  • Batch file writing to log then ending process

    I have a batch file that calls a process and in that process I have: IF %ERRORLEVEL% NEQ 0 EXIT /B %ERRORLEVEL% Now I wanted to upgrade this a bit and give some meaningful message to an output log when if the process fails, also I do not want the main batch to continue processing because the next processes are dependent on data from previous calls; I wonder if this would be correct but not sure: CALL Process 1 IF %ERRORLEVEL% NEQ 0 GOTO ErrorInfirstProcess /B %ERRORLEVEL% :ErrorInfirstProcess ECHO Process 1 Failed on %Date% at %Time%. >>C:\Log.txt" CALL Process 2 IF %ERRORLEVEL% NEQ 0 GOTO ErrorInSecondProcess /B %ERRORLEVEL% :ErrorInSecondProcess ECHO Process 2 Failed on %Date% at %Time%. >>C:\Log.txt" I also want to know if I still need the /B or do I need to put an EXIT command after the echo?   • Python .app doesn't read .txt file like it should

    This question relates to this one: Python app which reads and writes into its current working directory as a .app/exe i got the path to the .txt file fine however now when i try to open it and read the contents it seems that it doesn't extract the data properly.   • Live Mesh has screwed up my file permissions

    I got the bright idea of using Live Mesh to sync up my development directories between my laptop and desktop machines. It appears that the permission on any new files that are added through Live Mesh do not inherit permissions from the parent directory. Now I cannot overwrite the permissions on those files. I keep getting an "Access is Denied" error when attempting to do so, even if I am running Windows Explorer as administrator. I have two questions: How can I modify the file permissions to allow them to inherit again? Has anyone used Live Mesh to do this sort of thing? Or should I be using FolderShare instead?

  • How to save multiple UIImage to a file iPad

    I have a PDF reader that displays pages of the document. What I want to do is allow the user to draw over the PDF in a transparent view. Then I want to save the drawing (UIImage) to disk. If at all possible, I don't want to have the documents folder filled with files like documentName_page01.png, documentName_page02.png for every page that is drawn over. However, I can't figure out how to store these UIImages into a single file without it becoming unwieldy and memory intensive. Any ideas appreciated.

  • Reading in data from a file into an array

    If I have an options file along the lines of this: size = 4 data = 1100010100110010 And I have a 2d size * size array that I want to populate the values in data into, what's the best way of doing it? To clarify, for the example I have I'd want an array like this: int[4][4] array = {{1,1,0,0}, {0,1,0,1}, {0,0,1,1}, {0,0,1,0}}. (Not real code but you get the idea). Size can be really be any number though. I'm thinking I'd have to read in the size, maloc an array and then maybe read in a string full of data then loop through each char in the data, cast it to an int and stick it in the appropriate index? But I really have no idea how to go about it, have been searching for a while with no luck. Any help would be cool! :)

    I'm new to Python (like Zygote new), and it's just to supplement another program but what I need is I have a text file that's a group of items for a game and it is formatted so: [1] Name=Blah Faction=Blahdiddly Cost=1000 [2] Name=Meh Faction=MehMeh Cost=2000 [3] Name=Lollypop Faction=Blahdiddly Cost=100 And I need to be able to find out what groups (the numbers in brackets) have matching values. So if I search Faction=Blahdiddly Group 1 & 3 will come up. I unfortunately have NO idea how to do this. Can anyone help?

    First of all thanks for your attention. My question is how to reduce the execution time of my code. Here is the relevant code. The below code is called in iteration from the main. def call_prism(prism_input_file,random_length): prism_output_file = "path.txt" cmd = "prism %s -simpath %d %s" % (prism_input_file,random_length,prism_output_file) p = os.popen(cmd) p.close() return prism_output_file def main(prism_input_file, number_of_strings): ... for n in range(number_of_strings): prism_output_file = call_prism(prism_input_file,z[n]) ... return I used statistics from the "profile statistics browser" when I profiled my code. The "file close" system command took the maximum time (14.546 seconds). The call_prism routine is called 10 times. But the number_of_strings is usually in thousands, so, my program takes lot of time to complete. Let me know if you need more information. By the way I tried with subprocess, too. Thanks.

    I updated to 14.04 from 12.04.03. I was using cinammon at that time. When I upgraded to 14.04 ,I got a serious problem.   • help! corrupt file recovery

    My supervisor computer crashed last night, and I'm trying to help him out. He made an R script but when he tried to open it, it was empty. But for some reason the file is 7.9kb so it should not be empty i think... anyway when i tried to open it, Gedit gave this error: "The file you opened has some invalid characters. If you continue editing this file you could corrupt this document. You can also choose another character encoding and try again." and the options to encode the characters.   • Frequent Disconnects ubuntu desktop 12.10 x64 intel 82579V e1000e

    I'm having frequent disconnects with my new install of Ubuntu 12.10. I tried updating the kernel driver to the latest intel release to no avail. My expertise is spent.     Yes, I know that this question has been asked many times before, but none of the answers really helped. I'd like to package the Minecraft launcher (which has no proprietary code, AFAIK,) into a .deb file so that I can put it on a flash drive and share it with my friends. I have managed to install Minecraft it manually (put some files into /opt/minecraft, download an icon, and create a .desktop file in /usr/share/applications,) and I have made a shell script that completely automates the process, but it relies on wget to retrieve a few files, including the .desktop file. (It isn't a self-extracting archive, after all.) I'd like to be able to do this offline, as a lot of my friends have slow or no internet. (One of their internet lines was buried so shallowly that it actually got knocked out by the lawnmower.) I won't be loading it into a PPA or anything like that; I just want it to be a "formal" package that can be easily installed and uninstalled. (One thing that I would like is for sudo apt-get purge minecraft to also remove the .minecraft folder. It would also be nice to define the dependedcies as being able to accept OpenJDK or Sun's JVM.) Oh, just so you know, the Minecraft launcher is a .jar file, but I can very, very easily launch it via shell scripts. The exact command is right on the download page.

That's not acceptable to me, so I either need a solution or I won't be able to use symlinks the way I wish to. Is there a solution that will work with Dolphin file manager?     While I can easily find the binaries for the latest version of subversion (1.6) I can't find the binaries for Ubuntu (or Debian). The download page at tigris.org suggest to use the command: apt-get install subversion but as you can experience this will install up to the version 1.5.4 (at the time of writing May 6, 2009). This isn't a nice thing because many working copies that I share with Windows are automatically updated to 1.6 by TortoiseSVN.

    Everything was fine until I did an upgrade from Ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10. Since then, Eclipse just doesn't respond properly. The following are the symptoms I can see: When I click on update, it grabs the available updates but doesn't show them. Any internal window that is displayed has corrupted buttons I cannot click on any of the buttons. I have to keep pressing Tab to highlight that specific button and then hit spacebar. Anyone knows how to solve this?
