  • How to delete from table if count is greater than 20

    Hi, I have a mysql table that I need to only contain 20 newest records before adding additional records. New rows are added daily so I would like it first delete any records that are greater than the 20 allowed starting with the earliest. The table contains an auto increment "id" column so I can easily determine which is the earliest records. Thanks for any help.

    I have a timer set up and it gets called when ever the player is in their turn phase.     I'm still learning linq, now i'm getting confused. I need data for report from 3 tables, I get the result, but it's duplicate. I have used distinct but it's not working, n I need data to be sum still not working.     Users writing an article have the option to write some tags, tags are written like this: tag1, tag2, tag3 So tags are stored like: $tags = "tag1, tag2, tag3"; I want to make sure, every tag has a minimum of 3 characters, so i need to validate the tags. I have tried this: $tagsstring = explode(",", $tags); $tagslength = array_map('strlen', $tagsstring); if (min($tagslength) < 3) { echo "Error... Each tag has to be at least 3 characters."; } It seems to work, sometimes... But of you write: tag1, df It wont give an error. Any suggestions?

    I was playing around with Ruby and Latex to create a color coding set. I'm more than a novice with C++, but haven't looked at Ruby until now. So, still learning a lot of coding. I have the following block of code below. When attempting to run this, band1 = 1e+02. I've tried band1 = (BigDecimal(i) * 100).to_f thinking maybe there was some odd floating point issue. This is just me trying anything though as an integer multiplied by an integer should create an integer, if I'm still thinking correctly. I've tried a variety of other things as well (things that I can do in C++, but this ain't C++), but to no avail. (1..9).each do |i| #Band 1 (0..9).each do |j| #Band 2 (0..11).each do |k| #Band 3 #Band 3 Start #these are the colors of the resistor bands b1 = $c_band12[i] b2 = $c_band12[j] b3 = $c_band3[k] b4 = "Gold" oms = ((i*100) + (j*10)) * $mult[k] band1 = i*100 band2 = j band3 = $mult[k] end end end Not sure what I'm missing.     [I'm sure this is not odd at all, but I need just a bit of help] I have two retain properties @property (nonatomic, retain) NSArray *listContent; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSArray *filteredListContent; and in the viewDidLoad method I set the second equal to the first self.filteredListContent = self.listContent; and then on every search I do this self.filteredListContent = [listContent filteredArrayUsingPredicate:predicate]; I thought I should do a release right above this assignment -- since the property should cause an extra retain, right? -- but that causes the program to explode the second time I run the search method. The retain counts (without the extra release) are 2 the first time I come into the search method, and 1 each subsequent time (which is what I expected). Some guidance would help, thanks! Is it correct to not release?

    I have an application where I can list Items and add tags to each Item. The models Items and Tags are associated like this: class Item < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :taggings has_many :tags, :through => :taggings end class Tagging < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :item belongs_to :tag end class Tag < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :taggings has_many :items, :through => :taggings end So, this many-to-many relationship allows me to set n tags for each Item, and the same tag can be used several times. I'd like to list all tags ordered by the number of items associated with this tag. More used tags, shows first. Less used, last. How can I do that? Regards.

