I'm not a technical person but I want to know how I can move my blog to my domain name. Can anyone please provide step-by-step process to get this done? Thanks so much!
I am in the process of redoing my home network, I have a couple of ipads and laptops that I need wireless access for. I plan to use this old computer as my router with smoothwall installed on it. My question is, how do I go about setting up wireless access on my network using a computer with smoothwall on it?
Sounds like the best way is to connect a regular WAP to the network. Cany anyone confirm?
Firefox appears to using too much memory and cpu even when it is idle
What tools exist for monitoring the CPU and memory utilization of Firefox?
I am thinking of an equivalent of Sysinternals Process Explorer for Firefox or something like top or htop, on a page, script and addon basis. More technically oriented, something I can see and hand over to the script designers or Mozilla and say "see what this doing to my browsing experience!!"
I have my home folder with a few GB.
Is it possible to run tar on it, create a home.tar.gz, and then for changed files, it creates home1.tar.gz only with modified files from previous tar (thus being an incremental backup)?
I would like to check the resulting checksum files and export them as well like home.md5, home1.md5, etc. (I know this could be another process, but interesting as well).

I'm hosting a grizzly web service on a Windows 7 Pro machine (embedded in a regular Java process), and it is binding to http://my-domain-name.
When trying to hit the service from another machine, requests to http://my-domain-name fail (fiddler shows error code 502), but requests to http://my-ip work. When the service runs on a Windows Server 2008 machine, this doesn't happen (both requests succeed).
What could be the issue?
I have a csv file that constantly needs opened into Excel and then have the data copied over to a separate workbook.
I find the process of having to click through all of the dialogs, setting the text identifier, setting the columns to all be text extremely tedious.
In many actions with data like this in regards to MSSQL or Access the program will ask you if you wish to save these steps however Excel doesn't readily ask that.
Is there any way to get a comparable usage with Excel?
I have a bunch of png files that I want to rescale.
Oversimplifying a little, let's say I have files named:
[email protected][email protected][email protected]
and so on, and I want to make:
apple.png
orange.png
pear.png,
and so on, with the output files all at half the scale of the corresponding input files. Is there a good tool for that? I have about 200 input files, so preferably the whole process would be automated.
How to make the autocompletion feature return the current suggestion (from "completion list") in full?
That is, how not to jump only to the next CamelCase with TAB ... but instead have, say, CTRL + TAB choose the suggestion immediately/in full?
Example
Having CGPDFStringGetLength selected in the "completion list", one would have to press TAB four (4) times!
first TAB get to CGPDF
then to CGPDFString
then to CGPDFStringGet
then to CGPDFStringGetLength
It would be nice to have CTRL + TAB (for example) make the above a one-step process.
I am in the process of adding a new slave to a replicated mysql setup. All of the slave nodes are virtual machines.
If I clone one of the nodes to a new VM, then start it with no networking, stop mysql, change the server-id in my.cnf to a new id and then restart mysql and networking, will it all work correctly, or will mysql get confused because it used to be a different server id?
OS: Ubuntu 10.10
VM Platform: VMWare 5
MySQL : Server version: 5.1.49-1ubuntu8.1-log (Ubuntu)
Background: I have a cron job which chown's the directories of new users. More often than not, these users are already uploading files to the server before the job occurs.
So will files successfully have their ownership changed if they are in the process of being uploaded?
I have a Windows 7 computer which have a strange behavior: when preview is enabled in explorer, I double-click on any Word document, Word is launched, the document is loaded, and immediatly explorer is in the foreground window (so Word is in the background). The whole process take less than one second.
Only with Word. Not Excel or anything.
Only on one computer (5 others are identical and installed the same day).
The new MobileMe iCal data lives in the cloud, and the data on your computer is actually a cache. This support article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4226 from Apple explains how to backup calendar data by exporting to an .ics file. I would like to automate that process via AppleScript, Automator or any other method (paid software is fine).
The sticking point with AppleScript is selecting the calendar on the left hand column. In Automator I don't think the available actions support this level of automation.
It is possible for javascript to get stuck in a loop of opening up alerts. For example:
for(var i=0;;i++)
alert('This will never stop');
Is there a way to gracefully stop this in firefox, without having to kill the whole process?
I have researched this question and there seems to be two methods: 1) Run Sysprep, and 2) Run Sysprep followed by ImageX (this is what Microsoft says should be done).
What does ImageX do and any pointers on the general process to follow? I am trying to prepare a Virtual PC (contains Windows 7) for duplication.
Thanks,
-Todd
I recently upgraded all of the parts in my FreeBSD 9 server.
I purchased an SSD to run as a the root drive - I'd like to enable TRIM on it but the only documentation I can find on it is that it can be enabled using newfs or tunefs.
Is there a way to specify flags to newfs during the installation process, and if not, am I going to run into TRIM-related issues if I run tunefs after installation is complete?
I have noticed that when selecting options (drop down menus, radio buttons etc) on some websites you see an ever more complex URL being created and then you can use that URL to access that website at a later date and go straight to the page with your desired options. Unfortunately on other websites the URL remains fixed and you appear to have no choice but to select the options all over again. I was wondering if there was some utility that would help automate this process.
I'd like to for once leave selinux running on a server for the alleged increased security.
I usually disable selinux to get anything to work.
How do I tell selinux to allow mysql connections?
The most documentation I've found is this line from mysql.com:
If you are running under Linux and Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux) is enabled, make sure you have disabled SELinux protection for the mysqld process.
wow ... that's really helpful.
I have two Windows 2003 x64 R2 IIS boxes that are ostensibly setup the same way.
But for whatever reason, one of them has a W3WP.exe process for each application pool and the other one does not.
What could be the reason?
I have been contributing to Stanford's Folding@Home project for some time with most of the computers I own.
I just installed the Windows client on a new machine running Windows 7, but see that the F@H process only binds to one CPU core. Is this due to it being run on Windows? (I have the 64-bit edition of Windows 7 installed.)
On the Mac and under 64-bit Linux distros, it will run across all available CPU cores.

I am a little frustrated having to use to separate USBs for booting on mac and windows. Is there a way that I can have the version for mac and the version for windows on one USB? or even better, one version that can be booted on both? I have heard of multibootiso, but I'm not entirely sure that it will work on imac.
If needed, I am willing to use terminal to make this happen, even if its a long complicated process.
I get the below error on my laptop and it drastically reduces the performance of my machine as the Indexer is constantly running. Please identify a solution except re-installation ?

Can anyone give me a general estimate for what web-hosts charge for data storage ($/gigabyte)? A shared-webhosting service is what I'm referring to. I have been trying to compare the price for storage offered by business process automation SaaS and now I'm looking more general.
We currently have an exchange server setup at work and need to add a large number of users which will all share the same mailbox rights. We currently have around 17 permissions which must be added to each new user and we need a way to simplify the process or copy rights between two users. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
