  Is their a way to exclude a block of code when you use the publish feature in visual studio. But when the application is published the compiler woudl ignore that code and not compile it in to the application.

• Apache mod_rewrite and multiple domains

  Hi, I'm trying to use mod_rewrite to map multiple domains to different servlets on one host. Example: www.dom1.com - 192.168.1.n/dom1 www.dom2.com - 192.168.1.n/dom2 ... I'm using the mod_rewrite and mod_proxy and directive but it seems that the reverse mapping via ProxyPassReverse doesn't work as I expected. ProxyPassReverse /subdomain.domain.com http://192.168.1.n/subdomain doesn't work. I've turned rewrite-logging on with RewriteLog /var/log/rewrite.log From the logs I'd say that rewriting works and the problem seems to be with reverse mapping. However I can't see any Reverse mapping entries. It seems that reverse mapping isn't logged or needs a different command to be activated. (Apache and the servlet container are on different machines but this should not matter I'd think ?)

  Run a recursive listing of all the files in /var/log and redirect standard output to a file called lsout.txt in your home directory. Complete this question WITHOUT leaving your home directory. An: ls -R /var/log/ /home/bqiu/lsout.txt I reckon the above bash command is not correct. This is what I've got so far: $ ls -1R .: cal.sh cokemachine.sh dir sort test.sh ./dir: afile.txt file subdir ./dir/subdir: $ ls -R | sed s/^.*://g cal.sh cokemachine.sh dir sort test.sh afile.txt file subdir But this still leaves all directory/sub-directory names (dir and subdir), plus a couple of empty newlines How could I get the correct result without using Perl or awk? Preferably using only basic bash commands(this is just because Perl and awk is out of assessment scope)

• Configuring log4net appenders via XML file *and* code

  I started to play with log4net today and so far, I really like it. In order to preserve our current logging functionality, the app needs to create a new log file whenever the application is started. The log file name has the date and time stamp encoded in it. Currently, I've got log4net configured via an XmlConfigurator, which works great, except that the filename for my RollingFileAppender is hardcoded in the configuration XML file. I'd like to continue to use the XmlConfigurator, but after calling Configure(), I want to get at the RollingFileAppender and, in code, change its file value to be a dynamically-generated string. The sample documentation online seems to be down right now, but I've poked through the SDK reference, and it looks like I could use the Heirarchy and GetAppenders() to do what I need to do. Am I on the right track?

I am also writing the LogWriter module. In this caase i am mapping the whole file to the memory using mmap(). I am maintaining the Read and Write pointers.I want to write the log to the file in append mode. Then when logger service is started first time it writes it appends the logs. But when system gets shutdown next time when i run the service it doesn't append the data at the end. I want to maintain the write and read offsets even if system shut down.How to achieve this ..? How to find the how much data is written to the log file. ??

• In Subversion, I know when a file was added, what's the quickest way to find out when it was deleted

  OK, so suppose I know I added file "foo.txt" to my Subversion repository at revision 500. So I can do a svn log -v http://svnrepo/path/foo.txt@500, and that shows all the files added at the same time. What's the fastest way to find when the file was deleted after it was added? I tried svn log -r500:HEAD -v http://svnrepo/path/foo.txt@500, but that gives me "path not found" - perhaps obviously, because the file "foo.txt" doesn't exist at "HEAD". I can try a binary search algorithm going forward through revisions (and that would certainly be faster than typing this question), but is there a better way?

• ASP.NET 2.0 files work in one folder, but NOT in another

  I am about to leap of a building. I have created an app for a client and all the files are in a folder on their D drive. Now it is time to go production, so I copied all my files and folders to their excisting classic asp folder on the same drive. BUT NOTHING WORKS. The only difference I can see is that DEV does not require HTTPS like the production site. I also made sure all the permissions are the same on both folder. I made sure that the GAC has read rights using the aspnet_regiis tool. I am at the end of my debug knowlegde, could someone please help me out. • C++ Project compiles as static lib, fails (linker error) as dynamic lib. why??

