  • How do you implement file drag-and-drop upload in Google Chrome?

    I've found several tutorials online about implementing file drag/drop with Firefox 3.6 (they involve using a FileReader object to get the file binary data). However, I cannot create a FileReader object in Chrome on Windows or Mac. Does anyone know what the API is to read and manipulate data from a drag-and-dropped file in Chrome? If I can get the binary data of the file, I already have the rest of the code to perform the upload. Note: I've also tried using the getAsBinary() function call on the file object of the drag event (event.dataTransfer.file) but I believe that is a Mozilla-specific function and not implemented in Chrome. Also, I'm not interested in a solution using google gears or one that requires a user to select files from a dialog. I'm specifically trying to implement a drag-and-drop file upload.

  • Basic regexp help

    I am new to programming PHP and am trying to validate a field in a form. The field if for a RAL color code and so would look something like : RAL 1001. so the letters RAL and then 4 numbers. Can someone help me set them into a regular expression to validate them. i have tried this with no success: $string_exp = "/^[RAL][0-9 .-]+$/i"; What can I say but sorry for being a complete NOOB at PHP.     TLDR: Want to check if cookie exists, if it doesn't create it. Am using jquery1.4.2 and jquery cookie, I know this is probably very simple but I just cant get my head right at the moment. I want to: Check to see if a cookie with name of "query" exists If so nothing. If not create a cookie "query" with a value of 1. But only if it doesn't already exist. Thanks in advance

  • CSS: achieving TWO-WAY infinite scroll with mouse drag

    Hi, I'm trying to create an infinite scroll component. I'm using this site as a tutorial, but it seems that I can only get the infinite scroll on one way, because when I add elements to the leftmost side, the scrollLeft property auto-adjusts thus the page gets a quirky scroll, jumping instead of making a smooth movement. Is there any way of achieving infinite scroll both-ways? I don't plan to use scrolling buttons, just mouse drag for moving the scroll view.

  • Why would this div have an unnecessarily large computed height?

    Link: http://www.fraynepainting.com/services The problem is that div#dditem_2 (the div with the "Take a look..." text) is getting a computed height of around 500px for no reason that I can find in the CSS, which is pushing the UL below it down really really far. I discovered that if you set display: none or position: absolute (or anything else that removes it from the flow of elements) on the sidebar, then the bottom UL moves up like it should, so it looks like maybe the UL is trying to clear the sidebar, but I can't figure out why that would be either. I've reproduced the problem in Firefox and Chrome so far. Any ideas?

  • CSS issue in IE

    Hi, Me website contains drop down menus at the top right corner. Dropdwon is displayed fine but when I hover over elements of drop down then IE is causing issue on rendering them on the other hand Firefox is displaying the way i want. website is http://www.textsensor.com/test. Can anybody tell me what is causing IE issue on its menu. Here is the details. Each parent at top has child div which contains child elements in a ul. I am displaying them inline with width of div container fixed so that two of them are being displayed in one line. Each child li contains two images and an anchor in between. These two images are providing rounded corners whereas anchor contains span which contains text of sub-menu item. On mouseover on span I am showing its parent anchor sibling images through javascript and also setting its bg-image to white. Images are not aligned correctly and span tag got down about 10px from top on IE only. This forces the page to render in Standards mode in all browsers. Is there any workaround/hack that can force Quirks mode eventhough I have a doctype?

  • How to identify HTML elements (in javascript) in a browser agnostic fashion

    Hi All, I need to identify all html elements on a page in a browser agnostic fashion. What I am basically doing is using mouse events to record clicks on the page. I need to record which element was clicked. So I add a mouse down listener to the document.body element. And on mouse down I get the element under the mouse. Lets say its a div. I then use the index of that div inside the document.getElementsByTagName('*') nodelist and the nodeName ('div') to identify that div. A sample element id would be div45 which means its a div and its the 45th element in the '*' nodelist. This is all fine and good until I use IE which gives me different indexes. So div45 in FireFox may be div47 in IE. Anyone have any ideas? I just need the id of all elements on the page to be the same in any browser, perhaps indexing is not good enough but I really don't have any more ideas. Thanks Guido

  • Disappearing IE6 elements.

    I don't know what could be causing this issue, but for some reason, elements on my page (list navigation items, specifically), are disappearing in IE6. That is, from IE developer toolbar, I can see that the elements are there, and the DOM/css is correct, but the elements just aren't visible. The odd thing is that if you set or toggle ANY css element on the list items with the IE6 toolbar, the elements appear. I also have a hover() jQuery action set on the list navigation items, and the event fires as if the elements were visible and working correctly. What could possibly be going wrong here? I initially thought z-index could be an issue, but changing ANY attribute or css value (not necessarily z-index), causes the element to render. I should note, however, that doing this programmatically does not cause the elements to display properly, even if triggered seconds after the page load.

    I'd like to display two independent Tumblr blogs next to each other on one page. I'd like them to look identical to their Tumblr theme. What's the best way to do this?     Hi, I have a problem when I try to center the div block "products" because I don't know in advance the div width. Anybody have a solution? Now the opposite is quite simple as you only need to call parent.functionName() but unfortunately I need exactly the opposite of that. Please note that my problem is not changing the source url of the iframe, but invoking function defined in the iframe.
