  • Methodology to understanding JQuery plugin & API's developed by third parties

    - by Taoist
    I have a question about third party created JQuery plug ins and API's and the methodology for understanding them. Recently I downloaded the JQuery Masonry/Infinite scroll plug in and I couldn't figure out how to configure it based on the instructions. So I downloaded a fully developed demo, then manually deleted everything that wouldn't break the functionality. The code that was left allowed me to understand the plug in much greater detail than the documentation. I'm now having a similar issue with a plug in called JQuery knob. http://anthonyterrien.com/knob/ If you look at the JQuery Knob readme file it says this is working code: <input type="text" value="75" class="dial"> $(function() { $('.dial') .trigger( 'configure', { "min":10, "max":40, "fgColor":"#FF0000", "skin":"tron", "cursor":true } ); }); But as far as I can tell it isn't at all. The read me also says the Plug in uses Canvas. I am wondering if I am suppose to wrap this code in a canvas context or if this functionality is already part of the plug in. I know this kind of "question" might not fit in here but I'm a bit confused on the assumptions around reading these kinds of documentation and thought I would post the query regardless. Curious to see if this is due to my "newbi" programming experience or if this is something seasoned coders also fight with. Thank you. Edit In response to Tyanna's reply. I modified the code and it still doesn't work. I posted it below. I made sure that I checked the Google Console to insure the basics were taken care of, such as not getting a read-error on the library. <!DOCTYPE html> <meta charset="UTF-8"> <title>knob</title> <link rel="stylesheet" href="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.7.2/themes/hot-sneaks/jquery-ui.css" type="text/css" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.7.2/jquery.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.8.21/jquery-ui.min.js"></script> <script src="js/jquery.knob.js"></script> <div id="button1">test </div> <script> $(function() { $("#button1").click(function () { $('.dial').trigger( 'configure', { "min":10, "max":40, "fgColor":"#FF0000", "skin":"tron", "cursor":true } ); }); }); </script>

  • Floated DIVs not flowing properly

    - by NightMICU
    Hi everyone, I am working on a photo gallery, each thumbnail is in its own DIV and floated to the left in a containing DIV. It has been displaying properly up until vertical thumbnails entered the equation. Now, when the next row should start, the first item of the following row is to the left of the last vertical DIV (thumbnail), rather than flush to the left of the containing DIV. Here is the CSS: #galleryBox { width: 650px; background: #fff; margin: auto; padding: 10px; text-align: center; overflow: auto; } .item { display: block; margin: 10px; padding: 20px 5px 5px 5px; float: left; background: url('/images/content_bottom.png') repeat-x scroll bottom #828282; } and the HTML: <div id="galleryBox" class="ui-corner-all"> <div id="file" class="ui-corner-all"> <form name="uploadPhoto" id="uploadPhoto" method="post" action="" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <p><label for="photo">Photo:</label><input type="file" name="photo" id="photo"/></p> <p><label for="caption">Caption: <small>Optional</small></label><input type="text" id="caption" name="caption"/></p> <p align="center"><input type="submit" value="Upload" name="send" id="send" class="addButton ui-state-default ui-corner-all"/></p> </form> <a name="thumbs"></a> </div> <div class="item ui-corner-all"> <a href="http://tapp-essexvfd.org/gallery/photos/201004211802.jpg" class="lightbox" title="test1"> <img src="http://tapp-essexvfd.org/gallery/photos/thumbs/201004211802_thumb.jpg" alt="test1"/></a><br/> <p><span class="label">test1</span></p> </div> <div class="item ui-corner-all"> <a href="http://tapp-essexvfd.org/gallery/photos/201004211803.jpg" class="lightbox" title="test3"> <img src="http://tapp-essexvfd.org/gallery/photos/thumbs/201004211803_thumb.jpg" alt="test3"/></a><br/> <p><span class="label">test3</span></p> </div> </div>

