• Google Pie Chart and Bar Chart (both Interactive) not showing labels.

  I'm trying to put Google's BarChart and PieChart both the client side version, and i'm experiencing some problems with the labels over the pie and the labels on the left of the vertical axis (of the bar chart). I checked the code a lot of times and it seems to be like that you can see in the examples. I've tried the same page on Firefox and Chrome and it shows the labels without problems. If i try the examples on IE8 the labels are shown but not in my page. Sincerely I've not any idea where to start to fix this thing. Someone can help me or give me an advice? Thanks in advance.

• Help with IE bugs when writing JSON via an ASPX response

  I have an ASPX page that I am using to write JSON. It works great in Firefox and Chrome, but when I try and use it in IE 8 it gives me an "The XML page cannot be displayed" error instead of allowing jQuery to load the JSON being written by the response. Any ideas? • How can I replace the contents of a scrollable div without jumping to the top?

  I have a div with the overflow: auto style. It is populated via AJAX with a result table. The rows in this div are editable, and with each edit I refresh the contents. The problem is, if the user edits something at the bottom of the div, the refresh brings them back to the top. I had some luck using anchors with Firefox, but not all versions of IE jumped to the anchors within the div. Is there any way to replace the contents of a div like this without having the scrollbar jump to the top? Any other suggestions? I like to refresh the entire set of results rather than just the updated row if possible, but if there are no workarounds I guess I will pursue that instead.

• Scraping ASP.NET site with Ruby

  I would like to scrape the search results of this ASP.NET site using Ruby and preferably just using Hpricot (I cannot open an instance of Firefox): http://www.ngosinfo.gov.pk/SearchResults.aspx?name=&foa=0 However, I am having trouble figuring out how to go through each page of results. Basically, I need simulate clicking on links like these: <a href="javascript:__doPostBack('ctl00$ContentPlaceHolder1$Pager1$2','')" class="blue_11" id="ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_Pager1">2</a> <a href="javascript:__doPostBack('ctl00$ContentPlaceHolder1$Pager1$3','')" class="blue_11" id="ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_Pager1">3</a> etc. I tried using Net::HTTP to handle the post, but while that received the correct HTML, there were no search results (I'm probably not doing that correctly). In addition, the URL of the page does not contain any parameters indicating page, so it is not possible to force the results that way. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Twitter widget stops page from rendering in IE 8, anybody know why?

  The widget works fine in Firefox but it completely stops the page from being rendered in IE8. • Safari - showing expired .NET Page

  We have a strange problem in Safari. When the user logs out of our Web Application we expire the forms authentication with the following FormsAuthentication.SignOut(); Session.Abandon(); This works fine in IE and Firefox (when the user hits the back button they are presented with a page expired message and are forced to login) but in Safari the last page the user was working on shows up. I tried many of the suggested thinks like setting the Response.Expires but nothing helps , Has anyone faced this problem ? Do u have any suggestion / workarounds ? Thanks

  Hi, I have a problem with my site in internet explorer. It works fine in firefox, opera etc. Sometimes internet explorer won't show my flash banner. For example when I'm on home page it works fine, but when i press services it doesn't show. Also, when opnend in older versions in IE the page get's completely mixed up. The banner doesn't show and the menu bar gets missplaced. Please help. • Sprite background image lags on mouse hover

  I have basic DOM menu that has sprite background images for the first level of "LI"s. It works just fine, but I guess there is some problem and instead of switching the image right away on hover it goes blank and after about a second the hover image "appears" (shifts). That happens only on first hovering. After that it's smooth like it's supposed to be. Refresh the page and there it is again... Frustrating... In IE8 the scrollbar appears but doesn't work, and I don't have any other way to move down. • Why does internet explorer 8 fail to locate jpg files that other browsers can find?

  The following URL doesn't display for me in Internet Explorer 8. I even tried compatibility mode and it didn't fix the issue. http://beat.com.au/sites/default/files/images/_DSC5596.jpg It appears just fine in Chrome/Safari/Firefox. I suspect it has something to do with the filename starting with _ but that seems like a fairly big stretch to me. Is this error repeatable on other people's computers? And why on earth would such a strange thing happen anyway?

  Hi there, I have to use an external js file, in which I load the jquery. My js file look like this: document.write('<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.4.4.min.js"></script>'); (function($) { $(document).ready(function() { alert('it works!!'); }); })(jQuery); On the firefox console I get the "jQuery is not defined" and I think it is because the jQuery library is loaded after the $ function from my js file. Do you have any idea about how can I fix this? If I run the script from the FF console all works fine.

It works great in chrome, but in firefox, the variable scrollfactor, that is suppose to get the current scroll-position, doesn't update. ps, some people have this issue due to lack of correct doctype. I believe i have declared it correctly like this: <!DOCTYPE html>

• In CakePHP, how to leave all prefixes?

  I have a link that goes like this: $this->Html->link('Welcome', array('controller' => 'users', 'action' => 'add')); I suspect it doesn't work (Firefox says the redirect will never complete), so I did this: $this->Html->link('Welcome', array('controller' => 'users', 'action' => 'add', 'my'=>false)); 'my' is a prefix. I also have 'admin', 'ajax', and 'rss'. So now instead of pointing to /users/add or /my/users/add, the link points to /rss/users/add. The link is in a header, in a layout so I don't know which prefix it will be invoked from. I want to go to /users/add, that is, leave all prefixes altogether. How do I do that in CakePHP? I'm using 1.3 version.

Specifically, if they are inactive for a short period of time, then go back to the site, there will be a minute-two minute delay before the user sees a response. (the standard browser is Firefox in this case) I have Perfmon up and running, the cpu utilization is usually below 20% (single proc...don't ask). The database is humming along. And I'm pulling my hair out. So, what metrics/tools do you find useful when evaluating IIS performance?

• How to get Flex app to load quicker?

  We've got an app written in Flex that displays data from our app. The .swf file is only 427kb, but it takes a full five seconds to load in Firefox. This is a headache for our users because they need to access the page that contains the app frequently. (The app displays documents, and it's really slow to march through a list of them). I've confirmed that it's not a slow web server problem. The .swf appears to be cached in the browser. Firebug reports that every time the web page accesses the .swf, the app server returns a "304 Not Modified" response, meaning that the load time from the server is almost zero. Is there anything we can do to debug this issue? Or is the Flash player just slow?

  I am testing my noscript tags which display content when javascript is disabled, this works in Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Camino, IE6, IE7, IE8, IE9, basically everything but Opera (I'm running version 11, not sure if its isolated to that version). • Why specifcially in my example does this "too much recursion" error occur in my JavaScript?

  I have been looking into this for a little while now. I have a gallery on my page, that uses Ariel Flesler's scrollTo plugin. It works fine on the home page, but not on the Contact page. In Firefox, I get the error... Too much recursion I have sorted through as much code as possible and set breakpoints in a few places. I am pretty sure it is something to do with the plugin (specifically, when it is called in the click handler). For your convenience, I am using the unpacked versions of jQuery and scrollTo plugin. What on earth am I doing wrong? Thanks for your time.

  We can create a function p in the following code: var p = function() { }; if (typeof(console) != 'undefined' && console.log) { p = function() { console.log(arguments); }; } but the arguments are passed like an array to console.log, instead of passed one by one as in console.log(arguments[0], arguments[1], arguments[2], ... Is there a way to expand the arguments and pass to console.log like the way above? Note that if the original code were var p = function() { }; if (typeof(console) != 'undefined' && console.log) { p = console.log; } then it works well on Firefox and IE 8 but not on Chrome.
