  • Good link checking tool?

    Hi all Can anyone recommend a good, free link checker to check all pages within a domain? Ideally a browser add-on or a web app (otherwise something that runs on OSX). Crucially it needs to follow links recursively within a domain. Links outside the domain should be followed to a depth of 1, but not checked recursively. This is for the fairly common situation where you want to check all pages on your own site, but not evaluate the links on e.g. Google's homepage. I can't find anything suitable. Am I missing something? I've tried the Firefox LinkChecker add-on and the W3C link validator - neither seem to have the 'follow recursively within a domain' property, or am I being dumb? I know Xenu does this, but I don't run Windows.

  • li + float crashes IE6

    I know. The dreaded ugly browser we don't want to support, but, it seems it couldn't be simpler to crash this thing. The URL The images gallery is a Joomla Plugin(Sigplus) and works fine with all other standard browsers. In IE it was not showing correctly, all the images were showing in one line vertically one below the other. But the browser would not hang or crash and the gallery worked as well. This is a Joomla plugin and I didn't want to mess with how it works, so, for IE I added a simple rule in the header : <!--[if lt IE 7]> <style> li { float:left; margin-right:5px; } </style> <![endif]--> This fixed the issue and the gallery shows up as it should. But, as you scroll down, as you reach the last row of images IE hangs and crashes. I tried deleting the last 5 images thinking it was something to do with the images themselves. But now it hangs on the current last row and crashes. Know what it could be?

  • CSS: How to affect OTHER elements when a div is hovered

    I think this is a very basic question but I not sure how/if it can be done. What I want to do is to is a certain div is hovered, affect the properties of another div. For example, in this simple example when you hover over #cube it changes the background-color but what I that when I hover over #container, #cubeis affected. I don't want to explain further cause I think it might be confusing, but please ask the the question is no clear enough!! Thanks in advance!! jQueriers: abstain yourselves!! only CSS answers :)

  • capturing click events on web-browser scrollbars

    Hi, is it possible to capture a click event on a scrollbar? I have some code where i am observing the click and mousedown events on the document. However, it seems that when I click on the scrollbar, the event is not captured. This leads me to believe that the scrollbars aren't really part of the document. (Assumption :-)) Is this a correct assumption?     few month ago i write something to get the latitude or longitude from google API. latter i get the database from drupal for latitude or longitude to most of city in worlds. but the problem is that the same city name can be found two or more times in a area. like Firozabad in India and bangladesh both. Agra in UP and agar in Rajasthan. means the confusion in name by user if they found two city by same name they are confused. i hear that HTML 5 support latitude or longitude of the visiter but i need latitude or longitude where they are born or city they want to use to fill a form. how i can get the latitude or longtiude from API like google and some other. the process is that: user put the location in textbox for getting their latitude or longitude. for right thing i want to show them all location [if same thing found more then one]. they can choose the right location and after click they can get the lati and langitude. how i can do this using any API.

  • Use JS to add characters into textfield

    I want to add a $ symbol before a users entry into a text field without actually submitting the $ when the user clicks submit. Additionally, I need to prohibit the user from entering anything but numerical values in to the text input. I know about the JQuery input mask (http://www.conetrees.com/2009/03/blog/jquery-masked-input-plugin-increase-usability-for-masked-format-input-fields) but this plugin requires you to set the exact number of digits/letters that the user is supposed to enter, which is no good for my current project. Can anyone think of a way to accomplish what I have described above?

    By default, an unstyled set of nested <ul> lists looks like this (in Chrome, Firefox, and IE at least): The top level has a list-style-type of disc, the next level is circle, and subsequent levels are square. If I include a stylesheet that changes the list-style-type to none, is there a simple way to revert back to the "automatic bullet types" later in the document? (e.g., override with a subsequent CSS definition or JavaScript style change) Basically, I'm looking for something like list-style-type: auto; (which is apparently not valid and has no effect): <style type="text/css"> ul { list-style-type: none; } ul { list-style-type: auto; } /* Does not work */ </style> Setting the list-style-type back to disc changes every bullet in the list and I no longer see different bullets at different levels, so that doesn't work either. Is the only way to accomplish this by explicitly defining styles for every level? e.g.: <style type="text/css"> ul { list-style-type: disc; } ul ul { list-style-type: circle; } ul ul ul { list-style-type: square; } </style>

  • Absolute positioned div not hidden.

    I have this <div id="container"> <div id="div1"></div> <div> Now, let's assume that: the "container" has a width of 300px the "container" has overflow: hidden; the "div1" has a width of 1000px; the "div1" is absolute positioned, top:0px,left:0px; The problem: The "div1" is not hidden, it overflows the "container" but it's still showing :(. If I simply remove the "position:absolute" it will work. How can I hide the overflow of "div1" ?

  • Is it safe to display user input as input values without sanitation?

    Say we have a form where the user types in various info. We validate the info, and find that something is wrong. A field is missing, invalid email, et cetera. When displaying the form to the user again I of course don't want him to have to type in everything again so I want to populate the input fields. Is it safe to do this without sanitation? If not, what is the minimum sanitation that should be done first? And to clearify: It would of course be sanitized before being for example added to a database or displayed elsewhere on the site.
