    Hi All, I had a problem when I am using Cilk++, an extension to C++ for parallel computing. I found that I can't declare a vector of reducer objects: typedef cilk::reducer_opadd<int> T_reducer; vector<T_reducer> bitmiss_vec; for (int i = 0; i < 24; ++i) { T_reducer r;   • JQuery animate div "like" a Zoom

    I can never get these to work - sorry - but I I am trying to animate on a mouse over then "re-animate" on a mouse out. I can never get $('#xyz').hover(function(){'something',function(){'somethingelse'}); to work. Hope you guys can help. What I am trying to do is animate + and - 20px (top and left) on some absolutely positioned divs and then add 40px to the width height returning to the original position/width/height on mouse out. I haven't even got to the css widths/heights yet .... Here is my code (which is wrong - well it must be as it doesn't work :-) ) $('.box').hover(function(){ $(this).animate({'top':'-20','left':'-20'},function(){ $(this).animate({'top':'20','left':'20' }); }); Help really appreciated.   • Jquery .val() for input only works once.

    I'm trying to create a chat box for my game. The user type's their chat into the input:text feild and by ither pressing Enter or clicking the button submits the chat text. This all works, however for some reason after the first time a user submits a chat message it fails to get the text from the input field. Edit: I've tried it with and without the line to clear the text box, same results both ways. Your help is appreciated.

    I have a PHP API I'm working with that outputs everything as JSON. I need to call one of the API methods and parse it out using an AJAX request. I am using jQuery (though it shouldn't matter). When I make the request it errors out with a "parsererror" as the textStatus and a "Syntax Error: invalid label" when I make the request. When I add jConfirm after "return" it works...for a second. it pops the warning and then the page refreshes and the dialog box goes away. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Let's say that I have a website that has 100 different pages. Each page uses a common header and footer. Inside the header is some dynamic content that comes from a database. Doing so would reduce SOME of the pain, but it still doesn't feel right since I'd still have to make a call to that function every time. What's the correct way to handle this?

How can I fix this? Or in other words, how can I make a javascript function execute in the order I write it on the page...

  • Managing multiple AJAX calls to PHP scripts

    I have a set of 5 HTML dropdowns that act as filters for narrowing results returned from a mySQL database. The three pertinent filters are for "Province", "Region", and "City" selection, respectively. I have three functions: findSchools(), which runs when any of the filters (marked with CSS class .filter) are changed, and fetches the results via AJAX from a PHP script. Once that is done, two other functions are called... changeRegionOptions(), which, upon changing the "Province" filter, and updates the available options using the same method as the first function, but posting to a different script. changeCityOptions(), which runs if the "Region" filter was changed, and updates options, again using the same method. The problem is that since I want these AJAX functions to run simultaneously, and they by nature run asynchronously, I've tried using $.when to control the execution of the functions, but it doesn't fix the problem. The functions run, but the Region and City filters return blank (no options); the FireBug report shows absolutely no output, even though the POST request went through. The posted parameter for filter_province gets sent normally, but the one for region gets cut off at the end -- it sends as filter_region=, with no value passed. So I'm presuming my logic is wrong somewhere. And of course logout is used in this form on my sites: public function logout() { unset($_SESSION['user_id']); unset($_SESSION['user_name']); } But I think PDO has different way of handling session? I did not find any so what is it can i somehow add $_SESSION in PDO withou changing code much? I am using variables $_SESSION['user_name'] and $_SESSION['user_id'] in all over my web project. Summary: 1) How to use sessions in PDO correctly? 2) What is difference between using $stmt->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC); and $stmt->fetchAll(); Thank you.

  • Update to Easy Slider 1.7 made all my JQuery code stop working.

    I'm pretty novice as a JQuery user goes. I've got some experience implementing different plugins but would be lost trying to customize my own. I can't share the exact site details with you due to a NDA, so I hope someone can give me a little help. I've got a project due today (Just HTML/CSS/JQuery). It has a lightbox, show/hide login menu and a slider is Easy Slider 1.5. Everything was working together, until I attempted to update to Easy Slider 1.7 (see link on same page, I'm too new to post more than 1 link). When I did so, JQuery stopped working for all the plugins. I've attempted to revert back to the original state, by undoing my work (didn't do much), ad JQuery remains broken. Firebug Error Console shared no errors. I can't find anything in the code no matter how hard I look at it. Can anyone help me troubleshoot this JQuery problem? Delivery is supposed to be tonight for the project. In most .NET applications I use the Global ASAX file for profiling, logging, and creating bug reports for all exceptions thrown by the application. Global ASAX isn't available for web services so I'm curious as to what other strategies people have come up with to work around this limitation. When I look at the response text in teh DoSubmitComple function it is {"Success": "true" } Every JSON tester I have tried says that this is valied JSON. What am I doing wrong here?

  • jQuery Tablesorter - column not sorting alphabetically

    I'm not sure what's going wrong here. This is the page: http://www.utexas.edu/ssw/cswr/projects/project-list/ The first column sorts, but it isn't returning data in the correct order (alphabetical). The table itself is being generated by a custom PHP function that pulls info from a WordPress database. I thought that might be the issue, but as you can see the fourth column (End Date) sorts correctly. I also thought it might be the links in the first column that were messing things up, but adding the text-extraction code from this page broke the sorting altogether.
