  • jquery.position() isn't working correctly.

    - by devzero
    I'm working on a menu system where I want a ul to show as a dropdown when the users does a mouseOver on li in another ul. I thought I'd use position to set the position of the dropdown (so it actually looks like a menu). What I want is the dropdown's top left corner to start at the same place as the bottom left corner of the wrapping listitem. Unfortunately the positioning fails in several different ways: In Firefox it seems like the dropdown's are offset with approximately -100 25 pixels the first item in the list has a different offset on the left side compared to the other items The offset in IE is not the same as in FF Doing the positioning repeatedly in explorer results in different positions each time. I've created a test page where you can see the effects: http://test.evju.biz/test/test_position.html

  • Selecting a portion of a JSON array and applying variables in javascript or jquery

    - by user1644609
    I am retrieving a JSON file that returns its results like what you see below. The JSON has 365 days worth of data. I would like to create "views" of this JSON using javascript, one which pulls the last 10 days, then 1 month, 6 months, etc. After the getJSON function I am doing this to get a string as JSON, then turn it into an object and will then graph it. So I would like each "view" to be an object for the specified timeframe (using the one JSON). The obj_10days, obj_1month, etc variables would then be plotted. var $ graph = data ; var obj = $ . parseJSON ( $ graph ) ; JSON: [ { "Low": 8.63, "Volume": 14211900, "Date": "2012-10-26", "High": 8.79, "Close": 8.65, "Adj Close": 8.65, "Open": 8.7 }, { "Low": 8.65, "Volume": 12167500, "Date": "2012-10-25", "High": 8.81, "Close": 8.73, "Adj Close": 8.73, "Open": 8.76 }, { "Low": 8.68, "Volume": 20239700, "Date": "2012-10-24", "High": 8.92, "Close": 8.7, "Adj Close": 8.7, "Open": 8.85 }, Any help is appreciated, thank you!

  • jQuery ajax request response is empty in Internet Explorer

    - by Aprilia1982
    Hi, I'm doing the following ajax call: //exif loader function LoadExif(cImage) { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "http://localhost:62414/Default1.aspx/GetImageExif", data: "{iCurrentImage:" + cImage + "}", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", error: ajaxFailed, success: function (data, status) { var sStr = ''; for (var count in data.d) { sStr = sStr + data.d[count]; }; alert(sStr); } }); }; In Firefox the request works really fine. When I try to run the code in Internet Explorer, the response is empty. Here is the webmethod witch is called: <WebMethod()> _ <ScriptMethod(ResponseFormat:=ResponseFormat.Json)> _ Public Shared Function GetImageExif(ByVal iCurrentImage As Integer) As String Dim sbTable As New StringBuilder sbTable.AppendLine("<table>") sbTable.AppendLine("<tr>") sbTable.AppendLine("<td>Name</td><td>" & gGallery.Images(iCurrentImage).File.Name & "</td>") sbTable.AppendLine("</tr>") sbTable.AppendLine("</table>") Return sbTable.ToString End Function Any ideas? • JQuery transition animation

    - by kk-dev11
    This program randomly selects two employees from a json-object Employees array, winnerPos is already defined. For better user experience I programmed these functions to change pictures one by one. The animation stops when the randomly selected person is shown on the screen. The slideThrough function will be triggered when the start button is pressed. function slideThrough() { counter = 0; start = true; clearInterval(picInterval); picInterval = setInterval(function () { changePicture(); }, 500); } function changePicture() { if (start) { if (counter > winnerPos) { setWinner(); start = false; killInterval(); } else { var employee = Employees[counter]; winnerPic.fadeOut(200, function () { this.src = 'img/' + employee.image; winnerName.html(employee.name); $(this).fadeIn(300); }); counter++; } } } The problem is the animation doesn't work smoothly. At first it works, but not perfect. The second time the transition happens in an irregular way, i.e. different speed and fadeIn/fadeOut differs from picture to picture. Could anyone help me to fine-tune the transition?

  • AJAX with jQuery not returning data

    - by James P
    This is my Javascript: $(document).ready(function() { $('#like').bind('keydown', function(e) { if(e.keyCode == 13) { var likeMsg = $('#like').val(); if(likeMsg) { // Send the AJAX request to like.php $.ajax({ url: 'like.php', success: function(data) { alert('Content: ' + data); } }); } } }); }); And this is my like.php file: <?php echo "It works! :)"; ?> When I press enter on the #like input, it seems the AJAX request is sent and an alert box comes up saying: Content:, but there's no data being sent back from like.php... I have checked if the file exists and if it's in the same directory and whatever and it is, so I'm pretty much clueless atm. Does anyone know what could be wrong here? Cheers.

