  • Encryption of OS X to Windows SMB traffic and password

    - by Brian
I connected to a Windows Server 2008 R2 shared folder from a Mac OS X Mountain Lion computer over the Internet using this command: mount -t smbfs //user@server/path/to/share local_folder Is traffic encrypted by default? What settings do I look at (if any) to know whether it was encrypted? If it wasn't encrypted, what's the easiest way to encrypt it? Was the password I typed at the command line encrypted? Update: sysadmin1138 has addressed the password question. Does anyone know how I can tell if the traffic itself is being encrypted?

  • Deploying Fusion Order Demo on 11.1.1.6 by Antony Reynolds

    - by JuergenKress
Do you need to build a demo for a customer? Why not to use Fusion Order Demo (FOD) and modify it to do some extra things. Great idea, let me install it on one of my Linux servers I said "Turns out there are a few gotchas, so here is how I installed it on a Linux server with JDeveloper on my Windows desktop." Task 1: Install Oracle JDeveloper Studio I already had JDeveloper 11.1.1.6 with SOA extensions installed so this was easy. Task 2: Install the Fusion Order Demo Application First thing to do is to obtain the latest version of the demo from OTN, I obtained the R1 PS5 release. Gotcha #1 – my winzip wouldn’t unzip the file, I had to use 7-Zip. Task 3: Install Oracle SOA Suite On the domain modify the setDomainEnv script by adding “-Djps.app.credential.overwrite.allowed=true” to JAVA_PROPERTIES and restarting the Admin Server. Also set the JAVA_HOME variable and add Ant to the path. I created a domain with separate SOA and BAM servers and also set up the Node Manager to make it easier to stop and start components. • How to get tilemap transparency color working with TiledLib's Demo implementation?

    - by Adam LaBranche
So the problem I'm having is that when using Nick Gravelyn's tiledlib pipeline for reading and drawing tmx maps in XNA, the transparency color I set in Tiled's editor will work in the editor, but when I draw it the color that's supposed to become transparent still draws. The closest things to a solution that I've found are - 1) Change my sprite batch's BlendState to NonPremultiplied (found this in a buried Tweet). 2) Get the pixels that are supposed to be transparent at some point then Set them all to transparent. Solution 1 didn't work for me, and solution 2 seems hacky and not a very good way to approach this particular problem, especially since it looks like the custom pipeline processor reads in the transparent color and sets it to the color key for transparency according to the code, just something is going wrong somewhere. At least that's what it looks like the code is doing. TileSetContent.cs if (imageNode.Attributes["trans"] != null) { string color = imageNode.Attributes["trans"].Value; string r = color.Substring(0, 2); string g = color.Substring(2, 2); string b = color.Substring(4, 2); this.ColorKey = new Color((byte)Convert.ToInt32(r, 16), (byte)Convert.ToInt32(g, 16), (byte)Convert.ToInt32(b, 16)); } ... TiledHelpers.cs // build the asset as an external reference OpaqueDataDictionary data = new OpaqueDataDictionary(); data.Add("GenerateMipMaps", false); data.Add("ResizetoPowerOfTwo", false); data.Add("TextureFormat", TextureProcessorOutputFormat.Color); data.Add("ColorKeyEnabled", tileSet.ColorKey.HasValue); data.Add("ColorKeyColor", tileSet.ColorKey.HasValue ? tileSet.ColorKey.Value : Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Color.Magenta); tileSet.Texture = context.BuildAsset<Texture2DContent, Texture2DContent>( new ExternalReference<Texture2DContent>(path), null, data, null, asset); ... I can share more code as well if it helps to understand my problem. Thank you.

  • Regedit as Current User

    - by user1013264
I'm trying to apply a registry fix for an Outlook/O365 issue on a user's account. The issue is that "regedit" is blocked by a domain GPO. I'm able to run "gpedit" using the local admin account. Question : When I run "regedit as the local admin, am I modifying the registry for the local admin user or the domain user who's actually logged onto the workstation? I'm trying to apply the following fix: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2843677 Also, the path for the above mentioned registry should end in " \Preferences" which is what I'm unable to locate. I'm able to navigate up until \Outlook. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you. Running Outlook 2010.