  • Criticize my code, please

    - by Micky
    Hey, I was applying for a position, and they asked me to complete a coding problem for them. I did so and submitted it, but I later found out I was rejected from the position. Anyways, I have an eclectic programming background so I'm not sure if my code is grossly wrong or if I just didn't have the best solution out there. I would like to post my code and get some feedback about it. Before I do, here's a description of a problem: You are given a sorted array of integers, say, {1, 2, 4, 4, 5, 8, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 10, 10, 10, 11, 13 }. Now you are supposed to write a program (in C or C++, but I chose C) that prompts the user for an element to search for. The program will then search for the element. If it is found, then it should return the first index the entry was found at and the number of instances of that element. If the element is not found, then it should return "not found" or something similar. Here's a simple run of it (with the array I just put up): Enter a number to search for: 4 4 was found at index 2. There are 2 instances for 4 in the array. Enter a number to search for: -4. -4 is not in the array. They made a comment that my code should scale well with large arrays (so I wrote up a binary search). Anyways, my code basically runs as follows: Prompts user for input. Then it checks if it is within bounds (bigger than a[0] in the array and smaller than the largest element of the array). If so, then I perform a binary search. If the element is found, then I wrote two while loops. One while loop will count to the left of the element found, and the second while loop will count to the right of the element found. The loops terminate when the adjacent elements do not match with the desired value. EX: 4, 4, 4, 4, 4 The bold 4 is the value the binary search landed on. One loop will check to the left of it, and another loop will check to the right of it. Their sum will be the total number of instances of the the number four. Anyways, I don't know if there are any advanced techniques that I am missing or if I just don't have the CS background and made a big error. Any constructive critiques would be appreciated! #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> #include <stddef.h> /* function prototype */ int get_num_of_ints( const int* arr, size_t r, int N, size_t* first, size_t* count ); int main() { int N; /* input variable */ int arr[]={1,1,2,3,3,4,4,4,4,5,5,7,7,7,7,8,8,8,9,11,12,12}; /* array of sorted integers */ size_t r = sizeof(arr)/sizeof(arr[0]); /* right bound */ size_t first; /* first match index */ size_t count; /* total number of matches */ /* prompts the user to enter input */ printf( "\nPlease input the integer you would like to find.\n" ); scanf( "%d", &N ); int a = get_num_of_ints( arr, r, N, &first, &count ); /* If the function returns -1 then the value is not found. Else it is returned */ if( a == -1) printf( "%d has not been found.\n", N ); else if(a >= 0){ printf( "The first matching index is %d.\n", first ); printf( "The total number of instances is %d.\n", count ); } return 0; } /* function definition */ int get_num_of_ints( const int* arr, size_t r, int N, size_t* first, size_t* count ) { int lo=0; /* lower bound for search */ int m=0; /* middle value obtained */ int hi=r-1; /* upper bound for search */ int w=r-1; /* used as a fixed upper bound to calculate the number of right instances of a particular value. */ /* binary search to find if a value exists */ /* first check if the element is out of bounds */ if( N < arr[0] || arr[hi] < N ){ m = -1; } else{ /* binary search to find a value, if it exists, within given parameters */ while(lo <= hi){ m = (hi + lo)/2; if(arr[m] < N) lo = m+1; else if(arr[m] > N) hi = m-1; else if(arr[m]==N){ m=m; break; } } if (lo > hi) /* if it doesn't we assign it -1 */ m = -1; } /* If the value is found, then we compute the left and right instances of it */ if( m >= 0 ){ int j = m-1; /* starting with the first term to the left */ int L = 0; /* total number of left instances */ /* while loop computes total number of left instances */ while( j >= 0 && arr[j] == arr[m] ){ L++; j--; } /* There are six possible outcomes of this. Depending on the outcome, we must assign the first index variable accordingly */ if( j > 0 && L > 0 ) *first=j+1; else if( j==0 && L==0) *first=m; else if( j > 0 && L==0 ) *first=m; else if(j < 0 && L==0 ) *first=m; else if( j < 0 && L > 0 ) *first=0; else if( j=0 && L > 0 ) *first=j+1; int h = m + 1; /* starting with the first term to the right */ int R = 0; /* total number of right instances */ /* while loop computes total number of right instances */ /* we fixed w earlier so that it's value does not change */ while( arr[h]==arr[m] && h <= w ){ R++; h++; } *count = (R + L + 1); /* total number of instances stored as value of count */ return *first; /* first instance index stored here */ } /* if value does not exist, then we return a negative value */ else if( m==-1) return -1; }

  • Is it possible to pass a structure of delegates from managed to native?

