I can not find a valid kerbtray.exe for windows server 2008. I can only find for 2000 and 2003. Does it not exist or it is just replaced with something else?
I have a number of scheduled tasks which simply open a web page in Windows Server 2008 R2. They used to run and end without abending, but now they open and stay open and I have to setup the task to quit them by force before their next scheduled run. I've thought about installing CURL or WGET, but is there a way to do this with R2 without going to that step?
Regards.
I got WMP 12 (on Windows 7 RC1) to play FLAC files by installing the Ogg Vorbis/FLAC, Direct Show filters, but WMP does not display the embedded cover artwork.
After experimenting I found that it will display the cover art if it is embedded in PNG format, but up to now I've used JPEG for all my FLAC files.
Rather than re-tagging all my files, does anyone know a way to get WMP 12 to display JPEG embedded cover art?
Does anyone know of a good Windows Mobile application that follows the Getting Things Done method?
Since I'm on a family plan without data access, and since I'm stuck with the beyond awful Mobile IE, webapps aren't an acceptable solution.
For further reference the phone is a Motorola Q9M, a slightly upgraded version of the Motorola Q.
I am having problem with a user account on a Windows 7 machine (local install, admin user account)
APPDATA and LOCALAPPDATA environment are not set. Another user on the same machine, (also a local account, but without admin rights) has the variables set. This started to happen recently, however, I can not figure out if there was something installed on the machine to cause this. This is creating issues with applications that are trying to expand the variables to store local files.
Thank you for the help.
When using the task manager in Windows XP Pro, the amount of RAM that is listed as being used by the individual processes is not adding up to the total memory used (as listed by the total commit on the performance page).
The total sum of all the RAM being used the the processes:
195604 K
The amount in use as listed by performance page and the status bar:
280028 K
1) Why is this?
2) How do I reduce the amount of memory used?
Does anyone know how to remove/uninstall Oracle Developer Suite 10g from Windows XP (SP3) ? It's not appearing in the "Add or Remove Programs" list and it doesn't have a built-in uninstaller. I've googled around for how to do this, and basically, everyone says to run the Oracle Universal Installer shipped with every Oracle product. I've tried to run it from the Oracle Developer Suite 10g installation kit, but it crashes. Anyone got any ideas?
I plan to install Windows Vista on my second hard drive partition, with Ubuntu Hardy remaining on the first partition. How likely is it that any security holes that may exist in Vista could allow malicious code to find its way to the Ubuntu partition or otherwise damage the system?
Can anyone recommend a good eSATA PCIe card for Windows Server 2008 (x64)? I bought a J-Micron JMB363 and it's recognized by the OS and I can install one of their reference drivers, but it's not picking up the drive I have attached to it.
Basically, I want to be able to transfer exported Hyper-V machines quickly to an external drive, and it seems that using one of these eSATA cards is the way to go.
I have a keyboard with some types of extra keys, such as multimedia (play, pause, stop ,..), turn off, and etc.
some times it's annoying with a "exit button" just right beside arrows that accidentally presses, and programs gonna close, and some other similar problems.
I'm wondering is there any solution to disable, or change the functionality of these types of keyboard keys in Windows (win7)?
Cheers
Hi All
I recently bought a new computer and Windows 7 Home Premium. I only have one small problem though. I have the option "Show Window Contents While Dragging" enabled, but everytime I restart the computer, it reverts back to DISabled.
The only thing i could think of is the system requirements etc. But this is not the case as my computer more than meets the full requirements.
Can somebody help me please?
Thank you
If I run an executable file downloaded from the Internet, Windows displays a warning that this file can potentially harm my computer. This happens even for files downloaded by Firefox (not just IE.) On networked drive, this seems to slow down program launch time a lot.
From Wikipedia, I learned that the feature is called "Attachment Execution Service". How can I completely disable it? If this cannot be done, how can I instruct Firefox not to set the "downloaded" flag on the file?
For some time now when I click Open with...|Choose Default Program from Windows Explorer's context menu I'm getting this error
This file does not have a program
associated with it to perform this
action. Create an association in the
Set Associations control panel.
I'm getting this error no matter what the extension of the selected file is.
Any ideas how to fix this?
I've done an install of Windows 7 Ultimate on my laptop when I meant to install Pro - i.e. I've already used the Ultimate license on another box and want the laptop to run Pro for which I've got keys spare.
Is there a way to change the SKU of the installed version to downgrade it so that I can use my Pro key. I've got a fair bit of stuff on it and would like to avoid re-installing the OS if I can.
Übergizmo is reporting an issue with the new Macbook Pros' GeForce 330M GPU being always "on" under Windows 7, and thus almost halving the battery life compared to that with OS X (which is able to somehow suspend that GPU and use the the low-end integrated GPU to do the light work).
Any solutions, or rumors of coming solutions?
I am trying to get IIS 6 to serve up PHP pages.
I have followed: http://www.iisadmin.co.uk/?p=4&page=3
But now with PHP 3.2 I dont see PHPisapi.dll anyplace so it doesn't work.
Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong? I downloaded the .zip for 5.3 Windows non-thread safe and manually put in at c:\PHP.
I am stumped.
I'm maintaining around 10 PC's with Windows XP as their Operating System. Currently we're using antivirus within each PC. Now I want to upgrade our antivirus. I'm searching antivirus with these criteria
Network based
Beside virus, can handle worm, and trojan
If possible also built in firewall
So which antivirus match with my criteria?
Thanks
Why did my old windows 7 install boot faster/run smoother & cooler than each the three linux distros I have recently tried (ubuntu 12.04 unity, linux mint 13 MATE, and fedora 17 on gnome 3.4)?. I have tweaked my linux installs for the ssd (enabling trim, disabling swap, etc.)
I'm using an Acer TravelMate with i5-2410m processor, intel hd 3000 graphics, 8 gigs of ram, and a 256 gb samsung 830 ssd.
Thanks!
I installed Windows 7 on a separate drive, and everything works fine, but I can't get the above network adapter to work properly. It's displayed in Device Manager as a USB device, and I have the driver that makes it function in Vista, but when I run the Driver Wizard and direct it to directory where I have the Vista driver, it almost immediately says "Can't install driver."
Is there any work around to this?
I have a Dell Inspiron 1440 laptop and it has no virtualization support, i want to install Windows Server 2008 on it using Virtual Box, i know that we can install Mac OS on not Virtualization supported system using some patch.
I also haired that Virtual box don't needs hardware virtualization, it will do that using software virtualization. how can i achieve that, any guidance would be very nice.
Thanks
Windows 7 64-bit version installs 32-bit programs to Program Files (x86) folder, and 64-bit programs to Program Files folder. Of course, Microsoft must have a reason for doing that, but as a user I don't find it handy to have 2 separate program folders. Is there any way to merge those folders into one (preferably, Program Files) without corrupting installed programs?
And would it be a problem to install 32-bit applications into Program Files folder?
I want to create a video of old photos and I would like to use the Ken Burns effect for more pleasant transitions. I don't think I require inserting any existing video clips into this -- I just want to create a video from my images. It would be nice to be able to add titles and captions, too.
Which Windows-based software can help me with this?
Hey
My company has a Windows 2000 Terminal Server.
Every time 3 or more users connect to the server and run up some applications the server disconnects one of the users already connected to it?
The server is licensed for 10 users?
Any ideas?