Tried file=, also with/without absolute path. Is there something else I'm missing? When I execute the same via batch file, I get an error saying The network path was not found I am running as Administrator with full privileges. • Can unit tests verify software requirements?

    - by Peter Smith
I have often heard unit tests help programmers build confidence in their software. But is it enough for verifying that software requirements are met? I am losing confidence that software is working just because the unit tests pass. We have experienced some failures in production deployment due to an untested\unverified execution path. These failures are sometimes quite large, impact business operations and often requires an immediate fix. The failure is very rarely traced back to a failing unit test. We have large unit test bodies that have reasonable line coverage but almost all of these focus on individual classes and not on their interactions. Manual testing seems to be ineffective because the software being worked on is typically large with many execution paths and many integration points with other software. It is very painful to manually test all of the functionality and it never seems to flush out all the bugs. Are we doing unit testing wrong when it seems we still are failing to verify the software correctly before deployment? Or do most shops have another layer of automated testing in addition to unit tests?

  • Computer disappeared from Workgroup

    - by Moayad Mardini
I've a LAN that has 8 computers running Windows XP and only one (Computer A) running Windows Server 2003. When computer A boots, it shows up in all computers' Workgroups, but after 15-30 minutes, it disappears from the Workgroup in all computers, including itself. However, files can still be transferred from and to A via full path shortcuts and network drive maps still work. I don't know if this has anything to do with the problem or not, but if that particular computer is turned on while the LAN cable is plugged in, it doesn't connect to the network, but it connects if the cable is plugged in after the computer is run. Any tips why this is happening? Thanks.

  • SetEnvIf regex for setting Content-Disposition HTTP header

    - by Erik Sorensen
I am attempting to use the IHS 7.0/apache 2.2 SetEnvIf directive to set the filename of a downloaded file based on a url parameter. I think I am pretty close, however if there is a space (encoded or otherwise) in the filename - it fails. example url: http://site.com/path/to/filename.ext/file-title=Nice File Name.ext?file-type=foo apache config: SetEnvIf Request_URI "^.*file-title\=(.*)\??.*$" FILENAME=$1 Header unset "Content-Disposition" Header add "Content-Disposition" "attachment; filename=%{FILENAME}e" UnsetEnv FILENAME An application will specify what is now showing up as "Nice File Title.ext" in the example. This all works great if there are no spaces, however - if there is a space the filename to download will just show up as "Nice". There may or may not be a second set of parameters in the query string (?file-type, etc)

  • In Puppet, how would I secure a password variable (in this case a MySQL password)?

    - by Beaming Mel-Bin
I am using Puppet to provision MySQL with a parameterised class: class mysql::server( $password ) { package { 'mysql-server': ensure => installed } package { 'mysql': ensure => installed } service { 'mysqld': enable => true, ensure => running, require => Package['mysql-server'], } exec { 'set-mysql-password': unless => "mysqladmin -uroot -p$password status", path => ['/bin', '/usr/bin'], command => "mysqladmin -uroot password $password", require => Service['mysqld'], } } How can I protect $password? Currently, I removed the default world readable permission from the node definition file and explicitly gave puppet read permission via ACL. I'm assuming others have come across a similar situation so perhaps there's a better practice.

  • cannot move file: "file cannot be found" (Windows XP)

    - by Steve
I have some CR2 files in a subfolder of My Documents called My Photos on a Windows XP PC. I want to move them across a WIFI network to an external HDD attached to a Windows 7 PC. I have read/write permissions on the external HDD, as I mapped to this HDD using the Windows 7 user account. When I try to move a single CR2 file, I receive "Cannot copy IMG_3317: Cannot find the specified file. Make sure you specify the correct path and file name." If I refresh the source folder, the file is still there. It is not read only, and I have read/write access to the source file. I can view its properties. Why can't I move this file? I have been able to move similar files in the past.

  • How do I stop someone using my domain for Spam emails?