  • JavaScript Node.replaceChild() doesn't count new child's innerHtml

    While creating a Firefox addon, I've run into a weird problem. I have an array of nodes, returned by some iterator. Iterator returns only nodes, containing Node.TEXT_NODE as one or more of it's children. The script runs on page load. I have to find some text in that nodes by regexp and surround it with a SPAN tag. //beginning skipped var node = nodeList[i]; var node_html = node.innerHTML; var node_content = node.textContent; if(node_content.length > 1){ var new_str = "<SPAN class='bar'>" + foo + "</SPAN>"; var regexp = new RegExp( foo , 'g' ); node_html = node_html.replace(regexp, new_str); node.innerHTML = node_html; } Basic version looked like this, and it worked except one issue - node.innerHTML could contain attributes, event handlers, that could also contain foo, that should not be surrounded with <span> tags. So I decided to make replacements in text nodes only. But text nodes can't contain a HTML tag, so I had to wrap them with <div>. Like this: var node = nodeList[i]; for(var j=0; j<node.childNodes.length; j++){ var child = node.childNodes[j]; var child_content = child.textContent; if(child.nodeType == Node.TEXT_NODE && child_content.length >1){ var newChild = document.createElement('div'); // var newTextNode = document.createTextNode(child_content); // newChild.appendChild(newTextNode); var new_html = child_content; var new_str = "<SPAN class='bar'>" + foo + "</SPAN>"; var regexp = new RegExp( foo , 'g' ); new_html = new_html.replace(regexp, new_str); newChild.innerHTML = new_html; alert(newChild.innerHTML); node.replaceChild(newChild, child); } } In this case, alert(newChild.innerHTML); shows right html. But after the page is rendered, all <div>s created are empty! I'm puzzled. If I uncomment this code: // var newTextNode = document.createTextNode(child_content); // newChild.appendChild(newTextNode); alert also shows things right, and <div>s are filled with text (textNode adding works ok) , but again without <span>s. And another funny thing is that I can't highlight that new <div>s' content with a mouse in browser. Looks like it doesn't take new innerHTML into account, and I can't understand why. Do I do something wrong? (I certainly do, but what? Or, is that a FF bug/feature?)

  • Logic: Best way to sample & count bytes of a 100MB+ file

    Let's say I have this 170mb file (roughly 180 million bytes). What I need to do is to create a table that lists: all 4096 byte combinations found [column 'bytes'], and the number of times each byte combination appeared in it [column 'occurrences'] Assume two things: I can save data very fast, but I can update my saved data very slow. How should I sample the file and save the needed information? Here're some suggestions that are (extremely) slow: Go through each 4096 byte combinations in the file, save each data, but search the table first for existing combinations and update it's values. this is unbelievably slow Go through each 4096 byte combinations in the file, save until 1 million rows of data in a temporary table. Go through that table and fix the entries (combine repeating byte combinations), then copy to the big table. Repeat going through another 1 million rows of data and repeat the process. this is faster by a bit, but still unbelievably slow This is kind of like taking the statistics of the file. NOTE: I know that sampling the file can generate tons of data (around 22Gb from experience), and I know that any solution posted would take a bit of time to finish. I need the most efficient saving process

    We are developing an inventory tracking system. Basically we've got an order table in which orders are placed. When an order is payed, the status changes from 0 to 1. This table has multiple children in another table order_items. This is the main structure. CREATE TABLE order( id INT UNSIGNED AUTO_INCREMENT PRIMARY KEY, user_id INT UNSIGNED, status INT(1), total INT UNSIGNED ); CREATE TABLE order_items( id INT UNSIGNED AUTO_INCREMENT PRIMARY KEY, order_id INT UNSIGNED, article_id INT UNSIGNED, size enum('s', 'm', 'l', 'xl'), quantity INT UNSIGNED ); Now, we've got a stocks table with similar architecture for the acquisitions. This is the structure. CREATE TABLE stock( id INT UNSIGNED AUTO_INCREMENT PRIMARY KEY, article_id INT UNSIGNED ); CREATE TABLE stock_items( id INT UNSIGNED AUTO_INCREMENT PRIMARY KEY, stock_id INT UNSIGNED, size enum('s', 'm', 'l', 'xl'), quantity INT(2) ); The main difference is that stocks has no status field. What we are looking for is a way to sum each article size from stock_items, then sum each article size from order_items where Order.status = 1 and substract both these items to find our current inventory. This is the table we want to get from a single query: Size | Stocks | Sales | Available s | 10 | 3 | 7 m | 15 | 13 | 2 l | 7 | 4 | 3 Initially we thought abouth using complex find conditions, but perhaps that's the wrong approach. Also, since it's not a direct join, it turns out to be quite hard.
