  • Using gcc compiler flag in Xcode

    - by tech74
    Hi, Shark has identified a area of code to be improved - Unaligned loop start and recommends adding -falign-loops=16 (gcc compiler flag). I've added this to Other C flags in iphone Xcode both to the dependant project and top level project. However it still does not seem to affect the performance and Shark is still reporting the same problem so it appears it didn't work. Am i doing this correctly?

    - by David Hicks
    Hi, I'm new to R, and I'm having trouble figuring out how to replace the FOR loop in the function below. The function estimates a population mean. Any help at all would be much appreciated. Thank you! myFunc<- function(){ myFRAME <- read.csv(file="2008short.csv",head=TRUE,sep=",") meanTotal <- 0 for(i in 1:100) { mySample <- sample(myFRAME$TaxiIn, 100, replace = TRUE) tempMean <- mean(mySample) meanTotal <- meanTotal + tempMean } cat("Estimated Mean: ", meanTotal/100, "\n") #print result }

  • Is there a way in PHP to keep a file open and process each line and subsequent lines?

    - by Chris Denman
    I want to write a php script that keeps the apache_log file open and "listen" to the log and deal with each log entry as it happens. I'm thinking that I need to open a file, get the number of lines, then do this again in a loop - and when the size is different, read the new lines and process them. Am I barking up the wrong tree, or is there a silly easy solution that I have missed? Chris

  • Dismissing a modal view in horizontal orientation?

    - by Sheehan Alam
    I have a modal view that is presented and dismissed fine when my device is in vertical orientation. I have problems when my modal view is presented in the vertical orientation, but dismissed in horizontal orientation. The entire app switches back to vertical orientation automatically. How can I ensure that if I am in horizontal orientation, the view should dismiss properly?

  • iPhone + OpenGL. How Do I Correctly Switch From Landscape to Portrait?

    - by dugla
    Because of the additional complexity of drawing via an EAGLView vs. a UIView I was wondering of someone has found a robust way to handle changing the device orientation from Landscape to Portrait. One approach is to tear down the framebuffer and rebuild from scratch which would require saving/retrieving scene state. The other would be far simpler: just rotate and resize the view. What is the best practice for this? Thanks, Doug

  • Combining List<>'s in .NET

    - by Maxim Z.
    I have a few List< objects that hold many objects of one specific type. My goal is to combine these List<'s into one List<. Of course, I could just loop through each List's contents and add them into one final List, but is there a more efficient way?

  • NSSet to NSData, then back out again, for GameKit?

    - by Peter Hajas
    Hi guys, I'm trying to do some image edit syncing between two of the same app running on different iPhones. I would like to send an NSSet * from one device to another (which I imagine involves encapsulating in NSData) then decrypting this back to an NSSet, then using it in a touchesMoved type of function. Is this feasible, or should I work on syncing the UIImages instead? I worry that UIImage syncing would have too much latency for realtime interaction. Thanks for your help!

  • Memory allocation problem C/Cpp Windows critical error

    - by Andrew
    Hi! I have a code that need to be "translated" from C to Cpp, and i cant understand, where's a problem. There is the part, where it crashes (windows critical error send/dontSend): nDim = sizeMax*(sizeMax+1)/2; printf("nDim = %d sizeMax = %d\n",nDim,sizeMax); hamilt = (double*)malloc(nDim*sizeof(double)); printf("End hamilt alloc. %d allocated\n",(nDim*sizeof(double))); transProb = (double*)malloc(sizeMax*sizeMax*sizeof(double)); printf("End transProb alloc. %d allocated\n",(sizeMax*sizeMax*sizeof(double))); eValues = (double*)malloc(sizeMax*sizeof(double)); printf("eValues allocated. %d allocated\n",(sizeMax*sizeof(double))); eVectors = (double**)malloc(sizeMax*sizeof(double*)); printf("eVectors allocated. %d allocated\n",(sizeMax*sizeof(double*))); if(eVectors) for(i=0;i<sizeMax;i++) { eVectors[i] = (double*)malloc(sizeMax*sizeof(double)); printf("eVectors %d-th element allocated. %d allocated\n",i,(sizeMax*sizeof(double))); } eValuesPrev = (double*)malloc(sizeMax*sizeof(double)); printf("eValuesPrev allocated. %d allocated\n",(sizeMax*sizeof(double))); eVectorsPrev = (double**)malloc(sizeMax*sizeof(double*)); printf("eVectorsPrev allocated. %d allocated\n",(sizeMax*sizeof(double*))); if(eVectorsPrev) for(i=0;i<sizeMax;i++) { eVectorsPrev[i] = (double*)malloc(sizeMax*sizeof(double)); printf("eVectorsPrev %d-th element allocated. %d allocated\n",i,(sizeMax*sizeof(double))); } Log: nDim = 2485 sizeMax = 70 End hamilt alloc. 19880 allocated End transProb alloc. 39200 allocated eValues allocated. 560 allocated eVectors allocated. 280 allocated So it crashes at the start of the loop of allocation. If i delete this loop it crashes at the next line of allocation. Does it mean that with the numbers like this i have not enough memory?? Thank you.

