• Error preverifying class NetBeans 6.8 using lwuit api

  I'm trying to develop a portable J2ME appli, but Netbeans do a class preverification of LWUIT library that uses optional APIs that some configurations don't have, so I get this error when I try to compile on a configuration without JRS-184 (M3G Optional API): Error preverifying class com.sun.lwuit.animations.Transition3D VERIFIER ERROR com/sun/lwuit/animations/Transition3D.initTransition()V: Cannot find class javax/microedition/m3g/Node I don't want to remove the classes from the LWUIT API because that classes works on other configurations compatibles with JRS-184 What I want is that NetBeans do not preverify the library, It is posible?   Hi all, Excel 2007 Hangs When Closing via .NET How to properly clean up Excel interop objects in C# How to properly clean up interop objects in C# All of these struggle with the problem that C# does not release the Excel COM objects properly after using them. There are mainly two directions of working around this issue: Kill the Excel process when Excel is not used anymore. Take care to assign each COM object used explicitly to a variable and to Marshal.ReleaseComObject all of these. Some have stated that 2 is too tedious and there is always some uncertainty whether you forget to stick to this rule at some places in the code. Still 1 seems dirty and dangerous to me, also I could imagine that in an environment with restricted access killing processes is not allowed. So I've been thinking about solving 2 by creating another proxy object model which mimics the Excel object model (for me, it would suffice to implement the objects I actually need). The principle would look as follows: Each Excel Interop class has its proxy which wraps an object of that class. The proxy releases the COM object in its destructor. The proxy mimics the interface of the Interop class (maybe by inheriting it). Any methods that usually return another COM object return a proxy instead. The other methods simply delegate the implementation to the inner COM object. Is it impossible/bad/dangerous to do the ReleaseCOMObject in the destructor? (I've only seen proposals to put it in a Dispose() rather than in a destructor - why?) If the approach makes sense, any suggestions to improve it?

• Unable to set cookie in response header (newcookie doesn't show in external browser) : Jersey jax-rs

But the browser is not storing the cookie. in external browser: the header doesn't have any set-cookie field. Should I use HTTPServletResponse? But shouldn't the javax.ws.rs.core.Response work as well?

• drawRect not being called in my subclass of UIImageView

  I have subclassed UIImageView and tried to override drawRect so I could draw on top of the image using Quartz 2D. I know this is a dumb newbie question, but I'm not seeing what I did wrong. Here's the interface: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface UIImageViewCustom : UIImageView { } - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect; And the implementation: #import "UIImageViewCustom.h" @implementation UIImageViewCustom - (id)initWithFrame:(CGRect)frame { if (self = [super initWithFrame:frame]) { } return self; } - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { // do stuff } I set a breakpoint on drawRect and it never hits, leading me to think it never gets called at all. Isn't it supposed to be called when the view first loads? Have I incorrectly overridden it?

• MVC2 DataAnnotations validation with inheritance

  Hi, I have a .NET 2.0 class the properties of which are marked virtual.I need to use the class as a model in a MVC2 application. So, I have created a .NET 3.5 class inheriting from the .NET 2.0 class and added the DataAnnotations attributes to the overriden properties in the new class. A snippet of what I have done is below // .NET 2.0 class public class Customer { private string _firstName = ""; public virtual string FirstName { get { return _firstName; } set { _firstName = value; } } } // .NET 3.5 class public class MVCCustomer : Customer { [Required(ErrorMessage="Firstname is required")] public override string FirstName { get { return base.FirstName; } set { base.FirstName = value; } } } I have used the class as the model for a MVC2 view using the HtmlFor helpers. Serverside validation works correctly but the client side validation does not. Specifically the validation error is not displayed on the page. What am I missing, or is it only possible to do this using buddy classes. Thanks.

• OperationalError "unable to open database file" processing query results with SQLAlchemy and SQLite3

  I'm running into this little problem that I hope is just a dumb user error. It looks like some sort of a size limit with a query to a SQLite database. I managed to reproduce the issue with an in-memory DB and a simple script shown below. I can make it work by either reducing the number of records in the DB; or by reducing the size of each record; or by dropping the order_by() call. I am using Python 2.5.5 and SQLAlchemy 0.6.0 in a Cygwin environment. • jquery ui autocomplete is changing my listbox

  I am trying to change my comboboxes to use autocomplete so i leverage the code listed here (which worked perfectly for my dropdowns) The issue is that i also on the same page have a listbox with the following code: <%= Html.ListBox("Cars", Model.BodyParts.Select( x => new SelectListItem { Text = x.Name, Value = x.Id, Selected = Model.CarsSelected.Any(y => y.Id == x.Id) } ))%> and it appears that the jquery ui code is changing this to a autocomplete dropdown as well (as opposed to keeping it as a multi select list box) any idea how to prevent this from happening?

