Does anyone know if Hibernate 3.5 is supported under Seam 2.x (specifically 2.2.x)? I'm very interested in some of the JPA 2 features, particularly query building, but work within the Seam framework. Is this version of the library supported? Thanks in advance!
I have seen that there are many books titled:
Build Ecommerce website in php
Build shopping carts in php or asp.net
Is there any book which explains, from scratch, how to start building a website in Java using any framework or with servlets or JSP?
Desired topics:
Basic forms with logins and registration
Building catalogue system
Building shopping cart
Building newsletters system
We're convincing our Products officer that we want to use JRuby on Rails, and we're having a hard time coming up with some statistics which show that:
Coding time is less using Rails vs. say Struts or Zend Framework or what have you.
Ruby (and JRuby in particular) performance isn't horrible (anymore).
Rails performance isn't bad either.
If you can get us some good stats quickly, we might have a chance!
Ive seen tutorials after tutorials but i still dont get how to connect a database to my xcode.. i already put it in my reference, put the sqlite framework but still it doesnt work.. i even tried copying the whole code the tutorial offers but still my iphone simulator turns up blank.. can you please help me understand why?
Hi,
I have a couple of questions regarding a modular GWT based application framework. I have some ideas about them but being new to the field of web development I feel they are far from ideal. I'd appreciate a few comments and suggestions in this regard. Here are my questions:
I am developing a framework which will allow third parties to embed GWT applications into our website and do some communication with them using simple iFrame postMessage. All these third party modules are going to use our SDK which is also GWT based. The problem arises that even though all the modules will be using the same codebase there is going to be a massive overheard in the amount of duplicate Javascript code (i.e. our common SDK code base which is quite large) being downloaded on the client's machine. This is highly redundant and problematic, not only due to the sheer size of duplicate code but, also due to the fact that subsequent updates of the SDK would require the modules to be recompiled which is going to create a DLL hell kind of scenario in the long run. What is the best way of doing this kind of thing? Is there a way where I can have some static GWT code (i.e. the SDK) and the dynamic GWT module refers to it (even if lies on a different domain) and it all work happily?
The other part of the problem lies in providing robust scripting front end to the SDK. At first it appears to be trivial since Javascript itself is a scripting language. However, I do not know how to load and call a piece of pure Javascript code at runtime? I am willing to put restrictions on the target Javascript (i.e. having a function main and unique namespace or something). Furthermore the Javascript will come as a string from a database and not as a full URL. If its doable in Javascript how does one get this right in GWT i.e. forcing the compiler to emit a certain function in the generated Javascript? This I believe can be lesser of a problem by having a stub Javascript with all the right requirements which just loads up a GWT generated Javascript. Is any of this possible at all?
I generally hate to be this verbose but I hope to find a quick solution to the problem as its holding up my progress. I'd highly appreciate any comments, suggestions and experiences.
We have a proprietary framework and now we want to integrate the authentication by client side ssl certificates.
What are the best practices to map a client certificate to a proprietary user account (for example a simple user table in the database)?
Save to public key of the certificate?
Save issuer and serialnumber?
Or are there other possibilities?
I have a jython servlet as part of a large application running in tomcat5. I tested a few Spring Framework classes and create the objects in the Jython servlet. When I try to create objects of classes in the application I catch an Exception message "No visible constructors for class". These java classes do have a public constructor class, such as:
public SchoolImpl() {
}
I create the object in python:
from com.dc.sports.entity import SchoolImpl
...
school = SchoolImpl()
What am I doing wrong?

I'm using Spring 2.5 and annotations to implement this management. Here is the class containing the saveNewReportCriteria method (which, as can be seen by the stack trace, is causing the error)
@Transactional(
propagation = Propagation.REQUIRED,
isolation = Isolation.DEFAULT,
readOnly = false)
public class HibernateReportCriteriaDao implements ReportCriteriaDao{
private HibernateTemplate hibernateTemplate;
public Integer saveNewReportCriteria(ReportCriteriaBean reportCriteria) {
hibernateTemplate.save(reportCriteria);
List<Integer> maxIdList = hibernateTemplate.find("SELECT max(id) from ReportCriteriaBean");
logger.info("ID of newly saved list is: " + maxIdList.get(0));
return maxIdList.get(0);
}
public void setHibernateTemplate(HibernateTemplate hibernateTemplate) {
this.hibernateTemplate = hibernateTemplate;
}
}
Then I added the following sections to my configuration files to tell spring that I am using annotation driven transaction management:
<bean id="actgDataSource" class="org.springframework.jndi.JndiObjectFactoryBean">
<property name="jndiName" value="jdbc/actg" />
<property name="resourceRef" value="true" />
</bean>
<bean id="transactionManager" class="org.springframework.jdbc.datasource.DataSourceTransactionManager">
<property name="dataSource" ref="actgDataSource" />
</bean>
<tx:annotation-driven/>
I'm pretty sure that the de-referencing error is being caused due to the proxy class that Spring AOP creates and uses in order to handle transaction management, but I have no idea how I'd go about fixing it.
Hi I've deveoped a windows setup applicaiton using c#. When I try to install it in one of my friend's system it is asking about windows installer is not installed and .net framework also not installed messages.
How can I install those two things before I install my application. I want to integrate those values into my setup application. How is it possible?
