  • Animate an Image after hovering an item a second

    - by mikep
    Hey, after some tries to get this to work, i ask you, if you know where my mistake is. This is my code until now: $(".menu a").hover( function () { $(this).data('timeout', setTimeout( function () { $(this).hover(function() { $(this).next("em").animate({opacity: "show", top: "-65"}, "slow"); }, function() { $(this).next("em").animate({opacity: "hide", top: "-75"}, "fast"); }); }, 1000)); }, function () { clearTimeout($(this).data('timeout')); }); i would be happy about some help.

  • bloated jquery xml requests

    - by Tim Joyce
    Hi, I was wondering if anyone had an alternative to this. $(xml).find("a").each(function(){ $(this).find('b').each(function(){ $(this).find('c').each(function(){ $(this).find('d1').each(function(){ sectionValidation.RegisterTerms.setRegisterTermsArray(this); }); $(this).find('d2').each(function(){ sectionValidation.RegisterTerms.checkValidVariations(this, val); }); }); }); }); It seems really bloated and there has to be a more elegant approach to getting nested xml data. Thank you

  • Can not get json response using $.getJSON

    - by Mellon
    I am currently developing a Ruby on rails 3 application. My server controller function render a json object as response: class DaysController < BaseController ... def the_days ... render :json => days end end In my javascript,I use the following code to get json response from server( that's from the_day function in controller) $.getJSON( url, {emp_id: emp_id}, function(data) { var result = data.response; alert(result) alert(data) }, "json" ); I use firefox browswer and checked with Firebug, in Firebug Net-XHR, I see the Get request is successful, and the response "days" is there. That's both request and response are successful. But I did not see the two alert window defined in the above $.getJSON function, why? Why I can not get the response "days" in $.getJSON function??

  • ASP.Net Architecture Specific to Shared/Static functions

    - by Maxim Gershkovich
    Hello All, Could someone please advise in the context of a ASP.Net application is a shared/static function common to all users? If for example you have a function Public shared function GetStockByID(StockID as Guid) as Stock Is that function common to all current users of your application? Or is the shared function only specific to the current user and shared in the context of ONLY that current user? So more specifically my question is this, besides database concurrency issues such as table locking do I need to concern myself with threading issues in shared functions in an ASP.Net application? In my head; let’s say my application namespace is MyTestApplicationNamespace. Everytime a new user connects to my site a new instance of the MyTestApplicationNamespace is created and therefore all shared functions are common to that instance and user but NOT common across multiple users. Is this correct?

  • Delete old map markers and load new ones?

