• Struct size containing vector<T> different sizes between DLL and EXE..

  I have this situation where an EXE program imports a DLL for a single function call. It works by passing in a custom structure and returning a different custom structure. Up till now it's worked fine until I wanted one of the structs data members to be a vector < MyStruct When I do a sizeof(vector< MyStruct ) in my program I get a size of 20 but when I do it from inside the DLL I get a size of 24. This size inconsistency is causing a ESP pointer error. Can anyone tell me why a Vector < MyStruct would be a different size in the DLL than in the program? I have reverified that my structs in both the DLL and the Program are identical. I would appreciate any help on the subject. Thank you.

• problem with phpMyAdmin advanced features

  Hi all, I am having trouble putting the final touches on my MySQL/Apache/phpMyAdmin install on a Windows XP system. I am trying to get rid of all the error message in phpMyAdmin and I have gotten rid of all of them except the ones related to "advanced features." The exact error message I have is : The additional features for working with linked tables have been deactivated. To find out why click here. I have read up on the cause of the errors but I must be missing something because I still cannot get the warning to go away. Here is what I have done: Created a linked-tables infrastructure (default name "phpmyadmin") per the phpMyAdmin instructions and enabled "pmadb" in my "config.inc.php" file. Specified (enabled) the table names in my "config.inc.php" file (there are 9 tables total). Created a "controluser" and granted only Select privilages per phpMyAdmin instructions Adjusted "controluser" pma and "controlpass" pmapass in "config.inc.php" file From what I can see these are all the instruction phpMyAdmin gives on this subject, and I am unable to locate any tutorials on the specifics of "advanced features" in phpMyAdmin. Any help would be appreciated, and be gentle, this is my first go with MySQL/phpMyAdmin

  I'm developing a web application, and facing some security problems. In my app users can send messages and see other's (a bulletin board like app). I'm validating all the form fields that users can send to my app. There are some very easy fields, like "nick name", that can be 6-10 alpabetical characters, or message sending time, which is sended to the users as a string, and then (when users ask for messages, that are "younger" or "older" than a date) I parse this with SimpleDateFormat (I'm developing in java, but my question is not related to only java). The big problem is the message field. I can't restrict it to only alphabetical characters (upper or lowercase), because I have to deal with some often use characters like ",',/,{,} etc... (users would not be satisfied if the system didn't allow them to use these stuff) According to this http://ha.ckers.org/xss.html, there are a lot of ways people can "hack" my site. But I'm wondering, is there any way I can do to prevent that? Not all, because there is no 100% protection, but I'd like a solution that can protect my site. I'm using servlets on the server side, and jQuery, on the client side. My app is "full" AJAX, so users open 1 JSP, then all the data is downloaded and rendered by jQuery using JSON. (yeah, I know it's not "users-without-javascript" friendly, but it's 2010, right? :-) ) I know front end validation is not enough. I'd like to use 3 layer validation: - 1. front end, javascript validate the data, then send to the server - 2. server side, the same validation, if there is anything, that shouldn't be there (because of client side javascript), I BAN the user - 3. if there is anything that I wasn't able to catch earlier, the rendering process handle and render appropriately Is there any "out of the box" solution, especially for java? Or other solution that I can use?

  I have written a custom validation code in jQuery, which is working fine. I have a login form which has two fields, i.e. userid and password. I have written a custom code for client side validation for these fields. This code is working fine and gives me proper error messages as per the situation.   I've been doing some logging of object creation times in our open account process in production. Periodically, initializing an object would take way longer than expected. By initializing I mean calling it's init() and passing a couple of arguments that may be simple variables or objects. e.g. <cfset validateObj = createObject("component", "compExample").init( productionMode = VARIABLES.productionMode, ipWhiteListed = isWhiteListed, ipLocatorObj = VARIABLES.ipLocatorObj ) /> Thats all that happens in init() methods. Generally the execution time would be 0ms, but at random times I might get 3 or 3.5 seconds. This is not specific to one particular server or to our generally busy period. It appears to be quite random. One thought was that these templates were being evicted from our template cache as they are not especially frequently used, although I checked cfstat on a number of servers and the max CP/Sec is -1. Running CF 8,0,1 Has anybody else ever come across this?

  I have a webpage that displays data based on a default date. The user can then change their view of the data by slecting a date with a date picker and clicking a submit button. I already have a variable set so that if no date is chosen, a default date is used.... so what's the problem? The problem comes if the user trys to type in the url page without a parameter... like so: http://mywebpage/viewdata (example A) instead of http://mywebpage/viewdata?date= (example B) I tried using: if request.method == 'GET': but apparently, even example A still returns true. I'm sure I'm doing some obvious beginner's mistake but I'll ask anyway... Is there a simpler way to handle example A other than passing the url to a string and checking the string for "?date="?