Thank you
I want to get the volume or even how much noise is coming through the mic. So someone is talking or some noise is going on in the background I want to know how much. Which framework would I use: Audio Toolbox, Audio Unit, AV Foundation, and Core Audio
Can anyone comment on which is more scalable between RoR and PHP? I have heard that RoR is less scalable than PHP since RoR has a little more overhead with its MVC framework while PHP is more low level and lighter. This is a bit vague - can anyone explain better?
Hai,
I am using Visual Studio 2008 and Framework 3.5. I wrote a WebService and I added that WebService in my page through ScriptManager Service Path. I wrote a method in the webservice, that returns List<.... I captured that value from JavaScript function. Now I want to bind that List<... value to with my Asp:GridView using JavaScript. Help me .....
A silly question, perhaps, but at this time of night, StackOverFlow is my only friend.
I'm playing with NHibernate and wanted to factualize these 2 statements regarding Sessions in web applications.
1) You should only ever have 1 ISessionFactory per database for the lifecycle of an application.
2) You should only have 1 ISession per HttpRequest or batch of HttpRequests (i.e. conversation)
[I don't want tool or framework recommendation, just want to confirm the above]
Seems a great C++ unit testing framework. I'm just wanting something a bit more sophisticated than the console output for running the test, also something that makes it really easy to run specific tests (since gtest supports all kinds of test filtering)
If there is nothing, I'll probably roll my own
I've been using CodeIgniter for some quite time, and I've been extremely happy with its Active Record stuff. It's great to query the database with it.
Recently I've started a new project and I can't use such a framework anymore.
Is there a simple PHP Active Record library that does its job and gets out of the way (similar to CodeIgniter's version)?
Is it possible to develop a web-part in ASP.NET (framework 2.0), to have a sandbox architecture, and deploy those web parts inside Share Point 2010 and/or MOSS 2007

Hi Anish Jhaveri,
I want to write a we based application with C# .Net and i need some framework to work with smart card in client-side.
please help me.
Hello people, this would be my first question after signing up!
Anyway heres my question, I did Java at university and I was always told I am a good programmer. However I never pursued it as a career - I went into support and management instead. Im pretty much bored with my job, I have therefore started to learn Objective C so that I can develop apps for the iphone. I am currently watching several different Videos / Books.
My problem is that when I go through the Apple documentation, although I understand most of it, sometimes I stumble. I believe that because you/we have the Apple documentation (i.e. Framework references) , everything should be clear, and therefore you should have no need to refer to a book or video (in order to learn how to use a particular class). But I alway do refer to a book and video and subsequently feel guilty as I believe the framework reference should be enough. (I therefore feel I am not up to being a programmer)
I also believe that you shouldn't need example code in order to learn how to use a particular class because Apple provides documentation for each class, but AGAIN I find my self googling example code and I find my answer like that - again I feel guilty for doing this.
Am I right in saying that Apple documentation is simply not clear? and that its ok to refer to a video/book or google? or forums for that matter?
I have proffesional programmers who tell me that I am worrying too much and that I should get on with it and use all the resources that I have. I just cant seem to get round this mental block that I have in my head.
When I start a programming project I am able to use the excellent search skills that I have to find the code I need, copy and paste it (yes I do understand it) BUT then I feel guilty telling myself that why didn't you think up the code yourself???? Therefore your not a real programmer, your just good at googling.
Currently I am going through 20+ books so that I can learn most of the frameworks, syntax etc to develop iphone apps. I believe if I do this, then when I think of a project I can make it quickly. Should I read a few books, like 2-3 and then just start a project /app , and if I get stuck just google it and get the code I need?
Can anybody please answer my questions?
I have a web app that is using the 3.5 framework. I wanted to know how can I detect what webhost is rendering the page.
If the server is localhost, then send email notification to [email protected]
If the server is QA, then send email to [email protected]
Thanks
Hi,
I need to write a program to scrape forums.
Should I write the program in Python using the Scrapy framework or should I use Php cURL?
Also is there a Php equivalent to Scrapy?
Thanks
Hi I mostly do C++, Objective-C programming. And I found Xcode plus an auto completion/macro plugin (Completion Dictionary) quite adequate.
However, all people seem to praise over their pure text editors. I tried Textmate for a bit; liked its simplicity but dislike its files/framework handling.
Am I missing something here? Or, do Vim or Emacs have auto-completion as good as Xcode?
I want to read the binary contents of a .lnk file.
As long as the target of the shortcut (lnk file) exists this works fine with IO.File.ReadAllBytes(string file).
BUT
If the target of the shortcut does not exist (believe me I want this) the method only returns zero's. I guess this is because the OS follows the link and if it does not exist it returns zero's
Is there some way to bypass the fact that the framework follows the target of the .lnk before displaying the contents of the .lnk file?
I know recently Spring 3.0 was released which brought about a nice new set of features and ease of web development with their MVC package. However are there any new frameworks on the horizon and/or new versions of other frameworks that a web developer should have their eyes on?
I heard about the Stripes framework, but it seems as though development has stopped. It also seems grails has a new release coming out as well which that looks like it is just an update to support the new features in the latest groovy release.
Is there any framework or tool to generate web services (WCF) access to all the non transactional tables in my database? something like asp.net dynamic data but with web services, I need to do this for homologation with other systems.