    - by Veiva
    I am writing a wrapper for the game programming library "Allegro" and its less stable 4.9 branch. Now, I have done good insofar, except for when it comes to wrapping a structure of function pointers. Basically, I can't change the original code, despite having access to it, because that would require me to fork it in some manner. I need to know how I can somehow pass a structure of delegates from managed to native without causing an AccessViolationException that has occurred so far. Now, for the code. Here is the Allegro definition of the structure: typedef struct ALLEGRO_FILE_INTERFACE { AL_METHOD(ALLEGRO_FILE*, fi_fopen, (const char *path, const char *mode)); AL_METHOD(void, fi_fclose, (ALLEGRO_FILE *handle)); AL_METHOD(size_t, fi_fread, (ALLEGRO_FILE *f, void *ptr, size_t size)); AL_METHOD(size_t, fi_fwrite, (ALLEGRO_FILE *f, const void *ptr, size_t size)); AL_METHOD(bool, fi_fflush, (ALLEGRO_FILE *f)); AL_METHOD(int64_t, fi_ftell, (ALLEGRO_FILE *f)); AL_METHOD(bool, fi_fseek, (ALLEGRO_FILE *f, int64_t offset, int whence)); AL_METHOD(bool, fi_feof, (ALLEGRO_FILE *f)); AL_METHOD(bool, fi_ferror, (ALLEGRO_FILE *f)); AL_METHOD(int, fi_fungetc, (ALLEGRO_FILE *f, int c)); AL_METHOD(off_t, fi_fsize, (ALLEGRO_FILE *f)); } ALLEGRO_FILE_INTERFACE; My simple attempt at wrapping it: public delegate IntPtr AllegroInternalOpenFileDelegate(string path, string mode); public delegate void AllegroInternalCloseFileDelegate(IntPtr file); public delegate int AllegroInternalReadFileDelegate(IntPtr file, IntPtr data, int size); public delegate int AllegroInternalWriteFileDelegate(IntPtr file, IntPtr data, int size); public delegate bool AllegroInternalFlushFileDelegate(IntPtr file); public delegate long AllegroInternalTellFileDelegate(IntPtr file); public delegate bool AllegroInternalSeekFileDelegate(IntPtr file, long offset, int where); public delegate bool AllegroInternalIsEndOfFileDelegate(IntPtr file); public delegate bool AllegroInternalIsErrorFileDelegate(IntPtr file); public delegate int AllegroInternalUngetCharFileDelegate(IntPtr file, int c); public delegate long AllegroInternalFileSizeDelegate(IntPtr file); [StructLayout(LayoutKind.Sequential, Pack = 0)] public struct AllegroInternalFileInterface { [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.FunctionPtr)] public AllegroInternalOpenFileDelegate fi_fopen; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.FunctionPtr)] public AllegroInternalCloseFileDelegate fi_fclose; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.FunctionPtr)] public AllegroInternalReadFileDelegate fi_fread; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.FunctionPtr)] public AllegroInternalWriteFileDelegate fi_fwrite; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.FunctionPtr)] public AllegroInternalFlushFileDelegate fi_fflush; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.FunctionPtr)] public AllegroInternalTellFileDelegate fi_ftell; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.FunctionPtr)] public AllegroInternalSeekFileDelegate fi_fseek; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.FunctionPtr)] public AllegroInternalIsEndOfFileDelegate fi_feof; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.FunctionPtr)] public AllegroInternalIsErrorFileDelegate fi_ferror; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.FunctionPtr)] public AllegroInternalUngetCharFileDelegate fi_fungetc; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.FunctionPtr)] public AllegroInternalFileSizeDelegate fi_fsize; } I have a simple auxiliary wrapper that turns an ALLEGRO_FILE_INTERFACE into an ALLEGRO_FILE, like so: #define ALLEGRO_NO_MAGIC_MAIN #include <allegro5/allegro5.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> #include <assert.h> __declspec(dllexport) ALLEGRO_FILE * al_aux_create_file(ALLEGRO_FILE_INTERFACE * fi) { ALLEGRO_FILE * file; assert(fi && "`fi' null"); file = (ALLEGRO_FILE *)malloc(sizeof(ALLEGRO_FILE)); if (!file) return NULL; file->vtable = (ALLEGRO_FILE_INTERFACE *)malloc(sizeof(ALLEGRO_FILE_INTERFACE)); if (!(file->vtable)) { free(file); return NULL; } memcpy(file->vtable, fi, sizeof(ALLEGRO_FILE_INTERFACE)); return file; } __declspec(dllexport) void al_aux_destroy_file(ALLEGRO_FILE * f) { assert(f && "`f' null"); assert(f->vtable && "`f->vtable' null"); free(f->vtable); free(f); } Lastly, I have a class that accepts a Stream and provides the proper methods to interact with the stream. Just to make sure, here it is: /// <summary> /// A semi-opaque data type that allows one to load fonts, etc from a stream. /// </summary> public class AllegroFile : AllegroResource, IDisposable { AllegroInternalFileInterface fileInterface; Stream fileStream; /// <summary> /// Gets the file interface. /// </summary> internal AllegroInternalFileInterface FileInterface { get { return fileInterface; } } /// <summary> /// Constructs an Allegro file from the stream provided. /// </summary> /// <param name="stream">The stream to use.</param> public AllegroFile(Stream stream) { fileStream = stream; fileInterface = new AllegroInternalFileInterface(); fileInterface.fi_fopen = Open; fileInterface.fi_fclose = Close; fileInterface.fi_fread = Read; fileInterface.fi_fwrite = Write; fileInterface.fi_fflush = Flush; fileInterface.fi_ftell = GetPosition; fileInterface.fi_fseek = Seek; fileInterface.fi_feof = GetIsEndOfFile; fileInterface.fi_ferror = GetIsError; fileInterface.fi_fungetc = UngetCharacter; fileInterface.fi_fsize = GetLength; Resource = AllegroFunctions.al_aux_create_file(ref fileInterface); if (!IsValid) throw new AllegroException("Unable to create file"); } /// <summary> /// Disposes of all resources. /// </summary> ~AllegroFile() { Dispose(); } /// <summary> /// Disposes of all resources used. /// </summary> public void Dispose() { if (IsValid) { Resource = IntPtr.Zero; // Should call AllegroFunctions.al_aux_destroy_file fileStream.Dispose(); } } IntPtr Open(string path, string mode) { return IntPtr.Zero; } void Close(IntPtr file) { fileStream.Close(); } int Read(IntPtr file, IntPtr data, int size) { byte[] d = new byte[size]; int read = fileStream.Read(d, 0, size); Marshal.Copy(d, 0, data, size); return read; } int Write(IntPtr file, IntPtr data, int size) { byte[] d = new byte[size]; Marshal.Copy(data, d, 0, size); fileStream.Write(d, 0, size); return size; } bool Flush(IntPtr file) { fileStream.Flush(); return true; } long GetPosition(IntPtr file) { return fileStream.Position; } bool Seek(IntPtr file, long offset, int whence) { SeekOrigin origin = SeekOrigin.Begin; if (whence == 1) origin = SeekOrigin.Current; else if (whence == 2) origin = SeekOrigin.End; fileStream.Seek(offset, origin); return true; } bool GetIsEndOfFile(IntPtr file) { return fileStream.Position == fileStream.Length; } bool GetIsError(IntPtr file) { return false; } int UngetCharacter(IntPtr file, int character) { return -1; } long GetLength(IntPtr file) { return fileStream.Length; } } Now, when I do something like this: AllegroFile file = new AllegroFile(new FileStream("Test.bmp", FileMode.Create, FileAccess.ReadWrite)); bitmap.SaveToFile(file, ".bmp"); ...I get an AccessViolationException. I think I understand why (the garbage collector can relocate structs and classes whenever), but I'd think that the method stub that is created by the framework would take this into consideration and route the calls to the valid classes. However, it seems obviously so that I'm wrong. So basically, is there any way I can successfully wrap that structure? (And I'm sorry for all the code! Hope it's not too much...)

