• Warning while downloading setup.exe builded by visual setup project

  I've built installer for my(c#, wpf) application by visual setup project. I share my project over internet by web site. But when I download the file I receive warning(actually looks like terrible error or virus) that the application(setup.exe) can harm my computer and apocalypse will come in near future if I will run it. Yes my installer is not signed by MS certificate, but I saw that other installers of others application also don't have cert but the warning is not shown(for instance installer of notepad++). Do you have any suggestions or solution of my problem?

• UIImages not displaying in TableView on iPhone, but working in Simulator

  Hi, I have a UITable View that displays an image in the left hand side of the table cell, and it works fine in the simulator. Only problem is, once I ran it on my device no images appear. It's just a blank white space. Have checked that images are added to resource folder for build (which they are) and that capitals etc. match (which they do). Any ideas? Thanks. • Returning a byte array from activex to javascript

  Hello all, I've built a small activex control using c#. I've got a function that returns an array of bytes. From some reason when I try to consue the returned array in js I receive an undefined value. Why is this happenning? Is there anyway to solve it?   I'm trying to create a simple login window with the very common 'Remember me' functionality. The login validation is done AJAX style, thus the browser won't remember my input. My approach is to use the built-in state functionality, but how to use it confuses me. Does anyone know where to find sdl-config? I guess I can build SDL from source, but why should I have to, when there exist pre-built packages?

• Reusable calendar popup like iCalendar/scheduler on iPad? Not a date picker wheel.

  I need a date picker that shows an actual calendar (similar to the built-in calendar feature on the iPad.) Is there a reusuable widget? How could I easily implement one? The date picker wheel is terrible because it doesn't show you the day of the week (Sun, Mon, Tue...) and isn't really needed on the iPad where you have enough room to show a calendar which is a very user friendly way of letting someone pick a date (it is mentally easy to find the third Tuesday from today.)

• Will Visual Studio 2010 only run 4.0 unit tests?

  I have different projects written in .NET 3.5 and some unit test projects to cover them. When converting my solution to be used in Visual Studio 2010 I keep all my projects in 3.5 but the unit tests are forced to 4.0? This way I cannot use them with my regular projects anymore. Resulting in this: Could not load file or assembly 'xxx.xxx.Core.UnitTest' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded. So I can't unit test any project less then 4.0? Or am I doing something wrong here?

• DRM for videos bundled with a desktop app?

  Hey everybody, So, I have this desktop app built using WPF and C#. It's basically an offline course system that has videos, quizzes, and other assorted content. My dilemma is that I don't know how to protect the videos once they are downloaded and installed on the users machine? Are there any DRM systems out there that I can look into? I thought about storing them in a local encrypted database but I don't even know where to start with that (or if there is something else out there that I'm totally missing...) Don't even know where to start looking on this one - any ideas?

My question: i want to design a database, that will be used for a production facility of different types of products where each product has its own (number of) parameters. because i want the serial numbers to be in one tabel for overview purposes i have a problem with these different paraeters . One solution could be EAV, but it has its downsides, certainly because we have +- 5 products with every product +- 20.000 serial numbers (records). it looks a bit overkill to me... I just don't know how one could design a database so that you have an attribute in a mastertable that says: 'hey, you could find details of this record in THAT detail-table". 'in a way that you qould easely query the results) currenty i am using Visual Basic & Acces 2007. but i'm going to Visual Basic & MySQL. thanks for your help. Bob

• Silverlight Project - Setting Reference to Copy Local false not working.

  Why is it that when my Silverlight project is built, the output directory contains a bunch of culture specific directories: ar\System.Windows.Controls.resources.dll bg\System.Windows.Controls.resources.dll ca\System.Windows.Controls.resources.dll etc etc etc Also the root of the build output contains: System.Xml.Linq.dll System.windows.Controls.dll I have gone through the projects in my solution and made sure that "Copy Local" is set to false for all the referances of the mentioned dll files. Those 2 files were set to true, but I did switch them to false. Despite my effort to google an answer, I remain stuck.

  First, I did do my homework searching before posting here. My requirement seems to be slightly different compared to questions posted out there. I have a matrix like ArrayList<ArrayList<Integer>> in the following form | id1 | id2 | score | |-----|-----|-------| | 1 | 3 | 95% | | 1 | 2 | 100% | | 1 | 4 | 85% | | 1 | 5 | 95% | | 2 | 10 | 80% | | 2 | 15 | 99% | I want to sort the matrix column-wise (first using score, then the id1). I already have the id1 in a sorted manner. That means I also need to sort all records with the same id1 first by using score, second by the id2. The reason for doing this is to create a ranking of the id2 in each id1. • Programatically find TFS changes since last good build

  I have several branches in TFS (dev, test, stage) and when I merge changes into the test branch I want the automated build and deploy script to find all the updated SQL files and deploy them to the test database. I thought I could do this by finding all the changesets associated with the build since the last good build, finding all the sql files in the changesets and deploying them. However I don't seem to be having the changeset associated with the build for some reason so my question is twofold: 1) How do I ensure that a changeset is associated with a particular build? 2) How can I get a list of files that have changed in the branch since the last good build? I have the last successfully built build but I'm unsure how to get the files without checking the changesets (which as mentioned above are not associated with the build!)

