  • is it possible to make one click fires two events or more by javascript?

    I am currently making a temporary download page for website visitor. The page includes a form, after the visitor fills the form up, the site will take them to the pdf download page. In the download page, there are some pdf files download links (I am just using a tag.). However, i wanna make a onclick event to those links, once they have been clicked, the page will refresh automatically or redirect to other pages. <a href="/file.pdf" onClick="window.location.reload()">The File</a> I have tried the jquery way as well. <a href="/file.pdf" id="FileDownload">The File</a> <script> $("#FileDownload").click(function(){ location.reload(); }); </script> But all the them are not working. Do you masters have any good ideas about this, many thanks. P.S. What if I wanna add a countdown after a file is being started download, and then do page reload when countdown finishes. Looks like have asked several questions... Thanks a ton in advance.

  • IE div width + scrollbar

    I have a modal UI in my web app that necessitates a fixed layout design. After much fussing, I decided absolutely positioned child elements was the way to go. However, I have one div that conditionally requires a vertical scrollbar (if there's too much content). When this scrollbar is added, the width of the div seems to vary between IE 7 and IE 8. IE8 standards mode: IE7 standards mode: I haven't even tested for IE 6, but I'm sure it's even funkier. What's the simplest, least painful way to address this to arrive at a consistent UI in all major browsers?

I am trying to create a drop down menu, something I have now is like: <select> <option value="volvo">Volvo</option> <option value="saab">Saab</option> <option value="opel">Opel</option> <option value="audi">Audi</option> </select> but this is not exactly what I want. I want to create a drop down list very similar to the one on Amazon.com (the dropdown list beside "Search"), shown in following pic. so whenever user click on the button, the list will be displayed in the button as text.   • How to add an item to the top of a dynamic list

    Like the title states, does anyone out there have a clear way to implement this type of functionality? Example: If you go to http://weewar.com, in their front page you noticed an ajax module that updates every second. However, all of the new items are added to the top of the list. My question is around that very same functionality. Does anyone have an easy and clear idea as to how one would implement this functionality? So far I have a method that initially creates the list, then another method is called in an interval that pulls the most recent data from the server.. However, I'm stuck with, how can I add the new dynamic node to the top of the list. If you can guide me to where I can find this information or give me an idea as to how I can implement this I will be very happy and grateful :) Thanks in advanced.

  • Checkbox not checking inside div in Firefox

    Weird problem. I don't know if anyone can shed some light on this? I have a checkbox inside a div. It works fine in IE but not Firefox. I have to click the space around the checkbox that is occupied by the div (sort of like a label) for the checkbox to tick on and off. Directly clicking the checkbox does not show it as ticked on or off, even though in firebug it is showing that it is in a checked state and an unchecked state. Only in FF does this happen.....

  • Dynamic added elements double effect after page transition

    I have added dynamic from jQuery in my code, but when I go back one page and return to the page where the 's are added and you press them, they somehow click twice now. I have tried with an alert('something'); when I click: $(document).on('click', '#products a', function() { alert('something'); } And it's shown twice when you return to the page. I have tried $('#products a').remove(); When you click the 'Back' button, because I thought all elements where added twice, but that made no difference. I don't have anything around these lines, maybe I need $(document).ready(); or something with pageinit?

  • allowing bb code but not java script

    Hello im trying to get the hang of using bb codes onto my normal php site ( not forum or anything just a normal site ) I have seen a few posts like this one http://www.pixel2life.com/forums/index.php?/topic/10659-php-bbcode-parser/ which says i need a bb parser. I was just wondering can anyone show me how i would use one ? I have a status box were users can update there status but i would like to allow bb codes but not java script. So when im doing my inserting into the db i strip the status like so.. $status= mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['status']); $status2= strip_tags($status); And that stops the java script and tags from getting though but i need the bb code tags to come though but carry on blocking the java script code is there anyway to do this ? Also then i just echo it out echo $status2 ; But just plain text shows so was just wondering if anyone knows how to let though bb code and stop java script and could some one show me how to use the bb parasher ? also need to know how to echo out the bb coding...

