• Android Marketplace Error: "The server could not process your apk. Try again."

  I have an updated apk - tested successfully on various devices and simulator instances - with the following manifest: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" package="com.myCompany.appName" android:versionCode="2" android:versionName="1.0.1"> <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="3" android:targetSdkVersion="5" /> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET" /> <supports-screens android:largeScreens="true" android:normalScreens="true" android:smallScreens="true" /> <application android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="@string/icon_name" android:debuggable="false"> <activity android:name=".myActivity" android:configChanges="keyboardHidden|orientation"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> </application> </manifest> When I post to Android Marketplace as an upgrade to my existing 1.0 app, I get the aforementioned ambiguous message: "The server could not process your apk. Try again." I've searched elsewhere for this message in hopes of finding out what might be happening, to no avail. (A popular suggestion is to move the uses-sdk element to the top of the manifest, but as you can see it's already at the top.) Clues welcome/appreciated. Update: I just tried to upload the same file again. Now I get a new message: The new apk's versionCode (2) in AndroidManifest.xml must be higher than the old apk's versionCode (2). The server could not process your apk. Try again. Soooo Marketplace did get my upgraded apk after all? (The very first accepted apk's versionCode was 1, so this update was of course bumped to 2.) Confused … Bumping it up to 3 and trying again. Surprise surprise, I get the original "could not process" error all over again. Going in circles. Hmm ... :( Nuther Update: If I exit and re-enter the Marketplace page, now it shows that the app has been uploaded! Except there's no app icon. Curiouser and curiouser ... and this is all happening with a cache-cleared (standards-friendly) browser to boot. So - do I trust the upload? Or start over ... with versionCode="4"? All I want is to get a solid "Upload successful, here's the icon, ready to publish" type of response.

• Connection Error using NHibernate 3.0 with Oracle

  I'm new to NHibernate. My first attempt is to configure and establish connection to Oracle 11.1g using ODP. For this test, I use a test fixture, but I get the following error: Inner exception: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." Outer exception: Could not create the driver from NHibernate.Driver.OracleDataClientDriver. Once switched back to Oracle provider, whichever version, the test fails with the error stated earlier. I've spent 3 days already trying to figure out what is not in order without success. I hope someone out there could provide useful info on what I am doing wrong.

• XNA - Keyboard text input

  Okay, so basically I want to be able to retrieve keyboard text. Like entering text into a text field or something. I'm only writing my game for windows. I've disregarded using Guide.BeginShowKeyboardInput because it breaks the feel of a self contained game, and the fact that the Guide always shows XBOX buttons doesn't seem right to me either. Yes it's the easiest way, but I don't like it. Next I tried using System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow. I created a class that inherited from it, and passed it the Games window handle, implemented the WndProc function to catch WM_CHAR (or WM_KEYDOWN) though the WndProc got called for other messages, WM_CHAR and WM_KEYDOWN never did. So I had to abandon that idea, and besides, I was also referencing the whole of Windows forms, which meant unnecessary memory footprint bloat. So my last idea was to create a Thread level, low level keyboard hook. This has been the most successful so far. I get WM_KEYDOWN message, (not tried WM_CHAR yet) translate the virtual keycode with Win32 funcation MapVirtualKey to a char. And I get my text! (I'm just printing with Debug.Write at the moment) A couple problems though. It's as if I have caps lock on, and an unresponsive shift key. (Of course it's not however, it's just that there is only one Virtual Key Code per key, so translating it only has one output) and it adds overhead as it attaches itself to the Windows Hook List and isn't as fast as I'd like it to be, but the slowness could be more due to Debug.Write. Has anyone else approached this and solved it, without having to resort to an on screen keyboard? or does anyone have further ideas for me to try? thanks in advance. note: This is cross posted from the XNA Creators Forums, so if I get an answer there I'll post it here and Vice-Versa Question asked by Jimmy Maybe I'm not understanding the question, but why can't you use the XNA Keyboard and KeyboardState classes? My comment: It's because though you can read keystates, you can't get access to typed text as and how it is typed by the user. So let me further clarify. I want to implement being able to read text input from the user as if they are typing into textbox is windows. The keyboard and KeyboardState class get states of all keys, but I'd have to map each key and combination to it's character representation. This falls over when the user doesn't use the same keyboard language as I do especially with symbols (my double quotes is shift + 2, while american keyboards have theirs somewhere near the return key).

Feels like a hack. Has anyone got a better approach? I don't like this because I have to read in a 125k string into memory. Is it valid rss to include "complex content" like that - a script block inside an element? Thanks.

• The Skyline Problem.

