  • how to get the individual parameters from the list of dynamic parameters in a webmethod, sent using

    - by kranthi
hi, I am using jquery ajax method on my aspx page, which will invoke the webmethod in the code behind.Currently the webmethod takes a couple of parameters like firstname, lastname, address etc which I am passing from jquery ajax method using data:JSON.stringify({fname:firstname, lname:lastname, city:city}) now my requirement has been changed such that, the number and type of parameters that are going to be passed is not fixed for ex.parameter combination can be something like fname, city or fname, city or city, lname or fname, lname, city or something else.So the webmethod should be such that it should accept any number parameters.I thought of using arrays to do so, as described here. But I do not understand how can I identify which and how many parameters have been passed to the webmethod to insert/update the data to the DB.Please could someone help me with this? thanks

  • Event Handlers and Automatic Postback in ASP.NET 3.5 Web Controls

In one of last week s tutorials Creating Database-Driven ASP.NET 3.5 Input and List Web Controls you learned how to create a dynamic input web control that instead of setting values statically stored its list and values directly from the MS SQL server 2 8 database. This tutorial is a sequel to that article. It deals mostly with the server side coding aspect of dynamic web controls. It is recommended that you read the earlier tutorial first as the Visual Web Developer Project in that tutorial will be used extensively in this article.... • C++ Interpreter: How to emit error messages?

    - by Rawr
I want to emit dynamic error messages like all interpreters do nowadays, for example: Name error: Undefined variable would be constant, however what I want to reach is: Name error: Undefined variable 'X', in line 1 Okay. The line number was really no problem: Every error message must have a line number, so I added it to the error emitter function: Error( ErrType type, string msg, int line ); So where is my problem? How do I get the 'X' into Undefined variable *? I can't use sprintf as it doesn't support strings yet I use them everywhere I can't simply use cout and connect everything as I want error messages to be supressable I'd like to get everything into one function like above, Error() How do I put together dynamic error messages? For example: Error( Name, sprintf("Undefined variable %s", myVariableName ), lineNum ); (But myVariableName is a string and sprintf will mess things up)

  • Why MySQL multiple-column index is overpopulated?

    - by actual
Consider following MySQL table: CREATE TABLE `log` ( `what` enum('add', 'edit', 'remove') CHARACTER SET ascii COLLATE ascii_bin NOT NULL, `with` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL, KEY `with_what` (`with`,`what`) ) ENGINE=InnoDB; INSERT INTO `log` (`what`, `with`) VALUES ('add', 1), ('edit', 1), ('add', 2), ('remove', 2); As I understand, with_what index must have 2 unique entries on its first with level and 3 unique entries in what "subindex". But MySQL reports 4 unique entries for each level. In other words, number of unique elements for each level is always equal to number of rows in log table. Is that a bug, a feature or my misunderstanding?

  • iPhone App : Storing / Saving personal preferences once per App

    - by sg
Hi, I want to store / save personal preference settings like Email, Phone number for an App. I have few forms which send info by Email to my ID. I want to know the Email & Phone number of user so I can contact this person if need be. I don't want users to keep entering their Email ID & Phone No. everytime in each form. It's wise to take these inputs (Email & Phone) just once per device / per App installed on the device. I am trying to use .plist for this purpose. I have no success. How do I do it? Any example code (or) links? Thanks. I would appreciate any help.

  • SQL - suppressing duplicate *adjacent* records

    - by Trevel
I need to run a Select statement (DB2 SQL) that does not pull adjacent row duplicates based on a certain field. In specific, I am trying to find out when data changes, which is made difficult because it might change back to its original value. That is to say, I have a table that vaguely resembles: A, 5, Jan A, 12, Feb A, 12, Mar A, 12, Apr A, 9, May A, 9, Jun A, 5, Jul And I want to get the results: A, 5, Jan A, 12, Feb A, 9, May A, 5, Jul discarding adjacent duplicates but keeping the last row. The obvious: Select Letter, Number, Min(Month) from Table group by Letter, Number does not work -- it doesn't include the last row.

  • How do I remove specific numbers from a string?

    - by user1666900
I have this string in PHP Hopelessly Incredible |SPG:M| 766 STEAM_0:1:20130600 " banned "A Blatantly Obvious Hacker 740 STEAM_0:1:55386073 " (minutes "0") (reason "Multi-Hack") The Format of the string is: Name1 Number(0-3 digits) Steam_0:x:xxxx offense (banned/kicked/mute etc) Name2 Number(0-3 digits) Steam_0:x:xxxx time reason My goal is to remove the values 766 and 740 because it is just garbage. Those values can have single, double, and triple digits. The next step would be to strip STEAM_0:1:20130600 and STEAM_0:1:55386073 out of the string and capture it in a new variable. The only constant is STEAM_0: the rest can change. I am still learning regex but I fear this is a bit complicated for me to do. Some guidance would be most appreciative.