  I have an application that was built with MVC1 and am in the process of updating to MVC2. I have a custom DLL and BLL, of which the model objects are custom business objects that reside in a separate class library. I was using this validation library in MVC1, which worked great. It worked great, but I want to eliminate the extra plugins and use what is available. Rather than use the Enterprise Library validation attributes I have converted to using DataAnnotations and want to use jQuery validation as the client side validation. My questions are: 1) Is the MicrosoftMvcJQueryValidation JS file still required, where do I download. 2) How to you automate the validation to views that do not have models, IE Membership sign in page? 3) How to you add model errors in a custom business layer.   I'm getting data where the database is hidden behind a WCF service. Is it possible to use Entity Framework in a scenario where I have custom objects coming from a web service? (No access to the external database, and no current plans for insert/update/delete logic) Starting with an empty EF model and adding an entity I get this error on compile: No mapping specified for instances of the EntitySet and AssociationSet in the EntityContainer .. Is it possible to make an entity this way, and fill it with data received from an object? (In this case a WCF, but could also be a predefined model class/xml data) If the web service retured a Customer object I could do something like this with a dataset: Make an unbound table and do a loop through the customer properties adding them to a temp row, add it with tbl_Customer.Addtbl_CustomerRow(customerRow) to get my view filled. thanks, nakori

  The following code runs too slowly even though everything seems to be vectorized. from numpy import * from scipy.sparse import * n = 100000; i = xrange(n); j = xrange(n); data = ones(n); A=csr_matrix((data,(i,j))); x = A[i,j] The problem seems to be that the indexing operation is implemented as a python function, and invoking A[i,j] results in the following profiling output 500033 function calls in 8.718 CPU seconds Ordered by: internal time ncalls tottime percall cumtime percall filename:lineno(function) 100000 7.933 0.000 8.156 0.000 csr.py:265(_get_single_element) 1 0.271 0.271 8.705 8.705 csr.py:177(__getitem__) (...) Namely, the python function _get_single_element gets called 100000 times which is really inefficient. Why isn't this implemented in pure C? Does anybody know of a way of getting around this limitation, and speeding up the above code? Should I be using a different sparse matrix type?

  In my application, I have models that have the Users model as a Foreign key, eg: class Doctor(models.Model): username=models.ForeignKey(User, unique=True) ... In the admin site, when adding a new Doctor, I have the option of adding a new User next to the username field. This is exactly what I want, but in the dialog that opens, it asks for a username and password for the new user; I would also like to be able to assign a group to this new user.   I'm building a Rails application using MongoDB as the back-end and MongoMapper as the ORM tool. Suppose in version 1, I define the following model: class SomeModel include MongoMapper::Document key :some_key, String end Later in version 2, I realize that I need a new required key on the model. So, in version 2, SomeModel now looks like this: class SomeModel include MongoMapper::Document key :some_key, String key :some_new_key, String, :required => true end How do I migrate all my existing data to include some_new_key? Assume that I know how to set a reasonable default value for all the existing documents. Taking this a step further, suppose that in version 3, I realize that I really don't need some_key at all. So, now the model looks like this class SomeModel include MongoMapper::Document key :some_new_key, String, :required => true end But all the existing records in my database have values set for some_key, and it's just wasting space at this point. How do I reclaim that space? With ActiveRecord, I would have just created migrations to add the initial values of some_new_key (in the version1 - version2 migration) and to delete the values for some_key (in the version2 - version3 migration). What's the appropriate way to do this with MongoDB/MongoMapper? It seems to me that some method of tracking which migrations have been run is still necessary. Does such a thing exist? EDITED: I think people are missing the point of my question. There are times where you want to be able to run a script on a database to change or restructure the data in it. I gave two examples above, one where a new required key was added and one where a key can be removed and space can be reclaimed. How do you manage running these scripts? ActiveRecord migrations give you an easy way to run these scripts and to determine what scripts have already been run and what scripts have not been run. I can obviously write a Mongo script that does any update on the database, but what I'm looking for is a framework like migrations that lets me track which upgrade scripts have already been run.

• Fine-grained permissions on SVN Repository

  Hello, I'm trying to setup a SVN repo for a whole bunch of users. Different users need to have different levels of access to areas of the repository. A trivial example might be that frontend engineers need access to the "view" and "controllers" but not "model", while backend engineers need access to the "controllers" and "model" but not "view". It needs to be one repository, because (as far as I know) that's the only way to ensure that commits touching multiple modules are atomic. Is there a fine-grained way to control user access to a repository? Thanks!

  Hello I want to write a program for simulating a motion of high number (N = 1000 - 10^5 and more) of bodies (circles) on 2D plane. All bodies have equal size and the only force between them is elastic collision. I want to get something like but in larger scale, with more balls and more dense filling of the plane (not a gas model as here, but smth like boiling water model). So I want a fast method of detection that ball number i does have any other ball on its path within 2*radius+V*delta_t distance. I don't want to do a full search of collision with N balls for each of i ball. (This search will be N^2.) PS Sorry for loop-animated GIF. Just press Esc to stop it. (Will not work in Chrome).

  Hi, I'm having difficulties animating my custom layer property using Core Anmiation. My question is how the presentation of a CALayer is generated. Here is what I have now: @interface MyLayer : CALayer { NSMutableDictionary* customProperties; } @property (nonatomic, copy) NSMutableDictionary* customProperties; @end And when I try to animate the key path "customProperties.roll" using CABasicAnimation and addAnimation:forKey:, it seems that the customProperties variable doesn't get copied from the model layer to the presentation layer, and the customProperties of the presentation layer appears to be nil, failing to update the value for the key "roll". Is there a way to animate values in a dictionary correctly? What is the exact relationship between a model layer and a presentation layer while being animated? Thanks!
