    Hi I try to make a page to go to the startpage after eg. 10sec of inactivity (user not clicking anywhere). I use jQuery for the rest but the set/clear in my test function are pure javascript. In my frustation I ended up with something like this function that I hoped I could call on any click on the page. The timer starts fine, but is not reset on a click. If the function is called 5 times within the first 10 seconds, then 5 alerts will apear... no clearTimeout... function endAndStartTimer() { window.clearTimeout(timer); var timer; //var millisecBeforeRedirect = 10000; timer = window.setTimeout(function(){alert('Hello!');},10000); } Any one got some lines of code that will do the trick? - on any click stop, reset and start the timer. - When timer hits eg. 10sec do something.     On Wikipedia I found information about bezier curves and made a function to generate the inbetween points for a bezier polygon. I noticed that Expression Design uses bezier handles. This allows a circle to be made with 4 points each with a bezier handle. I'm just not sure mathematically how this works in relation with the formula for bezier point at time T. How do these handle vectors work to modify the shape? Basically what's there relation to the bezier formula? Thanks

  • DRY programming dilemma

    the situation is like this: im creating a Logger class that can write to a file but the write_to_file() function is in a helper class as a static function. i could call that function but then the Log class would be dependent to the helper class. isn't dependency bad? but if i can let it use a helper function then what is the point of having helper functions? what should one prioritize here: using helper functions and have to include this helper class everywhere (but the other 99 methods wont be useful) or just copy and paste into the Log class (but then if i have done this 100 times and then make a change i have to change in 100 places). share your thoughts and experience!

    What's wrong with this code? It works in IE and FireFox, but Chrome does not work. The idea is that the function fnTimeOut will be triggered in 5 seconds after onmousemove. It´s ok. But when, in Chrome, I click on the button "ok" to function fnAlert is triggered instantly.   • Problems with jQuery load and getJSON only when using Chrome

    I'm having an issue with two jQuery calls. The first is a "load" that retrieves HTML and displays it on the page (it does include some Javascript and CSS in the code that is returned). The second is a "getJSON" that returns JSON - the JSON returned is valid. Everything works fine in every other browser I've tried - except Chrome for either Windows or Mac. The page in question is here: http://urbanistguide.com/category/Contemporary.aspx When you click on a Restaurant name in IE/FF, you should see that item expand with more info - and a map displayed to the right. However, if you do this in Chrome all you get is the JSON data printed to the screen. The first problem spot is when the "load" function is called here: var fulllisting = top.find(".listingfull"); fulllisting.load(href2, function() { fulllisting.append("<div style=\"width:99%;margin-top:10px;text-align:right;\"><a href=\"#\" class=\"" + obj.attr("id") + "\">X</a>"); itemId = fulllisting.find("a.listinglink").attr("id"); ... In the above code, the callback function doesn't seem to get invoked. The second problem spot is when the "getJSON" function is called: $.getJSON(href, function(data) { if (data.error.length > 0) { //display error message } else { ... } In this case - it just seems to follow the link instead of performing the callback... and yes, I am doing a "return false;" at the end of all of this to prevent the link from executing.     Hello, i'm following some flex tutorials everything's working as wanted expected for one thing : When i use my function getServerByBrand($brand) there is no returned data into my datagrid and i don't know why because it uses the same schema as getAllserver() which is working .   • Calling Model Functions from a Library

    Hello all, I have turned a normal PHP class into a library so I can use it in Codeigniter as a library. I can load it and call the functions I need in that class. Here is that class to help with the question. However, there are quite a few points where I have to call functions in my class. These functions reside in the model that instantiated my class. How can I do this as currently normal calls don't work.     Hi, I have a program that includes a recursive function. This function when executed in a Windows Application works just fine, and when used in a Webservice, it works fine when the webservice is initiated by the VS (it assigns a random port), but this function return a stackoverflow error when the webservice is published. (note that the machine used is the same, hence it is published on my pc). Could it be that the stack size of a Web Service is smaller than that of a Window Application?
