    I have this subclass of UIScrollView: @interface MyScrollView : UIScrollView <UIScrollViewDelegate> And I have those delegate methods - (void)scrollViewDidEndZooming:(UIScrollView *)aScrollView withView:(UIView *)view atScale(float)aScale{ NSLog(@"zoomed"); } - (UIView *)viewForZoomingInScrollView:(UIScrollView *)aScrollView{ NSLog(@"willzoom"); } When I zoom in MyScrollView viewForZoomingInScrollView is called but scrollViewDidEndZooming never gets called. Any idea why??

    I have written an O/R database wrapper that generates some wrapper methods for stored procs it reads from the database. Now I need to produce some custom wrapper code if an input parameter of a stored proc is defaulted to NULL. The problem is - I get stored proc parameters using: SqlCommandBuilder.DeriveParameters(command) and it doesn't bring parameter defaults. Is there any way to look up those defaults? Are they stored anywhere in the database? BTW, I'm using SQL Server 2008

    I'm trying to learn lubridate. The lubridate documentation shows: date <- ceiling_date(date, "month") - days(1) [1] "2010-05-31 UTC for date arithmetic. But if I try mytoday <- now() first_of_month <- floor_date(mytoday, "month") first_of_month_last_year <- first_of_month - years(1) to use date arithmetic to get the first of the month a year earlier I get an error message Warning message: Incompatible methods ("-.POSIXt", "Ops.ordered") for "-" Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?     I've been using utorrent to download and upload torrents for a long time. Recently someone told me that I need to open port(s) for utorrent from my modem settings for better downloading and uploading performance. Is it true? If yes, how can I do that? My utorrent version: 2.0 and the port used for incoming connections: 61829. My modem: Yaksu S200 ADSL router modem and I can reach its settings via web interface. I looked at the settings but they seem a bit complicated to me. Other info you may need to know: I have dynamic IP. I'm using Win7 x64.

  • Switch smarthosts in Exchange when using dual WAN

    Hi everybody, I'd like to know if it's possible to setup Exchange 2003/2007 to switch between smarthosts, based on the WAN connection currently in use. Example scenario: I have two WAN connections with different ISP's. Exchange is running behind a dual WAN router. The router is setup to fall back to secondary WAN when primary WAN fails. The smarthost set in Exchange is the SMTP server of the primary ISP. Because the smarthost set in Exchange only allows relaying from IP's of the primary WAN sending mail won't work when the router falls back to the secondary WAN. Sending mail directly through DNS MX lookup is an option but the ISP's have dynamic IP's that get blacklisted a lot. Thanks in advance!

    I get this error. The procedure entry php_mb_check_encoding_list could not be located in the dynamic link library php_mbstring.dll The error is related to the php.ini settings, I think.. It finds it difficult to locate the extension I suspect, I put an environment path to the php.exe and its extensions folder, but when I run the command line and call php.exe, that error is being thrown. I use windows. I have got this set in my php.ini. ; On windows: extension_dir = "C:\xampp\php\ext" I installed xampp.. the php version is the latest.. Another thing which is weird is when I try to print out: phpinfo..nothing is being printed out <?php echo phpinfo(); ?> nothing comes out?!?! The question is why and how can I prevent it from being thrown..

  • Set Error-Pages for all Applications in Tomcat

    I'm trying to set up custom error pages in tomcat 6, because I don't want the default ones to show up. My error pages are static html, no jsp or anything dynamic. I know how to do this through the web.xml in each application but I'd prefere to setup the error pages only once for the entire server. I tried to add the following fragment to the global web.xml (in conf), but no matter what I add under location, it does not show. <error-page> <error-code>404</error-code> <location>/404.html</location> </error-page> What do I need to do to gobally define custom error pages?     I would like to enable the openssl extension in php.ini. I uncommented the extension=php_openssl.dll restarted apache service, but it still doesn't works. In the apache error log I've found PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'C:/Program Files (x86)/mypath/php/ext\\php_openssl.dll' - The operating system cannot run %1.\r\n in Unknown on line 0 I tried to follow some tutorials which said that I have to copy ssleay32.dll and libeay32.dll to the windows/system32 directory, but it still doesn't works. Does anyone know how to install it properly?

