    Hi, I'm trying to use the PageFormat information to modify my javax.swing based printout prior to printing it. I am stumped as to how I can get the PageFormat from the PrintJob (which is obtained using getPrinterJob() and printDialog()). I know there is the getPageFormat method, but I can't figure out how to get the PrintRequestAttributeSet (which is not the printJob.getPrintService().getPrintAttributes()). Honestly, all I really want to know is the width and height of the page. Any ideas on how I can do that? Thanks.

    I got this thing i'm trying to solve: I got a ListView created using Wicket ( 1.5 ) with a lot of elements and a scroll. When new items are available, the user is asked if he would like to refresh the list via a message backed by an AjaxLink: public void onClick(AjaxRequestTarget ajaxTarget) { /* do something ... */ ajaxTarget.addComponent(_list); } So on click the list gets reloaded and the scroll position is reset to zero. Is there any way i can call JavaScript before the list reloads the save the scroll position? (I know how to get/save the scroll position ( .scrollTop() ) , i just don't know how to call a function right before AJAX ).

When i add volatile modifier to isOn nothing changes, but if I change isOn to some class with boolean field and change this field then threads are see changes and it works fine Thanks in advance.

  • URL decoding Japanese characters etc. in Java

    I have a servlet that receives some POST data. Because this data is x-www-form-urlencoded, a string such as ???? would be encoded to &#12469;&#12508;&#12486;&#12531;. How would I unencode this string back to the correct characters? I have tried using URLDecoder.decode("encoded string", "UTF-8"); but it doesn't make a difference. The reason I would like to unencode them, is because, before I display this data on a webpage, I escape & to &amp; and at the moment, it is escaping the &s in the encoded string so the characters are not showing up properly.

What I was curious about was how this exactly works.     Good Morning - it is school assignment, I am not asking for any source code (if you can provide any pesudo code it would be awesome). Here is the problem :( I have to create a term frequency table. It is not pure TF, I just need to count the words and write down. I know basic steps to do it 1 - extract all terms (I can do it with file reader) 2 - remove repeating terms (I can do it with TreeMap) The output of 2nd step would be Niga, ponga, dinga, bitlo, etc. 3 - Now I have to see if there is any word in current file from above terms or not, if yes then I will count. Now this is my problem, I stucked on step 3 :( I have some idea how to count words with TreeMap (treemap.containskey etc.) but it would be global count not local count for each file :( Any pseudo code?

    Basically I have a proof-of-concept application that is a digital recipe book. Each Recipe is an object and each object has, among other fields, a Vector containing arrays. The Vector is the list of all ingredients in the Recipe while each ingredient has an array showing the name of the ingredient, the amount, and the unit for that amount. I want to save each Recipe to XML so that they can be accessed by the user. How can I store a Vector of String arrays in XML or any other sort of file so that it can later be recalled and accessed?

Implementing the client side is straight-forward, since I can easily open connection with any protocol and send the request to the server-side. On the servers-side, on the other hand, I would like to listen both for UDP and TCP connections on the same port. Moreover, I like the the server to open new thread for each connection request. I have adopted the approach explained in: link text I have extended this code sample by creating new threads for each TCP/UDP request. This works correctly if I use TCP only, but it fails when I attempt to make UDP bindings. Please give me any suggestion how can I correct this. tnx

But if for instance the user inputs an invalid city, zip etc the XML page that gets read from is empty and the app force closes with nullpointerexception.     I'm trying to make like a skype-instant messager, my idea for it is to have one server which handles multiple connections for the clients. What I now have is a friend list etc, but now I want to create Threads both for server and client to handle a conversation. The problem is that I need multiple connections between a server and one client for every conversation(I think). but i dont think it's possible. Does someone have another way for doing this or maybe a way to make multiple connections between the server and a client?     I am testing the performance of a data streaming system that supports continuous queries. This is how it works: - There is a polling service which sends data to my system. - As data passes into the system, each query evaluates based on a window of the stream at the current time. - The window slides as data passes in. My problem is this, when I add more queries to the system, I should expect the throughput to decrease because it can't cope the data rate. However, I actually observe an increase in throughput. I can't understand why this is the case and I am guessing that it's something to do with the way the JVM allocates CPU, memory etc. Can anyone shed any light to my problem?

    As the title says it, I have a huge xml file (GBs) <root> <keep> <stuff> ... </stuff> <morestuff> ... </morestuff> </keep> <discard> <stuff> ... </stuff> <morestuff> ... </morestuff> </discard> </root> and I'd like to transform it into a much smaller one which retains only a few of the elements. My parser should do the following: 1. Parse through the file until a relevant element starts. 2. Copy the whole relevant element (with children) to the output file. go to 1. step 1 is easy with SAX and impossible for DOM-parsers. step 2 is annoying with SAX, but easy with the DOM-Parser or XSLT. so what? - is there a neat way to combine SAX and DOM-Parser to do the task?