  Normally it happens that when ever the path of the library that has to be linked dynamically is defined in LD_LIBRARY_PATH or it it will be mentioned with -L flag while creating the binary. In actual scenario if ,lets say the binary has been built and deployed at the client place. Now if there is a change in the path of one of the dynamic link library path. then we need to supply a new make file to all the clients where the binary was deployed. is there any other method where we need not tell all the clients to change their makefiles and can something can be done in the code itself? if yes...could anybody please suggest how? This was ironically an interview question that was asked to me and i didnot have the answer for it.

• Deploying Sinatra app on Dreamhost/Passenger with custom gems

  I've got a Sinatra app that I'm trying to run on Dreamhost that makes use of pony to send email. In order to get the application up and running at the very beginning (before adding pony), I had to gem unpack rack and gem unpack sinatra into the vendor/ directory, so this was my config.ru: require 'vendor/rack/lib/rack' require 'vendor/sinatra/lib/sinatra' set :run, false set :environment, :production set :views, "views" require 'public/myapp.rb' run Sinatra::Application I have already done gem install pony and gem unpack pony (into vendor/). Afterwards, I tried adding require 'vendor/sinatra/lib/pony' to config.ru only to have Passenger complain about pony's dependencies (mime-types, tmail) not being found either! There has to be a better way to use other gems and tone down those long, ugly, redundant requires. Any thoughts?

  Hi guys I'm developing a collaboration system and our team has been at it for the past couple of years. However the boss suggested that we try and redevelop it using something robust. Basically our collaboration system incorporates a webmail client and a custom built contacts management system plus project management system. My boss likes the robustness of GMAIL and Google docs and really would like a solution that if possible could incorporate these two and other google applications - I'm not so sure how to get started on developing a custom application using google applications - especially consider the fact that in the long run we wish to host our collaboration system as a paid service - just like the services that 37signals basecamp and highrise have been.

• Enumerating .NET assembly resources at runtime

  I have a resource assembly with image files in it that are built using Resource or Content build action. This makes these files accessible using the Uris. However I cannot find the way to enumerate such resources. If I set the build action to Embedded Resource it becomes possible to enumerate the files with the following code: string[] resources = Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetManifestResourceNames(); but it in turn makes these files inaccessible using Uris. The question is - how to enumerate resources that are compiled with either Resource or Content build action? NOTE: As Thomas Levesque pointed out it is possible to enumerate such resources by leveraging the AssemblyAssociatedContentFileAttribute, but it seems to only work for WPF Application assemblies and not for class library ones. So the question is still open.

• Injection with google guice does not work anymore after obfuscation with proguard

  Has anyone ever tried to combine the use of google guice with obfuscation (in particular proguard)? The obfuscated version of my code does not work with google guice as guice complains about missing type parameters. This information seems to be erased by the transformation step that proguard does, even when the relevant classes are excluded from the obfuscation. • Recommendations for keeping a build server updated

  As a guy who frequently switches between QA, build and operations, I keep running into the issue of what to do about operating system updates on the build server. The dichotomy is the same on Windows, Linux, MacOS or any other o/s that can update itself via the internet: The QA team wants to keep the build server exactly as it is from the beginning of the product release cycle to the end, since installing updates could destabilize the server and means that successive builds aren't made against the same baseline. The ops team wants the software to be deployed on a system with all the latest security patches; this can mean that the software isn't deployed on exactly the same version of the o/s that it was built on. I usually mitigate this by taking release candidate builds and installing them on a test server that has a completely up-to-date o/s, repeating the automated tests that are run on the build server and doing some additional system level testing to make sure everything looks good before deployment. However, this seems inefficient to me; does anyone have a better way ?

  I have a MKAnnotationView being allocated with a DetailDisclosure button being displayed on the right side of the annotation. How would I go about knowing when a user clicked on the annotation button? (it's also angry about _O_WTEXT so if anyone's got some insight into that, I'd also appreciate it)

• Visual Studio 2010: adding a service reference to a 2008 generated wsdl

  Doesn't produce a app.config . In my team there is a guy who has Visual Studio 2008, he created a webservice. Then there is me, adding this webservice to a console project. Adding the service reference goes without problems but no valid app.config is generated. It's just empty <configuration> </configuration> When I disable 'reuse types' in my service reference it works but then I get an ambiguous error. Is this a bug? I found http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2159107/visual-studio-does-not-generate-app-config-content-when-add-service-reference this one, but there is no solution there, so I thought I bump the problem up again. • Returning form errors for AJAX request in Django

  Hi Guys, I've been finding my way around Django and jQuery. I've built a basic form in Django. On clicking submit, I'm using jQuey to make an AJAX request to the sever to post my data. This bit seems to work fine and I've managed to save the data. Django returns a ValidatioError when a form is invalid. Could anyone tell me how to return this set of error messages as a response to my AJAX request so i can easily iterate through it using JS and do whatever? I found this snippet. Looking at the JS bit (processJson) you'll see that he seems to get the error messages by extracting them from the response HTML. It seems kinda kludgy to me. Is this a best way to go about it? My apologies for any vagueness. Thanks in advance.

  Hi, I am trying to create a very basic\ minimalistic playlist application for http://www.google.co.in/music. Basically Google music displays links to song and when clicked it opens flash based player. Using my application i am collecting music links into a list box, when an song is clicked it opens the link in a separate webbrowser and it starts playing. As of now to achieve playlist functionality i also collect the time for each song and based on that i create a timer, once the time is over it switches to other song. My Question here is that, is it possible to detect when the flash player is done playing music. Currently the timer functionality that i have built is not reliable.
