    Hi All! I have asp.net application, using LINQ to connecto to SQL Server 2008 R2 databse. My connection string: Data Source=[SqlServerIp];Initial Catalog=[databaseName]User Id=newLogin;Password=newPassword; When I deploy application on my local IIS (which is not the same machine as database server) it works fine, but when I deploy application on other IIS (the same machine as sqlServer) it throws an exception: System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. Anyone knows how to fix it? Maybe it is due to some bad configuration of IIS? Please help.

  • C# Elegant way to handle checking for an item in a collection.

    I've posted a code sample below. Firstly let me explain termStore.Groups in the code below is a collection of Group Objects (The exact class is irrelevant). Checking for null : if (termStore.Groups[groupName] == null) seems like a logical (clean) approach, but if the Groups collection is empty then an exception is produced. using the termStore.Groups.Contains is not an option either because this expects a strong type i.e: .Contains(Group)... not .Contains(GroupName as string) Can someone recommend a clean / generic way I can check for if an item exists in collection .     I have an application which takes measurements every second (I am running it in demo mode & generating random data, so the problem is not to do with reading from devices attached to the serial port). After 5 or 6 minutes it hangs. I have added try // entire body of procedure/function goes here except on E: Exception do begin MessageDlg('Internal coding error in <function name>()', mtError, [mbOK], 0); end; end; to every single function (and Application.Run() in the project file), but I don't see any message dialogs. Any idea how I can test this?

  • Windows Phone 7 Application + WCF + SSL + Username Authentication

    Hello, I have developed a test service with WCF, which I try to consume from a Windows Phone 7 Application, however when calling a method from the service I get a weird exception: There was no endpoint listening at https://server/Service.svc that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. The WCF service uses a custom binding with UserNameOverTransport authentication and SSL. For the authorization I am using an implementation of the UserNamePasswordValidator. If I try to consume the service from a console or silverlight application (cross domain policy is enabled) - it works fine (authorization as well). And the most weird thing is that the ServiceReferences.ClientConfig file generated for the WP7 App is exactly the same as the config file generated for the silverlight application. I have no idea what is wrong with my service...

  • Function chaining depending on boolean result

    This is just an efficiency question really.. I'm interested to know if there is a more efficient or logical way that people use to handle this sort of scenario. In my asp.net application I am running a script to generate a new project my code at the top level looks like this: Dim ok As Boolean = True ok = createFolderStructure() If ok Then ok = createMDB() If ok Then ok = createProjectConfig() If ok Then ok = updateCompanyConfig() I create a boolean and each function returns a boolean result, the next function in this chain will only run if the previous one was successful. I do this because an asp.net application will continue to run through the page life cycle unless there is an unhandled exception and I don't want my whole application to be screwed up if something in the chain goes wrong (there is a lot of copying and deleting of files etc.. in this example). I was just wondering how other people handle this scenario? the vb.net single line if statement is quite succinct but I'm wondering if there is a better way?

    I am using clojure.contrib.sql to fetch some records from an SQLite database. (defn read-all-foo [] (with-connection *db* (with-query-results res ["select * from foo"] (into [] res)))) Now, I don't really want to realize the whole sequence before returning from the function (i.e. I want to keep it lazy), but if I return res directly or wrap it some kind of lazy wrapper (for example I want to make a certain map transformation on result sequence), SQL-related bindings will be reset and connection will be closed after I return, so realizing the sequence will throw an exception. How can I enclose the whole function in a closure and return a kind of anonymous iterator block (like yield in C# or Python)? Or is there another way to return a lazy sequence from this function?

    I have Microsoft Word template that I automated filling it’s fields from my application, and when the user request print I open this template. but creating word application every time user request print after filling fields is very expensive and lead to some delay while opening the template, so I choose to cache the reference to Word then just open the new filled template. that solve the performance issue as opening file is less expensive than recreating Word each time, but this work while the user just close the document not the entire Word application which when happened my reference to Word become invalid and return with exception says: “The RPC server is unavailable” next time request opening template . I tried to subscribe to BeforClosing event but his trigger for Quitting Word as well as Closing documents. My question is how to know if the word is closing document or quit the entire application so I take the proper action, or any hint for another direction of thinking about improve performance of opening word template.

    Hello, I'm working on the app that uses CoreData. There is location entity that holds latitude and longitude values. I'd like to fetch those entities sorted by distance to the user's location. I tried to set sort descriptor to distance formula sqrt ((x1 - x2)^2 + (y1 - y2)^2) but it fails with exception "... keypath ... not found in entity".   • How to stop an activity with GL view. Application not responding

    I have an activity that I want to programmatically stop after some elapsed time. I have a GL view running. My understanding is that the GLSurfaceView.renderer is running in its own thread, so I created a handler instantiated from the activity. In the GLSurfaceView I post a message. The handler then attempts to stop the activity with the following: onStop(); finish(); The activity seems to close. However, if I try to restart the application, I get a blank screen, the phone is practically locked up and eventually I get a message that the activity in the application is not responding. I'm also getting geting a wake lock, ie PowerManager.newWakeLock(...). When I try to release it, I get an exception. Not sure if its the GL view of the wake lock which is causing me troubles. Any ideas appreciated.

    I need to configure my gmail account(s) programmatically with Ruby. I checked out the apps api and it looks like the simplest possible solution would be to use ClientLogin for logging in and a simple XML PUT for changing the forwarding setting, for example. I wrote a little test script like so: http://gist.github.com/373457 It would appear that the call to ClientLogin works because it comes back with an Auth= token. When it sends the PUT request to google, however, it comes back with a RestClient::Unauthorized exception. I rewrote the script with pure net/https and it turns out the message I'm getting is invalid token, yet I can't figure out what is wrong with my token. Can anyone else see it?