  Hi All. I've a VS2008 native C++ project, that I wish to compile as a DLL. It only references one external library (log4cplus.lib), and uses its functions. (also uses log4cplus's .h files , naturally). When I try to compile my project as a static library, it succeeeds. When I try as DLL, it fails : 1>MessageWriter.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "public: static class log4cplus::Logger __cdecl log4cplus::Logger::getInstance(class std::basic_string<wchar_t,struct std::char_traits<wchar_t>,class std::allocator<wchar_t> > const &)" (?getInstance@Logger@log4cplus@@SA?AV12@ABV?$basic_string@_WU?$char_traits@_W@std@@V?$allocator@_W@2@@std@@@Z) referenced in function "class log4cplus::Logger __cdecl Log(void)" (?Log@@YA?AVLogger@log4cplus@@XZ) There are 4 more errors just like this related to functions within log4cplus.lib. • Multiple merchant accounts with Activemerchant gem.

  I am developing a rails site that will allow a group of merchants (5 - 10) to accept credit card orders online. I plan on using the Activemerchant gem to handle the processing. In this case, each merchant will have their own merchant accounts to handle the payments. Storing banking information like that is not something I am a fan of. This could be solved by queing orders and allowing the merchant to log in to the site, input their credentials and process the order. However, if I go that route then it seems to me that I would have to store the customers' credit card information temporarily until the merchant has the opportunity to log in and process the order, which to me is the greater evil. Has anyone dealt with this situation? If so, what are the options available and what pitfalls should I look out for? In my mind, security customer credit card information is priority number one with the merchant account information a close second.

  Hi, I would like to confirm whether I am on the right track when identifying common UML class relationships. For example, is the relationship between: 1 a stackoverflow member and his/her stackoverflow user account categorized as a composition relationship or an aggregation relationship? At first I thought it was an association because this member "has a" account. However on second thought, I am thinking its composition because each "part" (user account) belongs to only one whole (user) at a time, meaning for as long as I am logged into stackoverflow, I have to use this one and only account until I log off. If I log back onto stackoverflow with a different account then its composition again. Do you agree? 2 a database and a person's user account an aggregation relationship? I think so because 1 database (the whole) can store 0...* number of user accounts (the parts) but another database can store the same user accounts. Finally, can anyone recommend a website that specializes in designing code using UML? Thanks in advance

In the page.php I'm doing the usual... $firephp = FirePHP::getInstance(true); $firephp->log($categories); Getting these errors.. 'Headers already sent....' and Cannot send log data to FirePHP. You must have Output Buffering enabled via ob_start() or output_buffering ini directive... I figured the using require_once in the template's header.php (above all HTML output) would be safe (pre header output). Guess this is not the case. Anyone have experience with this? (P.S. I tried the WP FirePHP plugin, wasn't working right)

  We are deploying web parts to SharePoint 2007 and would like to include logging (log4net). The ideal solution would be to use a database appender to avoid the problems with knowing which actual server is executing the web part. This questions has been helpful: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/219668/sharepoint-and-log4net. I've got log4net working in a stand-alone web app using Visual Studio dev server using the web.config for the log4net settings and a file appender for the output. I'd like to transition to SharePoint and still use the log file output so I can make sure it's all working first, then change the config around to log to a database. Is this going to be too much trouble? How have other developers added log4.net into their solutions for SharePoint?

  Hey guys- I'm trying to figure out what to make of the following code- this is not the clear, intuitive python I've been learning. Was it written in C or something then wrapped in a python fxn?   What I want is to add possibility to interact with application, and be able to extract information from application or event ask it to change some states. For that purpose I though of building cli utility. The utility will connect to the application and send user commands (one line strings) to the application and wait for response from the application. The command should contain: - command name (e.g. display-session-table/set-log-level etc.) - optionally command may have several arguments (e.g. log-level=10) The question to choose syntax and to learn parse it fast and correctly. I don't want to reinvent the whell, so maybe there's already an answer out there.

Any instance of 'ht~tp' is supposed to be 'http'. '{dot}' is supposed to be '.' and '{colon}' is supposed to be ':'. Also, my lack of reputation has prevented me from tagging my question with 'webfinger' and 'google-profiles'. Onto my question: I am messing around with WebFinger and trying to create a small rails app that enables a user to log in using nothing but their WebFinger account. I can succesfully finger myself, and I get back an XRD file with the following snippet: Link rel="ht~tp://specs{dot}openid{dot}net/auth/2.0/provider" href="ht~tp://www{dot}google{dot}com/profiles/{redacted}"/ Which, to me, reads, "I have an OpenID 2.0 login at the url: ht~tp://www{dot}google{dot}com/profiles/{redacted}".