  • Master Data Management - The Trend Towards Multi-Domain and Other Realities

    - by Mala Narasimharajan
In my quest to keep my fingers on the pulse of MDM, I recently found a pretty interesting article.  The article was published in Information Week and provides some interesting statistics from a recent survey conducted by the analyst firm, The Information Difference.  Let's take a look: Of the 130 organizations surveyed, 53% have live operational MDM implementations 81% of those with live operational MDM implementations report broad success - a huge improvement over 2011's 54% 64% developed a business case prior to their MDM deployment, while a daring 32% went ahead without a business case.    The article goes on to talk about the shift in vendors from focusing on customer data and product information management to one that is oriented around multi-domain master data management as well as other realities around MDM.  Take a look at the article. • Force Decimal Regex

    - by babyangel86
Hi, I'm looking for a regex or a way to format the NumberValidator so that only decimal places are allowed. The domain="real" allows you to put integer values, but I need to force the user to but in 2.0 if they want an integer. This is because they pass through a Castor mapping file, it complains if it gets an integer when it expects a decimal. I dont want to restrict the number of decimal places, just insist that there must be a point, and a number after it. Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Trouble with arraylist and stack

    - by helloman
    I am having trouble starting out this program, I am suppose to write a program that will create an ArrayList, asking the user for 10 numbers. Then this will be put into the Array. Then after the list is made navigate it and if a number is even remove it from the ArrayList and copy it to a stack of integers. import java.io.* ; import java.util.*; public class Test { public static void main(String[] args){ Scanner input = new Scanner (System.in); ArrayList<Integer> integers = new ArrayList<Integer>(); System.out.print ("Enter Number: \n"); for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++){ integers.add(input.nextInt()); } for (int i = 0; i < 10 ; i++){ if (i %2==0) } } }

  • technique for how to debug macros in C

    - by Dervin Thunk
Hi. So I have the (mostly vilified) #define MAX( a, b ) ( ((a) > (b)) ? (a) : (b) ) somewhere in a program (yes, yes, I know). At some point in the code there is a comparison X>-1?, where X is (as far as I can tell) a (signed) integer. The line is j += MAX(bmGs[i], bmBc[(int)y[i + j]] - m + 1 + i);, where y here is a char*. Not necessarily surprisingly, I find that the macro is returning -1 as the larger number (I'm guessing too long a number for int or an unsigned issue, but I can't find it). I would like to know techniques you guys may have for finding these kinds of errors. Notice that I'm not asking for programming advice about whether or not to use that macro, I'm sure folks are dying to tell me I should refrain from things like that, but the question is going somewhere else. Thanks.

  • Command Query Separation validating for retries

    - by Neil Barnwell
So I'm comfortable with the basic concept of CQS, where you might have a command that writes to one database, and that updates the query database that you read from. However, consider the scenario where you are entering data, and want to prevent duplicates. Using new employee data entry an employee register as an example, working through a pile of application forms to key in the new employees' details: Take top sheet. Key in employee name and unique payroll number to UI. Submit. Put paper in "completed pile". Repeat. How would you now prevent the user from keying in the same payroll number again, say for instance if they get distracted and can't remember whether they've keyed one in already and the "message" hasn't got all the way back to the query db for the user to search?

  • C# gridview nested in repeater update

    - by Padawan
My current situation is to display an unknown number of Plantypes and within those Plantypes display a list of Participants(also unknown number), the participants have a textbox and a dropdown that is editable (you can't edit the individual rows, there is one update that does a bit of validation then updates all rows.) I currently have a gridview nested withing a repeater, the repeater displays the Plan in a label and OnItemDataBound I call a method to populate the gridviews. It looks great, but I can't figure out how to save all the data at once. I'm not opposed to handling this a different way, as in loose the gridview and or repeater, if someone has a better idea. This is C# and framework 2.0...there is no sorting or paging on the gridviews...just some links and the fields to update. thanks in advance, Padawan

  • Best way to handle MySQL date for performance with thousands of users

    - by bitLost
I am currently part of a team designing a site that will potentially have thousands of users who will be doing a number of date related searches. During the design phase we have been trying to determine which makes more sense for performance optimization. Should we store the datetime field as a mysql datetime. Or should be break it up into a number of fields (year, month, day, hour, minute, ...) The question is with a large data set and a potentially large set of users, would we gain performance wise breaking the datetime into multiple fields and saving on relying on mysql date functions? Or is mysql already optimized for this?

  • New to MVC. Actionscript 3.0 Appreciate your help.