  • Changing Data in ListView

    - by legr3c
    Hi In my app I use a ListView to display data from the database. The data changes sometimes, for example when the user applies new filters or changes the sorting method. I use AsyncTask to get the databsase cursor that points to the new data set because sometimes data needs to be loaded from the net which can take some time. What I do now looks something like this: private class updateTask extends AsyncTask<Void, Void, Void> { /* * runs on the UI thread before doInBackground */ @Override protected void onPreExecute(){ // prepare some stuff... } /* * runs in a separate thread * used for time-consuming loading operation */ @Override protected Void doInBackground() { //get new database cursor mCursor = mDbAdapter.getCursor(); return null; } /* * runs on the UI thread after doInBackground */ @Override protected void onPostExecute(Void result){ if(mCursor!=null){ MyActivity.this.startManagingCursor(mCursor); mCursorAdapter = new MyCustomCursorAdapter(MyActivity.this, mCursor); mListView.setAdapter(mCursorAdapter); } } } This works so far but I realize that creating a new CursorAdapter and calling setAdapter on my ListView each time isn't the correct way to do it. Also, after setAdapter the scroll position of the list is set back to the top. I found this post which describes how to do it properly. So now I want to do something like this: onCreate(){ // ... // create the CursorAdapter using null as the initial cursor MyCustomCursorAdapter cursorAdapter = new MyCustomCursorAdapter(this, null); mListView.setAdapter(cursorAdapter); // ... } private class updateTask extends AsyncTask<Void, Void, Void> { /* * runs on the UI thread before doInBackground */ @Override protected void onPreExecute(){ // prepare some stuff... } /* * runs in a separate thread * used for time-consuming loading operation */ @Override protected Void doInBackground() { //get new database cursor mCursor = mDbAdapter.getCursor(); return null; } /* * runs on the UI thread after doInBackground */ @Override protected void onPostExecute(Void result){ // this returns null! MyCustomCursorAdapter cursorAdapter = (MyCustomCursorAdapter)mListView.getAdapter(); Cursor oldCursor = cursorAdapter.getCursor(); if(oldCursor!=null){ MyActivity.this.stopManagingCursor(oldCursor); oldCursor.close(); } if(mCursor!=null){ MyActivity.this.startManagingCursor(mCursor); cursorAdapter.changeCursor(mCursor); } } } This however doesn't work for me because (MyCustomCursorAdapter)mListView.getAdapter(); always returns null. Why does this happen? What am I doing wrong? Edit: Some additional information: my adapter implements SectionIndexer. I don't really think that this has anything to do with my problem but it has caused me some troubles before so I thought I'd mention it.

  • extra white line under li items that have no border

    - by isabel018
    I have a problem with extra white lines showing up under my list items. It's not a border as I haven't set any borders, except the one under My Account, it's just to show that the white line is not a border. The one under it is -- a 4px border the same color as the background. This problem occurred after I had resolved a conflict between my Nivo Slider and the Woocommerce plugin on my WP site. I got both of them to work together, but then this other issue with the list cropped up. Any ideas as to what caused this and how to fix it? Here's my CSS if that helps: #header #navigation ul.nav > li.current_page_item > a { color: #D4145A;} #header #navigation ul.nav > li:hover a { border-width: 0px 0px 4px; border-style: none none solid; border-color: -moz-use-text-color -moz-use-text-color rgb(212, 20, 90); -moz-border-top-colors: none; -moz-border-right-colors: none; -moz-border-bottom-colors: none; -moz-border-left-colors: none; border-image: none; background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(212, 20, 90);} and the HTML for it too: <nav id="navigation" class="col-full parent" role="navigation"> <ul id="main-nav" class="nav fl parent"> <li class="page_item"></li> <li class="page_item page-item-11"></li> <li class="page_item page-item-12"></li> <li class="page_item page-item-13 parent"></li> <li class="page_item page-item-15 current_page_item parent"> <a href=""></a> <ul class="children"></ul></li> </ul> </nav> Help please! I'm at my wits' end! Thanks!

  • buttons inside scrollviewer problem

    - by Miroslav Valchev
    Hello, everyone. I couldn't find a solution to my problem eventhough I believe that others have come across this too. Basically, there are like twenty buttons in a wrap panel, which is inside a scrollviewer. The problem is that when I want to scroll the list, the click event fires the triggers. Really would appreciate help on this one. <ScrollViewer> <ScrollViewer.Content> <toolkit:WrapPanel Orientation="Horizontal" HorizontalAlignment="Left" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="420"> <Button Style="{StaticResource imageButtonStyle}" > <i:Interaction.Triggers> <i:EventTrigger EventName="Click"> <cmd2:EventToCommand Command="{Binding SelectCommand, Mode=OneWay}" CommandParameterValue="1" /> </i:EventTrigger> </i:Interaction.Triggers> </Button> <Button Style="{StaticResource imageButtonStyle}"> <i:Interaction.Triggers> <i:EventTrigger EventName="Click"> <cmd2:EventToCommand Command="{Binding SelectCommand, Mode=OneWay}" CommandParameterValue="2" /> </i:EventTrigger> </i:Interaction.Triggers> </Button> <Button Style="{StaticResource imageButtonStyle}"> <i:Interaction.Triggers> <i:EventTrigger EventName="MouseEnter"> <cmd2:EventToCommand Command="{Binding SelectCommand, Mode=OneWay}" CommandParameterValue="3" /> </i:EventTrigger> </i:Interaction.Triggers> </Button> <Button Style="{StaticResource imageButtonStyle}"> <i:Interaction.Triggers> <i:EventTrigger EventName="MouseEnter"> <cmd2:EventToCommand Command="{Binding SelectCommand, Mode=OneWay}" CommandParameterValue="4" /> </i:EventTrigger> </i:Interaction.Triggers> </Button> </toolkit:WrapPanel> </ScrollViewer.Content>

  • HTML table ignoring element-style width

    - by sangil
    HTML table ignoring element-style width I have an HTML table where certain cells have very long text contents. I want to specify a width (in pixels) for these cells using jQuery, but the rendered table just ignores the given width. Is there any way to force the table to respect this width? Thanks! JSFiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/sangil/6hejy/35/ (If you inspect the cell you can see the the computed width is different than the element-style width) HTML: <div id="tblcont" class="tblcont"> <table id="pivot_table"> <tbody> <tr> <th id="h0" >product</th> <th id="h1" >price</th> <th id="h2" >change</th> </tr> <tr> <!-- this is the cell causing trouble --> <td id="c00" >Acer 2400 aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa</td> <td id="c01" >3212</td> <td id="c02" >219</td> </tr> <tr> <td id="c10" >Acer</td> <td id="c11" >3821</td> <td id="c12" >206</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </div> CSS: .tblcont { overflow: hidden; width: 500px; } table { table-layout: fixed; border-collapse: collapse; overflow-x: scroll; border-spacing:0; width: 100%; } th, td { overflow: hidden; text-overflow: ellipsis; word-wrap: break-word; } th { height: 50px; } ?Javascript: $(document).ready(function() { // THIS LINE HAS NO EFFECT! $('#c00').width(30); });