    - by pufAmuf
    I'm trying to delete the old markers and load new ones. Here is the code I have that loads certain markers on page load - no issues here: (function() { var customIcons = { 1: { icon: 'redmarker.png', shadow: 'markershadow.png' }, 2: { icon: 'purplemarker.png', shadow: 'markershadow.png' }, 3: { icon: 'silvermarker.png', shadow: 'markershadow.png' }, 4: { icon: 'goldmarker.png', shadow: 'markershadow.png' } }; window.onload = function(){ var MY_MAPTYPE_ID = 'custom'; var stylez = [ { "stylers": [ { "hue": "#00ccff" }, { "saturation": -100 }, { "lightness": 5 } ] },{ } ]; var latlng = new google.maps.LatLng(10, 10); var options = { zoom: 16, center: latlng, panControl: false, zoomControl: false, scaleControl: true, mapTypeControlOptions: { mapTypeIds: [MY_MAPTYPE_ID,google.maps.MapTypeId.SATELLITE] }, mapTypeId: MY_MAPTYPE_ID }; var map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById('map'), options); var styledMapOptions = { name: 'Map' }; var jayzMapType = new google.maps.StyledMapType(stylez, styledMapOptions); map.mapTypes.set(MY_MAPTYPE_ID, jayzMapType); var infoWindow = new google.maps.InfoWindow; // Change this depending on the name of your PHP file downloadUrl("getxml.php", function(data) { var xml = data.responseXML; var markers = xml.documentElement.getElementsByTagName("marker"); for (var i = 0; i < markers.length; i++) { var name = markers[i].getAttribute("id"); var address = markers[i].getAttribute("id"); var type = markers[i].getAttribute("venue_type"); var point = new google.maps.LatLng( parseFloat(markers[i].getAttribute("lat")), parseFloat(markers[i].getAttribute("lng"))); var html = "<b>" + name + "</b> <br/>" + address; var icon = customIcons[type] || {}; var marker = new google.maps.Marker({ map: map, position: point, icon: icon.icon, shadow: icon.shadow }); bindInfoWindow(marker, map, infoWindow, html); } }); //BUTTON SWITCHING //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //BUTTON SWITCHING //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //BUTTON SWITCHING //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //BUTTON SWITCHING //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //BUTTON SWITCHING //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //BUTTON SWITCHING //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //BUTTON SWITCHING //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// jQuery(document).delegate(".topCanBeActive", "click", function( e ) { e.preventDefault(); jQuery(".topCanBeActive").removeClass("topActive"); jQuery(this).addClass("topActive"); switch( this.id ){ case 'all_activity_button': alert("search"); break; case 'events_button': downloadUrl("getxml2.php", function(data) { var xml = data.responseXML; var markers = xml.documentElement.getElementsByTagName("marker"); for (var i = 0; i < markers.length; i++) { var name = markers[i].getAttribute("id"); var address = markers[i].getAttribute("id"); var type = markers[i].getAttribute("venue_type"); var point = new google.maps.LatLng( parseFloat(markers[i].getAttribute("lat")), parseFloat(markers[i].getAttribute("lng"))); var html = "<b>" + name + "</b> <br/>" + address; var icon = customIcons[type] || {}; var marker = new google.maps.Marker({ map: map, position: point, icon: icon.icon, shadow: icon.shadow }); bindInfoWindow(marker, map, infoWindow, html); } }); break; case 'venues_button': alert("venues"); break; case 'search_button': alert("search"); break; } }); //END //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //END //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //END //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //END //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //END //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //END //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //END //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// //END //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// } function bindInfoWindow(marker, map, infoWindow, html) { google.maps.event.addListener(marker, 'click', function() { infoWindow.setContent(html); infoWindow.open(map, marker); }); } function downloadUrl(url, callback) { var request = window.ActiveXObject ? new ActiveXObject('Microsoft.XMLHTTP') : new XMLHttpRequest; request.onreadystatechange = function() { if (request.readyState == 4) { request.onreadystatechange = doNothing; callback(request, request.status); } }; request.open('GET', url, true); request.send(null); } function doNothing() {} })(); Now, I created a button section where if you press one button, a different xml file is loaded. Notice the section with the ////////////////////// However, upon clicking the button, nothing happens. The xml file itself is okay and loads the desired data. I also receive no errors in firebug. Any ideas why this happens? Thanks!

  • VB.Net List.Find. Pass values to predicate

    - by Beta033
    Having a bit of trouble using the List.Find with a custom predicate i have a function that does this private function test () Dim test As Integer = keys.Find(AddressOf FindByOldKeyAndName).NewKey here's the function for the predicate Private Shared Function FindByOldKeyAndName(ByVal k As KeyObj) As Boolean If k.OldKey = currentKey.OldKey And k.KeyName = currentKey.KeyName Then Return True Else Return False End If End Function by doing it this way means i have to have a shared "currentKey" object in the class, and i know there has to be a way to pass in the values i'm interested in of CurrentKey (namely, keyname, and oldkey) ideally i'd like to call it by something like keys.Find(AddressOf FindByOldKeyAndName(Name,OldVal)) however when i do this i get compiler errors. How do i call this method and pass in the values?

  • 2D Topdown Shooter - Player Movement Relative to Mouse

    - by Jarmo
    I'm trying to make a topdown 2D space game for my school project. I'm almost done but I just want to add a few little things to make the game more fun to play. if (keystate.IsKeyDown(Keys.W)) { vPlayerPos += Vector2.Normalize(new Vector2(Mouse.GetState().X - vPlayerPos.X, Mouse.GetState().Y - vPlayerPos.Y)) * 3; rPlayer.X = (int)vPlayerPos.X; rPlayer.Y = (int)vPlayerPos.Y; } if (keystate.IsKeyDown(Keys.S)) { vPlayerPos += Vector2.Normalize(new Vector2(Mouse.GetState().X - vPlayerPos.X, Mouse.GetState().Y - vPlayerPos.Y)) * -3; rPlayer.X = (int)vPlayerPos.X; rPlayer.Y = (int)vPlayerPos.Y; } This is what i use to move towards and away from my mouse crossair. I tried to make a somewhat similar function to make it strafe with "A" and "D". But for some reason I just couldn't get it done. Any thoughts?

