  • Div width: auto and IE

    - by Andrew Heath
I'm using the jQuery qTip to show individual users and their votes when an average rating is mousedover. qTip calls a PHP file which grabs all the users and votes for the item from the MySQL database and builds a 3 column table, which appears as the tooltip. In Firefox, the tooltip displays properly. In IE7 (haven't tested on IE8 yet), the tooltip is the proper height, but the width is only 2 or 3 characters - not the entire table. If I set the width of the div to a fixed number, say width: 300px; I can coax IE into displaying it properly. However, the length of my users' names varies considerably, and I'd rather not nail down the div to its maximum possible width and then have a crapload of whitespace when you look at an item voted on only by "Joe". Using width: auto; has no effect in IE7. Are there alternatives? Sorry if I've overlooked a similar question. I searched for a bit before posting but didn't find anything suitable. EDIT TO ADD CODE: <div style="-moz-border-radius: 0pt 0pt 0pt 0pt; position: absolute; width: 358px; display: none; top: 384.617px; left: 463.5px; z-index: 6000;" class="qtip qtip-defaults" qtip="0"> <div style="position: relative; overflow: hidden; text-align: left;" class="qtip-wrapper"> <div style="overflow: hidden; background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% white; border: 1px solid rgb(211, 211, 211);" class="qtip-contentWrapper"> <div class="qtip-content qtip-content" style="background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% white; color: rgb(17, 17, 17); overflow: hidden; text-align: left; padding: 5px 9px;"> <div id="WhoResults"> <table> <tbody> <tr> <td>guy1</td> <td>guy2</td> <td>guy3</td> </tr> <tr> <td>guy4</td> <td>guy5</td> <td>guy6</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> I have applied no CSS styling. That's all been handled by qTip. I tried to format it as best I could. Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • Non-managed by Spring web-application and jar file with Spring features

    - by EugeneP
My idea is to create a .jar file that contains Services managed by Spring, that should be got by getBean() I want to put it to WEB-INF/lib of a Web-app Then in web-app Servlets I want to get use of the functionality of a Jar file. 1 Idea. Create classes that encapsulate invokation to Spring Context (getBean() etc) So then, I suppose there'll be no problem in using those in Servlets through jar import. Only thing, what kind of context I should use inside .jar to get beans so that it worked after packing into jar? ApplicationContext or what? 2 Idea. Is there another simple solution how to pack into jar and then use Services in a non-managed by Spring environment?

  • Is there a way to enable Unicode characters in all browsers on Windows XP?

    - by Daniel Pietzsch
I'd like to use unicode symbols within my website (especially Dingbats). Is there any way to enable this inside all (or at least some) browsers in Windows XP, without having the user to adjust any of his settings? I use the HTML5 doctype with the charset configured to UTF-8: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta charset="utf-8" /> </head> <body></body> </html> The browsers recognize the charset correctly (even IE7). But no special characters are displayed. I only see an empty square box. This is the case for all of the following browsers: IE7, Safari 4, Firefox 3.5, Chrome 4.1, Opera 10.51. So, is there any way to configure to enable all (or most) unicode characters for browsers running on Windows XP?

  • Displaying the error message from web service in jquery validation custom method

    - by Mrt
Hello, I'm adding a custom method to jquery validation that calls a webservice, but the web service returns more then just a boolean. Is it possible to show the error based on return call of the web service. e.g. say I want an email address to be valid & not in use, so my web service checks this an returns 0 - ok, 1 - not valid, 2 - in use. How can I get jquery to show to correct error message based in the response ?

  • How to Make ESC exits full-screen mode in Trusted Application?

    - by Jeaffrey Gilbert
One consequence of the keyboard-restriction change is that pressing ESC will not exit full-screen mode in trusted applications. This enables you to use the ESC key for other functionality. However, you must provide your own user interface for exiting full-screen mode. Reference: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee721083(v=VS.95).aspx#fullscreen_support I need to make pressing ESC will exit from full-screen mode in trusted application without provide a UI control in all pages. Please give me hints, thank you.

  • main content wrapper div get's pushed down the page in IE

    - by Blankman
I have a 2 column layout, with the left side for navigation and the right side for the main content. The right side content has a wrapper div that looks like: Now this looks fine in FF and GC, and it IE but if I change the padding to anything over 4px that section gets pushed down below the left navigation. #content { padding:3px; // 4 makes it get pushed down } Does this mean IE has a different way of calculating the width of all my elements? Is this a common problem that has a solution for it?

