  • Problem with truncation of floating point values in DBSlayer.

    When I run a query through DBslayer http://code.nytimes.com/projects/dbslayer the floating point results are truncated to a total of six digits (plus decimal point and negative sign when needed). { ... "lat":52.2228,"lng":-2.19906, ... } When I run the same query in MySQL, the results are as expected. | 52.22280884 | -2.19906425 | Firstly, am I correct in identifying DBSlayer as the cause of this effect?   • How do I fix this installation problem with multicore Solr on Ubuntu 10.04?

    Following instructions from the two sites below, I've installed Tomcat 6 and Solr 1.4. http://gist.github.com/204638 https://wiki.fourkitchens.com/display/TECH/Solr+1.4+on+Ubuntu+9.10+and+CentOS+5 I have successfully got it up and running on a server running 9.04 with multicore support, but on the 10.04 I can't seem to get it to work.     I am grappling with adding an NSData object to a NSMutable array. I have defined the tempArray as a static memeber of the class in which this code is written. Is it because of the size of the data object as it is the data of an image????

  • firefox window.onerror event problem - alerts "Script error!" only

    I use the window.onerror to alert javascript errors for debugging. window.onerror = function(msg, url, line) { alert(msg + '\nLine: ' + line); }; When an error is fired, it can alert this actual error message in IE. But in firefox, it just alerts "Script error!", but I can still see the actual error message in firefox's error console. I remembered several months ago when I worked on another project, firefox did not work like this. But I cannot get the code of that project currently. So I wonder what are the possible problems with this?

  • Problem with adding and removing classes with jQuery when hovering over a list item.

    I want to add a class to a list item when I hover over it, and then remove it and add it to a different list item if a different list item is hovered over.     It's a trouble when Python raised a WindowsError, the encoding of message of the exception is always os-native-encoded. For example: import os os.remove('does_not_exist.file') Well, here we get an exception: Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> WindowsError: [Error 2] ???????????: 'does_not_exist.file' As the language of my Windows7 is Traditional Chinese, the default error message I get is in big5 encoding (as know as CP950). >>> try: ... os.remove('abc.file') ... except WindowsError, value: ... print value.args ... (2, '\xa8t\xb2\xce\xa7\xe4\xa4\xa3\xa8\xec\xab\xfc\xa9w\xaa\xba\xc0\xc9\xae\xd7\xa1C') >>> As you see here, error message is not Unicode, then I will get another encoding exception when I try to print it out.     I'm using Fedex's web services and getting an annoying error right up front before I can actually get anywhere. There was an error in serializing body of message addressValidationRequest1: 'Unable to generate a temporary class (result=1). error CS0030: Cannot convert type 'FedEx.InterOp.AddressValidationServiceReference.ParsedElement[]' to 'FedEx.InterOp.AddressValidationServiceReference.ParsedElement' error CS0029: Cannot implicitly convert type 'FedEx.InterOp.AddressValidationServiceReference.ParsedElement' to 'FedEx.InterOp.AddressValidationServiceReference.ParsedElement[]' '. Please see InnerException for more details. I'm using .NET 3.5 and get a horrible named class generated for me (I'm not sure why it isn't just AddressValidationService): AddressValidationPortTypeClient addressValidationService = new ...; on this class I make my web service call: addressValidationService.addressValidation(request); This is when I get this error. The only references I can find to this error come from ancient 1.1 projects. In my case my DLL has references to System.Web and System.Web.Services which seemed to be an issue back then.

  • Guice creates Swing components outside of UI thread problem?

    I'm working on Java Swing application with Google Guice as an IOC container. Things are working pretty well. There are some UI problems. When a standard L&F is replaced with Pushing pixels Substance L&F application is not running due to Guice's Swing components creation outside of UI thread. Is there a way to tell Guice to create Swing components in the UI thread? Maybe I should create custom providers which will return Swing components after SwingUtilities.invokeAndWait(Runnable) creates them. I don't like the idea of running the whole application in UI thread, but maybe it's just a perfect solution.

  • Problem with TTWebController… alternative view controller template for UIWebView?

    I have a UIWebView with content populated from a Last.fm API call. This content contains links, many of which are handled by parsing info from the URL in: - (BOOL)webView:(UIWebView *)aWbView shouldStartLoadWithRequest:(NSURLRequest *)request navigationType:(UIWebViewNavigationType)navigationType; …and passing that info on to appropraite view controllers. When I cannot handle a URL I would like to push a new view controller on the stack and load the webpage into a UIWebView there. The TTWebController in Three20 looks very promising since it has also implemented a navigation toolbar, loading indicators etc. Somewhat naively perhaps I thought I would be able to use this controller to display web content in my app, without implementing Three20 throughout the app. I followed the instructions on github to add Three20 to my project and added the following code to deal with URLs in shouldStartLoadWithRequest: TTWebController* browser = [[TTWebController alloc]init]; [browser openURL:@"http://three20.info"]; //initially test with this URL [self.navigationController pushViewController:navigator animated:YES]; This crashes my app however with the following notice: *** -[TTNavigator setParentViewController:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x3d5db70 What else do I need to do to implement the TTWebController in my app? Or do you know of an alternative view controller template that I can use instead of the Three20 implementation?

    Hi everyone, I have a Windows executable (native, not .Net) project that I'm trying to pass along to a new team member. It's a graphics modeling tool that uses the Qt widget library and OpenGL.     i have used IMAPI2 for buring CD/DVD in windows XP..but it is giving me unhandeled exception...it is written as:- System.InvalidCastException: Unable to cast COM object of type 'IMAPI2.Interop.MsftFileSystemImageClass' to interface type 'IMAPI2.Interop.MsftFileSystemImage'.     I've had the need for a multi-threaded data structure that supports these claims: Allows multiple concurrent readers and writers Is sorted Is easy to reason about Fulfilling multiple readers and one writer is a lot easier, but I really would wan't to allow multiple writers. I've been doing research into this area, and I'm aware of ConcurrentSkipList (by Lea based on work by Fraser and Harris) as it's implemented in Java SE 6. I've also implemented my own version of a concurrent Skip List based on A Provably Correct Scalable Concurrent Skip List by Herlihy, Lev, Luchangco and Shavit. These two implementations are developed by people that are light years smarter then me, but I still (somewhat ashamed, because it is amazing work) have to ask the question if these are the two only viable implementations of a concurrent multi reader/writer data structures available today?

  • Trying to use VB to automate some queries. Running into what looks like a string problem

    Hi there I'm using MS Access 2003 and I'm trying to execute a few queries at once using VB. When I write out the query in SQL it works fine, but when I try to do it in VB it asks me to "Enter Parameter Value" for DEPA, then DND (which are the first few letters of a two strings I have).   • Problem running python/matplotlib in background after ending ssh session.

    Hi there, I have to VPN and then ssh from home to my work server and want to run a python script in the background, then log out of the ssh session. My script makes several histogram plots using matplotlib, and as long as I keep the connection open everything is fine, but if I log out I keep getting an error message in the log file I created for the script.