  • Performance of tokenizing CSS in PHP

    - by Boldewyn
    This is a noob question from someone who hasn't written a parser/lexer ever before. I'm writing a tokenizer/parser for CSS in PHP (please don't repeat with 'OMG, why in PHP?'). The syntax is written down by the W3C neatly here (CSS2.1) and here (CSS3, draft). It's a list of 21 possible tokens, that all (but two) cannot be represented as static strings. My current approach is to loop through an array containing the 21 patterns over and over again, do an if (preg_match()) and reduce the source string match by match. In principle this works really good. However, for a 1000 lines CSS string this takes something between 2 and 8 seconds, which is too much for my project. Now I'm banging my head how other parsers tokenize and parse CSS in fractions of seconds. OK, C is always faster than PHP, but nonetheless, are there any obvious D'Oh! s that I fell into? I made some optimizations, like checking for '@', '#' or '"' as the first char of the remaining string and applying only the relevant regexp then, but this hadn't brought any great performance boosts. My code (snippet) so far: $TOKENS = array( 'IDENT' => '...regexp...', 'ATKEYWORD' => '@...regexp...', 'String' => '"...regexp..."|\'...regexp...\'', //... ); $string = '...CSS source string...'; $stream = array(); // we reduce $string token by token while ($string != '') { $string = ltrim($string, " \t\r\n\f"); // unconsumed whitespace at the // start is insignificant but doing a trim reduces exec time by 25% $matches = array(); // loop through all possible tokens foreach ($TOKENS as $t => $p) { // The '&' is used as delimiter, because it isn't used anywhere in // the token regexps if (preg_match('&^'.$p.'&Su', $string, $matches)) { $stream[] = array($t, $matches[0]); $string = substr($string, strlen($matches[0])); // Yay! We found one that matches! continue 2; } } // if we come here, we have a syntax error and handle it somehow } // result: an array $stream consisting of arrays with // 0 => type of token // 1 => token content

  • staruml "combined fragment" layout

    - by Ryan Fernandes
    Am facing a bit of trouble getting the 'combined fragment' to sit above an activation (in a sequence diagram). On adding a 'combined fragment' (loop/alt/opt etc) to a section of the sequence diagram, the label and the guard condition appear 'under' the activation block and hence is obscured. Any idea how to fix this?

    - by mplacona
    Well, the title say it all. I have a ruby script I want running as a service (one I can start and stop) on my Linux box. I was able to find how to do it on Windows here Some readings point to creating daemons or cron tasks. I just need something simple I can call on my box's reboot, and can stop/start whenever I please. my script has an internal sleep call, and runs in "eternal loop" thanks in advance

  • OpenNETCF 1.4 Vs OpenNETCF 2.3

    - by CF_Maintainer
    I have a chance to upgrade a legacy suite of applications currently using .net 1.1 to the newest .net framework. It uses OpenNETCF 1.4 to communicate with the mobile device. Is it worthwhile to upgrade from opennetCF ver 1.4 to ver 2.3 as well? Should I be expecting significant roadblocks/issues while doing so OR if anyone has already done the upgrade, is it painless and beneficial? The application utilizes Rapi from the OpenNETCF.Desktop.Communication The PDA applications run on Dell X51 and HP IPaQ series

  • Running a python script on all the files in a directory.

    - by S1syphus
    I have a Python script that reads through a text csv file and creates a playlist file. However I can only do one at a time, like: python playlist.py foo.csv foolist.txt However, I have a directory of files that need to be made into a playlist, with different names, and sometimes a different number of files. So far I have looked at creating a txt file with a list of all the names of the file in the directory, then loop through each line of that, however I know there must be an easier way to do it.