  • Java language features which have no equivalent in C#

    Having mostly worked with C#, I tend to think in terms of C# features which aren't available in Java. After working extensively with Java over the last year, I've started to discover Java features that I wish were in C#. Below is a list of the ones that I'm aware of. Can anyone think of other Java language features which a person with a C# background may not realize exists? The articles http://www.25hoursaday.com/CsharpVsJava.html and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Java_and_C_Sharp give a very extensive list of differences between Java and C#, but I wonder whether I missed anything in the (very) long articles. I can also think of one feature (covariant return type) which I didn't see mentioned in either article. Please limit answers to language or core library features which can't be effectively implemented by your own custom code or third party libraries. Covariant return type - a method can be overridden by a method which returns a more specific type. Useful when implementing an interface or extending a class and you want a method to override a base method, but return a type more specific to your class. Enums are classes - an enum is a full class in java, rather than a wrapper around a primitive like in .Net. Java allows you to define fields and methods on an enum. Anonymous inner classes - define an anonymous class which implements a method. Although most of the use cases for this in Java are covered by delegates in .Net, there are some cases in which you really need to pass multiple callbacks as a group. It would be nice to have the choice of using an anonymous inner class. Checked exceptions - I can see how this is useful in the context of common designs used with Java applications, but my experience with .Net has put me in a habit of using exceptions only for unrecoverable conditions. I.E. exceptions indicate a bug in the application and are only caught for the purpose of logging. I haven't quite come around to the idea of using exceptions for normal program flow. strictfp - Ensures strict floating point arithmetic. I'm not sure what kind of applications would find this useful. fields in interfaces - It's possible to declare fields in interfaces. I've never used this. static imports - Allows one to use the static methods of a class without qualifying it with the class name. I just realized today that this feature exists. It sounds like a nice convenience.

  • Implementing an async "read all currently available data from stream" operation

