Gmail supports multiple color of stars, and is:starred (or Starred in sidebar) lists all email threads with a star of some color, but is there a way to search by color kind?

I'm using Gmail (for domains) When viewing the inbox, converations are sorted by their 'last activity', usualy an email. However, when I view all conversations of a single label, by clicking the label in the box left on the screen, mails are ordered by first activity.
Can anyone confirm this, and does anyone know how I can change this behaviour?
I have just installed POSTFIX on a Debian box, I pointed the relay host config setting to an exchange server which will deliver the mail to external users.
So what I am trying to do is telnet to the debian box and send an email to [email protected] which will then be past to the exchange server for delivery.
The problem is I get the following:
rcpt to:[email protected]
554 relay access denied
I have seen a section in the config "mydestination" but i want the exchange server to decide which domains it will deliver for and not the POSTFIX server.
My TCP/IP Stack knowledge is a little rusty so please bear with me....
I have a CentOS 5.7 server with SendMail and am having seeing intermittent timeout issues sending email (particularly larger email) to other remote domains. It doesn't happen with all attachments or recipient domains. Just some. After some extended troubleshooting, I think I've narrowed it down to TCP Sequences not being acknowledged.
Here's a breakdown of the TCP session from a packet capture I collected directly on my MTA (fooMTA):
Packet 1 - 11: Standard TCP handshake followed by initial SMTP conversation. No errors.
Packet #12 Recipient MTA: TCP sequence 231. Ack 91.
Packet #13 FooMTA: TCP sequence 91. Ack 305.
Packet #14 FooMTA: TCP sequence 1115. Ack 305.
Packet #15 Recipient MTA: TCP sequence 305. Ack 2495.
Packet #16 FooMTA: TCP sequence 2495. Ack 305.
Packet #17 FooMTA: TCP sequence 5255. Ack 305.
Packet #18: Recipient MTA: TCP sequence 305. Ack 5255.
Packet #19: FooMTA: TCP sequence 6635. Ack 305.
Packet #20: FooMTA: TCP sequence 8015. Ack 305.
Packet #21: Recipient MTA: TCP Sequence 305. Ack 8015.
Packet #22: FooMTA: TCP Sequence 10775. Ack 305.
Packet #23: FooMTA: TCP Sequence 13535. Ack 305.
Packet #24: Recipient MTA: TCP sequence 305. Ack 10775
Packet #25: FooMTA: TCP Sequence 14915. Ack 305
It keeps going like this with my server still thinking it hasn’t received sequence 305… in response the remote side eventually retransmits its prior data thinking that it never arrived. Eventually the gap gets so large that no new data is sent and the remote MTA keeps retransmitting old stuff. This contributes to an exponential backoff and eventually the remote side gives up.
What’s strange to me is that I see the “missing” TCP sequence (305 in this case) arriving back to my server (via a packet capture collected directly from fooMTA) So I don’t get why my server keeps asking for it.
Could this be firewall related? What would be the next step in troubleshooting?
Is there a command that can be run to verify that a users cron job has run successfully?
Platform is Ubuntu 8.04 LTS.
I have scripts in /home/useraccount/bin/
running
crontab -l
while logged in as user results in:
# m h dom mon dow command
@hourly /home/useraccount/bin/script_1
@hourly /home/locateruser/bin/script_2
I realize scripts could send email or write to a log with a timestamp, but wondering if there is just a way to verify it ran from the command line.
I have set up a header filter in postfix to discard messages from Russia and Romania because of the volume of spam coming from those and we do not currently do business in those countries.
My regex looks like this
/^From:.*\@.*\.ro/ DISCARD
Problem is it is discarding messages containing .rodomainsomething like @email.roadrunnerrecords.com
How would I make it filter exact to TLD .ro?
Thanks.
If I archive an email in GMail, it only appears in my "All Mail" folder alongside non-archived emails.
Is there any way to set up a filter for just the archived messages?
At the company I work at, an employee was let go. His laptop was a company laptop with Photoshop CS3 installed on it. Photoshop was deactivated so it could be installed on another computer. The license was bought online and emailed to someone, however, that computer crashed and the email with the license is lost.
Is there a way to recover the license from the laptop? Are we better off contacting Adobe's customer support?
I was recently hacked by a person I know who I happened to make an account using my hacked email. I was wondering how I can close off Google Apps without logging in. (I have FTP and such, and I deleted the nameservs already)
I am new to sendmail and would like to configure sendmail to forward all mail for a specific email address to another internal mail server. I need it to ignore the MX records and only send it to the server I specify but am not sure which files to edit or how to configure the sendmail config. Is it sufficiant to add the server to the /etc/hosts and the /etc/mail/local-host-names files?
Thanks in advance.
I share my computer with someone who does not have a google account, I do not want them to be able to click on chrome and potentially access my saved data (ie. passwords/CC info). Everytime I attempt to logoff chrome (not my email, chrome itself), I only get the option to delete or change user. I just want my info off, do I have to delete my account each time or is there a way to just log my infomation off chrome?
