  • What is causing that nasty horizontal scrollbar?

    - by fmz
I am wrapping up a few touches on a site and notice that something is forcing the horizontal scrollbar to appear way beyond the container boundaries here. I have Firebugged it to death, but still can't figure out what the offending party is. I offer quick kudos to anyone that can tell me what is wrong here. Thanks!

  • opacity in ie using absolutely positioned divs not working

    - by camomileCase
    I've been banging my head against the wall for a few hours how trying to sort this out. I'm trying to position one div on top of another for the purpose of fading one in on top of the other. The divs will have an image and some other html in them. I cannot get opacity to work in ie8. I've simplified my html as much as possible: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> <html> <head> <style> * { margin: 0; padding: 0; } .carousel-container { position: relative; } .carousel-overlay { position: absolute; } #carousel-container-a { opacity: 1; -ms-filter: "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(Opacity=100)"; filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(Opacity=100); } #carousel-container-b { opacity: 0; -ms-filter: "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(Opacity=0)"; filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(Opacity=0); } h1 { font-size: 100px; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="carousel-container-a" class="carousel-container"> <div class="carousel-overlay" style="left: 10px; top: 10px;"> <h1 style="color: black;">Showcase</h1> </div> <!-- other elements removed for simplicity --> </div> <div id="carousel-container-b" class="carousel-container"> <div class="carousel-overlay" style="left: 20px; top: 20px;"> <h1 style="color: red;">Welcome</h1> </div> <!-- other elements removed for simplicity --> </div> </body> </html> Why doesn't the opacity work? How can I make it work?

  • Why is this <p> expanding the whole page?

    - by George Edison
If you visit this page and shrink your browser window, you will see my problem. [If you want to open the page in a new window, just hold down shift when you click the link.] The answers to the question extend beyond the page margin instead of wrapping. I have spent the last half hour working with Chrome's Inspector and Firefox's DOM inspector - all to no avail. I just cannot figure out why it's doing this.

  • Javascript height statement

    - by Sean
    This is not working and I can't figure out where I went wrong: <style> * { margin: 0px } div { height: 250px; width: 630px; overflow: hidden; vertical-align: top; position: relative; } iframe { position: absolute; left: -50px; top: -130px; } </style> <script> window.onload = function() { document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0].onkeyup = function(e) { var div = document.getElementById('capture'); if(e.keyCode == 70) { if(div.style.height == 250){ alert("Yes"); } else {alert("no");} } } }; </script>

  • Retreive value stored in array with jquery index

    - by Dustin
I am trying to retreive the stored value (div id) of an index stored in var "current" when it's div is clicked, so I can use it in a function to iterate through to the next index later. I want to store this stored value in a var so I can use it in a div show/hide function. my html is quite simple: <div class="gallerypreview" id="1"></div> <div class="gallerypreview" id="2"></div> <div class="gallerypreview" id="3"></div> my javascript is something like this: var images = new Array(); $(document).ready( function(){ $('.gallerypreview').each(function() { images.push($(this).attr("id")); }); $('.gallerypreview').click(function() { var current = $('.gallerypreview').index(this); }); }); how would I go about retrieving the div id from this clicked div? nothing I have tried has worked. I can get the index # fine, but I cannot find the value of the index using any functions that utilize the index # yet.

  • HTML link over text issue

    - by user50855
I need to add a link over the entirety of a div which contains some more divs. Looks like this: div.top { width: 150px; height: 150px; position: relative; } a.link { width: 150px; height: 150px; position: absolute; top: 0; } <div class="top"> <div class="text1">Text 1</div> <div class="text2">Text 2</div> <a class="link" href="http://something"></a> </div> So I put a link inside and made it the size of the top div. Everythign works fine in Firefox, Safari and Chrome. In IE and Opera, whenever I hover mouse cursor over that area but also over a text, the cursor is changing to selection cursor, not a hand (meaning no link). Whenever I move the cursor off the text, the link is available again. How can I make the link to "cover" the text completely? I tried adding z-index: div.top { z-index: 0; } a.link { z-index: 1; } doesn't help. Any ideas?

  • Making div fixed vertically but glued to the page's border horizontally

    - by George
Hi! Can you please go to: http://www.binarymark.com/Products/ColorPickerPro/default.aspx and note the page's layout. What I want to do is to stick or "glue" some small div to the right side of the page, that is so that it's just outside of the right frame of the page. However, vertically I want the div to be fixed to a Window, that is no matter how much the page is scrolled, it should remain a fixed 300px from the top edge of the window. Here's what it should look like http://www.binarymark.com/layexp.png Can you help me please? Seems easy, but I have no idea how to combine vertical fixed positioning and horizontal relative/absolute positioning and making sure it supports all major browsers. Thanks.

  • Question regarding Ajax Hacking

    - by Vincent
All, I have a PHP website written in Zend Framework and MVC. Most of the controller actions check if the request is an Ajax request or not, else they redirect the user to home page. I am thinking about various ways to break that site. I am considering the following scenario: A user creates his own PHP project on his Local machine. User writes a JQuery ajax post request to one of the controllers on my site and tries to post malicious info. Ex: $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: "https://marketsite/getinfo/getstuff", cache: false, dataType: "html", success: function(html_response){ alert(html_response); }, error: function(xhr, ajaxOptions, errorThrown){ alert(errorThrown); } }); My Question is does "url" attribute in the ajax request above take absolute path? I know it takes relative path. Also, is it possible to break any site by sending such requests? Thanks

  • Liftweb Menu customization

    - by DataSurfer
I want to create a menu that looks like: HOME | FOO | BAR | ABOUT | CONTACT How might I go about doing this? Here is what I have tried: <lift:Menu.builder ul:class="menu" li_item:class="current" /> and ul.menu li { display: inline; list-style-type: none; text-transform: uppercase; border-right: 1px solid white; padding-right: 5px; } li.current span { background: white; color: black; padding: 5px 5px 3px 5px; font-size: 11px; } li.current a, a:visited, a:link { color: white; padding: 5px 5px 3px 5px; font-size: 11px; } This gets close, but it doesn't look quite right. Also you end up with an extra line at the end. I want the lines to be the same height as the text. http://lh5.ggpht.com/_5DxlOp9F12k/S2aFQHfupzI/AAAAAAAAJiY/Ds0IpEyu78I/s800/menu.png

  • IE7 is messing up the z-index property with my subnav (although I've already fixed that!)