• libcurl (c api) READFUNCTION for http PUT blocking forever

  I am using libcurl for a RESTful library. I am having two problems with a PUT message, I am just trying to send a small content like "hello" via put. My READFUNCTION for PUT's blocks for a very large amount of time (minutes) when I follow the manual at curl.haxx.se and return a 0 indicating I have finished the content. (on os X) When I return something 0 this succeeds much faster (< 1 sec) When I run this on my linux machine (ubuntu 10.4) this blocking event appears to NEVER return when I return 0, if I change the behavior to return the size written libcurl appends all the data in the http body sending way more data and it fails with a "too much data" message from the server. my readfunction is below, any help would be greatly appreciated. • IE7 Times Out Debugging ASP.Net Page

  My issue is similar to ASP.NET Debugging Timing out with IIS except that I'm using the built-in ASP.Net Development Server with VS 2010. If I pause for more than about 10 seconds in the debugger, IE7 "disconnects" from the web server with the error message Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage However, unlike in the similar question, the debugger is still running. If I refresh the browser it will post that refresh to the server and I can debug the page from the top again. Is it possible to configure things so that IE7 waits (much) longer before giving up? If it makes a difference, I'm launching IE using the "Start external program" option and passing a localhost URL as the command line argument (since Chrome is my default browser). I also specify a specific port.

• AS3 ExternalInterface works in IE but not Firefox

  Hi all, I am trying to execute an AS3 function from my javascript using the ExternalInterface. Seems to work fine in IE, but firefox is always returning javascript error method undefined. I have been Googling this for ages and eliminated the following possibilities: 1) Some people say you need to have an embed tag inside your object tag, so added one - no luck. 2) Many people say that you need to make sure that your flash is loaded before calling the javascript. Well my call is after pressing a link on the page. I am always using the flash application first and only pressing the link at the end. 3) Then I thought that maybe it is a security problem so added the following: try { ExternalInterface.addCallback("test", testing); trace("added callback"); } catch (error:SecurityError) { trace("Security Error:"+error.message); } catch (error:Error) { trace("Error:"+error.message); } But it prints out "added callback" :( Anyone else have any ideas what else could I possible try? • Catching the redirected address from NSURLConnection

  I'm working on a software which follows the HTTP redirection which is dynamically calculated by the server depending on a pparameter. I don't want to show the primary server in Mobile Safari but rather the redirected address only. The following code workks: request = [NSMutableURLRequest requestWithURL:originalUrl cachePolicy:NSURLRequestReloadIgnoringCacheData timeoutInterval:10]; [NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest:request returningResponse:&response error:&error]; // Extract the redirected URL target = [response URL]; The problem is that the server requires several seconds to answer. The sendSynchronousRequest blocks the app for this time completely which is messy, I can't even display the "Busy" animation. Does anyone know how I can retrieve the redirected address asynchronously without safari appearance in the meanwhile with the redirecting server URL or display some sort of the "Be patient" animation during the sendSynchronousRequest? What disadvantages would have the passing of sendSynchronousRequest in another thread?

Whenever the app is moved with Win+Shift+Left/Right the WM_GETMINMAXINFO message is received, as I'd expect, but MonitorFromWindow(hwnd, MONITOR_DEFAULTTONEAREST) returns the monitor the application has just been moved FROM, rather than the monitor it is moving TO, so if the monitors are of differing resolutions the window end up the wrong size. I'm not sure if there's something else I can call, other then MonitorFromWindow, or whether there's a "moving monitors" message I can hook prior to WM_GETMINMAXINFO. I'm assuming there is a way to do it because "normal" windows work just fine.

But in this moment I don't know how can I determinate this, since count($paginator) doesn't work anymore because of $paginator->getAdapter()->setRowCount(200);and I'm using this because it taks about 7 sec for Zend_Paginator to count the page numbers. So how can I find If my query has any results?

• Using a locale-dependent sorting function in Ruby/Rails

  What is a good approach to sorting an array of strings in accordance with the current locale? For example the standard Array#sort puts "Ä" after "Z", which is not correct in German. I would have expected the gem I18n to offer a hook for defining my own sorting algorithms or providing collation strings or objects. In my imagination, passing this proc or string to the sort function, would make it behave as necessary. I know that this is possible in Python, for example. Google has not helped me this time. Can you? Any advice appreciated!

The second line however, provides the following error: warning: passing argument 1 of 'addObject:' makes pointer from integer without a cast This also crashes the application with a "bad address" error.   Hi, I have a windows service which reads the config settings from an external file which is located at a different path than the path to the executable for the windows service. the windows service uses a FileSystemWatcher to monitor the changes to the external config file and when it the config file is changed, it should refresh the settings in memory by reading the updated settings from the config file. but this is where I am getting an exception "ConfigurationErrorsException" and the message is "An error occurred creating the configuration section handler for appSettings: The process cannot access the file 'M:\somefolder\WindowsService1.Config' because it is being used by another process." and the inner exception is actually "IOException" with same message. here is the code.   am passing a List as a JRBeanCollectionDataSource to a Subreport. here Object is of Type A and B. A is having properties 'name' and 'address' and B is having property 'location'. if Object is of type A then i have display 'name' and 'address' in subreport. and if is of type B then i have to diaplay 'location' in subreport. i have to access a type of Object in a subreport, means is of which type (A or B)?. i have tried a lot but not found any solution. can anyone help me please. thanks in advance.

• How to access Session values from layers beneath the web application layer.

  We have many instances in our application where we would like to be able to access things like the currently logged in user id in our business domain and data access layer. On log we push this information to the session, so all of our front end code has access to it fairly easily of course. However, we are having huge issues getting at the data in lower layers of our application. We just can't seem to find a way to store a value in the business domain that has global scope just for the user (static classes and properties are of course shared by the application domain, which means all users in the session share just one copy of the object). We have considered passing in the session to our business classes, but then our domain is very tightly coupled to our web application. We want to keep the prospect of a winforms version of the application possible going forward. I find it hard to believe we are the first people to have this sort of issue. How are you handling this problem in your applications?
