• Javascript - Concatenate Multiple NodeLists Together

  I was originally asking for an elegant way to simulate the Array.concat() functionality in IE or older browsers, because it seemed that concat was not supported. Only, of course it is and the reason the object didn't support it is because it wasn't an array. Oops! getElementsByTagName returns a NodeList, not an array. The real question, then, is: what's a good way to get a single list of all the form elements in a document (input, select, textarea, button) to loop through them? An array isn't required... a single NodeList would be perfect, too. Note that I'm using IE6 as this is for a corporate intranet (soon IE8 though).

• jquery noConflict not working in IE8 only

  I have a website using the prootype framework and I am looking to use a jquery plugin. Everything works just not in IE8. It works in ie7 which amazes me.   I have codeigniter installed at the root directory, and would like to have a subdirectory called "test" password protected using htaccess. I keep getting a "404 page not found" no matter what I try. • SHAddToRecentDocs without a file?

  I was toying with an IRC client, integrating it with the windows 7 app bar. To get a "Frequent" or "Recent" items list one has to call SHAddToRecentDocs API. I want to add recent IRC channels visited to the Windows 7 Jumplist for the IRC application. Now, my problem is, IRC channels don't exist in the file system. And SHAddToRecentDocs seems to insist on getting some sort of file system object. Ive tried to work around it by creating a IShellItem pointing to my application, and giving it a command line to launch the channel. The shell is rebelling however, and thus far has not visibly added any of my "recent document" attempts to the Jumplist. Is there no way to do this without creating some kind of entirely unwanted filesystem object?

  Perhaps it's a syntax error, but I never assume that. • How do I convert PDF to HTML programmatically?

  Are there any classes, COM objects, command line utilities, or anything else that I can make an API for that can convert a PDF to an HTML document? Obviously the conversion might be a little rough since PDFs can contain a lot more than HTML can describe. I found a utility called pdftohtml on Source Forge, but quite honestly it does a horrible job with the conversion. I don't care if the software is free or commercial, but is there anything out there at all that I can incorporate with my own software to do this sort of conversion at least decently? I know Google's developed their own method of doing this, since you can click "View as HTML" on a PDF attached to an email through Gmail, but I was hoping there was something out available to the public. Remember, PDF to HTML. I'm NOT worried about HTML to PDF.

  Hello all, I'm trying to write a simple plugin for the flash player flowplayer (documentation for writing a plugin for flowplayer can be found here). I'm new to flash and I think I'm having a problem connecting the .fla file to the .as file when compiling into a .swf. As it is, when I include the plugin, the player doesn't show up. I've set the .fla's document class to the .as file and added the .as file to the .fla's publishing classpath. The .as file can be found here and the .fla file can be found here Any ideas?

• Chrome plugin removal

  Hi, I'm writing an NPAPI plugin. In every webpage that the browser goes to, I inject my plugin with an object tag. Something like: <object id="myplugin" type="plugin-mime-type" > In some pages where i dont want it, after injection i remove it by finding the element using the id and doing a document.removeChild. From my logging i found that in firefox and opera, doing this automatically calls the plugin destroy method NPP_Destroy (NPAPI). But in chrome, it doesnt seem to call it. Is there any special way that i should remove a plugin in chrome that i am missing?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

  Hi, I want to find out the zoom level of what is being displayed in a browser window based on the javascripts' window object properties (http://www.javascriptkit.com/jsref/window.shtml) to which I have access. I just can't seem to find the right mathematical formula for the zoom based on the inner width, page offset, etc. I found a solution, but that uses the document.body.getBoundingClientRect call which does not return anything in my case and for which I can't tell if there's a suitable replacement from the window properties. • Mixing a4 and a3 in one Latex file

  Hello, I am finishing my thesis and have a large appendix. Some tables only look good, if first done on a3 and then (paper)printed on a4. Anyhow, working all the files seperalty is fine, but I struggle to compile all in one. I use the geometry package and start the document with: \usepackage[a4paper,left=30mm,right=20mm,top=20mm, bottom=20mm]{geometry} For the appendix, I want to include the table and use \newgeometry{a3paper,left=25mm,right=15mm, top=15mm, bottom=15mm} However, the command is completely ignored and I can read "a3paper,left=25mm,right=15mm, top=15mm, bottom=15mm" above the table. What did I miss? Is it even possible? If not, how do I get the numbers right, if I have to include it as a pdf (which works)? Thanks!

  There is only one text field on a HTML form. Users input some text, press Enter, submit the form, and the form is reloaded. The main use is barcode reading. I use the following code to set the focus to the text field: <script language="javascript"> <!-- document.getElementById("#{id}").focus() //--> </script> It works most of the time (if nobody touches the screen/mouse/keyboard). However, when the user click somewhere outside the field within the browser window (the white empty space), the cursor is gone. One a single field HTML form, how can I prevent the cursor from getting lost? Or, how to re-focus the cursor inside the field after the cursor is lost? thx!

  My code is working fine in FireFox but my users are restricted to IE.   I am optimization my web page by implementing caching, so if I want the browser not to take data from cache, then I will append a dynamic number as query value. eg: google.com?val=823746 But some time, if I want to bring data from cache for the below url, the browser is making a new http request to server, its not taking data from cache.   Hi I have an xml webservice which I'm fetching using PrototypeJS. The xml has the correct content type and is well-formed, and looks like this: <GetTokenResponse xmlns="http://tempuri.org/"> <GetTokenResult>F655100D64F098F0AC33AFF414A4A0D5</GetTokenResult> </GetTokenResponse> The AJAX request is completing successfully, and I can access the GetTokenResult node in both IE and FF but can only get the text content of the node in FF. My code is below: node = transport.responseXML.documentElement.getElementsByTagName('GetTokenResult')[0]; rawToken = (document.all) ? node.innerText : node.textContent; I've tried innerText and innerHTML, as well as children[0] and a few other chance guesses but IE returns 'undefined' when I access rawToken.   Our current project uses an asmx service. We want to keep this service for now, but would like to add an additional wcf service for ajax calls. I followed a procedure i found online to set up the service and it works fine with javascript in aspx files within that particular project but i'm unsure how to reference it in javascript files in a different project (in the same solution). If someone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.   I'm looking into synchronizing an ebook in epub format (so the content is in XHTML) to an audio file. I'm thinking of putting something along the lines of: <a class="audiolink" href="sound.ogg?t=1093"></a> into the body of the document, and then have a custom epub reader that recognizes those tags and synchronizes the audio accordingly. That does seem like a bit of a hack to me though, especially the use of a special class name. Does anyone have any pointers to how this may be done in a more standards-compliant manner (or somewhere where it has been done before)? Ebooks with audio annotation seem like an idea that may already be out there.

  I have been loading content with ajax and all works fine. I am quessing that I need to link the relevant files to a-z.php and then load it via ajax. Doesn't this kind of defeat the object of ajax?? That means that I will be loading the js files on the main page and then loading them again when I ajax a-z.php I hope I made some sense.