    - by Vizioz Limited
Hi Blog Readers,Every now and then I seem to have one of those low life Viagra sellers using my domain for spam emailing people.I have done everything I can think of to try and prevent then from doing this, but they seem to keep doing it. I just wondered if anyone out there new of a way to stop them? The headers from one of the bounce backs look like this:Return-Path: <[email protected]>Received: from rctp.telecomitalia.it (host49-133-dynamic.52-82-r.retail.telecomitalia.it[82.52.133.49]) by mx.google.com with SMTP id o8si307731weq.161.2010.07.23.05.33.53; Fri, 23 Jul 2010 05:33:59 -0700 (PDT)Received-SPF: fail (google.com: domain of [email protected] does not designate 82.52.133.49 as permitted sender) client-ip=82.52.133.49;Authentication-Results: mx.google.com; spf=hardfail (google.com: domain of [email protected] does not designate 82.52.133.49 as permitted sender) [email protected]: <[email protected]>Date: Fri, 23 Jul 2010 14:33:52 +0200From: Garnett Mckinnie <[email protected]>MIME-Version: 1.0To: NAME REMOVE <[email protected]>Subject: Where we are well established we areAs you can see from the headers, I have setup the SPF record and it is receiving a "hardfail"We are using Google Apps for our email hosting, so you'd kinda hope that they have got things pretty much secured down, so what I am missing? Or is it always going to be possible for other people to fake sending emails using another domain?

  • Calculating Cloud Service Costs [closed]

    - by capdragon
Possible Duplicate: Can you help me with my capacity planning? I would like to scale a web application to the Cloud and wanted to know if anyone had any experience calculating costs and could tell me how I would go about that. I have NO experience with cloud services at all. Currently my production environment consists of two web servers and one database server. If the application continues on a linear growth path, eventually, I want to scale to the cloud to avoid any more long term commitments to extra hardware. I want to be able to create a similar environment I have now as a baseline. Have this as my fixed cost that I will always have. I also want to calculate my variable costs that will increase with more users or bandwidth. I don't have a preferred cloud vendor. Amazon, Rackspace, Terremark or any other is fine as long as understand how to calculate my fixed and variable costs.

  • Functional programming and stateful algorithms

    - by bigstones
I'm learning functional programming with Haskell. In the meantime I'm studying Automata theory and as the two seem to fit well together I'm writing a small library to play with automata. Here's the problem that made me ask the question. While studying a way to evaluate a state's reachability I got the idea that a simple recursive algorithm would be quite inefficient, because some paths might share some states and I might end up evaluating them more than once. For example, here, evaluating reachability of g from a, I'd have to exclude f both while checking the path through d and c: So my idea is that an algorithm working in parallel on many paths and updating a shared record of excluded states might be great, but that's too much for me. I've seen that in some simple recursion cases one can pass state as an argument, and that's what I have to do here, because I pass forward the list of states I've gone through to avoid loops. But is there a way to pass that list also backwards, like returning it in a tuple together with the boolean result of my canReach function? (although this feels a bit forced) Besides the validity of my example case, what other techniques are available to solve this kind of problems? I feel like these must be common enough that there have to be solutions like what happens with fold* or map. So far, reading learnyouahaskell.com I didn't find any, but consider I haven't touched monads yet. (if interested, I posted my code on codereview)

  • Inline Image in ASP.NET

    - by Ricardo Peres
Inline images is a technique that, instead of referring to an external URL, includes all of the image’s content in the HTML itself, in the form of a Base64-encoded string. It avoids a second browser request, at the cost of making the HTML page slightly heavier and not using cache. Not all browsers support it, but current versions of IE, Firefox and Chrome do. In order to use inline images, you must write the img element’s src attribute like this: 1: <img src="data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhEAAOALMAAOazToeHh0tLS/7LZv/0jvb29t/f3//Ub/ 2: /ge8WSLf/rhf/3kdbW1mxsbP//mf///yH5BAAAAAAALAAAAAAQAA4AAARe8L1Ekyky67QZ1hLnjM5UUde0ECwLJoExKcpp 3: V0aCcGCmTIHEIUEqjgaORCMxIC6e0CcguWw6aFjsVMkkIr7g77ZKPJjPZqIyd7sJAgVGoEGv2xsBxqNgYPj/gAwXEQA7" 4: width="16" height="14" alt="embedded folder icon"/> The syntax is: data:[<mediatype>][;base64],<data> I developed a simple control that allows you to use inline images in your ASP.NET pages. Here it is: 1: public class InnerImage: Image 2: { 3: protected override void OnInit(EventArgs e) 4: { 5: String imagePath = this.Context.Server.MapPath(this.ImageUrl); 6: String extension = Path.GetExtension(imagePath).Substring(1); 7: Byte[] imageData = File.ReadAllBytes(imagePath); 8:  9: this.ImageUrl = String.Format("data:image/{0};base64,{1}", extension, Convert.ToBase64String(imageData)); 10:  11: base.OnInit(e); 12: } 13: } Simple, don’t you think?

