  • "Thread-Safe Calls" with "Invoke" method to Winform control leads very heavy memory leak!!

But if the thread is in a while loop, it will cause the heavy memory leak. As I use taskmanage I can see the memory is increasing.   • How do I get my HP M1132 printer to work?

    I connected my printer to the computer and Ubuntu 12.04recognized it and installed it, but when I try to print something, the printer just gives a signal as if the document had already been printed and nothing happens, and at the printing queue the job is still there as "Processing - Not Connected?" or "Stopped". The printer is working fine on Microsoft Windows and I am sure it is connected. In the status field in the printer properties, it says: Processing - /usr/lib/cups/filter/hpcups failed. I'd like someone to please teach me how to get this printer (and it's scanner) working on Ubuntu.

    Hi there, I am a Java newbie trying to maintain an application that works fine under J2SE 5.0 (32- and 64-bit) but has a very specific problem when run under Java SE 6 64-bit: [Tims-MPB:~] tlynch% java -version java version "1.6.0_15" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_15-b03-226) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 14.1-b02-92, mixed mode) The application is cross-platform and reportedly works correctly on Java SE 6 under Windows, though I haven't been able to verify that myself. The program uses a JTextField for some text entry and a JLabel to indicate the text to be entered.   • UIWebview: Dynamically adding html content

    I am making an app in which I get text from my server and display it in UIWebview. After some time more text is added and client(iphone) is notified about the additional-text. Now I want to inject this text into my UIWebview. Anybody know how to do it? One method is to update some text file and reload the content. But I dont want to reload the page. Another way can be to use javascript to check updates in a local file (which seems better). Is there any known better solution?

    We often see websites that display first few lines of an article and then append ... [More] so that people who are interested in can click on it to view the full article. To implement this functionality, we first need to find out where the article text should be cut to append the ... [More]. Since there must be some HTML/ CSS coupled with the article text, we must remember to ignore them when calculating the length of the text. But there is something I just can't figure it out, if more than one language is mixed in the first few lines of the article text, the length of the text will be very difficult to calculate since the characters can be of variable length. How should we solve this problem?

  • Which parallel pattern to use?

    I need to write a server application that fetches mails from different mail servers/mailboxes and then needs to process/analyze these mails. Traditionally, I would do this multi-threaded, launching a thread for fetching mails (or maybe one per mailbox) and then process the mails. We are moving more and more to servers where we have 8+ cores, so I would like to make use of these cores as much as possible (and not use 1 at 100% and leave the seven others untouched). So conceptually, as an example, it would be nice that I could write the application in such a way that two cores are "continuously" fetching emails and four cores are "continuously" processing/analyzing the emails (since processing and analyzing mails is more CPU intensive than fetching mails). This seems like a good concept, but after studying some parallel patterns, I'm not really sure how this is best implemented. None of the patterns really fit. I'm working in VS2012, native C++, but I guess from a design point of view this does not really matter and just some pointers on how to organize this would be great!

  • Lexmark X7170 shows documents as printed when they haven't

    I made the move from Windows 7 to Ubuntu not dual booting because I have decided to quit gaming to spare more time for my studies. I just needed an OS for browsing the web and word processing etc. After I installed Ubuntu I installed the AMD GPU drivers, after which I clicked on the little printer icon, selected add printer and it found the drivers for the Lexmark 7000 series and I installed them. Now my problem is when I print something from Writer it processes it thinks its completed it, when in fact it hasn't printed anything. I tried printing a test page but it was stuck on processing for 5 minutes. I have restarted my computer and turned the printer on and off. I'm running 64bit if that changes anything.

  • JavaOne 2013: (Key) Notes of a conference – State of the Java platform and all the roadmaps by Amis

    Last week’s JavaOne conference provided insights in the roadmap of the Java platform as well as in the current state of things in the Java community. The close relationship between Oracle and IBM concerning Java, the (continuing) lack of such a relationship with Google, the support from Microsoft for Java applications on its Azure cloud and the vibrant developer community – with over 200 different Java User Groups in many countries of the world. There were no major surprises or stunning announcements. Java EE 7 (release in June) was celebrated, the progress of Java 8 SE explained as well as the progress on Java Embedded and ME. The availability of NetBeans 7.4 RC1 and JDK 8 Early Adopters release as well as the open sourcing of project Avatar probably were the only real news stories. The convergence of JavaFX and Java SE is almost complete; the upcoming alignment of Java SE Embedded and Java ME is the next big consolidation step that will lead to a unified platform where developers can use the same skills, development tools and APIs on EE, SE, SE Embedded and ME development. This means that anything that runs on ME will run on SE (Embedded) and EE – not necessarily the reverse because not all SE APIs are part of the compact profile or the ME environment. However, the trimming down of the SE libraries and the increased capabilities of devices mean that a pretty rich JVM runs on many devices – such as JavaFX 8 on the Raspberry PI. The major theme of the conference was Internet of Things. A world of things that are smart and connected, devices like sensors, cameras and equipment from cars, fridges and television sets to printers, security gates and kiosks that all run Java and are all capable of sending data over local network connections or directly over the internet. The number of devices that has these capabilities is rapidly growing. This means that the number of places where Java programs can help program the behavior of devices is growing too. It also means that the volume of data generated is expanding and that we have to find ways to harvest that data, possibly do a local pre-processing (filter, aggregate) and channel the data to back end systems. Terms typically used are edge devices (small, simple, publishing data), gateways (receiving data from many devices, collecting and consolidating, pre-processing, sending onwards to back end – typically using real time event processing) and enterprise services – receiving the data-turned-information from the gateways to further consolidate, distribute and act upon. A cheap device like the Raspberry PI is a perfect way to get started as a Java developer with what embedded (device) programming means and how interaction with physical input and output takes place.   • regex not working "within" javascript string

    I'm trying to replace all mentions of [b] in a text string and replace it with <b>. The problem with what I'm using below this that it's replace every [b] on the page, and I only want it to change the [b]'s within the text string ("text") that I'm sending in. Taking out the 'g' for global in the regex doesn't work very well because it then doesn't replace them all... text = text.replace(new RegExp('(^|\\s|>)\\[b](\\S.*?\\S)\\[/b]($|\\s|<)', 'gim') , '$1<strong>$2</strong>$3'); any ideas?
