  • How to close a form in UserControl

    - by FJPoort
I created a UserControl with the buttons Save, Close and Cancel. I want to close the form without saving on the Cancel button, prompt a message to save on the Close button and Save without closing on the Save button. Normally, I would have used this.Close() on the Cancel button, but the UserControl doesn't have such an option. So I guess I have to set a property for that. Scrolling down the "Questions that may already have your answer" section, I came across this question: How to close a ChildWindow from an UserControl button loaded inside it? I used the following C# code: private void btnCancel_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { ProjectInfo infoScreen = (ProjectInfo)this.Parent; infoScreen.Close(); } This does the job for one screen, but I wonder if I have to apply this code for all the screen I have? I think there should be a more efficient way. So my question is: Do I need to apply this code for every form I have, or is there another (more efficient) way?

  • Cannot serialize this List<T> extension

    - by Jaxidian
I'm trying to push a subset of a collection of data through WCF to be consumed by WCF - think paged data. As such, I want this collection to have one page's worth of data as well as a total number of results. I figured this should be trivial by creating a custom object that extends List. However, everything I do results in my TotalNumber property coming across as 0. All of the data gets serialized/deserialized just fine but that single integer won't come across at all. Here's my first attempt that failed: [Serializable] public class PartialList<T> : List<T> { public PartialList() { } public PartialList(IEnumerable<T> collection) : base(collection) { } [DataMember] public int UnpartialTotalCount { get; set; } And here's my second attempt that failed in the exact same way: [Serializable] public class PartialList<T> : List<T>, ISerializable { public PartialList() { } public PartialList(IEnumerable<T> collection) : base(collection) { } [DataMember] public int UnpartialTotalCount { get; set; } protected PartialList(SerializationInfo info, StreamingContext context) { UnpartialTotalCount = info.GetInt32("UnpartialTotalCount"); } public void GetObjectData(SerializationInfo info, StreamingContext context) { info.AddValue("UnpartialTotalCount", UnpartialTotalCount); } } What's the deal here??

  • How to copy a text array to a series of cells in Excel

    - by aSystemOverload
I am dynamically creating a report, where I create a worksheet, bring in the records afresh. How can I easily type the field names and copy them to the cells. Without doing one cell per line, there are ~20 columns. I tried: dim fieldNames as variant fieldNames = ("'DS Date', 'A', 'B', 'A','S ASD', 'S','D S','D S', 'S','D S', 'SD', 'S','D'") Sheets("DATA").Range("C14:W14").Value = Application.WorksheetFunction.Transpose(fieldNames) But it just posts the whole thing in each cell? Any ideas?

  • How to get the Actual Link file location in VSS?

    - by Regi
I use VSS and currently I am adding a link file using following code: int ShareFlags = (int)VSSFlags.VSSFLAG_RECURSNO; //Link in sourcesafe IVSSDatabase ssdb = GetVssDatabase(); Shared.Enums.SqlObjectSubType _sqlSubType = new Shared.Enums.SqlObjectSubType(); VSSItem SourceItem = ssdb.get_VSSItem(pSourceItemPath, false); //if source is a proj, recursively share the whole thing if (SourceItem.Type == (int)VSSItemType.VSSITEM_PROJECT) ShareFlags = (int)VSSFlags.VSSFLAG_RECURSYES; VSSItem DestItem = ssdb..get_VSSItem(pDestItemPath, false); //share the item DestItem.Share(SourceItem, pComment, ShareFlags); if (SourceItem.Type == (int)VSSItemType.VSSITEM_FILE) { bResult = true; } return bResult; This will works fine. My issue is that I need to find the actual link location. For example I have a Project named as Link and it contains 2 files say file1 and file2. I added a Link to my Working project (say CurrentProject). This current project have 2 files say f1 and f2. After sharing the Link project then we get the item in Current project as: $/CurrentProject/File1 $/CurrentProject/File2 $/CurrentProject/F1 $/CurrentProject/F2 Here File1 and File2 are link files. I need to get its parent (Actual) location i.e. $/Link/file1 and $/Link/File2 Is there any way to find Link files location using SourceSafeTypeLib?

  • DataSet XML export is empty

    - by Shaine
I've got in-memory dataset with couple of tables that is populated in code. Data-bound grids on the gui show table contents without a problem. Then I try to export the dataset into XML: ds.WriteXml(fdSave.FileName, XmlWriteMode.WriteSchema); and get empty XML (with couple of lines regarding dataset names but without any tables) If I export table directly I've got all the data but dataset name is obviously wrong: ds.Fields.WriteXml(fdSave.FileName, XmlWriteMode.WriteSchema); What am I missing? Is there any reasonable way to write the whole dataset into file?

  • How to include the right reference in C# using the "Browser" tab

    - by vizcaynot
Hello: I am working on VS2010 C# and I want to add a .dll reference compiled under VS2008; this .dll exists in 2 versions: Debug and Release. The .dll is not under .NET, COM or projects tabs, so I only have the "browser" tab to add the .dll to the reference. My question is: How can I indicate to VS to take the release .dll version when I compile in the release mode and to take the debug .dll version when I compile in the debug mode? Thanks.

  • Accessing a file (for writing) from a JBoss Web Service

    - by Andreas Grech
Let's say I have this structure of my Java Web Application: TheProject -- [Web Pages] -- -- abc.txt -- -- index.jsp -- [Source Packages] -- -- [wservices] -- -- -- WS.java WS.java is my Web Service, which is situated in a wservices package. Now from this service, I need to access the abc.txt file and write to it. These are my urls: http://127.0.0.1:8080/TheProject/WS <- the webservice http://127.0.0.1:8080/TheProject/abc.txt <- the file I want to access To read the file, I tried with getResourceAsStream and I was successful in reading from it. But now I also want to write to this file, and I tried such a method but failed. Is there a way I can get access to the abc.txt file from WS.java and be able to successfully read from and write to it?

