• WiX unresolved reference error

  I'm using Wix version 3.0.5419.0. I have two .wxs files, one which is a fragment, and another which uses the fragment to create the .msi file.   I want to be able to safely send DateTime's over WCF without having to worry about any implicit or automatic TimeZone conversions. The dates I want to send are "logical" dates. year month day, there should be no time component. I have various server processes and client process that run on a variety of machines with different TimeZone settings. What I would like to ensure is that when a user enters a date in a textfield (or uses a date picker component) on any client that exact what they see at data entry is what is sent over WCF, used by the server and seen by other clients when they request the data. I am a little confused by the various questions and answers on this site concerning DateTime.Kind (unspecified, UTC, local).

• Delphi 2010 Error Insight incorrectly flags "Undeclared Identifier"

  In D2010, Error Insight is incorrectly underlining in red types like "TOpenDialog" (even though my unit and project's uses both include Dialogs). Also, in my method TMyFrame.Foo, it fails the same way by flagging a reference to a VCL component in my TMyFrame -- even though Foo and the component are both part of TMyFrame. SO suggested I read several threads on this subject. One mentions a D2009 fix for this. Is there a D2010 fix? Other postings have suggested that Error Insight yields too many false alarms and should just be turned off. Any suggestions?

  Hi, I've got a richfaces calendar component defined as <rich:calendar id="startDate" value="#{myBean.dateSet.startDate}" timeZone="#{myBean.dateSet.timeZone}" datePattern="#{myBean.dateSet.datePattern}" enableManualInput="true" immediate="true"> <a4j:support event="onchanged" action="#{myBean.adjustEndDate}" reRender="startDate,endDate" ajaxSingle="true" /> </rich:calendar> when I'm changing the date using the calendar popup/gui everything is working fine. However when I'm changing it via the input text field, the value is not being updated to myBean.dateSet.startDate, although it is being updated correctly on the calendar component itself (i.e. if I click the icon for calendar popup it shows the updated current date). Any suggestions on how I can get it to update the value to myBean correctly? Thanks!

• JLabel animation in JPanel

  After scratching around I found that it's best to implement a custom image component by extending a JLabel. So far that has worked great as I can add multiple "images" (jlabels without the layout breaking. I just have a question that I hope someone can answer for me. I noticed that in order to animate JLabels across the screen I need to setlayout(null); and setbounds of the component and then to animate eventually setlocation(x,y);. Is this a best practice or a terrible way to animate a component? I plan on eventually making an animation class but I don't want to do so and end up having to chuck it.   Any help is appreciated: I'm developing a C#.Net app in VS2010 that interacts with Excel. The app works correctly on my local machine. Uploading to a remote Windows 2003 server however, breaks the app. Originally, I received the following message Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {00024500-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} failed due to the following error: 80070005 After Googling the problem (which suggested a permissions problem) i tried this: Installing Excel 2007 Going into Component Services on the remote server and following the instructions here: http://blog.crowe.co.nz/archive/2006/03/02/589.aspx Now I get this message on the same operation: Exception from HRESULT: 0x800A03EC Google searches seem to be suggesting that this is a version match error. However, both the local machine and the remote server use Excel 2007. Any suggestions would be very welcome. Thanks in advance. -Daniel

  I'm getting this error when creating a bitmap context: CGBitmapContextCreate: unsupported parameter combination: 8 integer bits/component; 24 bits/pixel; 3-component color space; kCGImageAlphaNone; 7936 bytes/row. Here's the code (note that the context is based on the parameters of an existing CGImage: context = CGBitmapContextCreate(NULL, (int)pi.bufferSizeRequired.width, (int)pi.bufferSizeRequired.height, CGImageGetBitsPerComponent(imageRef), 0, CGImageGetColorSpace(imageRef), CGImageGetBitmapInfo(imageRef)); Width is 2626, height is 3981. I've leaving bytesPerRow at zero so that it gets calculated automatically for me, and it's chosen 7936 of its own accord. So, where on Earth is the inconsistency? It's driving me nuts.