  • Layout issue regarding a JQuery smoothDivScroll

    - by MichaelMcCabe
    Hi all. I have been scratching my head for a while on this one. I dont really play around with HTML formatting that often. I have a smoothDivScroll using JQuery (http://maaki.com/thomas/SmoothDivScroll/) to scroll through dynamically generated images. What I want it for, is to have multiple small images lined up right next to each other, and each image has a section of writting underneath. about 25 images, 140px width each in a 7560px span. I acheived this great by putting a table inside the div, and each image inside a<td>.This works problem i have, is that i need the slider to start from the furthest RIGHT image, and slide automatically left. This is acheived by (if you look at the link above) - startAtElementId: But if I am using a table inside the div, it is taking the TABLE as a element and not the TD... so it doesnt work. I know this because if I change every image to be inside tables (i.e 25 tables), it works... but obviously then the formatting is not how I want. Can anyone think of a way I can use this slider (modifications to the js code or not), with 25 images that NEED to be right next to each other, no gap. I guess this is more of a formatting question, than about the slider. Because I only know ONE way of doing what I want, and thats to have below which will not alow me to set startAtElementId. <div class="scrollableArea"> <table width="7560px" class="index-body"> <tr> <td width="140px"><center><a onclick="__doPostBack('getEarlierDate');" ><img src="../images/olderGraphs.gif" width="140" height="60"></a>Click for more</center></td> <td width="300px"><center><a onclick="__doPostBack('chartClicked25');" ><cewolf:img chartid="verticalbar25" renderer="cewolf" width="300" height="60"/></a><c:out value="${date25}"/></center></td> <td width="300px"><center><a onclick="__doPostBack('chartClicked24');" ><cewolf:img chartid="verticalbar24" renderer="cewolf" width="300" height="60"/></a><c:out value="${date24}"/></center></td> and so on

  • How can a button click method find out which item is selected in a ListView?

    - by Ian Bayley
    I have a single screen with a bank of buttons below a ListView. Entries on the ListView light up in orange when I scroll so I assume that are selected. When I then press the "Delete" button I want the onClickListener to remove the currently selected entry. But getSelectedItemPosition() always gives me -1. If I can't hope to use the GUI controls in this way, please give me another way of getting the same result. I have even tried setting the onClickListener of the List View to store the index before the button is pressed (in case pressing the button unselects the entry) but even that is always -1 it seems. Here's the code (without the modification which didn't work) package com.bayley; import android.app.Activity; import android.os.Bundle; import android.view.View; import android.widget.ArrayAdapter; import android.widget.Button; import android.widget.EditText; import android.widget.ListView; import java.util.ArrayList; /** * * @author p0074564 */ public class September extends Activity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle icicle) { super.onCreate(icicle); setContentView(R.layout.main); final ListView myListView = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.myListView); Button addButton = (Button) findViewById(R.id.AddButton); Button deleteButton = (Button) findViewById(R.id.DeleteButton); final EditText editText = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.myEditText); final ArrayList<String> todoItems = new ArrayList<String>(); todoItems.add("Monday"); todoItems.add("Tuesday"); todoItems.add("Wednesday"); final ArrayAdapter<String> aa = new ArrayAdapter<String>(this, android.R.layout.simple_list_item_1, todoItems); myListView.setAdapter(aa); addButton.setOnClickListener(new Button.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { todoItems.add(editText.getText().toString()); aa.notifyDataSetChanged(); } }); deleteButton.setOnClickListener(new Button.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { // always returns -1 unfortunately ie nothing is ever selected int index = myListView.getSelectedItemPosition(); if (index >= 0) { todoItems.remove(index); } aa.notifyDataSetChanged(); } }); } }

  • jQuery action being called when selector isn't met?

    - by dougoftheabaci
    I've been working on a prototype for a client's web site and I've run into a rather significant snag. You can view the prototype here. As you can see, the way it works is you can scroll a set of slides horizontally and, by clicking one, open a stack containing yet more slides. If you then click again on an image in that stack it opens up a lightbox. Clicking on another stack or the close button will close that stack (and open another, as case may be). That all works great. However you get some weird behavior if you do the following: Click to open any stack. Click to open an image's light box (this works best if you click on the image that's level with the main list). Close the light box and the stack either by clicking the close button or clicking on another stack. Click back to the first stack. Instead of reopening the stack, you get the lightbox. This confuses me as the light box should only ever be called if there is a class on the containing UL and that class is removed when the lightbox is closed. I've checked and double-checked this, it's definitely missing. Here are the respective functions: $("ul.hide a.lightbox").live("click",function(){ $("ul.show").removeClass("show").addClass("hide"); $(this).parent().parent().removeClass("hide").addClass("show"); $("ul.hide").animate({opacity: 0.2}); $("ul.show").animate({opacity: 1}); $("#next").animate({opacity: 0.2}); $("#prev").animate({opacity: 0.2}); return false; }); $("ul.show a.lightbox").live("click",function(){ $(this).fancybox().trigger("click"); return false; }); As you can see, in order for the lightbox to be called the containing UL has to have the class of show. However, if you check it with Firebug it won't. For those who are curious, the added .trigger("click"); is because the lightbox will require a double-click to launch otherwise. Any idea how I can fix this?