  • jquery to construct a string and pass it as a post argument for file

    - by user253530
    I have this js code: $("#startSearch").live("click", function(event){ $("input:checkbox[name='searchId']:checked").each(function(){ var searchId = $(this).val(); var host = ''; $.post("php/autosearch-get-host.php",{sId: searchId},function(data){ host = 'http://' + data + '/index.php'; }); //alert(host); $.getJSON(host,{searchId: $(this).val()},function(){ pagination("php/pagination.php", $('#currentPage').val(), $('#sortBy').val(), $("#sortMode").val(), "autosearch"); }); }); }); The php file php/autosearch-get-host.php returns a string with the host name. What i want is to get the host from the database, create the URL using string concatenation and pass it as an argument to another $.post. $.post should use that URL like this: $.getJSON(host,{searchId: $(this).val()},function() { pagination("php/pagination.php", $('#currentPage').val(), $('#sortBy').val(), $("#sortMode").val(), "autosearch"); });

  • Incorrect key mappings in remote NX session

    - by Roger Light
    I'm using the NoMachine provided NX client on Ubuntu 10.10 running on a laptop. I'm connecting to a FreeNX server that happens to be running on openSUSE. I'm having trouble with keys being incorrect in the remote session. The most noticable example is that when I press up cursor, the screen shot dialog appears instead. As far as I can gather easily, the cursor keys and delete are affected. It's worth noting that it doesn't display the same behaviour if I dual boot to Windows XP, or from a different machine using openSUSE. I'm not really sure where to begin looking. Any suggestions?

  • Cannot set focus on input field in infoWindow

    - by thomas
    Hi Why is focus not set to noteTitle? I am using google maps API V3. The getNoteForm() returns a input field "noteTitle". The $("#noteTitle").focus() works fine when executed in firebug. I call this function when clicking on the map: function setNewNoteInfowindow(latlng) { if (geocoder) { geocoder.geocode({'latLng': latlng}, function(results, status) { var address = ""; if (status == google.maps.GeocoderStatus.OK) { if (results[1]) { address = results[1].formatted_address; } } newNoteInfowindow = new google.maps.InfoWindow({ content: getNoteForm(latlng, address), size: new google.maps.Size(40,50) }); newNoteInfowindow.open(map, newNoteMarker); google.maps.event.addListener(newNoteInfowindow, 'domready', function() { $("#noteTitle").focus(); }); google.maps.event.addListener(newNoteInfowindow, 'closeclick', function() { newNoteMarker.setVisible(false); }); }); } }

  • UbuntuGNOME 13.10 - Problem: Keyboard layout: Control L and Caps Lock swapped

    - by linuxubuntu
    I have a problem in UbuntuGNOME 13.10 which I didn't had in prior releases: I did a clean install and I don't know if it was already there or if I may have changed something, but my "Control L" and "Caps Lock" keys are swapped. How to swap them back? See also the attached image. http://i.imgur.com/PR1YB4T.jpg I swapped them back using but this is obviously not a proper fix $ cd ~ $ xmodmap -pke > .Xmodmap $ echo "remove Lock = Caps_Lock remove Control = Control_L keysym Control_L = Caps_Lock keysym Caps_Lock = Control_L add Lock = Caps_Lock add Control = Control_L" >> .Xmodmap $ xmodmap .Xmodmap but the "Keyboard Layout Chart" program shows the keys still swapped. What's the reason for this? How to fix?

  • jQuery Tablesorter - disabled headers show progress bar, sortEnd never triggered

    - by McGirl
    I'm combining Tablesorter's 'disable headers using options' function and the 'trigger sortStart / sortEnd' function and have run into an issue. The following code works fine for the most part, BUT: when you click on a disabled header, the progress-indicating #overlay div appears and never goes away. <script type="text/javascript" id="js"> $(document).ready(function() { // call the tablesorter plugin, the magic happens in the markup $("#projectTable").tablesorter({ // pass the headers argument and assing a object headers: { // assign the secound column (we start counting zero) 1: { // disable it by setting the property sorter to false sorter: false }, // assign the third column (we start counting zero) 2: { // disable it by setting the property sorter to false sorter: false } } }); //assign the sortStart event $("#projectTable").bind("sortStart",function() { $("#overlay").show(); }).bind("sortEnd",function() { $("#overlay").hide(); }); }); </script> Any ideas on how I could fix this so that nothing at all happens when the disabled headers are clicked? Thanks!

