I'm writing a program in which I can Reverse the sequence and Replace all As with Ts, all Cs with Gs, all Gs with Cs, and all Ts with As. the program is to read a sequence of bases and output the reverse complement sequence. I am having trouble to do it so can anyone please help me with this by having a look on my code: word = raw_input("Enter sequence: ") a = word.replace('A', 'T') b = word.replace('C', 'G') c = word.replace('G', 'C') d = word.replace('T', 'A') if a == word and b == word and c == word and d == word: print "Reverse complement sequence: ", word And I want this sort of output: Enter sequence: CGGTGATGCAAGG Reverse complement sequence: CCTTGCATCACCG Regards

  • C# String builder, displaying data nicely spaced out.

    - by Sef
Hello, I am wondering how exactly can i order my date nicely in a stringbuilder? Meaning something equal to ("{0,2}", ....) to space the data nicely out. I do not want to use consolewrites of any kind, so the class can be re-used in a form, console code etc... Currently i am using " " for the spacing, but in overall it does not give a proper display. (it messed up when i have numbers with more then 1 digit) public override string ToString() { StringBuilder builder = new StringBuilder(); foreach (int value in tabel) { builder.Append(value); // should have something similiar to ("{0,2}", ....) builder.Append(" "); // should have something similiar to ("{0,2}", ....) } builder.Append("(top:"); builder.Append(top); builder.Append(")"); return builder.ToString(); }/*ToString*/ Regards.

  • Looking for a jquery plugin to serialize a form to an object

    - by John
    I'm looking for a jQuery function or plugin that serializes form inputs to an object using the naming convention for deep-serialization supported by param() in jQuery 1.4: <form> <input name="a[b]" value="1"/> <input name="a[c]" value="2"/> <input name="d[]" value="3"/> <input name="d[]" value="4"/> <input name="d[2][e]" value="5"/> </form> $('form').serializeObject(); // { a: { b:1,c:2 }, d: [3,4,{ e:5 }] } Prototype's Form.serialize method can do exactly this. What's the jQuery equivalent? I found this plugin but it doesn't follow this naming convention.

  • In what package should a "Settings" class be placed?

    - by Tom
I'm in the middle of building an application but found myself too easily creating new packages without keeping the project's structure in mind. Now, I'm trying to redo the whole project structure on paper first. I am using a Settings class with public properties, accessed as settings for several other classes around the project. Now, since this Settings class applies for the whole project, I am unsure if it should be packaged and if so, in what kind of package should it exist? Or should it be in the root (the default package) with the main application class? I've been thinking about putting it in my utils package, then again I don't think it really is an utlity. Any strategies on how to decide on such package structure for example for a Settings class?

  • Iterating through facebook comments JSON object failing

    - by user1594304
    I tried the option of students.item["http://www.myurl.com"].comments.data.length. However, the item["http://www.myurl.com"] call is not working. If I take out the URL from JSON object and write the iterator with students.comments.data, it works. Here is my code, any help highly appreciated. var students = { "http://www.myurl.com":{ "comments":{ "data" : [ { "id": "123456778", "from": { "name": "XYZ", "id": "1000005" }, "message": "Hey", "can_remove": false, "created_time": "2012-09-03T03:16:01+0000", "like_count": 0, "user_likes": false } ] } } } var i=0 var arrayObject = new Array(); alert("Parsing 2: "+students.item["http://www.myurl.com"].comments.data.length); for(i=0;i<students.item["http://www.myurl.com"].comments.data.length;i++) { alert("Parsing 1: "+i); arrayObject.push(students.item["http://www.myurl.com"].comments.data[i].id); arrayObject.push(students.item["http://www.myurl.com"].comments.data[i].message); arrayObject.push(students.item["http://www.myurl.com"].comments.data[i].created_time); }

  • How to compare strings ignoring case (C++)?

