  • Using jquery to change checkbox status

    Hi everyone! I have a list of items that have checkboxes associated with them, and the items are beneath a list header, which also has a checkbox(for db purposes only) which is actually hidden from view. I need to make it so that if any of the checkboxes beneath the header is checked, then the header checkbox is checked as well. BUT I also need to make it so that if all of the checkboxes are unchecked, then the header one is unchecked...how hard is this going to be? This is how I have it setup now: if($('.childCheckBox').is(":checked")){ $('#parentBox').attr('checked', true); } Now I am thinking that if I were to do something where I add an else if clause: else if($('.proBox2').is(not)(":checked"){ alert("uncheck parent"); } But I don't know the correct syntax for is-not, or isn't, or even if there is anything that will do that. Are there any thoughts out there? I need the box to check if one is selected and uncheck if none are selected. Thanks!!

    I am building a website for a radio station and want to show which presenter is currently on air. Any help or guidance on how I can acheive this would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi friends, I have a button, while clicking the button i just produce a div containing some checkbox. If the user select the required checkbox, it will produce a iframe according to the value of the checkbox and the div will disappear. Its placed immediately below the button. Up to this its working fine. If the user again click the button, the droping div is comes behind the frame. Please help me to make it visible above the frame.     I set the width of a textarea to 100%, but now I need to know how many characters can fit in one row. I'm trying to write a javascript function to auto-grow/shrink a textarea. I'm trying to keep from using jquery since I just need this one function. My logic is to rows = textarea.value.split('\n'), iterate through rows and count += rows[i].length/textarea.cols, then count += rows.length, and finally textarea.rows = count. The only problem is that count is too large because textarea.cols is too small.

    I have a multi-line text box. When users simply type away, the text box wraps the text, and it's saved as a single line. It's also possible that users may enter line breaks, for example when entering a "bulleted" lists like: Here are some suggestions: - fix this - remove that - and another thing Now, the problem occurs when I try to display the value of this field. In order to preserve the formatting, I currently wrap the presentation in <pre> - this works to preserve user-supplied breaks, but when there's a lot of text saved as a single line, it displays the whole text block as single line, resulting in horizontal scrolling being needed to see everything. Is there a graceful way to handle both of these cases?

    I'm not even sure if form arrays is the proper term, but it looks a bit like this: <input name='element[]' type='text' /> <input name='element[]' type='text' /> Which is then retrieved in PHP as an array stored in $_POST['element'] -- in this case with 2 values. I've tested it in the browsers I have available to me, but I've never seen this before and I'm wondering is this supported pretty much in all browsers?     I'm looking for a way to allow a user to upload a large file (~1gb) to my unix server using a web page and browser. There are a lot of examples that illustrate how to do this with a traditional post request, however this doesn't seem like a good idea when the file is this large. I'm looking for recommendations on the best approach. Bonus points if the method includes a way of providing progress information to the user. For now security is not a major concern, as most users who will be using the service can be trusted. We can also assume that the connection between client and host will not be interrupted (or if it is they have to start over).
