    This works: $customerBox = mysql_query("MY SQL STATEMENT HERE"); $boxRow = mysql_fetch_array($customerBox); $customerBox = mysql_query("MY SQL STATEMENT AGAIN"); while($item = mysql_fetch_assoc($customerBox)) { foreach ($item as $columnName = $value) { if (empty($value)) { print $columnName; } } } This does not: $customerBox = mysql_query("MY SQL STATEMENT HERE"); $boxRow = mysql_fetch_array($customerBox); while($item = mysql_fetch_assoc($customerBox)) { foreach ($item as $columnName = $value) { if (empty($value)) { print $columnName; } } } Why? I guess I don't understand how variables work yet.

Running it without the stream_filter zips right through with a constant memory footprint of ~10 MB. What gives?

    I've done a lot of googling around this, and practically all of the answers I find are pre 2011, and are answered in the usual, here are the 5 most popular frameworks... So I'd like to update this topic for 2012, I'm going to build a web application with a pretty complex back-end system driving it, and I'd like to use a framework so I don't have to reinvent the wheel. My application will be hugely user based, so I would appreciate a built in authentication/validation system. (When this is missing it takes me a good 2 weeks of intense and frivolous research to try to pick the "best" one (I don't want to roll my own, I don't think I'd do a better job than what's out there). I've looked into a tried a few, so I'll give you what I like and don't like, but I don't want to bias answers too much. I don't like: Frameworks that auto-generate bloated code. If they have the feature, fine, but if I have to use it, I get frustrated. Backwards compatibility with php4, eww. I don't need backwards compatibility at all. I like: Getting up and running quickly (but without all the auto-generation bogus), what I mean by this is that all the essentials are there, so I don't have to come to a grinding halt to research what the best 3rd party plugin is to get the feature I need. Thorough documentation, good tutorials. Good presentation of these materials. Please explain why your framework suggestion is good, don't just give the name of a framework without any justification. Thanks!

    I have tried this in another post but trying my luck again. My current array that I am making produce a different result than I am wanting. I want to have this kind of out put Row: 0: Column: 1: ID 1 Row: 1: Column: 1: ID 1 Row: 0: Column: 2: ID 2 Row: 1: Column: 2: ID 2 Row: 2: Column: 2: ID 2 Row: 3: Column: 2: ID 2 Row: 0: Column: 3: ID 3 Row: 1: Column: 3: ID 3 As you can see the Rows and columns change based on the ID. So if the ID is same it just go to next row in the same column. However if id is changed it goes to next column and rows start. Currently I my code looks like this for($i=0;$i<count($pv->rawData); $i++) { $relative=0; $relativeTypeID = -1; if ($pv->rawData[$i]->relativeTypeID != $relativeTypeID) { $relativeTypeID = $pv->rawData[$i]->relativeTypeID; $iTypeCount++; } if(!empty($pv->rawData[$i]->description)) { $pv->results[$i][$iTypeCount][0] = $pv->rawData[$i]->description; echo "Row: ".$i.": Column: ".$iTypeCount.": ID".$relativeTypeID." <br>"; } } It gives me the following output Row: 0: Column: 1: ID1 Row: 1: Column: 2: ID1 Row: 2: Column: 3: ID2 Row: 3: Column: 4: ID2 Row: 4: Column: 5: ID2 Row: 5: Column: 6: ID2 Row: 6: Column: 7: ID2 Row: 7: Column: 8: ID2 Row: 8: Column: 9: ID2 Row: 9: Column: 10: ID2 Row: 10: Column: 11: ID2 Row: 11: Column: 12: ID2 Row: 12: Column: 13: ID2 …. ….     I have the following code that is being used to successfully upload images: $fileName = $_FILES['file']['name']; $fileSize = $_FILES['file']['size']; $fileType = $_FILES['file']['type']; $fileTmp = $_FILES['file']['tmp_name']; list($origWidth, $origHeight) = getimagesize($fileTmp); The catch is I'm getting an 'Undefined index' on each line. I have print_r($_FILES) just before this code and each array variable exists and I've echo out varibles like $fileName and can see each has a value. Also I have put this before this code block and it makes no difference: $fileName = $fileSize = $fileType = $fileTmp = ''; Any suggestions how I can ensure these variables are defined? thankyou

    I always see people in serious projects use :: everywhere, and - only occasionally in local environment. I only use - myself and never end up in situations when I need a static value outside of a class. Am I a bad person? As I understand, the only situation when -> won't work is when I try following: class StaticDemo { private static $static } $staticDemo = new StaticDemo( ); $staticDemo->static; // wrong $staticDemo::static; // right But am I missing out on some programming correctness when I don't call simple public methods by :: ? Or is it just so that I can call a method without creating an instance?