    - by zebraman
I am aware there is a function strcasecmp() that compares cstrings ignoring case, but I was wondering if there is a function that does the same thing except with strings? I am working with a bunch of strings, and feel like it would be terribly inefficient to have to use c_str() each time I want to compare them with strcasecmp(). Should I just use cstrings instead of strings...?

  • Error comparing hash to hashed mysql password (output values are equal)

    - by Charlie
Im trying to compare a hashed password value in a mysql database with the hashed value of an inputted password from a login form. However, when I compare the two values it says they aren't equal. I removed the salt to simply, and then tested what the outputs were and got the same values $password1 = $_POST['password']; $hash = hash('sha256', $password1); ...connect to database, etc... $query = "SELECT * FROM users WHERE username = '$username1'"; $result = mysql_query($query); $userData = mysql_fetch_array($result); if($hash != $userData['password']) //incorrect password { echo $hash."|".$userData['password']; die(); } ...other code... • Separating code logic from the actual data structures. Best practices?

    - by Patrick
I have an application that loads lots of data into memory (this is because it needs to perform some mathematical simulation on big data sets). This data comes from several database tables, that all refer to each other. The consistency rules on the data are rather complex, and looking up all the relevant data requires quite some hashes and other additional data structures on the data. Problem is that this data may also be changed interactively by the user in a dialog. When the user presses the OK button, I want to perform all the checks to see that he didn't introduce inconsistencies in the data. In practice all the data needs to be checked at once, so I cannot update my data set incrementally and perform the checks one by one. However, all the checking code work on the actual data set loaded in memory, and use the hashing and other data structures. This means I have to do the following: Take the user's changes from the dialog Apply them to the big data set Perform the checks on the big data set Undo all the changes if the checks fail I don't like this solution since other threads are also continuously using the data set, and I don't want to halt them while performing the checks. Also, the undo means that the old situation needs to be put aside, which is also not possible. An alternative is to separate the checking code from the data set (and let it work on explicitly given data, e.g. coming from the dialog) but this means that the checking code cannot use hashing and other additional data structures, because they only work on the big data set, making the checks much slower. What is a good practice to check user's changes on complex data before applying them to the 'application's' data set?

  • How to declare strings in enum in C

    - by Sridevi
Hello, typedef enum testCaseId { "TC-HIW-0019" = 0, "TC-HIW-0020", "TC-HIW-0021" } testCaseId; I need my test cases to be represented in enum. In my test function, I need to switch between the test cases like: void testfunc(uint8_t no) { switch(no) { case 0: case 1: default: } } So can anyone help on how to use enum to declare strings.

  • What is the right way to implement communication between java objects?

    - by imoschak
I'm working on an academic project which simulates a rather large queuing procedure in java. The core of the simulator rests within one package where there exist 8 classes, each one implementing a single concept. Every class in the project follows SRP. These classes encapsulate the behavior of the simulator and inter-connect every other class in the project. The problem that has arisen is that most of these 8 classes are, as is logical i think, tightly coupled and each one has to have working knowledge of every other class in this package in order to be able to call methods from it when needed. The application needs only one instance of each class so it might be better to create static fields for each class in a new class and use that to make calls -instead of preserving a reference in each class for every other class in the package (which I'm certain that is incorrect)-, but is this considered a correct design solution? or is there a design pattern maybe that better suits my needs?

  • Render view as string when Ajax request to view is made

    - by mare
I have my views render to route requests like /controller/action (for instance, /Page/Create), so pretty classic. I am creating a form where view will be loaded through AJAX request with jQuery get(), so essentially I need my Views or to be precise, my controller actions, to return plain HTML string when an AJAX request is made to the route that renders the View. I want to use the same views as for normal requests, so I cannot afford to create any new views. It is something like calling RenderPartial("MyViewUserControl") but from inside the JS code.

  • Should I share UI for objects that use common fields?

