• Reshape data frame to convert factors into columns in R

  I have a data frame where one particular column has a set of specific values (let's say, 1, 2, ..., 23). What I would like to do is to convert from this layout to the one, where the frame would have extra 23 (in this case) columns, each one representing one of the factor values. The data in these columns would be booleans indicating whether a particular row had a given factor value... To show a specific example: Source frame: ID DATE SECTOR 123 2008-01-01 1 456 2008-01-01 3 789 2008-01-02 5 ... <more records with SECTOR values from 1 to 5> Desired format: ID DATE SECTOR.1 SECTOR.2 SECTOR.3 SECTOR.4 SECTOR.5 123 2008-01-01 T F F F F 456 2008-01-01 F F T F F 789 2008-01-02 F F F F T I have no problem doing it in a loop but I hoped there would be a better way. So far reshape() didn't yield the desired result. Help would be much appreciated.

  I want to format a date in jsf which is xmlgregoriancalendar type. I've come across post which say I need custom converter. Does anybody found solution which does not require custom date converter. I was trying following but I gives me error saying... Element type "h:outputText" must be followed by either attribute specifications, "" or "/". • Detect HTTPHandler Start

  Is there a way to detect if a httphandler has started transmitting? I'm trying to do large dynamic Excel Exports (in html table format). I can do this, but there's a long delay from the httphandler getting the message and starting the download. I have turned off the output buffer, so the delay seems to be waiting for the SQL server to dump the data into the sqldataset. Anyways, I'd like to send the user to a new page, have the page display a message, and automatically close once the httphandler has started sending the file. Is there a way to detect if the first file headers have been sent? Many thanks in advance!

  I would like the user to select the time in javascript and to avoid selecting the wrong time. How should i do it? Is there some kind of javascript or jquery widget? or should i show the format and allow users to write it in (and i guess check it with regex)? i think these should be valid 1 (1s) 1:5 (1m 5s) 1.5 (1s, 500 milliseconds. not to be confused by the above) 1:2:02 (1h, 2m, 2 seconds) 1:2:2 (1h, 2m, 2 seconds) 1:2:20 (1h, 2m, 20 seconds) I dont want the user to be confused. How can i avoid this?

  Hi all, I've got a little problem with exporting MySQL data to html. The problem is that in one field i have values like this: <a href="http://google.com">Google</a> and when i export the table in html format the generated html table for this fields contains: &lt;a href=&quot;http://google.com&quot;&gt;Google&lt;/a&gt; which is not a valid html link. Is there way to export the table without mysql to convert the < and > chars? Thanks!

• What is the regular expression for valdating a 'price' in a jtextfield

  I want to validate a jtextfield as user inputs a price of some item. I have a perfectly working code which beeps and discard if user inputs some character that doesnt match the regular expression.(for regular expression "[0-9]+" it accepts any number of digits and beeps if a letter is given as input) But the problem is I want to validate an input like "12500.00". Format should be any number of digits before decimal point and two digits after the decimal point. eg: ddd.dd I tried the following regular expression. But the i doesnt allow user to input "." character. It allows user to input any number of digits but when "." key is pressed input is not accepted. here is the regular expression I used. "[0-9]+ | [0-9]+. | [0-9]+.[0-9]{1} | [0-9]+{2}" important: user input is validated character by character as the user inputs them to the jtextfield.

• Joda-Time: Period to string

  I'm using the Joda-Time library with Java. I'm having some difficulty trying to turn a Period object to a string in the format of "x days, x hours, x minutes". These Period objects are first created by adding an amount of seconds to them (they are serialized to XML as seconds and then recreated from them). If I simply use the getHours() etc. methods in them, all I get is zero and the total amount of seconds with getSeconds. How can I make Joda calculate the seconds into the respective fields, like days, hours, etc...?

• Problems with WiX and Visual Studio web deployment project

  Hello, I want to create an .MSI package from a web deployment project in Visual Studio 2008. Now we want to use continuous integration and we would need the .MSI package build in the nightly builds. Till now we used standard Visual Studio Web Setup project, but this is not compatible with the MSBuild. So we decided to use WiX. The problem is that I have not found any good tutorial/documentation about this. Is there a way to do a WiX installer package from a web deployment project? If yes, how? Also, I tried to use heat.exe to create the XML for the WiX project .wxs file, but it seems that heat.exe doesn't recognize the web deployment project format. Thank you for your responses.   I've come up with a simple search view to search for records in my app. The user just enters all parameters in the search box then all this is matched against the database, then results are returned. One of these fields is the phone number....now in the database it's stored in the format XXX-XXX-XXX. This details cannot be stored on server in any form due to security related policies. i got 2 approaches to handle this situation, 1. create hidden parameter file with login details and limit the access to owner. again the implication is i cannot store login data in any format on server 2. Create the user as OS authenticated and straight away login into sql without any userid/password I am not able to figure out risks involved in 2nd approach which u experienced folks could have come across. let me know if there is any other approach to handle password leakage issue

  Hi folks, I seem to have a date formatting problem every day! I am querying a table and am getting a date back in the format dd/mm/yyyy (as a string btw). Brilliant! thats what I want. But, now I want to convert that string to a date so i can do dim dayNumber as integer = day.DayOfWeek But when I convert it to a date it changes it to #m/dd/yyyy#. AHHHH! how can I change this? • Reversed Latitude/Longitude US Tiger/Line Shape File to MySQL w/ OGR2OGRP