  • ScrollTo and toggle div

    - by user1466260
    I'm a big fan ov 8020.com and my goal is to create a porfolio with the same functionality like the one they have. Here is my markup This section should be hidden <section id="work-container"> <div id="work-list-51" class="work-details"> <h1> <div class="close-project"> </div> <div id="work-list-52" class="work-details"> <h1> <div class="close-project"> </div> <div id="work-list-53" class="work-details"> <h1> <div class="close-project"> </div> </section> This section will hold the thumbnails. When you click a thumbnail you will scroll to the top and the div will slidetoggle. <ul id="work-list"> <li id="work-list-51"><a data-page="51" href="#work-list-51"> <img width="230" height="230" alt="Mariann Rosa" src="sites/default/files/styles/square_thumbnail/public/field/image/mariann.jpg"> </a></li> <li id="work-list-52"><a data-page="52" href="#work-list-52"> <img width="230" height="230" alt="Mariann Rosa" src="sites/default/files/styles/square_thumbnail/public/field/image/mariann.jpg"> </a></li> <li id="work-list-53"><a data-page="53" href="#work-list-53"> <img width="230" height="230" alt="Mariann Rosa" src="sites/default/files/styles/square_thumbnail/public/field/image/mariann.jpg"> </a></li> </ul> I have come this far: $(document).ready(function(){ $("#work-list a").click(function(event){ event.preventDefault(); $('html, body').animate ( {scrollTop: $('#top').offset().top}, 800 ); }); $('#work-list a').click(function(e) { $('#work-container > div').hide(); $(this.hash).slideToggle(1600); }); }); It scrolls to top and the div becomes visible but it does not work correctly :)

  • Android browser touch events stop display being updated inc. canvas/elements - How to work around?

    - by Ed Kirk
    On some android's native browser touching the page seems to stop the display from being updated until the finger is released. This occurs for both html element based animation (switching classes) and for canvas based animation. It does not however stop normal js execution and other events are fired as normal. On devices with this problem the dolphin browser also seems effected (not firefox though). Touchstart/move both have preventDefault() fired as well as stopPropergation(), cancelBubble = true; and e.returnValue = false;. In the CSS webkit selection has also been disabled. The page will not scroll. A similar question has been asked here: Does Android browser lock DOM on touchStart? but I'd like to find out if this behaviour can be overcome, or at least to discover what devices will be effected by the problem, is it a device or version android issue? If you cannot answer the question running the demo and reporting your experience along with your device model and useragent (displayed at bottom of demo page) as a comment might help others or myself answer the question. Here is a demo and steps to reproduce the behaviour. A QR code for the link can be found here https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/canvas-test-pd/tmp.png. https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/canvas-test-pd/index.html The web page has a canvas at the top and a div with a background image at the bottom. Every second the canvas is cleared and a different image displayed and the div has it's class switched (both toggle between 0 and 1 pngs). Once this has toggled a few times place your finger on the canvas (the top grey box) and hold it there. Wait to see if the animation continues (sometimes it will once or twice then stops) and if there are any visual distortions. Update It seems that the Galaxy Tab running 3.2 requires handlers for touchstart/end of document, not just required divs for the screen to continue updating the display. Thanks jimpic. I'm starting to believe it's an issue caused by manufacturers skins, although this is difficult to prove.

  • scrollTo (jQuery) won't work in firefox

    - by William
    For some reason, firefox seems to ignore my scrollTo function even though it works in chrome and safari. Here's an example link: http://blog.rainbird.me/post/2358248459/blowholes-are-awesome Chrome and Safari will automatically scroll to the top of the image (with an offset of 20 pixels) It doesn't work in firefox. I'm baffled! code: $(document).ready(function() { $(".photoShell img").lazyload({ placeholder: "http://william.rainbird.me/boston-polaroid/white.gif", threshold: 200 }); window.viewport = { height: function() { return $(window).height(); }, width: function() { return $(window).width(); }, scrollTop: function() { return $(window).scrollTop(); }, scrollLeft: function() { return $(window).scrollLeft(); } }; $(".photoShell img").hide(); $(".photoShell .caption").hide(); $(".photoShell img").load(function() { var maxWidth = viewport.width() - 40; // Max width for the image if(maxWidth > 960){ maxWidth = 960; } var maxHeight = viewport.height() - 50; // Max height for the image var ratio = 0; // Used for aspect ratio var width = $(this).width(); // Current image width var height = $(this).height(); // Current image height // Check if the current width is larger than the max if(width > maxWidth){ ratio = maxWidth / width; // get ratio for scaling image $(this).css("width", maxWidth); // Set new width $(this).css("height", height * ratio); // Scale height based on ratio height = height * ratio; // Reset height to match scaled image width = width * ratio; // Reset width to match scaled image } // Check if current height is larger than max if(height > maxHeight){ ratio = maxHeight / height; // get ratio for scaling image $(this).css("height", maxHeight); // Set new height $(this).css("width", width * ratio); // Scale width based on ratio width = width * ratio; // Reset width to match scaled image } $(this).parents('div.photoShell').css("width", $(this).width() + 22); $(this).parents('div.photoShell').addClass('loaded'); $(this).next(".caption").show(); var scrollNum = $(this).parents('div.photoShell').offset().top; $.scrollTo(scrollNum - 20, {duration: 700, axis:"y"}); $(this).fadeIn("slow"); }).each(function() { // trigger the load event in case the image has been cached by the browser if(this.complete) $(this).trigger('load'); });