  • jquery position changing with .css() behaving strange

    - by 11684
    I tried to make a moving img, and it works partially. If I press the right, up or down button, it moves right, up or down. But, if I press the left button, it jumps very fast very far to the right, and then back to the left and doesn't stop moving (I believe. I said it was fast). JSFiddle; Javascript: $(document).ready(function() { var up = down = left = right = false; var top = 100, left = 500; $("body").on("keydown", function(e) { if(e.keyCode == 39) {e.preventDefault(); if (right == false) right = setInterval(moveRight, 80);} else if(e.keyCode == 37) {e.preventDefault(); if (left == false) left = setInterval(moveLeft, 80);} else if(e.keyCode == 38) {e.preventDefault(); if (up == false) up = setInterval(moveUp, 80);} else if(e.keyCode == 40) {e.preventDefault(); if (down == false) down = setInterval(moveDown, 80);} }); $("body").on("keyup", function(e) { if(e.keyCode == 39) {clearInterval(right); right = false;} else if(e.keyCode == 37) {clearInterval(left); left = false;} else if(e.keyCode == 38) {clearInterval(up); up = false;} else if(e.keyCode == 40) {clearInterval(down); down = false;} }); function moveUp() { top -= 2; $("#player").css("top", top + "px"); } function moveDown() { top += 2; $("#player").css("top", top + "px"); } function moveLeft() { left -= 2; $("#player").css("left", left + "px"); } function moveRight() { left += 2; $("#player").css("left", left + "px"); } }); This is probably not the best way to do this, I'm open for better suggestions.   • [jQuery] Get width of element after resizing it

    - by infinito
    Hello, Is it possible to get the size of an element after resizing it using $(el).css()? My code is: function resize() { $(".combobox").css('width', '100%'); var width = $(".combobox").width(); } I've get the real value of the combobox only after calling the function a second time. The first time is gets the width before executing $(".combobox").css('width', '100%'); I suppose this is fault of the DOM not being recreated after the .css(). Is there any way to force DOM reloading? Thanks in advance!

  • jQuery catch img

    - by Happy
    We have a script used for each .item: $(".item").each(function(){ item_link = "http://..."; block = $('.block', this); $.get(item_link, function(data) { var src = $('img.slide', data).attr('src'); block.html(src); }); }); item_link variable is uniquie for each query. There can be 100 .item or more. The problem is - server has limit on connections at the same time, that why some .item get var src, some not. The best solution is to use just one .get at the same time. I think there should be some counter, if .get is finished - it gives message "I'm finished, you can start" to the next .get and so on. How to do that? Thanks.

  • IE Hanging on jQuery code

    - by OrangeRind
    Here's another clichéd problem, but I couldn't find an exact match to this. I haven't posted any source here, as you can freely see all that is there on the link. :-) Statement:I have a web page at http://agrimgupta.com/antaragni/ Disclaimer: Pardon me for the pathetic coding on that page. ;-) It was done on a very short interval. Improvements will be done at a later stage. Observation: This page is functioning normally on my localhost on all browsers. Problem: IE 8 is crawling (nearly hanging) while loading this page from the website. Although it is working fine on localhost. When on the website, It fails to render the mouseover effects, doing them in almost what seems like a minute. Question: How to resolve this stuck up of IE? It is necessary to resolve this. Thanks in Advance

  • Problem with running totals in jquery

    - by rshivers
    I'm having an issue trying to get an accurate running total for my calculations. When you enter numbers into the input field I get an accurate total for that line item, but the grand total comes out to a higher number. Note that this is a dynamic form and that the id's will change depending on how many form fields I have added to the form. Also, I have it set to make the calculations onKeyUp for each input field instead of a calculate button. The code that calculates a single item is this: function calcLineItem(id) { var id = $(id).attr("id"); var Item1 = $("#Item1" + id).val(); var Item2 = $("#Item2" + id).val(); var Item3 = $("#Item3" + id).val(); function calcTotal(Item1, Item2, Item3){ var total; total = Math.round((Item1 * Item2) * Item3); return total; } $("#total" + id).text(calcTotal(Item1, Item2, Item3)); calcAllFields(); } This will give me the total of this particular input field. The function at the end, calcAllFields(), is supposed to do the calculations for all items in my form to give me the grand total of all input fields: function calcAllFields(id) { var id = $(id).attr("id"); $('#target1').text($("#total" + id).map(function() { var currentValue = parseFloat(document.getElementById("currentTotal").value); var newValue = parseFloat($("#total" + id).text()); var newTotal = currentValue + newValue; document.getElementById("currentTotal").value = newTotal; return newTotal; }).get().join()); } The variable currentTotal is getting its value from a hidden field on my form: <input type="hidden" id="currentTotal" value="0"> As I enter numbers a field the calculation for that line will be accurate, but the grand total will be inaccurate because the value for currentTotal will continue to increment with every key stroke I make in the input field. Any ideas on how to avoid this from happening?

  • jquery Iframe src attribute

    - by alex
    Why does x alerts undefined for iframe but works for embed. I'm grabbing the iframe or embed code from a textarea <iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/9kiWvkj2ldWiU?hd=1"></iframe> var textarea = $('#embedModal textarea'), textareaValue = textarea.val(), $embed = $($(textareaValue).find('iframe')), x = $embed.attr('src'); alert(x); //alerts undefined for iframe If you change find('iframe') to find('embed') and you try with the below embed code. then i'm able to get the value of src, but with iframe i get undefined. Seems strange. <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/9kiWvkj2ldWiU?hd=1"></embed>

  • Replacing Text in a Toggled Anchor with JQuery

    - by willmcneilly
    Hi I'm trying to change the text in an anchor on toggle. I'm doing this way at the moment but have found that once the anchor markup has replaced the toggle no longer works. Can someone please explain why this is happening and a solution? Many thanks. $('a#toggleHeader').toggle(function() { $('#header-wrapper').slideUp(); $(this).replaceWith('< href=\"#\" id="toggleHeader">Show Header</>'); //Note:I've move the anchor because I can only post one anchor as a new user },function(){ $('#header-wrapper').slideDown(); $(this).replaceWith('<a href=\"#\" id="toggleHeader">Hide Header</a>'); });