    I am setting the innerHTML variable of a div with contents from an ajax request: new Ajax.Request('/search/ajax/allakas/?ext_id='+extid, { method:'get', onSuccess: function(transport){ var response = transport.responseText || "no response text"; $('admincovers_content').innerHTML=response; }, onFailure: function(){ alert('Something went wrong...') } }); The response text cotains a form: <form id="akas-admin" method="post" action="/search/ajax/modifyakas/"> <input type="text" name="formfield" value="i am a form field"/> </form> Then I call a functiont that should submit that form: $('akas-admin').request({ onComplete: function(transport){ //alert('Form data saved! '+transport.responseText) $('admincovers_content').innerHTML=transport.responseText; } }); The problem is $('akas-admin) returns null , I tried to put the form with this id in the original document, which works. Question: Can I somehow "revalidate" the dom or access elements that have been inserted with innerHTML? Edit Info: document.getElementById("akas-admin").submit() works just fine, problem is i don't want to reload the whole page but post the form over ajax and get the response text in a callback function.   • what's the best (most effecient) way in asp .net to return a whole page into tabbed content?

    what i want to do is every time i click on a tab, the content area is replaced by pretty much a whole new page. i don't want a full page load so i want to do it in ajax, but i'm used to sending back small jason data via page methods. i'm not sure how i would construct a whole new page and return that via ajax and i would like to simply assign the whole content returned to a div and be done with it. what's the best way to do this with the least amount of overhead (i know there are some inefficient ways the scriptmanager does ajax)? or is it better to load the tabbed content in an iframe? fyi i'm already using jquery to call lightweight pagemethods on my asp net page and that works great.

  • CSS file in a Spring WAR returns a 404

    I have a J2EE application that I am building with Spring and Maven. It has the usual project structure. Here is a bit of the hierarchy. MyApplication src main webapp WEB-INF layout header.jsp styles main.css I want to include that CSS file in my JSP. I have the following tag in place. <c:url var="styleSheetUrl" value="/styles/main.css" /> <link rel="stylesheet" href="${styleSheetUrl}"> When I deploy the application, the CSS page isn't being located. When I view the page source, the href is /MyApplication/styles/main.css. Looking inside the WAR, there is a /styles/main.css. However, I get a 404 when I try to access the CSS file directly in the browser. I discovered that the reason for the issue was the Dispatcher Servlet mapping. The mapping looks as follows. <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>Spring MVC Dispatcher Servlet</servlet-name> <url-pattern>/</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> I imagine the Dispatcher Servlet doesn't know how to handle the CSS request. What is the best way to handle this issue? I would rather not have to change all of my request mappings.

  • pre tag is being formatted strangely in page

    I am outputting some code in one of my pages, using a <pre> tag. The code is being output correctly, but for some strange reason, the first line of the code is indented (i.e. shifted to the right, by quite a large amount). I am not applying any style to that element, and I checked in FF Firebug and no styling is being applied, so I have no idea why the first line is shifted by so much to the right - any ideas? the code that generates the tag looks like this: <pre> <?php echo $script_code; ?> </pre> The generated code looks like this: <iframe src="http://www.example.com"> </iframe> Any ideas what may be going wrong?

  • How can I hide this overlay element intelligently?

    The site I'm working on has a collection of navigation elements across the top ("Products", "Company", etc.). When you mouse over the Products link, an overlay appears that shows a list of products with links to each. There's a small link at the top of the container that, when clicked, closes the container. All of this works as advertised. The client has asked that, once a user's mouse pointer is a sufficient distance from the overlay element, the overlay element would close (without them having to click the 'close' link). This element appears on multiple pages that have disparate content, so I'm afraid it won't be as simple as adding a mouseover listener to another single element within the page and have it work everywhere. My question, I suppose, is this: is there a relatively easy way to know when the mouse cursor is x pixels away from this container and trigger an event when this occurs? My other thought is that I could just find several elements on the page that fit this criteria and add mouseover listeners to each, but I'm assuming there's a more elegant way of handling this. Thanks in advance - and please let me know if more detail is needed.

I have a HUGE form in one of the pages, and when submitting the form (action=php_page) URL is so long it covers half a word document in one line with all the passing variables... This is very ugly...     I have a php page which contains a form. Sometimes this page is submitted to itself (like when pics are uploaded). I wouldn't want users to have to fill in every field again and again, so I use this as a value of a text-input inside the form: value="<?php echo htmlentities(@$_POST['annonsera_headline'],ENT_COMPAT,'UTF-8');?>"> This works, except it adds a "\" sign before every double-quote... For instance writing 19" wheels gives after page is submitted to itself: 19\" wheels And if I don't even use htmlentities then everything after the quotes dissappears. What is the problem here?