  • Need Help Figuring Out Why Text Is Overflowing My Page

    - by Brian
    Like the title says, I am having issues with a VERY long string overflowing my page. I tried some overflow techniques, but none seem to work. I had previously posted this as a Primefaces problem, but have since learned that it is not a Primefaces issue. Anyway, if anybody has any suggestions on how I can fix this, I would appreciate it. I will post my HTML below so you can see what I am talking about. Thanks for taking the time to read, and have a great day. :-) <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <title> problem </title> <style type="text/css"> span.troubleSpan { overflow: scroll; } </style> </head> <body> <h4> problem </h4> <div> <table border="1"> <tr> <td> <span>cell</span> </td> <td> <span>&nbsp;</span> </td> <td> <span>cell</span> </td> <td> <span class="troubleSpan">asdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdf</span> </td> <td> <span>&nbsp;</span> </td> </tr> </table> </div> </body> </html>

  • Save/Load jFreechart TimeSeriesCollection chart from XML

    I'm working with this exemple wich put rondom dynamic data into a TimeSeriesCollection chart. My problem is that i can't find how to : 1- Make a track of the old data (of the last hour) when they pass the left boundary (because the data point move from the right to the left ) of the view area just by implementing a horizontal scroll bar. 2- Is XML a good choice to save my data into when i want to have all the history of the data? public class DynamicDataDemo extends ApplicationFrame { /** The time series data. */ private TimeSeries series; /** The most recent value added. */ private double lastValue = 100.0; public DynamicDataDemo(final String title) { super(title); this.series = new TimeSeries("Random Data", Millisecond.class); final TimeSeriesCollection dataset = new TimeSeriesCollection(this.series); final JFreeChart chart = createChart(dataset); final ChartPanel chartPanel = new ChartPanel(chart); final JPanel content = new JPanel(new BorderLayout()); content.add(chartPanel); chartPanel.setPreferredSize(new java.awt.Dimension(500, 270)); setContentPane(content); } private JFreeChart createChart(final XYDataset dataset) { final JFreeChart result = ChartFactory.createTimeSeriesChart( "Dynamic Data Demo", "Time", "Value", dataset, true, true, false ); final XYPlot plot = result.getXYPlot(); ValueAxis axis = plot.getDomainAxis(); axis.setAutoRange(true); axis.setFixedAutoRange(60000.0); // 60 seconds axis = plot.getRangeAxis(); axis.setRange(0.0, 200.0); return result; } public void go() { final double factor = 0.90 + 0.2 * Math.random(); this.lastValue = this.lastValue * factor; final Millisecond now = new Millisecond(); System.out.println("Now = " + now.toString()); this.series.add(new Millisecond(), this.lastValue); } public static void main(final String[] args) throws InterruptedException { final DynamicDataDemo demo = new DynamicDataDemo("Dynamic Data Demo"); demo.pack(); RefineryUtilities.centerFrameOnScreen(demo); demo.setVisible(true); while(true){ demo.go(); Thread.currentThread().sleep(1000); } } }

  • sub menu border calls onmouseout event

    - by insanepaul
    I've created a simple menu and submenu with tags(not allowed to use ul elements). To access the submenu the user hovers their mouse over the menu item. I use the onmouseover and onmouseout events to either show or hide the sub menu depending on which item is selected. A pipe (|) is used to seperate each submenu item and this is what is causing me problems. When a user hovers their mouse above the pipe character the subMenu div calls the onmouseout event which is not what I want. So I added padding around the pipe character and a minus margin so that there were no gaps between the pipe character and the other elements. This worked for all browsers including IE8. But in IE7 (I haven't tested IE6 yet) the submenu div calls the onmouseout event when I touch the top bit of either the left or right border of the pipe character span element. <div id="subMenu" onmouseout="hideSubMenu()" > <div id="opinionSubMenu" onmouseover="showOpinionSubMenu()"> <a id="Blogs" href="HTMLNew.htm">BLOGS</a> <span class="SubMenuDelimiter">|</span> <a id="Comments" href="HTMLNew.htm">COMMENTS</a> <span class="SubMenuDelimiter">|</span> <a id="Views" href="HTMLNew.htm">VIEWS</a> </div> <div id="learningSubMenu" onmouseover="showLearningSubMenu()"> <a id="Articles" href="HTMLNew.htm">ARTICLES</a> <span class="SubMenuDelimiter">|</span> <a id="CoursesCases" href="HTMLNew.htm">COURSES & CASES</a> <span class="SubMenuDelimiter">|</span> <a id="PracticeImpact" href="HTMLNew.htm">PRACTICE IMPACT</a> </div> </div> This is my css class #subMenu{ padding:10px 0px; background-color:#F58F2D; font-weight:normal; text-decoration:none; font-family:Lucida Sans Unicode; font-size:14px; float:left; width:100%; display:none;} #Blogs, #Comments, #Views, #Articles { padding:10px 5px; background:none repeat scroll 0 0 transparent; color:#000000; font-weight:normal; text-decoration:none; border:solid 1px black;} #Blogs:hover, #Comments:hover, #Views:hover, #Articles:hover{ color:#ffffff; text-decoration:none;} .SubMenuDelimiter{ padding:10px 5px; margin:10px -5px;}

  • JList with JScrollPane and prototype cell value wraps element names (replaces with dots instead of s

    - by Tom
    I've got a Jlist inside a JScrollPane and I've set a prototype value so that it doesn't have to calculate the width for big lists, but just uses this default width. Now, the problem is that the Jlist is for some reason replacing the end of an element with dots (...) so that a horizontal scrollbar will never be shown. How do I disable with "wrapping"? So that long elements are not being replaced with dots if they are wider than the Jlist's width? I've reproduced the issue in a small example application. Please run it if you don't understand what I mean: import javax.swing.*; import java.awt.*; public class Test { //window private static final int windowWidth = 450; private static final int windowHeight = 500; //components private JFrame frame; private JList classesList; private DefaultListModel classesListModel; public Test() { load(); } private void load() { //create window frame = new JFrame("Test"); frame.setSize(windowWidth, windowHeight); frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); frame.setUndecorated(true); frame.getRootPane().setWindowDecorationStyle(JRootPane.PLAIN_DIALOG); //classes list classesListModel = new DefaultListModel(); classesList = new JList(classesListModel); classesList.setPrototypeCellValue("prototype value"); classesList.setSelectionMode(ListSelectionModel.SINGLE_SELECTION); classesList.setVisibleRowCount(20); JScrollPane scrollClasses = new JScrollPane(classesList, JScrollPane.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_AS_NEEDED, JScrollPane.HORIZONTAL_SCROLLBAR_AS_NEEDED); for (int i = 0; i < 200; i++) { classesListModel.addElement("this is a long string, does not fit in width"); } //panel JPanel drawingArea = new JPanel(); drawingArea.setBackground(Color.white); drawingArea.add(scrollClasses); frame.add(drawingArea); //set visible frame.setVisible(true); } } Even if you force horizontal scrollbar, you still won't be able to scroll because the element is actually not wider than the width because of the dot (...) wrapping. Thanks in advance.

