  • Storing and retrieving dynamically created pdf in sql using c#

    - by mwright
I have been playing around with creation of pdf documents for a project that I'm working on. I would like to store the generated pdf document in a SQL database and then later be able to retrieve this pdf as well. What are some suggestions for doing this? Can the document be stored in the database without physically creating the document on the server?

  • node to traverse cannot be null (Hibernate SQL)

    - by tiswas
I'm performing a SQL query through hibernate, which looks like: SELECT thi FROM track_history_items thi JOIN artists art ON thi.artist_id = art.id WHERE thi.type = "TrackBroadcast" GROUP BY art.name ORDER thi.createdAt DESC but I'm getting the message that 'Node to traverse cannot be null!'. Anyone know what could be causing this? --EDIT-- I'm pretty sure that this problem is being caused by the possibility of artist_id to be null. However, I can't prevent this, so can I just skip the rows track_history_item rows which have a null artist_id?

  • Store an image in a SQL Server CE database

    - by Vaccano
Does any one know of an example on how to store an image in a SQL Server CE database? What data type should the column be? (I am guessing binary.) I use Linq-To-Datasets. Is it possible using that to put the image into the database and pull it out again later? Thanks for any advice.

  • Sorting string column containing numbers in SQL?

    - by Ish
    Dear Folks, I am trying to sort string column (containing numbers). // SELECT `name` FROM `mytable` ORDER BY `name` ASC +----------+ +-- name --+ +----------+ +-- a 1 ---+ +-- a 12 --+ +-- a 2 ---+ +-- a 3 ---+ You see natural sorting algorithm of Mysql is placing a 12 after a 1 (which is ok for most apps), But I have unique needs, so I want result should be sorted like this. +----------+ +-- name --+ +----------+ +-- a 1 ---+ +-- a 2 ---+ +-- a 3 ---+ +-- a 12 --+ Is it possible with just SQL, or I have to manipulate result-set at application level? Thanks for reading...

  • Insert hex string value to sql server binary field is appending extra 0

    - by rotary_engine
Have a binary field and want to insert into this from a hex string: insert into binaryTable(binaryField) values(convert(varbinary(max), 0x0)) however when I run select the value is return with an extra 0 as 0x00 This extra 0 is causing a problem in another application, I dont want it. Interesting, is if I do a select on an existing value and it returns say 0x55 then inserting this same value using the above query will return a select of 0x055. How to stop the extra 0 being added?

  • converting factored number to decimal in MS SQL

    - by LS
I need to convert a number which gives decimals in factored format in to decimals, i.e. 11.16 is 11.5 in decimal. This is because 16 is in base of 32 and 11.16 should be read as 11+16/32 = 11.5 I get 11.16 as a string and I need to change it to 11.5 as numeric in MS SQL(2005) database. Any shorter way of doing this rather than splitting strings, converting to numerics, maths, convert to string, concatenate and then convert to numeric?

  • How to perform a select using a WHERE NOT EXISTS

    - by Peter Bridger
I'm using LINQ2SQL and I want to compare two tables and select all rows that are missing from one tables (based upon one of the column values). In standard SQL I would write this as: SELECT FirstName, LastName, RefId, Email FROM Users_ActiveDirectory AS ADU WHERE NOT EXISTS ( SELECT U.RefId FROM Users AS U WHERE U.RefID = ADU.RefId ) However I'm not sure how to achieve the same result using LINQ2SQL?

  • Which is more flexible in regards to database changes, EF 4 or Linq to SQL

    - by JBeckton
Reading about both Linq to SQL and Entity Framework I have developed the impression that EF is more suitable for apps that get data from multiple data sources. But as I am reading about MVC2 models I see an example where EF is more loosely coupled with your data model. If I have to add or remove some columns from a table then what is involved in updating my model or DAL with each of these implementations?
