out how to get that subnet configured on the ASA, so that I can route or NAT the available public addresses to various internal hosts. My assigned range is: 188.xx.xx.176/28 The address I get via PPPoE is 188.xx.xx.177/32, which according to our provider is our Default Gateway address. They claim the subnet is correctly routed to us on their side. How does the ASA know which range it is responsible for on the Fiber interface? How do I use the addresses from my range? To clarify my config; The ASA is currently configured to default-route to our ADSL uplink on port Ethernet0/0 (interface vlan2, nicknamed Outside). The fiber is connected to port Ethernet0/2 (interface vlan50, nicknamed Fiber) so I can configure and test it before making it the default route. Once I'm clear on how to set it all up, I'll fully replace the Outside interface with Fiber.   • PHP scripts randomly becoming really slow to respond - Database lockup?

    Hi All, I wasn't sure whether to post this here or on stackoverflow, so apologies if its in the wrong place. I have about 7 php scripts running on a centOS VPS. Each of these scripts contacts a game server and processes the logs, with the logs it either does some database queries or sends info back to the game server. I am having an issue where some of the scripts will randomly become REALLY slow to respond and I don't know where to start with my debugging. Each script connects to its own database schema but on the same MySQL server. Each script will do about 4 inserts per second and twice as many select statements on their respective databases. I thought a database lockup may cause the issue but some console messages that are read from the database are sent to the game servers console without issue every 30 seconds, even when the script is slow to responding to other commands. Non of the scripts are using a lot of memory or CPU power. About 0.1% each. I know this information is really vague but I don't know linux very well at all (in fact, top is about my limit) and I really don't know where to start debugging this. Thanks.

  • Amazon EC2 instance was not available for few minutes (amazon showed that everything ok)

    Few minutes ago my amazon Ec2 instance was unavailable for a few minutes. During this time neither I was able to connect to web-site with http, nor I was able to ssh to it. Also I was not able to connect to my amazon management console for some time (less than amount of unavailability of my instance). When I was able to connect to management console, it was showing me that everything is running smoothly (but I still was not able to connect to instance in any way for a minute or two). During this time I have checked their status page just to see that there is no issues (my instance is in Ireland and there is nothing wrong there today). After that I was able to log in. I checked my logins with last to see that no one except me was logging in. I also looked in apache logs and there was no errors or warnings during this time. Right now when I see my amazon monitor, I see a small spike in CPU in last 15 minutes (but this is from 10% to like 20%) I have no idea what can it be (I have never experienced anything like this before) and therefore I have no idea how scared should I be or what else should I look for. Can anyone give me a hint what my actions should be in such situation?

  • Talk on multiple IRC channels at once?

    I seem to remember, back in '91 or so, that the console-based IRCII implemention on the Solaris box that first got me on the net would let me /Join multiple channels on a given network such that, as new channels were joined, they would start scrolling to the single console view. Let's call it the 'interleaved conversation' chat paradigm. Am I rembering this correctly? More importantly, is there a modern way of doing this in any of the GUI-based clients? I'm surprised this isn't a common desire/feature because I think it would greatly improve the experience, especially on channels with high SNR. For example, If I'm working on a project I may connect to Freenode and join : #Qt,#OpenGL,#C++. As it is now, with mIRC,Xchat, I have to manually flip between pages just to see whats being said and to reply. What I envision would go more like this (using only 2 channels for simplicity) /join #QT #OpenGL < [QT] QtChannelUser: Hello TwoPixelGrid. < [OpenGL] OpenGLChannelUser: Hi there TwoPixelGrid. @QT: Hi QtChannelUser @OpenGL: Hello againOpenGLChannelUser And this message is going out to all my channels.
