Presumably there is no difference in performance (or is there?), but how do you weigh the explicitness, the conciseness, the clarity, the readability, etc between the two?   If I have 'export BLA="hey there"' in .profile in my home directory, how can I change this later in other directories just by cd into the other directory? Also, is there a way to just set a new environment variable when I cd into a directory. My first attempt was to just make another .bashrc file in the directory where I want the change but apparently that proved less than effective. I'm on OS X btw.

I tried this way but it didn't work: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.domain.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(test1|test2)(.*?)$ http://$1.domain.com$2 [R=301,L] I guess the problem is that the alternation of folders doesn't return a result that i can get into $1, right? I'm not a PCRE expert so andy help would be appreciated.

  Is it possible to nest simple programs within a Google doc spreadsheet, similar to how you would w/Basic in Excel? Or alternatively a simple = syntax using regex, if there is a way to do that in google docs? I want to take a list of multiple names(name1, name2, name3) in a single cell from across multiple identical sheets and transpose them to another sheet within the same spreadsheet, check for duplicates and ignore capitals, etc. Is there a way to do this?