    - by JAG2007
OK, so I had this issue with my jQuery subnav in IE7 where it was scrolling down behind the main content after the header. Did a fair bit of research and found a great fix involving simply applying a z-index value to the header, and one to the main content. All was well. Or so I thought. Turns out IE7 is still messing up the subnav z-index within the header itself. The subnav still drops down behind the tagline, which is also part of the header. Particularly when you hit the subnav on the "Help Now" tab. (again, IE7 only) http://betawww.helpcurenow.org I've applied z-index values to both the subnav and the tagline, but that did not resolve the issue as did adding z-index values for the header and maincontent divs. Any tips? Did I specify my z-index improperly with the subnav? (should I have applied to the parent element?)

  • Php mail pulling form data from previous page

    - by Mark
    So I have a form being filled out on one php like so: <p> <label for="first_name">First Name: </label> <input type="text" size="30" name="first_name" id="first_name"/> </p> <p> <label for="last_name"> Last Name:</label> <input type="text" size="30" name="last_name" id="last_name"/> </p> <p> <label for="address_street">Street:</label> <input type="text" size="30" name="address_street" id="address_street"/> </p> <p> <label for="address_city">City:</label> <input type="text" size="30" name="address_city" id="address_city"/> </p> <p> <label for="address_state">State/Province:</label> <input type="text" size="30" name="address_state" id="address_state"/> </p> <p> <label for="email">Your e-mail: </label> <input type="text" size="30" name="email" id="email"/> </p> <p> <label for="phone">Your phone number: </label> <input type="text" size="30" name="phone" id="phone"/> </p> This is on one php page. From here, it goes to another php which part of it contains script to send a html email to recipient. Problem is, I cannot seem to get it to pull the variables even though I thought I declared them correctly and mixed them into the html correctly. <?php $first_name = $_POST['first_name']; $last_name = $_POST['last_name']; $to = "[email protected], [email protected]"; $subject = "HTML email for ALPS"; $message .= ' <html> <body> <div style="display: inline-block; width: 28%; float: left;"> <img src="http://englishintheusa.com/images/alps-logo.jpg" alt="ALPS Language School" /> </div> <div style="display: inline-block; width: 68%; float: right;"> <p style="color: #4F81BD; font-size: 20px; text-decoration: underline;">Thanks You For Your Inquiry!</p> </div> <div style="padding-left: 20px; color: #666666; font-size: 16.8px; clear: both;"> <p>Dear $first_name $last_name ,</p> </br > <p>Thank you for the following inquiry:</p> </br > </br > </br > </br > <p>****Comment goes here****</p> </br > </br > <p>We will contact you within 2 business days. Our office is open Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Pacific Standard Time.</p> </br > <p>Thank you for your interest!</p> </br > </br > <p>Best Regards,</p> </br > </br > <p>ALPS Language School</p> </br > </br > <p>430 Broadway East</p> <p>Seattle WA 98102</p> <p>Phone: 206.720.6363</p> <p>Fax: 206. 720.1806</p> <p>Email: [email protected]</p> </div> </body> </html>'; // Always set content-type when sending HTML email $headers .= "MIME-Version: 1.0" . "\r\n"; $headers .= "Content-type:text/html;charset=UTF-8" . "\r\n"; // More headers mail($to,$subject,$message,$headers); ?> So you see where I am trying to get first_name and last_name. Well it doesn't come out correctly. Can someone help here?

  • Print <div id=printarea></div> only?

    - by noesgard
How do I print the indicated div (without manually disabling all other content on the page)? I want to avoid a new preview dialog, so crating a new window with this content is not useful... The page contains a couple of tables, one of them contains the div I want to print - the table is styled with visual styles for the web, that should not be shown in print....

  • Selecting a div with same ID as the rel attribute of clicked link

    - by Chris
Hi there, This is a two-part question. I'm using jQuery for a project and wanting to click a link and toggle the class name "highlight" to that link and also to the div with the same id as the rel attribute of the link. I then want to be able to link to the next div without the classname of "highlight". Here's the HTML for it: <ul> <li><a href="#" rel="panel1">Item 1</a></li> <li><a href="#" rel="panel2">Item 2</a></li> <li><a href="#" rel="panel3">Item 3</a></li> </ul> <a href="">go to next div without class of highlight</a> <div id="panel1">some text</div> <div id="panel2">some text</div> <div id="panel3">some text</div> Can anyone help with jQuery side of things? Many thanks in advance!

  • Redirect URL from AJAX Calls

    - by Vincent
All, I have an application written in Zend MVC Framework. So, naturally all regular requests and ajax requests go through /public/index.php. I want my application to support maintenance mode. So, in my index.php file, I have the following code: if( Zend_Registry::get('config')->maintenance == 'true' ) { header('Location:/maintenance.php'); } The issue is, when ajax requests are called they render servermaintenance.php inside the page instead of redirecting to this page. How can I make sure it gets redirected instead of getting rendered? Thanks
