  • jQuery not loading on Master Page when the Content Page is in a child folder.

    I have a site where I am trying to implement a jQuery UI based MessageBox in my master page. Content pages are arranged accoring to business area folders, i.e. '~/Branding/Contracts.aspx'. I find that when I load such a content page, jQuery, which is referenced in the master page as below, does not load. I assume that this is because the browser is requesting 'Branding/Scripts/jQuery '. What can I do about this?   • StructureMap : How to define default constructor by code ?

    Hi, I can't figure out how to define the default constructor (when it exists overloads) for a type in StructureMap (version 2.5) by code. I want to get an instance of a service and the container has to inject a Linq2Sql data context instance into it. I wrote this in my 'bootstrapper' method : ForRequestedType<MyDataContext>().TheDefault.Is.OfConcreteType<MyDataContext>(); When I run my app, I got this error : StructureMap Exception Code: 202 No Default Instance defined for PluginFamily MyNamespace.Data.SqlRepository.MyDataContext, MyNamespace.Data, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null If I comment out all Linq2Sql generated contructors that I don't need, it works fine. Update : Oh, and I forgot to say that I would not use the [StructureMap.DefaultConstructor] attribute.

  • Career advice: I am best at what I hate most

    I think my career has entered a vicious circle which I would like to exit: I am best at what I hate most. And because I am good at that, I always receive that kind of assignments, and I do them as expected or even better. Which makes me more of an expert and brings me more similar tasks. My "expertise" is what (I think) every programmer hates: legacy systems. I can very quickly learn systems, and modify them, migrate them, extract web services from them whatever (without breaking them). Never to develop more functionality or to solve interesting or original problems. Just have that work with Java 1.4, or convert it into a rest-full service or support oracle too. I feel (and I am told) that I am highly regarded and very helpful to my company. But I hate what I do. What would you do in my place?

  • Personal projects competing with employers projects?

    Recently at my place of employment it was discovered that I was developing an outside personal project (personal project being a project I have been working on, in my spare time, for my own purposes, using my personal equipment). My employer has an idea which is very similar to my outside project but has not been started, created, put out to market yet. When I originally started working for the company I signed a non-compete contract. My employer is now saying that because my outside/personal project is similar to theirs that I am now a competitor and breaching my original non-compete agreement. What I would like to know is where do I stand in this situation? Also my personal project has not been fully developed, nor is available to anyone other than myself. So if we both don’t have full/released products (full meaning put out to the public) are we actually competitors? There is going to be a meeting in the coming weeks to discuss this issue and would like to have a proper argument in place. I know some of this conversation is best held with a lawyer but I don’t have the money to do that yet. I’m not looking for full legal advice just anyone who has maybe experienced this or can give any advice. Thanks in advance!

Here is what we do when we push updates to the production. In VS, publish the smart-client application into a localhost directory Copy/Paste the directory to the webservers The deployment address from VS is localhost while it is being used in some other production website. Is that a proper way to deploy smart-client applications?

    I'm working on a website on a Fmylife style. Now the homepage is the page showing the list of the latest posts. But I think there is a problem with that: The most "interesting" page is the one showing the top posts of the last days, but that page has very few visits compared to the main page. I suppose that's only because the main page is the "default" one. So, I've been thinking of making a home page that shows no posts (only one at the top of the page) but 4 big buttons showing the visitors what are the options to browse the content. But I'm also afraid that most users will not click any option and leave the site having seen no posts. So I don't know what to do. Obviously I have no idea of what will be good from a usability/efficiency point of view. Maybe a mix of the two options will be the best, but I don't know how to mix them. Any advice or idea will be greatly appreciated.     I am trying to use a variable from the code-behind page in a sqlDataSource WHERE statement. I am using Membership.GetUser().ProviderUserKey to obtain the UserId of the logged in user and I would like to only show record that have this UserId as a foreign key. How can I write the SQL for this?   • registering httpModules in web.config

    I am trying to register a custom HttpHandler in the web.config file. MSDN's example shows an entry that is commented out...um which doesn't work so well. When I uncomment I receive a Could not load file or assembly 'HttpModule.cs' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. error. The file name is HttpModule.cs and the class name is MyHttpModule. There is no explicit namespace yet. <httpModules> <add name="MyHttpModule" type="MyHttpModule, HttpModule" /> <httpModules> I am sure I am overlooking the obvious. Do I need to specify the file path somewhere? Thanks in advance.

  • I have a very long and repetitive python path, where do I look to correct this?

    I know it is probably not necessary to paste the whole path, but just for the record I have done so below. Whenever I run a python command, it takes a long time to load this path I suppose.   • Implement password recovery best practice

    Hello I want to to implement password recovery in my web application. I'd like to avoid using secret questions. I could just send the password by e-mail but I think it would be risky. Maybe I could generate a new temporary random password and send it by e-mail but I think it is as risky as the above point. Can I send a url by e-mail for example http://mysite.com/token=xxxx where xxxx is a random token associated with the user. So when the user navigates to that url he/she can reset the password. Any ideas?

  • Getting Started with UDK

    I've been trying for a couple of days now to learn UDK, but I seem to be stuck at making that leap to understanding how everything works together. I understand the syntax, that's all well and good, and I pretty much get how classes and .ini files interact. As for the API, I have the entire reference as pretty decent Doxygen-style HTML output. What I'm looking for is a sort of intermediate tutorial on game creation from scratch (as opposed to modding UT3 itself), more advanced than just learning language syntax, but not yet to the level of going through the API step by step. I'm looking for some guide to the structure of the internals - how GameInfo and PlayerController interact, where Pawn comes in, etc. - a way to visualize the big picture. Does anyone have a particular favorite intermediate-level tutorials (or set of tutorials) that they used when first learning UDK?