    - by wb
I have a parent class that holds all of the fields that are common between all device types. From that, I have a few derived classes that each hold their unique fields. Say I have device type "Switch" and "Transformer". Both derived classes only have 2-3 of their own unique fields. When doing the UI design (windows forms) in this case. Should I create two separate forms for each device type or create a user control with all fields that are shared among all devices? Thank you.

  • Casting an object which could be null

    - by DeeMac
DateTime? testDate = (DateTime?)arrayOfObjects[dateObject]; Does that code look ok? I attempted to use the as operator but I got the 'non-nullable' error. What I'm trying to say is that the object I'm choosing from the array is either DateTime or a null DateTime but either can be assigned to testDate. Doesn't feel right doing it this way, I think I'm missing something obvious. EDIT: I suppose it's the same as the way I could've adapted the as in the following way: DateTime? testDate = arrayOfObjects[dateObject] as DateTime?; Is either line of code the best way of handling potential nulls?

  • String Manipulation in Bash

    - by user348000
Hello- I am a newbie in Bash and I am doing some string manipulation. I have the following file among other files in my directory: jdk-6u20-solaris-i586.sh I am doing the following to get jdk-6u20 in my script: myvar=`ls -la | awk '{print $9}' | egrep "i586" | cut -c1-8` echo $myvar but now I want to convert jdk-6u20 to jdk1.6.0_20. I can't seem to figure out how to do it. It must be as generic as possible. For example if I had jdk-6u25, I should be able to convert it at the same way to jdk1.6.0_25 so on and so forth Any suggestions?

  • Does this pattern have a name?

    - by LK7jb
Disclaimer: I'm trying to learn proper OO programming/design, so I'm pretty new to this stuff. I guess this is a general design patterns question, but I'll base my example on a game engine or something that renders objects to the display. Consider the following: How can this sort of separation between physical objects (e.g., cubes, spheres, etc.) and the rendering mechanism be achieved in an extensible manner? This design is not set in stone, and perhaps I've got something wrong from the start. I'm just curious as to how a problem like this is solved in real world code.

  • Finding the specific type held in an ArrayList<Object> (ie. Object = String, etc.)

    - by Christopher Griffith
Say I have an ArrayList that I have cast to an ArrayList of objects. I know that all the objects that were in the ArrayList I cast were of the same type, but not what the type was. Now, if the ArrayList is not empty, I could take one of the objects in it and use the instanceof operator to learn what the actual type is. But what of the case where the ArrayList is empty? How do I determine what type Object actually is then? Is it possible?

  • C++ MFC how to compare LPCTSTR in a if statement?

    - by user1078510
I have the following code: LPCTSTR strPermission = Method(); if (strPermission == L"0") { return true; } else { return false; } While debugging I can see that strPermission does equal "0", yet when I compare it like in the if statement it always returns false. The only thing I can think of is that it is comparing the memory address of the variable rather than the variable value. How do I compare strPermission to L"0" so that it would return true if strPermission equals "0". Thank you!

  • Exception in Google App Engine (Java) while trying to create Memcache Object

    - by Shreeni
I am coming back to an old Google App Engine project on which I saw a bug. During this lag, I have been upgrading my AppEngine SDK and is now set at 1.3. When I try to run the same project again, I see the following exception: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: com.google.apphosting.api.ApiProxy$Environment.getDefaultNamespace()Ljava/lang/String; at com.google.appengine.api.NamespaceManager.get(NamespaceManager.java:56) at com.google.appengine.api.memcache.MemcacheServiceImpl.setNamespace(MemcacheServiceImpl.java:181) at com.google.appengine.api.memcache.MemcacheServiceImpl.(MemcacheServiceImpl.java:145) at com.google.appengine.api.memcache.MemcacheServiceFactory.getMemcacheService(MemcacheServiceFactory.java:25) The line causing the problem is: CacheManager.getInstance().getCacheFactory().createCache(Collections.emptyMap()); (It is the same line as suggested by the AppEngine documentation to create a memcache object. It used to work fine previously. ) Any suggestions on how to fix it?