  • Adding a forum to an existing site

    - by Andrew Heath
I've got a site with ~500 registered members, 300 of which are what you'd call "active". Site data is kept in a MySQL dbase. I'd like to add a myBB forum to the site, but this question applies to any forum really. What I very much want to avoid is requiring my users to register both on the site and on the forum because my userbase is not technically literate and this would confuse a lot of them. However the forum software has its own registration, login, cookie, and password management system which naturally are different from the site's mechanics. I envision the following possibilities: install myBB into the existing database and customize the login code to unify the two systems. This would probably mean changing the site's code to use the myBB system as that would likely be less painful to refactor and wouldn't hurt future myBB upgrade ability. install myBB into separate database and write a bridging script of some sort that auto-registers existing site users with the forum if they elect to participate. Also check new forum registrations against the site's username list to prevent newcomers from taking existing names. run them fully separate and force users to re-register (easiest for ME, but least desirable for them) I would like a suggested course of action from those who have trod this path before... Thank you.

  • Firefox 4 crashing in VNC

    - by MacThePenguin
On my desktop PC I've been using Kubuntu 10.04 for about a year. Recently I've updated Firefox to version 4 using aptitude and the mozilla-team/firefox-stable repository. Since then, I can't run it when I'm logged in through a VNC session. Firefox crashes immediately: when I try to run it from the console I get this error: ###!!! ABORT: X_ShmPutImage: BadShmSeg (invalid shared segment parameter); 3 requests ago: file /build/buildd/firefox-4.0.1+build1+nobinonly/build-tree/mozilla/toolkit/xre/nsX11ErrorHandler.cpp, line 203 ###!!! Firefox 3.x worked fine also from a VNC session. I tried to turn off the hardware acceleration from the Firefox preferences, but that doesn't fix the problem. firefox --sync, firefox -safe-mode and firefox -ProfileManager also crash the same way. Any idea how to troubleshoot this? Thanks. Edit: additional info. • snmpd agent sends duplicate traps

    - by jsnmp
I am on Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS, and I cannot upgrade to a higher version. I have installed the snmpd agent (NET-SNMP version 5.4.2.1) with an apt-get install snmpd command. When an event occurs which sends a trap, two traps are sent for each such event instead of one. For example, when I shut down the agent with command /etc/init.d/snmpd stop, two shutdown traps are sent to the destination host. If I then start back up the agent with command /etc/init.d/snmpd start, then two cold start traps are sent to the destination host. Is this a known issue? Is there a fix for this, or is there a configuration change that is needed to prevent the sending of the duplicate trap? These are the contents of the /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf file: rocommunity public authtrapenable 1 trap2sink <trap destination hostname> public These are the contents of the /etc/default/snmpd file: # This file controls the activity of snmpd and snmptrapd # MIB directories. /usr/share/snmp/mibs is the default, but # including it here avoids some strange problems. export MIBDIRS=/usr/share/snmp/mibs # snmpd control (yes means start daemon). I am using kvm on my ubuntu-server-10.04 amd64 dual core PC. I am trying to install a Windows Vista guest OS. The installation proceeds properly until the system reboot halfway into the installation process, at which point it stops on a black screen and CPU usage goes to near zero. I created the vm with virt-install as follows: virt-install -n vista --connect qemu:///system -r 1024 -vcpus 2 \ --os-type windows --os-variant vista \ --virt-type kvm --accelerate \ -c /dev/sr0 \ --disk path=/dev/main/vista-hd \ --network bridge=br0 \ --vnc --noautoconsole Where /dev/sr0 is the physical drive with the vista installation DVD, and /dev/main/vista-hd is a 20-GB lvm logical volume I created. A number of people seem to have had success installing vista under KVM, but I haven't been able to determine what is causing my problem. Ideas anyone?
