• How do I find the Recaptcha ID?

  I've been stuck on something for the past day. I'm building a RoR bot, and part of it involves signing up for an email account with mail.com. I've automated all the filling out of the form, apart from the captcha (Recaptcha). I'll be using the deathbycaptcha Ruby gem. However, in order to have the captcha solved, I'll need to get either its ID or its URL. While this shows up when I "enable form details" with the Firefox Web Developer toolbar, it doesn't seem to be in the source. How can I find it out? I'm using Watir. Thanks! Joe

• Facebook like box not working on mobile browser

  I'm writing a simple splash page for a client to hold a like box widget: <iframe src="http://www.facebook.com/plugins/likebox.php?id=***********&amp;width=238&amp;connections=4&amp;stream=false&amp;header=false&amp;height=200" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" style="border:none; overflow:hidden; width:238px; height:200px;" allowTransparency="true"></iframe> The page displays fine, with the like box, but when you click on the like it depresses without prompting the user to logon and does not update facebook. This behavior seems to be on mobile browsers only. On desktop browsers (ie8, firefox, safari) it works just fine. Anyone had this happen, and if so what was their solution?

• Writing a script to bypass college login page

  My college has a silly login page that requires you to download a whole bunch of garbage that a lot of us don't need (Norton Anti-virus, Antispyware software, etc.). We have to have them running to get on the internet on campus. Though, if you are on Linux, or at least set your user-agent to linux, the requirements are gone. We could easily use Firefox with the useragent switcher to bypass this, but it'd be nice to create a script that automates this. How would this be possible? I figure this could be written in python, and could grab the webpage with curl specifying a user agent? How would I go about posting the data back to the servers? Thanks

  I am using json with unicode text, and having a problem with the IE8 native json implementation. <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <script> var stringified = JSON.stringify("?????? olé"); alert(stringified); </script> Using json2.js or FireFox native json, the alert() string is the same as in the original one. IE8 on the other hand returns Unicode values rather than the original text \u0e2a\u0e27\u0e31\u0e2a\u0e14\u0e35 ol\u00e9 . Is there an easy way to make IE behave like the others, or convert this string to how it should be ? And would you regard this as a bug in IE, I thought native json implementations were supposed to be drop-in identical replacements for json2.js ?

  hello everybody, i'm looking for a technique to adapt a html listbox to hierarchical content with an unlimited number of levels ( const 1 would be sufficient ). hierarchy levels should be collapsible as in the usual file explorer views. the html listbox behaviour should be preserved / mimicked as comprehensively as possible. do you have a hint on where to find or how to implement this ? jquery solutions are fine. firefox 3.5+, ie 8+, safari 5 must be supported; opera 11, chrome 9 would be nice. as far as i understand the issue, listbox contents are rendered inside their own browser window sporting none of the standard window adornments. a hint on how to obtain a handle on this window in js would be a sufficient starting point, as well as correcting me in case i misconceived the browser behaviour. thanks in advance for your efforts, best regards, carsten

  We can create a function p in the following code: var p = function() { }; if (typeof(console) != 'undefined' && console.log) { p = function() { console.log(arguments); }; } but the arguments are passed like an array to console.log, instead of passed one by one as in console.log(arguments[0], arguments[1], arguments[2], ... Is there a way to expand the arguments and pass to console.log like the way above? Note that if the original code were var p = function() { }; if (typeof(console) != 'undefined' && console.log) { p = console.log; } then it works well on Firefox and IE 8 but not on Chrome.

This code works fine in firefox and older versions of internet explorer but its not adjusting the height in v7 or later.....   Hi, I googled this many times but now I have to ask it here. I want to make a workflow for a website for Developpement/Production. My constraint is that I use Facebook Connect (Facebook Graph now) so I need to have the dev and prod on the same domain and server. (to be able to log in and test the features) I thought I will edit the CodeIgniter Index.php to redirect if I have a specific user agent (I can edit the one of my firefox) You think it's a good Idea or you have a better one ? And now comes the eternal question : how can I deploy this the easy way ? should I use Capistrano or Phing ? or simply a script with SVN ? Please help me, I'm totally new to this Deployment thing. I used to work directly in production for my little websites or on other domains. but now it's not possible anymore.

• Why does this jQuery dropdown menu display subcategory selections only for certain top-level categories?

  I'm trying to implement a dropdown menu based on a jQuery plugin from Filament Group: http://jsfiddle.net/chunkymonkey/Pr8k4/ What I am having difficulty fixing is a bug where certain categories can be expanded to show their subcategories while others show nothing when opened up. For example: Alternative Rock can be expanded to show its multiple subcategories . . . BUT . . . World Music, which has equally many subcategories, shows no subcategories when expanded. I would be very grateful if anyone could help me figure out what's causing this. Thanks. UPDATE: Just noticed this problem may be Chrome-specific(??). I just tested it in IE8 and Firefox and it seems to work correctly in both.

In c# WinForm I want to do drag and drop but I dont want the image of DragDropEffects Move, Copy or whatever. I want to display an image with half opaque. Just like Firefox when dragging an image, you would see the image folowing the mouse pointer like a ghost :) I already Implement DoDragDrop, DragEnter and DragDrop events. I just want to customize the dragging effects with overlay image.