    - by Combustion007
Hello Everyone, I am new to design patterns and am trying to learn the MVC implementation. I have written four classes: DataModel DataView DataController Main Main serves as the application facade. The main FLA is called HelloWorld. I have a symbol called "Box" in HelloWorld. I just would like to add an instance of the "Box" on the stage. Eventually I would like to place a button and when the button is clicked, the Box instance color will be changed. I would appreciate any help, please help me figure out what am I doing wrong. Here are my Classes: DATAMODEL CLASS: package { import flash.events.*; public class DataModel extends EventDispatcher { public static const UPDATE:String = "modelUpdate"; private var _color:Number = (Math.round(Math.random()* 0xffffff)); public function DataModel() { trace("DATA MODEL INIT"); } public function get color():Number { return _color; } public function set color(p:Number):void { _color = p; notifyObserver(); } public function notifyObserver():void { dispatchEvent(new Event(DataModel.UPDATE)); } } } //DATACONTROLLER CLASS: package { import flash.events.; import flash.display.; import flash.errors.*; public class DataController { private var _model:DataModel; public function DataController(m:DataModel) { trace("DATACONTROLLER INIT"); _model = m; } } } DATAVIEW CLASS: package { import flash.events.; import flash.display.; import flash.errors.*; public class DataView extends Sprite { private var _model:DataModel; private var _controller:DataController; private var b:Box; public function DataView(m:DataModel, c:DataController) { _model = m; _controller = c; b = new Box(); b.x = b.y = 100; addChild(b); } } } And Finally THE FACADE: package { import flash.display.; import flash.events.; import flash.text.; import flash.errors.; public class Main extends Sprite { private var _model:DataModel; private var _controller:DataController; private var _view:DataView; public function Main(m:DataModel, c:DataController, v:DataView) { _model = m; _controller = c; _view = v; addChild(v); } } } When I test the movie: I get this error: ArgumentError: Error #1063: Argument count mismatch on Main(). Expected 3, got 0. Thanks alot.

  • Website with over 1 million posts with not much textual content

    - by Far Se
I've made a website which crawls files from all over the Internet and I feel like Google will ban me if I sent it sitemaps which contain all of these pages (1m+), because they contain only the file name/size/no of downloads and the download link(s). I'm considering this thought because I've made another website like this in the past and Google banned me after one week with the reason: "spam", even it was not (maybe somebody falsely reported me?!). Does someone have an idea about how to keep Google form banning my website? I've seen several other sites like mine and they don't get banned or... anything. And also, should I sent the sitemap or wait until Google indexes every page as it finds them? Thanks in advance :)

  • jQuery wildcard selection

    - by Yuval A
Suppose you have some <div>s: <div id="div_num1"></div> <div id="div_num2"></div> <div id="div_num3"></div> You can select all those divs by choosing $("div[id^='div_num']"). How can you buld a function that references the number succeeding the prefix? For example, a function which will alert the number 3 for "div_num3". More generally, how can you use full-blown regex in jQuery selectors?

  • how to avoid workaholic tag

    - by Shirish11
As we all know a programmer just needs a computer and a network connection. When these things are available at your disposal you can program anywhere in the world. Now this is causing me a bit of problems. Since its not necessary to work at your workplace only you are asked anytime of your vacation or week-off to help out the client on reported bug. Also if you do enjoy doing it at your pass time, any one seeing you stare at the computer may treat you workaholic which I don't enjoy. How do you make them realize that its not just about the work.It can be a hobby also. In my understanding a workaholic is a person who works to earn but an enthusiast is the one who works to learn.

  • Ubuntu frozen on boot screen; boot repair fails due to X11 and gtk

    - by anandsun
I have a year-old HP Pavilion dv6 with Intel i7 processors and graphics card. I had Windows 7 but last week I dual booted Ubuntu. It was working fine until today. I did the following things: Updated Gnome and installed Gnome tweak tool Uninstalled Chromium browser Uninstalled Google Chrome Moved jdk and jre folders from ~/ to /bin using sudo Moved Adobe folder from ~/ to /bin using sudo Then I restarted. Ubuntu froze for half an hour on the purple boot screen. Something I did must have broken it. So, I hit Ctrl + Alt + F1 and managed to log in through the command line. From there, I ran sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get upgrade. I also updated grub. I also installed boot-repair. However, I cannot run boot-repair, because I keep getting the following errors: Autolaunch error: X11 initialization failed RuntimeError: Gtk couldn't be initialized.

  • Hierarchy of modules in guice

    - by Niko
Hi, I'd like to run a unit test where a constant is slightly different than in the standard version. That is, in my default module, the following is bindConstant().annotatedWith(Names.named("number of players")).to(4); but in testing, I'd like to try this line instead: bindConstant().annotatedWith(Names.named("number of players")).to(2); Id like to achieve that without copying all of the rest of the module. What I really want is a "default" module that is "below" a more specialized module, such that in case of conflict, the specialized module wins (instead of throwing an exception, which is what guice does). In essence, my question is: how does anybody arrange for more than one module without lots of code duplication?

  • C#: split a string into runs of characters, numbers and delimited strings and process it

    - by nrkn
OK my regex is a bit rusty and I've been struggling with this particular problem... I need to split and process a string containing any number of the following, in any order: Chars (lowercase letters only) Quote delimited strings Ints The strings are pretty weird (I don't have control over them). When there's more than one number in a row in the string they're seperated by a comma. They need to be processed in the same order that they appeared in the original string. For example, a string might look like: abc20a"Hi""OK"100,20b With this particular string the resulting call stack would look a bit like: ProcessLetters( new[] { 'a', 'b', 'c' } ); ProcessInts( 20 ); ProcessLetters( 'a' ); ProcessStrings( new[] { "Hi", "OK" } ); ProcessInts( new[] { 100, 20 } ); ProcessLetters( 'b' ); What I could do is treat it a bit like CSV, where you build tokens by processing the characters one at a time, but I think it could be more easily done with a regex?