  • How can I create variable variables in ActionScript

    - by Daniel Angel
    I'm doing this mcomp7d101.onRelease = function() { getURL("javascript:Compartir("+id7d101+");"); } mcomp7d102.onRelease = function() { getURL("javascript:Compartir("+id7d101+");"); } mcomp7d103.onRelease = function() { getURL("javascript:Compartir("+id7d101+");"); } mcomp7d150.onRelease = function() { getURL("javascript:Compartir("+id7d101+");"); } you get the idea :) How can I use a for loop to do something like: for(ii = 101; ii < 150; ii++) { mcomp7d+ii.onRelease = function() { getURL("javascript:Compartir("+id7d+ii);"); } } I'm getting a syntax error. It seems that I can't create variable variables in compiled languages.

  • How to get numpad out of "mouse emulation" mode?

    - by Jonik
    My numeric keypad has somehow got into a "mouse emulation" mode where the number keys just move the mouse pointer around (2 = down; 8 = up, 6 = right, etc). Anyone know how to make it work normally again? None of the other numpad keys work either (I first noticed the whole thing when Ctrl + ÷ (numpad division sign) no longer produced "line comment" in IntelliJ IDEA). Toggling num lock doesn't affect this (though the indicator LED works as usual). I'm using GNOME on Lucid Lynx (10.4).

  • Trying to get JQuery Autocomplete working on Asp.Net page.

    - by JasonMHirst
    Can someone shed some light on the problem please: I have the following: $(document).ready(function () { $("#txtFirstContact").autocomplete({url:'http://localhost:7970/Home/FindSurname' }); }); On my Asp.Net page. The http request is a function on an MVC Controller and that code is here: Function FindSurname(ByVal surname As String, ByVal count As Integer) Dim sqlConnection As New SqlClient.SqlConnection sqlConnection.ConnectionString = My.Settings.sqlConnection Dim sqlCommand As New SqlClient.SqlCommand sqlCommand.CommandText = "SELECT ConSName FROM tblContact WHERE ConSName LIKE '" & surname & "%'" sqlCommand.Connection = sqlConnection Dim ds As New DataSet Dim da As New SqlClient.SqlDataAdapter(sqlCommand) da.Fill(ds, "Contact") sqlConnection.Close() Dim contactsArray As New List(Of String) For Each dr As DataRow In ds.Tables("Contact").Rows contactsArray.Add(dr.Item("ConSName")) Next Return Json(contactsArray, JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet) End Function As far as I'm aware, the Controller is returning JSON data, however I don't know if the Function Parameters are correct, or indeed if the format returned is interprettable by the AutoComplete plugin. If anyone can assist in the matter I'd really appreciate it.

  • how to remap Ctrl to Escape if pressed and released on its own

    - by psvm
    I want to remap Control, so that: A. If it is pressed and released with no other key, it acts as Escape. B. If it is pressed & held together with another key, it acts as Control (no change in behavior in this case). I'm aware of How do I remap certain keys?, so I suspect it may be done with xmodmap. But that answer does not explain how to map the modifier keys. I looked into the examples and grammar sections of the xmodmap manpage, but they do not explain that. The answer in Remapping Caps Lock to Control and Escape (not the usual way) mention that it is not possible to do that to CapsLock, since it is a Lock key, but I hope this may be possible to do it with Control which is a mod key. A solution with something different than xmodmap will also be accepted. (I'm running Xmonad in Ubuntu 12.04, so perhaps there is a way to set this up in xmonad.hs?)

  • IE8 + Jquery ajax call giving parsererror from dJango : for json data which seems valid in Firefox

    - by PlanetUnknown
    The ajax call works fine in FF. the data returned is in JSON here is an example from FF firebug - {"noProfiles": "No profiles have been created, lets start now !"} When I try to print the error in IE8 (& in compatibility modes as well), it says "parsererror". But the output seems to be valid JSON. Here is the ajax function call I'm making. Any pointers would be great ! $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "/get_all_profile_details/", data: "", dataType: "json", beforeSend: function() {alert("before send called");}, success: function(jsonData) { alert("data received"); }, error: function(xhr, txt, err){ alert("xhr: " + xhr + "\n textStatus: " + txt + "\n errorThrown: " + err); } }); The alerts in the error function above give - xhr:<blank> textstatus:parsererror errorThrown: undefined Any pointers would be great ! Note : jquery : 1.3.2

