  • How GAE emulator limits list of available Python modules?

    I installed Python Mock module using PIP. When I try to import mock running under 'dev_appserver', GAE says that it can't find module 'mock'. import mock works perfectly in Python interpreter. I understand that dev_appserver behaves absolutely correctly because I can't install modules with PIP on GAE servers. My question is how technically dev_appserver filters list of modules that can be loaded?

  • web2py error while using distinct in the queries

  • Making text align equally in both IE and Chrome

By adding a &nbsp; after the text within the <h2>in IE, the text will automatically move up, which is consistent with Chrome. But I don't quite like this hack, so I would like to know if anybody knows what problem this is and recommends a better way to fix it if possible. Many thanks to you all. Note: this problem does not appear if the text is english only.

  • Link to another file in chrome extension

    I want to have a link in the popup.html file for my extension that loads another file (which will be included with the extension) how can I do this? or will I need to keep it in the same page? I tried using this code: <a href="/mail.html"> <img id="newmail_icon" src="" width="16" height="16" /> <span id="newmail">loading</span><br /> </a> But when I click the link nothing happens. I just found out that adding target="_blank" to the link will make it work and open in a new tab, but I can't get it to open in the popup. I have tried target="_self" but it didn't do anything.

  • is jQuery 1.4.2 compatible with Closure Compiler?

    According to the official release statement version 1.4 has been re-written to be compressed with Closure Compiler yet when I use the online version of closure compiler I get 130 warnings. This is the code I use. // ==ClosureCompiler== // @compilation_level ADVANCED_OPTIMIZATIONS // @output_file_name default.js // @code_url http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.js // ==/ClosureCompiler== And as far as I know you get the real benefit of Closure Compiler if you include the library with your code also, so it removes the unused functions. Yet my testing show that I can't get any further than compressing the library itself.. What am I doing wrong? Any kind of insight will be much appreciated.

    Hello, I have designed a trading application that handles customers stocks investment portfolio. I am using two datastore kinds: Stocks - Contains unique stock name and its daily percent change. UserTransactions - Contains information regarding a specific purchase of a stock made by a user : the value of the purchase along with a reference to Stock for the current purchase. db.Model python modules: class Stocks (db.Model): stockname = db.StringProperty(multiline=True) dailyPercentChange=db.FloatProperty(default=1.0) class UserTransactions (db.Model): buyer = db.UserProperty() value=db.FloatProperty() stockref = db.ReferenceProperty(Stocks) Once an hour I need to update the database: update the daily percent change in Stocks and then update the value of all entities in UserTransactions that refer to that stock. In the dashboard, I see that the task.py takes around 65% of the CPU (Stock.py takes around 20%-30%) and I am using almost all of the 6.5 free CPU hours given to me by app engine. I have no problem to enable billing and pay for additional CPU, but the problem is the scaling of the system… Using 6.5 CPU hours for 100 stocks is very poor. I was wondering, given the requirements of the system as mentioned above, if there is a better and more efficient implementation (or just a small change that can help with the current implemntation) than the one presented here.     In my app (GWT on GAE) we are storing on our database the serving URL that is stored on blobstore. When user selects one of these files and clicks "delete", we need to delete the file from blobstore.   • Design for tagging system in GAE-J

    I need a simple tagging system in GAE-J. As I see it, the entity that is being tagged should have a collection of keys referring to the tags with which it's associated. A tag entity should simply contain the tag string itself, and a collection of keys pointing to the entities associated with the tag. When an entity's list of tags is altered, the system will create a new tag if the tag is unknown, and then append the entity's key to that tag's key collection. If the tag already exists, then the entity's key is simply appended to the tag's key collection. This seems relatively straight-forward and uncontroversial to me, but I would like some feedback on this design, just to be sure.

But i can configure the device to send the data over port 80. so we wrote a genericservlet to capture this data on GAE.   • Telerik RadAjaxManager and Mouse Events in Chrome

    Whenever I'm using Telerik's RadAjaxManager in Chrome, the events sent to any mouse events I'm using are passed as null. For instance, the following: <img id="Image1" src="image.gif" onclick="alert(event)" /> <rad:RadAjaxManager ID="RadAjaxManager1" runat="server"> <AjaxSettings> </AjaxSettings> </rad:RadAjaxManager> Alerts null when clicking the image. This does not happen in IE or FF. The version of the RadAjaxManager is 1.8.5.0. I'm guessing the problem does not occur in later versions, but an upgrade is not an option at the moment. I tried Telerik's support forum, but they didn't really provide any answer. What could cause such a problem? And how can it be dealt with?

    Hi i just put up a validation function in jScript to validate filename in fileupload control[input type file]. The function seems to work fine in FF and sometimes in ie but never in Chrome. Basically the function tests if File name is atleast 1 char upto 25 characters long.Contains only valid characters,numbers [no spaces] and are of file types in the list.     It appears that a certain project of mine will require the use of quad-trees, something that I have never worked with before. From what I have read they should allow substantial performance enhancements than a brute-force attempt at the problem would yield. Are any of these python modules any good?   • Refactored App Engine project - now Eclipse is infinitely building the project without end

    I renamed some files in my App Engine project and refactored code, changing references to variables. Everything seemed fine until I changed the references in the web.xml for the project. Then I got a complaint about some error with the DataNucleus enhancer and now the project build process is stuck at 22%. I tried stopping Eclipse and restarting but the build process keeps hanging. Any tips on how to clean out whatever it's getting stuck on?