  I just came across this little problem on UVA's Online Judge and thought, that it may be a good candidate for a little code-golf. The problem: You are to design a program to assist an architect in drawing the skyline of a city given the locations of the buildings in the city. To make the problem tractable, all buildings are rectangular in shape and they share a common bottom (the city they are built in is very flat). The city is also viewed as two-dimensional. A building is specified by an ordered triple (Li, Hi, Ri) where Li and Ri are left and right coordinates, respectively, of building i and Hi is the height of the building. In the diagram below buildings are shown on the left with triples (1,11,5), (2,6,7), (3,13,9), (12,7,16), (14,3,25), (19,18,22), (23,13,29), (24,4,28) and the skyline, shown on the right, is represented by the sequence: 1, 11, 3, 13, 9, 0, 12, 7, 16, 3, 19, 18, 22, 3, 23, 13, 29, 0 The output should consist of the vector that describes the skyline as shown in the example above. In the skyline vector (v1, v2, v3, ... vn) , the vi such that i is an even number represent a horizontal line (height). The vi such that i is an odd number represent a vertical line (x-coordinate). The skyline vector should represent the "path" taken, for example, by a bug starting at the minimum x-coordinate and traveling horizontally and vertically over all the lines that define the skyline. Thus the last entry in the skyline vector will be a 0. The coordinates must be separated by a blank space. If I will not count declaration of provided (test) buildings and including all spaces and tab characters, my solution, in Python, is 223 characters long. • Ho to stop scrolling in a Gallery Widget?

  I loaded some images into a gallery. Now I'm able to scroll but once started scrolling the scrolling won't stop. • How do I verify a DKIM signature in PHP?

  I'll admit I'm not very adept at key verification. What I have is a script that downloads messages from a POP3 server, and I'm attempting to verify the DKIM signatures in PHP. I've already figured out the body hash (bh) validation check, but I can't figure out the header validation. http://www.dkim.org/specs/rfc4871-dkimbase.html#rfc.section.6.1.3 Below is an example of my message headers. I've been able to use the Mail::DKIM package to validate the signature in Perl, so I know it's good. I just can't seem to figure out the instructions in the RFC and translate them into PHP code.   Hi! I would like to add attributes to a Django models programmatically, at run time. For instance, lets say I have a Car model class and want to add one price attribute (database column) per currency, given a list of currencies. What is the best way to do this? I had an approach that I thought would work, but it didn't exactly. • .exe File becomes corrupted when downloaded from server

  Firstly: I'm a lowly web designer who knows just enough PHP to be dangerous and just enough about server administration to be, well, nothing. I probably won't understand you unless you're very clear! The setup: I've set up a website where the client uploads files to a specific directory, and those files are made available, through php, for download by users. The files are generally executable files over 50MB. The client does not want them zipped, as they feel their users aren't savvy enough to unzip them. I'm using the php below to force a download dialogue box and hide the directory where the files are located. It's Linux server, if that makes a difference. The problem: There is a certain file that becomes corrupt after the user tries to download it. It is an executable file, but when it's clicked on, a blank DOS window opens up. The original file, prior to download opens perfectly. There are several other similar files that go through the same exact download procedure, and all of those work just fine. Things I've tried: I've tried uploading the file zipped, then unzipping it on the server to make sure it wasn't becoming corrupt during upload, and no luck. I've also compared the binary code of the original file to the downloaded file that doesn't work, and their exactly the same (so the php isn't accidentally inserting anything extra into the file). Could it be an issue with the headers in my downloadFile function? • F# Add Constructor to a Record?

  Basically I want to have a single construct to deal with serializing to both JSON and formatted xml. Records workd nicley for serializing to/from json. However XmlSerializer requires a parameterless construtor. I don't really want to have to go through the exercise of building class objects for these constructs (principal only). I was hoping there could be some shortcut for getting a parameterless constructor onto a record (perhaps with a wioth statement or something). • dojo/dijit ContentPane setting content

  I am trying append some XML retrieved via a dojo.XHRGet to a dijit.layout.ContentPane. Everything works ok in Firefox (3.6) but in Chrome, I only get back 'undefined' in the particular ContentPane.   If I start ant compile in JDeveloper all classes are compiled successfully and copied to the classes folder. But if I run ant compile from console then no classes are copied to the classes folder. Does anyone know why? • Silverlight ViewBase in separate assembly - possible?

  I have all my views in a project inheriting from a ViewBase class that inherits from UserControl. • how to pass parameter to a webservice using ksoap2?

I'm starting simple and just trying to extract the name (\gpx\name). Because this has to go out to HTML, and the user has to be able to select the text on the screen, I can't do anything like hidden divs or hidden input fields. The only data I will have is the character range selected on screen. To be specific, this is what it looks like: 1 0:00 --> 0:05 He was bored. So bored.   I'm confused about the correct way of using asynchronous socket methods in C#. I will refer to these two articles to explain things and ask my questions: MSDN article on asynchronous client sockets and devarticles.com article on socket programming. My question is about the BeginReceive() method. The MSDN article uses these two functions to handle receiving data: private static void Receive(Socket client) { try { // Create the state object. Now my questions are: What is the point of passing a state to the BeginReceive method if we're only working with a single socket? Is it to avoid using a class field? It seems like there's little point in doing it, but maybe I'm missing something. How can the state parameter help when dealing with multiple sockets? If I'm calling client.BeginReceive(...), won't all the data be read from the client socket? The devarticles.com tutorial makes it sound like in this call: m_asynResult = m_socClient.BeginReceive (theSocPkt.dataBuffer,0,theSocPkt.dataBuffer.Length, SocketFlags.None,pfnCallBack,theSocPkt); Data will be read from the theSocPkt.thisSocket socket, instead of from the m_socClient socket. In their example the two are one and the same, but what happens if that is not the case? I just don't really see where that last argument is useful or at least how it helps with multiple sockets. If I have multiple sockets, I still need to call BeginReceive on each of them, right?
