  • Program to write for you?

    I need a program that can write what you input in it, and "writing" it back on another process, letter by letter, not copying and pasting it back. Basically, I have a insanely huge file that would take me about a month of non-stop keyboard typing and I can't simply control-C to the other program because it doesn't allow pasting text (go figure). I do realize it's quite an unusual question, but I need this to be done by a machine and not myself. Is there any way to be done?

  • Can you plug DVD/Game system into an LCD?

    All the LCD's in our house have DVI and VGA inputs. None support S-Video or any analog formats. Our game systems (nes, snes, n64, ps, ps2, gamecube, etc..) and DVD and VHS players only have composite (the yellow/red/white cords..?) or S-Video (that PS2-input like cable..?). How can I convert the signal these analog systems output to work on VGA or DVI?

  • What are pros and cons of logrotate vs rotatelogs with Apache?

I do not have enough experience to speak if this is enough criteria to use rotatelogs over logrotate.   • Increase Timeout for remote sessions in Debian 5 Lenny

    I always get a remote connection time out when using PuTTy and also when i send emails with attachments from a mail sever installed on Debian. I always get this error. I'm not sure if this is firewall or the new Debian 5 installation which i made. Is there any settings i need to fix after fresh install. Any inputs are highly appreciated.   • LXC container can only access host via bridge

    I have an LXC container with i686 Ubuntu 12.04 running on a x86_64 Ubuntu 12.04 host. I've set up a bridge using instructions here. However the ping from the container only goes through to the host and not to other machines on the local network. Similarly only the host and not the other machines see the container OS.     I'd like to broadcast audio from my Mac desktop to my Palm Pre, as the Pre is more portable and I can use it in the kitchen, or while I'm exercising, and so on. I can already capture the audio using Soundflower, but how might I create an MP3 stream out of the audio input device? For all intents and purposes, Soundflower can reduce this question down to, "How can I create an MP3 stream from the built-in microphone on my Mac?" as the answer can be applied equally well to iTunes output.

    I'm setting up IPv6 using my router which is running OpenWRT, version Backfire 10.03.1-rc4. I made a tunnel using Hurricane Electric's tunnel broker and set it up on the router and I'm using RADVD to hand out IPv6 addresses. My problem is that on computers on the network, I can only access ipv6.google.com using a browser, but other sites seem to be loading forever and won't open in any browser. I can ping and traceroute to them fine, but can't open them with a browser. I can open any site normally with a browser from the router. Stopping firewall service on the router doesn't help, so it's probably not a firewall issue. All AAAA records resolve fine, so it's probably not a DNS issue. Computers on the network get their IPv6 addresses fine, so it's probably not a radvd issue. Similar setup worked fine for SixXs, but I'm having problems with my PoP there, so I decided to move to HE. I also made a thread about this on HE's forum, but it seems that people there are out of ideas what to do.

  • Remote Desktop to Windows 2008 hosted in VirtualBox makes host unresponsive

    I have installed Windows 2008 R2 SP1 in a VirtualBox VM. It works fine, except that if I Remote Desktop (RDP) to the VM from the host (machine running VirtualBox, Windows 7 SP1), after a minute or so the windows shell becomes unresponsive. I can no longer start task manager, open the start menu or switch applications. Keyboard input also drops some keys. Mouse movement is not affected. Any idea what is causing this? NB: This is Windows RDP, not the remote display built into VirtualBox