  Hi - I've downloaded the latest set (2010) of TIGER edge shape files (ESRI shapefile format) from the US Census website and am loading them into MySQL using the GDAL ogr2ogr utility. A new table (geotest) does get created with a SHAPE column that has the geometry defined as a LINESTRING. However, I am seeing reversed latitude and longitude values that get reversed when running the following command: ogr2ogr -f "MySQL" MySQL:"geo,user=lejeuned,host=localhost,password=cnickl234" -nln geotest -nlt LINESTRING -append -a_srs "EPSG:4326" -lco engine=MYISAM tl_2010_01021_edges.shp Mapping the latitude/longitude (after reversing them of course) they appear to be spot on so I suspect there is just something I am doing wrong or flag I am missing which is causing the latitude and longitudes to be transposed. When I select the SHAPE column using astext() I get the following result: LINESTRING(-86.69863 32.973164,-86.69853 32.97302,-86.69856 32.97287,-86.698613 32.972825,-86.6988 32.972825,-86.6989 32.972892,-86.6989 32.973002,-86.69874 32.97316,-86.69864 32.97318,-86.69863 32.973164) Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

  I would like to convert doc/docx documents to semantic HTML. Some wishes/requirements: Semantic HTML such that headers in the document are <h1>, <h2> etc., tables are <table> and so forth. Should preferably be possible to handle headings, lists, tables and images. Graphs and math formulas is a nice extra. • Doesn't have to be converted straight from doc/docx to html, could use an intermediary format, such as xml or docbook. • Should work programatically, and with large number of documents. The closest thing to a solution I've found so far is http://holloway.co.nz/docvert/index.html, but unfortunately there are many a few bugs, small user base and it can't handle a lot of documents. More of a proof of concept.

• PHP: why uniqid returned value is only 13 digits long

  uniqid() function returns a 13 digits long hexadecimal number. According to the spec in php.net site, the function uses microtime to generate the unique value. But microtime returns numbers in string format as the following one: "0.70352700 12689396875" which are basically the microseconds and the seconds elapsed since 1970. This is a 9+11 digits decimal number. Converting a 20 decimal number into hex would result in a 16 digits hexadecimal NOT a 13 digits one. I also thought to take out the "0." part that seem to never change, and the last two digits of the microsec part that seem to remain always "00". Doing this the decimal number would be only 9+11-3 digits long, but still a decimal number of 17 digits when converted into hex would result in 14 digits hexadecimal number NOT 13. You probably think I'm crazy in asking such a thing, but I'm concerned about using uniqid, unique values are important to be unique, a duplicated value could screw up an entire application.

  Is there a way to display the output of a sqlplus command without having to first issue the spool off command? I am spooling the results of a sqlplus session to a file while at the same time tailing the file. The reason for this is that for table with very long rows the format is easier to look at from a file. The problem is to see the output i have to issue the spool off command everytime i run a command in sqlplus. Can i configure sqlplus so that after i have issued the spool command all the output is viewable straight away on the file. (Formating the way the rows are displayed on the screen is not an option. ) THanks

  Using the user's currentLocale from the device, I want to have a date format exactly like the one generated for NSDateFormatterFullStyle minus the year: [dateFormatter setDateStyle:NSDateFormatterFullStyle]; Friday, 21 September (2012) I've noticed the iPhone app, Living Earth does this and works for all locales, so does the iPhone lock screen. A custom formatter such as, [dateFormatter setDateFormat:@"EEEE, MMMM"]; won't change with localisation. Can anyone shed some light on how to accomplish this? • Log to rolling CSV file with Enterprise Library

  Need logging to: Rolling file, to avoid 1 big log file. CSV format for easier look up. I can see EntLib (5.0) have Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Logging.TraceListeners.RollingFlatFileTraceListener to log to rolling log file. To make the log entries look like a CSV row, I can change the Logging.Formatters.TextFormatter.Template to put double quote around the values. Also change the Listener's Footer and Header to nothing, so they won't be output. Under normal circumstance, this would give me a well formed CSV file. However if a token value in the Template contain double quote, this would not be escaped, hence the log file become an invalid CSV file. Is there any way to resolve this? Is there any alternative solutions to this problem?

A company I'm working with has given an 'API' that I can use to access orders, however, there are only two real commands, getorders and getorderdetails. These commands are put in the format of http://www.server.com/path/to/the/orderapi/getorders/UniqueKey/ If I go to that web address, I'm prompted for a username and password, and once authenticating, get presented with a page of JSON formatted order details, contained in the body of the html page. I would like a service to check this information and create orders in our crm based on it, is there an obvious way to access it without the browser/client interaction?

  i use such code string.Format("<img src='{0}'><br>", u.Avatar); u.Avatar-it's like '/img/path/pic.jpg' but in this site i can upload new image instead old pic.jpg. so picture new, but name is old. and browser show OLD picture (cache). if i put random number like /img/path/pic.jpg?123 then works fine, but i need it only ufter upload, not always. how can i solve this? ?????????? ??????

  If I convert a UTC datetime to swedish format, summertime is included (CEST). However, while creating a datetime with sweden as the timezone, it gets CET instead of CEST. • Developer tool for configuring IIS6

  edit: IIS6; I'm not sure IIS7 is an option in the immediate future... From a developer angle, I am constantly changing my IIS settings, or need to merge settings from other teams into different VMs. The "Save Configuration to Disk" has never really worked well for me. Because we are making lots of small changes, web installation projects have never really worked either... Tools aimed for the web-admin aren't necessarily a good fit for the developer - we have different aims and needs. Does anyone have a script / tool / utility that would allow us to quickly configure IIS? In particular: remove everything (start clean) add a load of virtual directories, each mapped to application base paths set as an application set the app-pool (we'll assume the app pool already exists) set the ASP.NET version to 2.x if needed from some find of flat input list (any format would do).

The database developers have developed some web-services that I am able to call and send/receive data to and from the the database. When I want to display an image the method returns the image in BLOB format. My question is: what is the best way to convert BLOB to .jpg or .bmp so I can display the image correctly?
