• Adding db file to visual web developer

  Hi, I'm beginner in visual web developer. I want to add a ready database to my project, to do that I simply add the db file to App_data folder. However, I can't see any table or database diagram etc. Am I missing a big part to add external source ? Any help? I'd appreciate it

• #validate does not seem to work correctly with :on => :create/:update

  Greetings, I have a custom validation in my exemplary Movie model: class Movie < ActiveRecord::Base validate :it, :on => :create private def it self.errors.add 'foo', 'bar' end end This works on movie creation but also on updating an existing movie. :on => :update will also work for both.   I'm having some trouble unit testing the model returned by DefaultModelBinder. I want to feed in a fake form collection and check the model that it returns to make sure model properties are being bound properly. In my research, I'm not turning up -any- resources on testing the DefaultModelBinder. Maybe I'm missing something. Maybe I shouldn't be testing this part of MVC? Your thoughts?

  Is it possible to have a project hosted on Github and google code? I've been using Google Code for years, and recently started playing with GitHub. I like GitHub a lot, but there's also a long list of Google Code features I really miss. Is it possible/feasible to host a single project on both? Can I use github as the primary repository for my source, but have all revisions automatically sent over to a git repository on Google Code?

• NSString copy not copying?

  NSString *myString = @"sample string"; NSString *newString = [NSString stringWithString: myString]; If I set a breakpoint after these two lines, the pointer for myString is the same as the pointer for newString. WTF? Isn't NSString copy supposed to return a pointer to a new object? Or am I missing something fundamental about how copy is supposed to work?

  Hello, I am trying to use CFNetwork in my app so I tried adding CFNetwork.framework from the Edit Target dialog in XCode. • Modifying documents in memory in yaml-cpp

  I want to read a YML document, filter it by modifying some nodes in memory, and then spit it back out with an emitter. The problem is that YAML::Node appears to be designed to be read-only. Is there a way to replace a node's value (with a scalar in this case) that I'm missing?

• Why must named functions be in a separate file in hugs?

  In Haskell in 5 steps the factorial function is defined as follows: let fac n = if n == 0 then 1 else n * fac (n-1) But for hugs, it says that fac needs to be in fac.h. Can anyone explain why this is the case - missing the ability to define recursion seems like a massive limitation for an interpreter?

  Here is an old add in to quickly comment out HTML code. Maybe I am missing it, but it seems like there is a shortcut in VS2010 to scratch your tail with one click but commenting out HTML code is still awkward as hell. • FastMM log to file without FullDebugMode

  I'd like to get FastMM memory leak report that shows up on app shutdown, but in a file instead of the dialog box. The idea is to use it in a release build as I have trouble reproducing the leaks. I would however prefer to not use the FullDebugMode which seems to be required for logging to a file. Am I missing anything or is this not supported ?

• Help w/ Sluggish "rake cucumber"

  I've been trying to debug some super slow performance in running my cucumber features. I've run various calls through ruby-prof and think I see the bottlenecks (not too familiar with using ruby-prof) but do not know the cause or more important the solution.   Hey, I want to make an little window like the sort of thing used by Teamspeak/Ventrillo or Steam/xFire where a window can be shown while still in a fullscreen game using Java. There was a similar question/answer ("How to create an overlay window in Java?") but that doesn't work for the particular game (EVE) whereas the previously mentioned overlays work just fine.   I'm trying to edit an XML schema in Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate RC, but when I go to the toolbox (with the schema open and focused) there's absolutely nothing in the Toolbox view, even when every tutorial out there that I've read tells me that there should be. I've tried using the context menu option for resetting the Toolbox to no effect. Is there something I'm missing ? Something I need to install to get this feature of Visual Studio going ?

• Eclipse Juno: Can't find fast view panel

  Version: Eclipse 4.2 Codename: Juno I don't see a fast view bar in eclipse 4.2. I can't rightclick on a view and enable fast view. The fast view options under General - Perspectives does nothing. Was the fast view feature removed or am I missing something? I've looked up at http://help.eclipse.org/juno/index.jsp?topic=%2Forg.eclipse.platform.doc.user%2Ftasks%2Ftasks-9b.htm , but that didn't helped either.