  • Expose jar resources over web

    - by Heavy Bytes
I have a web-service (with Spring-WS). I have a jar with several schemas (schema1.xsd, schema2.xsd and schema3.xsd) which I include in my web service. Is there a way to expose the schemas from the jar through a servlet somehow in my web-service wep app? My Spring MessageDispatcherServlet is mapped to /ws/ I would like my schemas to be exposed to /schemas/schema1.xsd /schemas/schema2.xsd and so on. I have an idea how to do it with a servlet, but it's too verbose and there has to be a nicer way. The way I am thinking is have a servlet filter and everything that hits /schemas/ check if it is in my list of allowed resources and display it. This has to be a server agnostic solution. (For instance http://tuckey.org/urlrewrite/ will not work). Thanks.

  • backgroundworkers or threadpools

    - by vbNewbie
I am trying to create an app that allows multiple search requests to occur whilst maintaining use of the user interface to allow interaction. For the multiple search requests, I initially only had one search request running with user interaction still capable by using a backgroundworker to do this. Now I need to extend these functions by allowing more search functions and basically just queueing them up. I am not sure whether to use multiple backgroundworkers or use the threadpool since I want to be able to know the progress of each search job at any time.

  • Solution Output Directory

    - by L.E.O
The project that I'm currently working on is being developed by multiple teams where each team is responsible for different part of the project. They all have set up their own C# projects and solutions with configuration settings specific to their own needs. However, now we need to create another, global solution, which will combine and build all projects into the same output directory. The problem that I have encountered though, is that I have found only one way to make all projects build into the same output directory - I need to modify configurations for all of them. That is what we would like to avoid. We would prefer that all these projects had no knowledge about this "global" solution. Each team must retain possibility to work just with their own sub-solution. One possible workaround is to create a special configuration for all projects just for this "global" solution, but that could create extra problems since now you have to constantly sync this configuration settings with the regular one, used by that specific team. Last thing we want to do is to spend hours trying to figure out why something doesn't work when building under global solution just because of some check box that developers have checked in their configuration, but forgot to do so in the global configuration. So, to simplify, we need some sort of output directory setting or post build event that would only be present when building from that global, all-inclusive solution. Is there any way to achieve this without changing something in projects configurations? Update 1: Some extra details I guess I need to mention: We need this global solution to be as close as possible to what the end user gets when he installs our application, since we intend to use it for debugging of the entire application when we need to figure out which part of the application isn't working before sending this bug to the team working on that part. This means that when building under global solution the output directory hierarchy should be the same as it would be in Program Files after installation, so that if, for example, we have Program Files/MyApplication/Addins folder which contains all the addins developed by different teams, we need the global solution to copy the binaries from addins projects and place them in the output directory accordingly. The thing is, the team developing an addin doest necessary know that it is an addin and that it should be placed in that folder, so they cannot change their relative output directory to be build/bin/Debug/Addins.

  • Unity and web service

    - by zachary
I had this awesome idea... but I am afraid maybe it is actually a bad idea.... we use unity for dependency injection. I make interfaces from my web services using partial classes for the purpose of mocking and web services.... What I want to do is put my web services into unity and get them via dependency injection... What do you think? Is there too much overhead somewhere? Memory leaks? Is this a bad idea?

  • How can I determine whether or not to add project items using IWizard?

    - by taarskog
    Hi, I am generating entity wrappers in VS2010 based on dynamic objects in a CRM system. In addition to the entity code, I want to add an EntityBase of which all entities inherit from. If the file exists in the project from before, it should not be added. I am using an IWizard implementation to give the generator the object names etc. Is it possible in the IWizard implementation to determine whether or not to add an item if it exists in the project from before? How do I get a hold of the project handle and its items in or before the ShouldAddProjectItem method? My code so far (not completed): public class EntityWizardImplementation : IWizard { public void BeforeOpeningFile(ProjectItem projectItem) { //Note: Nothing here. } public void ProjectFinishedGenerating(Project project) { //Note: Nothing here. } public void ProjectItemFinishedGenerating(ProjectItem projectItem) { //Note: Nothing here. } public void RunFinished() { //Note: Nothing here. } public void RunStarted(object automationObject, Dictionary<string, string> replacementsDictionary, WizardRunKind runKind, object[] customParams) { try { var window = new WizardWindow(); // Replace parameters gathered from the wizard replacementsDictionary.Add("$crmEntity$", window.CrmEntity); replacementsDictionary.Add("$crmOrganization$", window.CrmOrganization); replacementsDictionary.Add("$crmMetadataServiceUrl$", window.CrmMetadataUrl); window.Close(); } catch (SoapException se) { MessageBox.Show(se.ToString()); } catch (Exception e) { MessageBox.Show(e.ToString()); } } public bool ShouldAddProjectItem(string filePath) { // This is where I assume it is correct to handle the preexisting file. return true; } }

Now what I need to do is if the column is null the checkbox should be disabled/readonly

  • MSTest Not Finding New Tests

    - by Blake Blackwell
Using VS2010, I can't seem to add additional test methods. If I set up my project like this [TestMethod] public void Test1() { Assert.AreNotEqual(0,1); } [TestMethod] public void Test2() { Assert.AreNotEqual(0,1); } The only test that shows up in my Test View is Test1. How do I make sure Test2 gets in to that list?