• Some little extra space is being added when a drop-down is on :focus

  My problem is that when I place :focus style for our dropdown lists like so: input, select { margin: 0; padding: 0; } select:focus { background: #FFC; } ...the dropdown with the focused selection suddenly has an extra spacing on all sides (1-2px spacing). See images below: It may seem unnoticable on the photos above but when you do a selection, the increase in padding/spacing cannot be missed. I already tried removing margin: 0, padding: 0, thinking that the :focus state might be reverting to the padded version but still the same. Has anybody encountered this problem? Only happens in Firefox.

  I am attempting to make a program in C which presents a GUI and allows the user to select from a list of applications, which to install on the computer. I can manage the gui, but I've never been taught how to actually issue command line commands. I know with bash its just apt-get install firefox for example, but how do I do such a thing with C? i.e. on click, the program runs 'apt-get install The other problem is I'm not familiar with the proper name for this interaction, so it is hard to search. • Google CDN not gzipping jquery

  If I navigate here: http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/jquery/jquery-1.4.2.min.js I download 70k using Firefox 3.6.3 and I can confirm it is sending Accept-Encoding: gzip. If I use the Microsoft one: http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/jquery/jquery-1.4.2.min.js I download 30k (and it comes through as Content-Encoding: gzip) I am also experiencing this when using jquery 1.4.2 in regular sites eg jquery.com. Funily enough, stack overflow which references jquery 1.3.2 on the google cdn, is coming through gzipped. Why is this happening? Is it some kind of issue with google or am I missing something? I live in Melbourne, Australia.

• jquery animate() problem (syntax ?)

But i debugged it with jquery.lint because it was throwing some random error in IE. lint tells me: When I called animate(...) with your args, an error was thrown! TypeError: c.speed is not a function { message="c.speed is not a function", more...} You passed: [Object { marginLeft="-=640px"}, 800, function()] and it indicates me the line i have posted. I have checked the jquery doc, but my syntax seams ok. Do you know what i am doing wrong? The expand occurs, however the blinking cursor disapears, at least in Firefox! Edited: The textarea is still focused, and i can type on it. Why does this happen? Is there a way to show it again?   I developed a web app that responds with data in the format as specified by the client in the HTTP Accept Headers. Everything worked fine while using Firefox, but when I wanted to check my CSS / HTML on Chrome and IE, both of them wanted to download the index page, as if it's an unknown content type. After some research I found this article, which states that IE sends out a lot of crud in it's HTTP Accept headers, amongst others a list of image/* content types right at the start. This caused my web app to try to send the index page as an image/jpeg. So how do I know when to ignore and when to use the Accept Headers?

Firefox throws an error that simply says "$(" for that line. Anyone know what might be causing this?

• Track each URL and Parameters sent from Form

  Simple question really for anyone who's been through this: I have a form that I'm placing on a site. This form submits some parameters to a site which then sends some parameters using "GET" to another site, which then opens the third site. Now the first 2 sites pass so quickly that I can not see what parameters were passed using the URL. I can do a manual check using source code but its too long and complex. I just need a simple tool or hint or firefox addon on how to track every single URL (wven if it has a META redirect) so I can read parameters being sent via the form. Thanks

  I'm getting really tired of working against click-once and I'm wondering if there's a better alternative. I'm looking for a programming environment that preferably does not depend on the .net framework. I'm not sure how much .net does for me exactly (though I have some idea) but I'd like to make my programs as independent of downloading a microsoft or other framework. I often think of professional programs like itunes, gimp or firefox that don't require someone to have a .net framwork. I'd also like to have these programs work on windows mac and linux. Any suggestions?

• How does one record audio from a Javascript based webapp?

  I'm trying to write a web-app that records WAV files (eg: from the user's microphone). I know Javascript alone can not do this, but I'm interested in the least proprietary method to augment my Javascript with. My targeted browsers are Firefox for PC and Mac (so no ActiveX). Please share your experiences with this. I gather it can be done with Flash (but not as a WAV formated file). I gather it can be done with Java (but not without code-signing). Are these the only options? @dominic-mazzoni I'd like to record the file as a WAV because because the purpose of the webapp will be to assemble a library of good quality short soundbites. I estimate upload will be 50 MB, which is well worth it for the quality. The app will only be used on our intranet. • IE - hidden radio button not checked when the corresponding label is clicked

  I just noticed a strange behaviour in IE7. I have radio buttons with associated labels as follows: <input type="radio" name="filter" id="filter_1" value="Activities" checked="checked" /> <label for="filter_1">Activities</label> <input type="radio" name="filter" id="filter_2" value="Services" /> <label for="filter_2">Services</label> The radio button is hidden via css with display:none or visibility: hidden (don't ask) The problem is - when I click the label in IE7 (haven't looked at other IE versions yet) the associated radio button is not actually checked. I confirmed this with jquery - the label click event is fired, but the radio button click event is not. A form post also confirms that the checked radio button does not change. This works correctly in firefox, and also works correctly if I remove the CSS that hides the radio buttons. Is this an IE bug or am I missing something?