    I recently provided an answer to this question: C# - Realtime console output redirection. As often happens, explaining stuff (here "stuff" was how I tackled a similar problem) leads you to greater understanding and/or, as is the case here, "oops" moments. I realized that my solution, as implemented, has a bug. The bug has little practical importance, but it has an extremely large importance to me as a developer: I can't rest easy knowing that my code has the potential to blow up. Squashing the bug is the purpose of this question. I apologize for the long intro, so let's get dirty. I wanted to build a class that allows me to receive input from a console's standard output Stream. Console output streams are of type FileStream; the implementation can cast to that, if needed. There is also an associated StreamReader already present to leverage. There is only one thing I need to implement in this class to achieve my desired functionality: an async "read all the data available this moment" operation. Reading to the end of the stream is not viable because the stream will not end unless the process closes the console output handle, and it will not do that because it is interactive and expecting input before continuing. I will be using that hypothetical async operation to implement event-based notification, which will be more convenient for my callers. The public interface of the class is this: public class ConsoleAutomator { public event EventHandler<ConsoleOutputReadEventArgs> StandardOutputRead; public void StartSendingEvents(); public void StopSendingEvents(); } StartSendingEvents and StopSendingEvents do what they advertise; for the purposes of this discussion, we can assume that events are always being sent without loss of generality. The class uses these two fields internally: protected readonly StringBuilder inputAccumulator = new StringBuilder(); protected readonly byte[] buffer = new byte[256]; The functionality of the class is implemented in the methods below. To get the ball rolling: public void StartSendingEvents(); { this.stopAutomation = false; this.BeginReadAsync(); } To read data out of the Stream without blocking, and also without requiring a carriage return char, BeginRead is called: protected void BeginReadAsync() { if (!this.stopAutomation) { this.StandardOutput.BaseStream.BeginRead( this.buffer, 0, this.buffer.Length, this.ReadHappened, null); } } The challenging part: BeginRead requires using a buffer. This means that when reading from the stream, it is possible that the bytes available to read ("incoming chunk") are larger than the buffer. Remember that the goal here is to read all of the chunk and call event subscribers exactly once for each chunk. To this end, if the buffer is full after EndRead, we don't send its contents to subscribers immediately but instead append them to a StringBuilder. The contents of the StringBuilder are only sent back whenever there is no more to read from the stream. private void ReadHappened(IAsyncResult asyncResult) { var bytesRead = this.StandardOutput.BaseStream.EndRead(asyncResult); if (bytesRead == 0) { this.OnAutomationStopped(); return; } var input = this.StandardOutput.CurrentEncoding.GetString( this.buffer, 0, bytesRead); this.inputAccumulator.Append(input); if (bytesRead < this.buffer.Length) { this.OnInputRead(); // only send back if we 're sure we got it all } this.BeginReadAsync(); // continue "looping" with BeginRead } After any read which is not enough to fill the buffer (in which case we know that there was no more data to be read during the last read operation), all accumulated data is sent to the subscribers: private void OnInputRead() { var handler = this.StandardOutputRead; if (handler == null) { return; } handler(this, new ConsoleOutputReadEventArgs(this.inputAccumulator.ToString())); this.inputAccumulator.Clear(); } (I know that as long as there are no subscribers the data gets accumulated forever. This is a deliberate decision). The good This scheme works almost perfectly: Async functionality without spawning any threads Very convenient to the calling code (just subscribe to an event) Never more than one event for each time data is available to be read Is almost agnostic to the buffer size The bad That last almost is a very big one. Consider what happens when there is an incoming chunk with length exactly equal to the size of the buffer. The chunk will be read and buffered, but the event will not be triggered. This will be followed up by a BeginRead that expects to find more data belonging to the current chunk in order to send it back all in one piece, but... there will be no more data in the stream. In fact, as long as data is put into the stream in chunks with length exactly equal to the buffer size, the data will be buffered and the event will never be triggered. This scenario may be highly unlikely to occur in practice, especially since we can pick any number for the buffer size, but the problem is there. Solution? Unfortunately, after checking the available methods on FileStream and StreamReader, I can't find anything which lets me peek into the stream while also allowing async methods to be used on it. One "solution" would be to have a thread wait on a ManualResetEvent after the "buffer filled" condition is detected. If the event is not signaled (by the async callback) in a small amount of time, then more data from the stream will not be forthcoming and the data accumulated so far should be sent to subscribers. However, this introduces the need for another thread, requires thread synchronization, and is plain inelegant. Specifying a timeout for BeginRead would also suffice (call back into my code every now and then so I can check if there's data to be sent back; most of the time there will not be anything to do, so I expect the performance hit to be negligible). But it looks like timeouts are not supported in FileStream. Since I imagine that async calls with timeouts are an option in bare Win32, another approach might be to PInvoke the hell out of the problem. But this is also undesirable as it will introduce complexity and simply be a pain to code. Is there an elegant way to get around the problem? Thanks for being patient enough to read all of this. I have since revised the writeup quite a bit, but to be extra sure: The question is about how to implement an async "read all the data available this moment" operation.   • PHP throwing XDebug errors ONLY in command line mode...

    Hey, all! I've been having a few problems running PHP-based utilities within the command line ever since I enabled the XDebug. It runs just fine when executing script through a browser, but once I try an execute a script on the command line, it throws the following errors: h:\www\test>@php test.php PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'E:\development\xampplite\php\ext\php_curl.dll' - The specified module could not be found in Unknown on line 0 PHP Warning: Xdebug MUST be loaded as a Zend extension in Unknown on line 0 h:\www\test> The script runs just fine after this, but it's something I can't seem to wrap my head around. Could it be a path issue within my php.ini config? I'm not sure if that's the case considering it throws the same error no matter where I access the @php environmental variable. Also, all paths within my php.ini are absolute. Not really sure what's going on here. Any ideas? Thanks!

  • Error after installing mysqlnd_ms

    I am working on Amazon EC2 using the Amazon Linux AMI which is based on CentOS. I have installed php54 and php54-mysqlnd. I then do a "sudo pecl install myslqnd_ms" This installs fine. I add the extension into the php.ini file. Then I start httpd, and when I do in the error log I see: PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib64/php/modules/mysqlnd_ms.so' - /usr/lib64/php/modules/mysqlnd_ms.so: undefined symbol: mysqlnd_globals in Unknown on line 0 Googling this lead me to: https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=62276&edit=1 and http://forums.famillecollet.com/viewtopic.php?id=242 neither of which helped me much. I am trying to stick to stock pre built binaries from the main YUM repo if possible. What would be the best solution here? Thanks in advance