• Looking for a workaround for IE 6/7 "Unspecified Error" bug when accessing offsetParent; using ASP.N

  I'm using jQuery UI's draggable and droppable libraries in a simple ASP.NET proof of concept application. This page uses the ASP.NET AJAX UpdatePanel to do partial page updates. The page allows a user to drop an item into a trashcan div, which will invoke a postback that deletes a record from the database, then rebinds the list (and other controls) that the item was drug from. All of these elements (the draggable items and the trashcan div) are inside an ASP.NET UpdatePanel. When I then grab a draggable with my cursor, I get an "htmlfile: Unspecified error." exception. I can resolve this problem in the jQuery library by replacing elem.offsetParent with calls to this function that I wrote: function IESafeOffsetParent(elem) { try { return elem.offsetParent; } catch(e) { return document.body; } } I also have to avoid calls to elem.getBoundingClientRect() as it throws the same error. For those interested, I only had to make these changes in the jQuery.fn.offset function in the Dimensions Plugin. My questions are: Although this works, are there better ways (cleaner; better performance; without having to modify the jQuery library) to solve this problem? If not, what's the best way to manage keeping my changes in sync when I update the jQuery libraries in the future? For, example can I extend the library somewhere other than just inline in the files that I download from the jQuery website. • Object/Module not found: RDS from VB6 app to a Win2003 server

  I have a rather legacy application EXE written in VB6 and running on a Windows 2000 server that uses RDS (Remote Data Services) to access a business object DLL (also written in VB6) running on a Windows 2003 server. The DLL has never run on this server (we're moving the component off the old W2K server), but it is registered and defined as a component on the W2k+3 server. The specific code where the DLL is being called is: Private m_rdsDS As RDS.DataSpace Dim oARImport As Object Set oARImport = m_rdsDS.CreateObject("ARBatches.BL_ARBatches", txtWebServer) MsgBox oARImport.AddBatches(m_vConnParms, arbParseString, LinesFromFile) The CreateObject appears to work fine, but calling the method AddBatches raises the error number 8209 "Internet Server Error: Object/module not found." I'm leaning towards the idea that there is a permission issue somewhere at the root of the problem, but if this were the case, why wouldn't it say "You don't have permission"? I'd really like to rewrite the whole app but "they" won't let me.

  I am trying to install php on my windows 7 machine. I have installed IIS 6.x and I have also installed php. I used this tutorial http://blogs.iis.net/bills/archive/2006/09/19/How-to-install-PHP-on-IIS7-_2800_RC1_2900_.aspx The only thing I didnt understand is this part: 4) Install IIS7, making sure you install the ISAPI Extension component (for PHP-ISAPI - which is what I use) or the CGI component (if you prefer CGI) during IIS installation (ISAPI and CGI are not installed by default) Now when i go to localhost I get an error. HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid. 4: <handlers> 5: <add name="PHP" path="*.php" verb="*" modules="FastCgiModule" scriptProcessor="C:\web\php5\php-cgi.exe" resourceType="Unspecified" /> 6: </handlers> Also php pages do not work in IE, please help

• iPhone: Changing CGImageAlphaInfo of CGImage

  I have a PNG image that has an unsupported bitmap graphics context pixel format. Whenever I attempt to resize the image, CGBitmapContextCreate() chokes on the unsupported format (Error formatted for easy reading): CGBitmapContextCreate: unsupported parameter combination: 8 integer bits/component; 32 bits/pixel; 3-component colorspace; kCGImageAlphaLast; 1344 bytes/row. The list of supported pixel formats definitely does not support this combination. It appears I need to redraw the image and move the alpha channel information to kCGImageAlphaPremultipliedFirst or kCGImageAlphaPremultipliedLast. I have no idea how to go about doing this. There is nothing unusual about the PNG file and it isn't corrupted. It works in all other context just fine. I encountered this error just by chance but obviously my users might have similarly formatted files so I will have to check my app's imported images and correct for this problem.

  Hi, I am trying to figure out under what circumstances I should use weak (non-identifying) relationships (where the primary key of the related entity does not contain a primary key component of the parent entity), verses when I should use strong (identifying) relationships (primary key of the related entity contains a primary key component of the parent entity). For example, when designing an Entity Relationship Diagram , if I have two entities, (e.g. book and purchaser), how do I know when to choose the solid Crows Foot or the dashed Crows Foot to connect the two entities?   Now that ASP.NET MVC 2 is out, I tried to install it on my development machine, which already has Visual Studio 2010 RC installed and I got this error message during installation Component Microsoft ASP.NET MVC 2 has failed to install with the following error message: "A different version of ASP.NET MVC 2 is already installed on your system. Please uninstall this version before proceeding with this install." Sure enough, the MVC 2 release notes state: Note Because Visual Studio 2008 and Visual Studio 2010 RC share a component of ASP.NET MVC 2, installing the ASP.NET MVC 2 RTM release on a computer where Visual Studio 2010 RC is also installed is not supported. So my question is, though officially unsupported, if I uninstall VS 2010 RC, install MVC 2 then re-install VS 2010 RC, might this work? And would I then be able to target MVC 2 in VS2010?
