    I tried installing trial version of sap netweaver 7.1 in windows vista in my laptop but i couldnt succeed there.. then i tried installing SAP WEB AS 6.20 now.I am able to succeed till 91% completion.After that i get some errors and the installation stops... if anybody have any experiences please share.it will be really helpful.I mentioned the complete log details below. nfo: INSTGUI.EXE Protocol version is 10.     Is there any significant difference in behavior (HTML, CSS, Javascript, ...) with Internet Explorer 8 on different operating systems? In other words, will a web page work the same way across IE8+XP, IE8+Vista and IE8+Win7, or are there some significant differences? (I'm aware that installed plugins and fonts will have an impact, but that's a bit outside my scope at the moment; assuming compatibility mode X-UA-Compatible: IE=8 or edge) Although The IEBlog contains very useful information, I haven't found this data there - so I'm assuming that there should not be any difference. However, search has turned up this (vague) question: "IE8 on XP: looks great! IE8 on Vista: looks terrible". Will have to check IE8+{XP,V,7} in VM in the meantime.

We use the RS232 Java COMM API (javax.comm.properties, comm.jar, win32com.dll) to achieve the same. Currently the code works fine on Windows XP 32-bit, Vista 32-bit and Windows 7. However we are having a problem trying to communicate on Vista 64-bit. I read from the Java forums that there is no 64-bit support for the Java COMM API I was wondering if anyone was facing a similar situation and were able to resolve the same in some way?

For example, under the German version Vista, "Program Files" is called "Programme".     My web application has (server side) a wav file saved using truespeech and then a client (ie6, ie7) can ask to plat the file and the web server serves it.. All you need on xp is to have WMP 9 or higher and it all works. but on vista.. suddenly the vista client box can't play the file cause it doesn't support truespeech (some upgrade!) anyone has an idea of what should I do? You can suggest a way to make it work on the client (but in general, I don't like having to say that the solution includes installing anything on the client box) you can suggest I don't save the server side file in truespeech, and instead use something else (what?)

    We're upgrading from VS2005 to VS2010. We are almost there but there is a problem with Crystal Reports. We use the RDC (COM-based) component within our C++ application. On Windows 7 or on VISTA, I can't get the viewer nor the designer controls working. I get Access Violations when the control is activated: // from atlhost.h (line 2208) hr = m_spOleObject->DoVerb(OLEIVERB_INPLACEACTIVATE, NULL, spClientSite, 0, m_hWnd, &m_rcPos); The strange thing is that when I run the same exe on a XP machine, it seems to work. We basically use "AtlAxWin100" window class to host the Crystal report control ("CrystalReports11.ActiveXReportViewer.1") in. I'm using the SP6 version of Crystal reports so that's the latest version. Also, when I compile the same code with VS2005 and run it on Windows7 or Vista everything works out just fine. Does anybody have any idea about what might cause the problem, or ideas for further investigations?

It's not a typical installer in the normal sense (it doesn't add anything to the Start Menu or Program Files folders). Each time the setup program is run on Vista, after the exe terminates, Vista produces a task dialog: This program might not have installed correctly Reinstall using recommended settings This program installed correctly Is there a function I need to call from the exe or registry entry to set, to indicate to the operating system that the program installed correctly (or to at least supress this message)? I can't figure out how to fill in a login form from the client. I'm creating a new ActiveXObject, navigating to the site, but lost as to where to go from here. var conn = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); conn.open("POST", "url", false); conn.send(null); Can access the form from the ActiveXObject based on the form id? I'd also assume I'm going to need to change a few headers for a POST vs. a GET? Thanks for any tips or links to references! I can't seem to find much and JavaScript isn't my forte.

    As i understand it, you're supposed to use Environment.GetFolderPath method so you have OS independent code... WinXP uses C:\Docs and Settings\ Vista uses C:\ProgramData and c:\Users I'm using the code below on a vista computer and it's returning a c:\documents and settings directory instead of c:\ProgramData like it should... If I have a .reg file with some keys in it, how can I tell regedit to import it into the 32-bit registry (under Wow6432Node) rather than the 64-bit registry? Even if I put the Wow6432 path into the registry keys in the .reg file, Windows "cleverly" ignores them and puts them in the main 64-bit registry.

    My Toughbook (CF-19) has a 'Windows Vista Business OEMAct, Panasonic' COA on the bottom of the unit. When I extracted the key before reformatting - it was a 'Windows XP Professional' Product Name and the Product ID code has 'OEM' in it...and I can confirm this upgrade was last OS installed (w/ Service Pack 3) - but there was the tablet functionality. This extracted product key isn't working with any version of Windows I try installing. XP Pro, XP Pro Tablet 2005 OEM, Tablet XP OEM. Any insights?
