Trying to created a tabled layout won't work with CSS

Hello, I'm trying to recreate a sort of table layout of a contact form. Here's the current form: http://www.radonsystems.net/contact-us and this is what the work-in-progress is like http://www.radonsystems.net/newsite/?do=contact-us As you can see, there is an issue with the second form - I just don't know how to fix it. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? The style (CSS) for that part, is nearly 100% copied over, only that I've changed the font, but kept within same family.

nth-of-type only working for 1 and 2

I have a styling problem, I am using WordPress and want to do have the first two classes completely different to the others. My ideal situation is to have: .si-biplace:nth-of-type(3) { float:left; margin:20px 0px 0px 0px; } .si-image:nth-of-type(3) { float:left; margin:20px 0px 0px 0px; border:0px; } .si-title:nth-of-type(3) { width:100px; height:20px; margin:0px; font-size:7px; color:#FFFFFF; font-weight:bold; } They seem to work fine when it is: .si-biplace { float:left; margin:-10px 0px 0px 0px; } .si-biplace:nth-of-type(2) { float:left; margin:-10px 0px 0px 15px; } Is there a reason why it will not work with nth-of-type(3) but will with nth of type 2? I basically want different attributes for every next time the div is used but cannot have separate div classes as it runs through a php array.

Vertically center CSS techniques don't work in Chrome

I've gone through stackoverflow questions and a whole bunch of articles on vertically centering text like the following: http://blog.themeforest.net/tutorials/vertical-centering-with-css/ None of the techniques seem to work with the latest version of Chrome. Is that just the nature of Chrome? My text just always appears at the top. It seems that whenever I use 50% or 100% as values for CSS's height or top, nothing happens. I just need a single line of text vertically centered. line-height isn't helpful because I want it centered in the middle of the browser window... I don't know how tall the browser window is going to be. UPDATE: The problem is apparently Foundation 4. Once I delete the following everything works as expected: <link href="/assets/foundation_and_overrides.css?body=1" media="screen" rel="stylesheet" /> Any idea on how to make it work with Foundation 4?

contenteditable element prevents hyperlink default behavior

I've got the following problem. In IE if a contenteditable element is nested inside a hyperlink, clicking on the element prevents the hyperlink default behavior, i.e. navigation to another document. In FF it works fine. How can I solve the problem? Just removing the contentEditable attribute is not a solution since I want this behavior (navigation to another document) only when user clicks the content-editable element with pressed Ctrl key. Thanks.

Escaping and unescaping a string with single and double quotes in Javascript

I have a search box that a user can search for any string including single AND double quotes, once they have searched, the backend is passing the keyword back to me so I can put it back in the box. I don't know what the string is so I can't escape quotes myself, below is an example: var keyword = "hello"; $("#selectionkeywords").val(); The issue I am having is that if the user enters "hello" the keyword becomes ""hello"" and I get this error: missing ) after argument list [Break On This Error] jQuery("#selectionkeywords").val(""hello""); The user could also enter single quotes so that rules it out as well. I tried using escape unescape but I still have the same issue e.g. escape(""hello"") I could get the value in an unescaped format e.g. "hello" but I don't know what to do with it, escape doesn't work on it I end up with this %26%23034%3Bhello%26%23034%3B So I'm pretty much stuck at the moment as I can't do anything to the string, any ideas?

Hi, I have style applied to the TD elements of the dataTable of my myfaces application. td.financialReportTd { font-family: Arial; font-size: 12px; line-height: 12px; color:black; background-color: white; padding-right: 5px; text-align: right; border:0px black solid; height: 30px; padding-top:4px; padding-left:4px; vertical-align: top; direction: rtl; } Output: <td class="financialReportTd">                 MY TEXT </td> No matter what I try, those NBSP tags fill up the TD and position of the text changes to the worse. I tried style text-align:right; (I need RTL text), I tried direction: rtl; Nothing helps. How can I align my text to the very right of the TD and avoid those space tags?

sub menu border calls onmouseout event

I've created a simple menu and submenu with tags(not allowed to use ul elements). To access the submenu the user hovers their mouse over the menu item. I use the onmouseover and onmouseout events to either show or hide the sub menu depending on which item is selected. A pipe (|) is used to seperate each submenu item and this is what is causing me problems. When a user hovers their mouse above the pipe character the subMenu div calls the onmouseout event which is not what I want. So I added padding around the pipe character and a minus margin so that there were no gaps between the pipe character and the other elements. This worked for all browsers including IE8. jQuery + form + textinput > Is it possible to display one value in a textinput and submit another?