  • dynamically changing the selector text

    - by kelly
    I have a 'next' button which fades out a div, shows another, changes out a graphic and then... I want it to change the actual ID of the 'next' button but neither .html nor replaceWith seem to be working. I have this: $(document).ready(function(){ $('#portfolio').fadeTo(500,0.25); $('#account') .animate({width:"10.1875em",height:"11.1875em",duration:'medium'}); $('#next2_btn').click(function(){ $('#content').fadeTo(300, 0.0, function() { $('#content2').show(300, function() { $('#next2_btn').$('#next2_btn'.value).html('<area shape="rect" coords="826,935,906,971" id="next3_btn" href="#">') $('#account').fadeTo(500,1.0) .animate({marginLeft:"220px", width:"2em",'height' :"2em",duration:'medium'}) .animate({     marginLeft:"400px",     marginTop:"35px",     width:"7em",     height:"7em", duration:"medium"     }, 'medium', 'linear', function() {     $('#statusGraphic').replaceWith('<img src="state2_138x28.gif">');     }) .fadeTo(500,0.5); $('#portfolio') .fadeTo(500,1.5) .animate({marginLeft:"-175px", width:"2em",height:"2.5em",duration:'medium'}) .animate({marginLeft:"-330px", width:"8.5em",height:"9.9375em",duration:'medium'}); }); }) })

  • Javascript recursive data structure definition

    - by Matt Bierner
    I need to define a data structure recursively in Javascript. Here is a simple example of a circular linked list: // List a very simplified example of what the actual (non list) code does. function List(f, r) { return function(){ return [f, r]; }; } var head = List('a', List('b', List('c', head))); When this is executed, head in List 'c' is resolved to undefined, not List 'a' as I need. List is an example function that returns a function (It is not an Javascript list that I can append to). I tried to wrap the definition of head is a self executing named function, but that blew the stack when head was resolved. What is the Javascript style solution that I am overlooking?

  • Catch access to undefined property in JavaScript

    - by avri
    The Spider-Monkey JavaScript engine implements the noSuchMethod callback function for JavaScript Objects. This function is called whenever JavaScript tries to execute an undefined method of an Object. I would like to set a callback function to an Object that will be called whenever an undefined property in the Object is accessed or assigned to. I haven't found a noSuchProperty function implemented for JavaScript Objects and I am curios if there is any workaround that will achieve the same result. Consider the following code: var a = {}; a.__defineGetter__("bla", function(){alert(1);return 2;}); alert(a.bla); It is equivalent to [alert(1);alert(2)] - even though a.bla is undefined. I would like to achieve the same result but to unknown properties (i.e. without knowing in advance that a."bla" will be the property accessed)

  • jQuery event fires on doc ready

    - by gmcalab
    I am trying to set the click event of a button on my form and for some reason I am getting weird behavior. When I bind the click event to a function that takes no arguments, things seem to work fine. But when I bind the event with a function that takes an argument, the event fires on document ready and on click. Any ideas? Example 1: This causes an alert box to fire on ready and when the button is clicked. jQuery(document).ready(function(){ $('myButton').click(alert('foo')); }); Example 2: This causes an alert box to fire ONLY when the button is clicked. jQuery(document).ready(function(){ $('myButton').click(wrapper); }); // External js file function wrapper(){ alert('bar'); }

  • How can I undo this key mapping?

    - by user273872
    First of all sorry my punctuation will be bad. its hard to type when keys are not doing what you expect. Eg it keeps scaring the **** out of me by taking a screen shot when I push the up arrow lolol So anyways, I broke a key on my keyboard and used xkeycaps to remap it to an unused key which worked. But then I realized it screwed up other keys... I think this is the program I used http://www.jwz.org/xkeycaps/man.html And then after doing the modifications I found out how to save them from the second answer in this question How to Map my enter key to a different key down where it says this "When you are happy with your current keymap and want to use it in future X-sessions, run the following command to save it: xmodmap -pke ~/.Xmodmap"

  • HTTP request stream not readable outside of request handler

    - by Jason Young
    I'm writing a fairly complicated multi-node proxy, and at one point I need to handle an HTTP request, but read from that request outside of the "http.Server" callback (I need to read from the request data and line it up with a different response at a different time). The problem is, the stream is no longer readable. Below is some simple code to reproduce the issue. Is this normal, or a bug? function startServer() { http.Server(function (req, res) { req.pause(); checkRequestReadable(req); setTimeout(function() { checkRequestReadable(req); }, 1000); setTimeout(function() { res.end(); }, 1100); }).listen(1337); console.log('Server running on port 1337'); } function checkRequestReadable(req) { //The request is not readable here! console.log('Request writable? ' + req.readable); } startServer();