  • Internet explorer and floats: please explain

    - by cletus
Yesterday someone asked Width absorbing HTML elements. I presented two solutions: one table-based and one pure CSS. Now the pure CSS one works well in Firefox and Chrome but not in IE. Basically the floats are being bumped down to the next line. It is my understanding (and the behaviour of FF and Chrome) that this should not be the case because the left divs are block level elements that floats should basically ignore. Complete code example is below. Adding a DOCTYPE to force IE into standards compliant mode helps slightly but the problem remains. So my question is: am I mistaken about my understanding of floats or is this IE's problem? More importantly, how do I get this to work in IE? It's been bugging the hell out of me. <html> <head> <style type="text/css"> div div { height: 1.3em; } #wrapper { width: 300px; overflow: hidden; } div.text { float: right; white-space: nowrap; clear: both; background: white; padding-left: 12px; text-align: left; } #row1, #row2, #row3, #row4, #row5, #row6 { width: 270px; margin-bottom: 4px; } #row1 { background: red; } #row2 { background: blue; } #row3 { background: green; } #row4 { background: yellow; } #row5 { background: pink; } #row6 { background: gray; } </style> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.google.com/jsapi"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> google.load("jquery", "1.3.2"); google.setOnLoadCallback(function() { $(function() { $("div.text").animate({ width: "90%" }, 2000); }); }); </script> </head> <body> <div id="wrapper"> <div class="text">FOO</div><div id="row1"></div> <div class="text">BAR</div><div id="row2"></div> <div class="text">THESE PRETZELS ARE</div><div id="row3"></div> <div class="text">MAKING ME THIRSTY</div><div id="row4"></div> <div class="text">BLAH</div><div id="row5"></div> <div class="text">BLAH</div><div id="row6"></div> </div> </body> </html>

  • Accordion nonfunctional in Opera

    - by nona
    While working as expected in all other browsers, opera refuses to tween the height of content. oddly enough, as i sat annoyed rapidly clicking it over and over again, if it's closed, and you select some text, and keep clicking the same spot long enough, sometimes it pops open. lol. seriously. ahh, it seems to sometimes open the first time clicked after the page is loaded. wth? the javascript: window.addEvent('domready', function(){ var content_height = [];i=0; $$( '.bio_accordion' ).each(function(item){ i++; content_height.push(item.getElement('.moreInfo').offsetHeight); var thisSlider = new Fx.Slide( item.getElement( '.moreInfo' ), { mode: 'horizontal' } ); thisSlider.hide(); item.getElement('.moreInfo').set('tween').tween('height', '0px'); var morph = new Fx.Morph(item.getElement( '.divToggle' )); var selected = 0; item.getElement( '.divToggle' ).addEvents({ 'mouseenter': function(){ if(!selected) this.morph('.div_highlight'); }, 'mouseleave': function(){ if(!selected) { this.morph('.divToggle'); } }, 'click': function(){ if (!selected){ if (this.getElement('.symbol').innerHTML == '+') this.getElement('.symbol').innerHTML = '-'; else this.getElement('.symbol').innerHTML = '+'; item.getElement('.moreInfo').set('tween', { duration: 1500, transition: Fx.Transitions.Bounce.easeOut }).tween('height', content_height[i]); selected = 1; thisSlider.slideIn(); } else{ if (this.getElement('.symbol').innerHTML == '+') this.getElement('.symbol').innerHTML = '-'; else this.getElement('.symbol').innerHTML = '+'; thisSlider.slideOut(); item.getElement('.moreInfo').set('tween', { duration: 1000, transition: Fx.Transitions.Bounce.easeOut }).tween('height', '0px'); selected = 0; } } }); } ); }); the html: <div class="bio_accordion"> <div class="divToggle">test<span class="symbol">-</span></div> <div class="moreInfo" style="margin-left:10px;"> aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa asdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdf aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa asdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdf aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa asdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdf </div> </div> the css: .bio_accordion { padding:0px; margin:0px; } .divToggle { cursor: pointer; color: #ffffff; background-color:#1089b5; padding: 8px; } .div_highlight { padding-left:30px; padding-right:30px; background-color:#096687; } .moreInfo { padding: 2px; padding-top:15px; padding-bottom:15px; overflow: hidden; } .symbol { float:right; }

  • InnoDB not supported by webhost. What now?

    - by Peter Perhác
I was developing a small WAMP web application on my laptop, where I have an instance of mySQL running and I chose InnoDB for my DB engine. After several weeks' development I wanted to make it available to the public and found out the database server provided by my web host does not support InnoDB, only MyISAM. The create-and-populate script generated from the innoDB schema on my laptop, when executed against the live database, can manage to create individual TABLES but then runs into problems creating the VIEWs. Are views not supported in MyISAM? I know FOREIGN KEYs are not. That's very much why I made the choice of InnoDB... What are my chances of making my innoDB schema design work with myISAM? Is there any straightforward way of converting the whole schema from one storage engine to the other? Should I look for another web host that does provide a mysql db that supports innoDB?

  • stop script debug error dialogs occur in ie8 ?