  • Browsers (IE and Firefox) freeze when copying large amount of text

    - by Matt
    I have a web application - a Java servlet - that delivers data to users in the form of a text printout in a browser (text marked up with HTML in order to display in the browser as we want it to). The text does display in different colors, though most of it is black. One typical mode of operation is this: 1. User submits a form to request data. 2. Servlet delivers HTML file to browser. 3. User does CTRL+A to select all the text. 4. User does CTRL+C to copy all the text. 5. User goes to a text editor and does CTRL+V to paste the text. In the testing where I'm having this problem, step #2 successfully loads all the data - we wait for that to complete. We can scroll down to the end of what the browser loaded and see the end of the data. However, the browser freezes on step #3 (Firefox) or on step #4 (IE). Because step #2 finishes, I think it is a browser/memory issue, and not an issue with the web application. If I run queries to deliver smaller amounts of data (but after several queries we get the same data we would have above in one query) and copy/paste this text, the file I save it into ends up being about 8 MB. If I save the browser's displayed HTML to a file on my computer via File-Save As from the browser menu, it works fine and the file is about 22 MB. We've tried this on 2 different computers at work (both running Windows XP, with at least 2 GB of RAM and many GB of free disk space), using Firefox and IE. We also tried it on a home computer from a home network outside of work (thinking it might be our IT security software causing the problem), running Windows 7 using IE, and still had the problem. When I've done this, I can see whatever browser I'm using utilizing the CPU at 50%. Firefox's memory usage grows to about 1 GB; IE's stays in the several hundred MBs. We once let this run for half an hour, and it did not complete. I'm most likely going to modify the web app to have an option of delivering a plain text file for download, and I imagine that will get the users what they need. But for the mean time, and because I'm curious - and I don't like my application freezing people's browsers, does anyone have any ideas about the browser freezing? I understand that sometimes you just reach your memory limit, but 22 MB sounds to me like an amount I should be able to copy to the clipboard.

  • Trying to add data to sql from link click and return results via jquery or ajax

    - by Jay Schires
    I am not familiar with jquery or ajax, but i do know it is whats needed to perform the action I want. I have created a wordpress plugin that updates a database table based on the users click. Right now it refreshes the page to return the results, but I want to stop the page refresh and return data via ajax I believe. If anyone is interested in helping me figure this out I would be very appreciative or even willing to pay. Thanks! Here is the plugin code: function BoardLikeItGetDelim($postid) { global $wp_rewrite; if($wp_rewrite->using_permalinks()) { if(isset($_GET['mbpost'])) return "?mbpost=".$postid."&"; return "?"; } else { if(isset($_GET['mbpost'])) return "&mbpost=".$postid."&"; return "&"; } } function AddBoardLikeItButton($postid) { global $user_ID; if(isset($_GET['board-like-it-action']) && $_GET['board-like-it-action'] == "like" && $_GET['bpid'] == $postid) BoardLikeItLike($user_ID, $_GET['bpid']); if(isset($_GET['board-like-it-action']) && $_GET['board-like-it-action'] == "unlike" && $_GET['bpid'] == $postid) BoardLikeItUnLike($user_ID, $_GET['bpid']); $num_likes = BoardLikeItGetNumLikes($postid); if(!BoardLikeItIsLiked($user_ID, $postid)) echo "<HREF LINK='".BoardLikeItGetDelim($postid)."board-like-it-action=like&bpid=".$postid."#mngl-board-post-message-".$postid."'>Like</a> ".$num_likes."" . • jQuery image loop not displaying any images

    - by user1871097
    I'm trying to create a very basic image gallery in jQuery. The goal is to have 3 images fade in and out in a sequential order. So image 1 is displayed, fades to image 2 etc. then the whole thing loops again. My HTML code so far is as follows: <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Slider</title> <style type="text/css"> .slider{ width: 2848px; height: 2136px; overflow: hidden; margin: 30px auto; } .slider img{ width:2848px; height:2136px; display:none; } </style> <script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.8.3/jquery.min.js"></script> <script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.9.2/jquery-ui.min.js"></script> <script src="Slider2.js"></script> </head> <body onload="Slider2"();> <div class="slider"> <img id="1" src="31.jpg" border="0" alt="city"/> <img id="2" src="2vrtigo2.jpg" border="0" alt="roof"/> <img id="3" src="3.jpg" border="0" alt="sea"/> </div> </body> And the jQuery code looks like this: function Slider2() { var total = $(".slider img").size(); for (i=1; i<=total; i+=1) { $(".slider #"+i).fadeIn(600); $(".slider #"+i).delay(2000).hide; }} A quick syntactical note, I've also tried using i++ in the last argument of the For Loop. The result of this code is a blank, white page. I know some of the HTML is being compiled because the enormous 2848x2136 div creates scroll bars on the browser. If anyone could help me out, that would be greatly appreciated. Obviously I'm relatively new to web programming and would love some insight into why this isn't working. Thanks!