Hi,
Is there any way for me to find the php script that is sending emails.
I have apache+php ( no mod_suphp neither suexec ) in a "standard" install, and i want to find out witch php script is sending emails, when i check the logs i just see the uid of the user that's sending the emails ( in my case apache ) but i want to find out the script that's originated the email.
Is it possible or i must install suexec or mod_suphp to keep trac of that ?
Thks for the help.

Has anybody who administers email servers or spam filtering noticed that in last couple of weeks the spam volume has dropped significantly? Is there a chart provided by one of the major spam filtering companies?
Edit: Based on our internal stats, although it varies, on the two weeks starting the day after Christmas (Sunday), spam seems to be coming in about half as much as it did before Christmas.
When someone sends me an outlook appointment email on my mobile me account, it does not allow me to accept it and place on my iphone calendar. what can I do?
I've added my gmail account to Mail.app
It worked find in previous days, and downloaded thousands of previous mails.
But now, it can't connect to gmail server for days.
What's the matter here?
Here is my config in account setting:
Account Type: Gmail IMAP
Email Address: [email protected]
Incoming Mail Server: imap.gmail.com
User Name: [email protected]
Password: xxxxxx
And also, is there any means that I can view the transaction log of Mail.app? Maybe there I can find more information.
I am running Exchange 2013 on Windows Server 2012 R2.
When I add my exchange account to Outlook, it seems to work perfectly (sending/receiving email, syncing everything), but when I open the account settings it has the following set as the Server:
[email protected]
I would have expects this to be: mail.domain.com since this is the DNS A record pointing to the IP of my server. Where is it getting this server name?
I need to customise the default email users get when their Exchange 2003 mailbox reaches one of the limits.
There are a lot of pages online on how to do this using a tool that was hosted at http://workspaces.gotdotnet.com/quotamsgsvc. However, this site has been discontinued, and Microsoft do not appear to have migrated this bit of code over.
Does anyone know an alternative option, or where the QuotaMSGSvc might now be found?
How to assign my email address to a key combination (Ctrl + F10) so that I do not have to repeatedly type the address. The Windows system is Vista Home Premium.
I'm not even sure if this is possible with Outlook's current rule set but I thought I'd ask.
I'd like emails that meet certain characteristics to automatically be moved from my inbox after they are a day old.
I get a lot of notification emails that I end up having to remove the next day manually since I get new ones to replace them each day.
So a rule would be like:
If the email is from [email protected] and older then 1 day move to already read folder.
I'm using Thunderbird 2.0.22, the version that comes with Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10.
When I hit "Reply" or "Write", a new email window pops up, but it ends up being under the main Thunderbird Window, and doesn't have focus. Thunderbird is the only application that exhibits this weird behaviour, and it just started happening one day, whereas it worked fine before.
I've seen this problem years ago as well, and wasn't sure how I fixed it.
Previous questions have asked "how can I efficiently switch between windows, not applications, in OS X"? (Switching windows on OS X, Switch between windows on Mac OS X? and others). The most recommended suggestions seem to be:
Use some combo of cmd-tab and cmd-~.
Use Expose, and possibly Spaces
Use Witch
I spent the money on Witch, and have been using it for a few weeks; it's ok, but it is sometimes slow to respond, sometimes buggy on window order, crashes my system if I disable and re-enable it too many times, and doesn't work properly with X11 apps.
The built-in cmd-tab and cmd-~ are ok, but still bring an entire application to the forefront. I find a very common workflow I use is to bounce back and forth between two windows (for example, a browser window and a Thunderbird email in progress), when both apps (the browser and email software) have multiple windows open. I can use Cmd-Tab to get back and forth between apps, but whenever I switch to an app, ALL windows from that app pop up. That suddenly fills my screen with irrelevant data and windows, and often drops those other windows in front of the single window from the other app that I was using and would conveniently like to keep viewing even though it isn't in focus.
Expose seems to be the preferred "OS X natural way," but I can't seem to get myself to use it efficiently. I hit F9, and see 10 windows; I then need to squint, try to find the window I want, then use the mouse or the cursor keys to navigate to the one I want. Given the number of power users who say they use Expose, I must be missing the boat here.
My goal is not to make this a repeat of previous questions. I'm not asking "what are my alternatives?" (unless I've missed one above!) Rather, I'm asking: what are you, OS X power users, actually doing to handle the use case I described above? Another common use case for me is having multiple Excel spreadsheets open and multiple browser windows open, and I'm rapidly switching back and forth between one spreadsheet in particular and one browser window. Every time I Cmd-Tab, all spreadsheets or all browser windows appear: I don't want to see the ones I'm not working with, and they tend to hide the windows from the alternative app that I don't have in focus but I'd like to at least eyeball. Can you describe what your workflow is like, and how you rapidly and thoughtlessly switch between windows from apps that have multiple windows open?
Hi All,
How in DNS can i redirect all A and MX records from example.us to example.org?
Therefore:
Users who go to www.example.us will be forwarded to www.example.org
An email to [email protected] will be forwarded to [email protected]
Thanks