    - by Haroldo
I get this, clicking 'no' means the page displays flawlessly. it's refering to this part of jquery1.4.2.js: // Get the Nth element in the matched element set OR // Get the whole matched element set as a clean array get: function( num ) { return num == null ? // Return a 'clean' array this.toArray() : // Return just the object ( num < 0 ? this.slice(num)[ 0 ] : this[ num ] ); }, I assume i'm calling something in the wrong context somewhere in one of my js files (which would be a real mission to find). Will standard IE8 users get this error? (i imagine ms make it pretty difficult to reinstall ie!)

  • Session is null when inherit from System.Web.UI.Page

    - by Andreas K.
I want to extend the System.Web.UI.Page-class with some extra stuff. In the ctor I need the value of a session-variable. The problem is that the Session-object is null... public class ExtendedPage : System.Web.UI.Page { protected foo; public ExtendedPage() { this.foo = (int)HttpContext.Current.Session["foo"]; // NullReferenceException } } If I move the part with the session-object into the Load-Event everything works fine... public class ExtendedPage : System.Web.UI.Page { protected foo; public ExtendedPage() { this.Load += new EventHandler(ExtendedPage_Load); } void ExtendedPage_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { this.foo = (int)HttpContext.Current.Session["foo"]; } } Why is the Session-object null in the first case??

  • Using MicrosoftReportViewer with Web Forms programmatically

    - by user283897
Hi, I'm repeating my question because the prior one under this topic was lost. Could you please help me? I want to use MicrosoftReportViewer for Web Forms so that the DataSource be set programmatically. There is some sample code on the Internet for Windows Forms but I haven't found anything for Web Forms. For example, here is some code I've tried to use. It gives no errors but nothing is displayed. How should I modify the code to display a table in the ReportViewer? Imports System.Data Imports Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms Partial Class TestReportViewer Inherits System.Web.UI.Page Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load CreateReport() End Sub Sub CreateReport() Dim dt As DataTable Dim rpt As ReportDataSource dt = New DataTable("Sample") With dt .Columns.Add("No", GetType(Integer)) .Columns.Add("Name") .Rows.Add(1, "A1") .Rows.Add(2, "A2") .Rows.Add(3, "A3") .Rows.Add(4, "A4") .AcceptChanges() End With rpt = New ReportDataSource rpt.DataMember = "Sample" rpt.Value = dt rpt.Name = "test" With ReportViewer1 .LocalReport.DataSources.Add(rpt) .DataBind() .LocalReport.Refresh() End With End Sub End Class

  • IIS Active Directory double handshake hickup

    - by AngryHacker
I have a .net 2.0 click-once application that connects to IIS web services on Windows 2003 R2 64-bits. The IIS is setup with Integrated Windows Authentication. So whenever a web service call is made to IIS web services, there is a double handshake taking place: Client Request #1 GetEmployeeList Server Response #1 <- 401 HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized WWW-Authenticate: Negotiate WWW-Authenticate: NTLM Client Request #2 REQUEST Header... Server Response #2 <- 200 Data Received Lately, however, Server Response #1 will sometimes (a good 20 percent of the calls) take a massive amount of time (like 25 to 30 seconds). How do I debug this problem? Is this a Active Directory problem or a Domain Controller problem?

  • Canvas and HTML5: Supported Browsers?

    - by Paddy
I am looking at using HTML5 Canvas element for my upcoming project. I want to know what all major browsers (including the versions!, cos i know that the latest builds do support canvas) support the Canvas tag. I don't give a damn about IE. So don't bother reporting IE. :) In this tutorial Drawing shapes - MDC, the quadraticCurveTo section says: quadraticCurveTo(cp1x, cp1y, x, y) // BROKEN in Firefox 1.5 (see work around below) Does that mean that Canvas is supported on Firefox 1.5 and above too?

  • Are support for Object.hasOwnProperty and Function.call reliably mutual?

    - by kennebec
Can anyone tell me if there are any clients (browsers) that define a functioning Object.prototype.hasOwnProperty that do NOT define a Function.prototype.call? That is, must I use belt and suspenders to qualify clients for a certain level of scripting, or will hasOwnProperty do for both? if(Object.hasOwnProperty && Function.call){ // add script } Is support for either of these properties a reliable subset of support for the other?

  • Easy way to replicate web page across machines?

    - by Mike_G
I am trying to replicate a browser page to another browser on another machine. I basically want to reproduce a page exactly how it appears to a customer for viewing by the website owner. I have done this before using some impersonation trickery, but found that it would throw the session state out of wack when the site owner would switch customers. So I would like to stay away from cookie and authentication manipulation. Anybody done anything like that? Is there a way to easily transfer the DOM to a webservice? The tech/programming at my disposal are C#, javascript, WCF.