I'm working on an application where dates are passed as yyyy-mm-dd but displayed to the client as mm-dd-yyyy (US based client). I'm using a jQuery datepicker for selecting from/to dates in a report and would like to show the dates to the client as mm-dd-yyyy but when the form is submitted, submit as yyyy-mm-dd. Is it possible to display one value in a textinput textbox and have another submitted without needing to hook into onSubmit? I've come up with the following alternatives: Hide the text input for the from and to fields, create dummy fields and make use of the following jQuery date picker functions: altField and altFormat to display the value to the client in their preferred way and deal only with the submitted values which are set through the alt functions. Have an onSubmit javascript call to change the dates from mm-dd-yyyy to dd-mm-yyyy and also change the value=" to change the date to the client's preferred format. Rewrite the app to handle all dates in mm-dd-yyyy and hope the client never has non-US customers that would like their dates in a specific format. Change all dates to dd-Mon-YYYY e.g. 26-May-2010 as all of our client's customers are guaranteed to be English only.

Hi guys, I'm developing a Flash website (as3) where I need to be able to upload directly to YouTube by using the DATA API. However in order to do so, I had to use a proper HTML form on top of my flash object. Why? Because of the Browser Based Upload restictions. I first hide the form using JQuery and with a little CSS the form is display just where I want it. Within flash I use ExternalInterface.call() to show/hide the form when I need it! ExternalInterface.call("YTUploader.showIt"); The upload process is working great my only problem is that the form can be displayed easily... You just need a tool like firebug and you can use the form wherever you want on my flash app. So I was wandering which will be the best way to 'protect' this form or the best way to limit its access. Any advices will be appreciated. Thanks for your time. Jk.

How do I find the previous/default value of a radio button in JS?

I'm not sure if this is even possible, but I figured I'd ask before clubbing togehter an ugly solution. What I have is a group of radio buttons and I want to trigger a function if the radio button value is changed. For example say there are three buttons X Y and Z with Y default selected. If a user clicks on an unselected button (i.e. X or Z) then the function gets triggered but if he/she clicks on Y (which is already selected) nothing happens. Naturally the best solution would be to fire the function on an onchange event but IE6 doesn't fire onchange until the focus is no longer on the element which is not satisfactory. So is there a way to know what the previous value of the radio button was or at least what its default value is? I could easily create an array of default values and check against that but I'm trying to reduce the overhead. Please no jQuery suggestions ;)

I have two fields which calculate a total, but I have a radio button pair that determines a variable within the equation. Hi there, i have a very simple question about Google Maps API. In this case, i have on my page a map on the left, with about 40 points, and the list of these 40 points on the right. So you know, when you click on a point of the map, the "info window" is displayed so you can see some informations about it. I can't find how can i do to simply open the "info window" on the map, by making a "hover" on the corresponding link. I can't fix a broken image in Internet Explorer

Hi All, I have a broken image in IE that I can't seem to fix. I have tried everything I could think of so far. It works just fine in all browsers except IE. hello, my main question is as follows: how to show only the first subchild of a ul or li upon clicking the enclosing parent. eg: <ul> Grandparent <li> Child1 <li> Grandchild11</li></li> <li> Child2 <li>GrandChild21</li><li>grandchild22</li></li> </ul> so, for example I would like something to the effect of <script> $('ul').click(function(){ $('ul').children('first li').toggle() }); $('li').click(function(){ $('li').children('first li').toggle() }); </script> meaning: when i click ul, i only see the first child node (child1 and child2 will be shown, but not the grandchildren). when i click child1 or child2 i see the respective grandchild. grandchild is not shown upon clicking grandparent, only upon clicking child1 or child2. i know i am reinventing the wheel of some pre-coded solution, but any help would be largely appreciated!
